It's really, really technically challenging to maintain a drift through the longest two corners there at high speed. It's actually a good map because it seems simple but it's deceptively technical. If you start one of those corners at the wrong angle you're either going to understeer into the wall, or you're going to oversteer a little too much and you'll end up drifting into the apex. If you're not fast enough you'll just peter out too early and your drift will end. And it's easy to just slip out of the drift and straighten up, because you're at quite a shallow angle at all times. There's also Akina Lake, which has a similar, really challenging corner straight away. The hardest part of these corners is the fact that they are a. long, and b. shallow. If they were short you wouldn't need much speed to get through them, and if they were less shallow you could just pull that hard angle and countersteering would be easy, but when they're shallow corners like that you're constantly on the very edge of straightening up and losing your drift. As someone who hasn't been wheel drifting that long but is pretty decent at it by now, they are my main weakness.
you forgot to mention: the racing drifter. doesn't use outside lines but just the racing line trying to be takumi. the simulation drifter. drives and drifts with caution on purpose to simulate actually risking their lives on an open road.
Can really recommend VR drifting! Just got into drifting in AC like 1-2 weeks ago and as soon as I started drifting in VR it became so much easier. Since I don't have a triple monitor setup it can get hard to really get a good angle to me, but since I can just look into the direction I wanna go to in VR it becomes so much easier :D Also if you don't mind giving up on sum visual quality the Quest 2 is not a bad pick. It's quite nice having a standalone device that is still useable with your PC via cable or wifi :D
Me as a NOOB (92 Hours Seattime now) started with Gravy Garage, WDTS and tried sometimes VDC Cars. After a while i could handle them even with my G27. Today my TS-PC Racer arrived, tomorrow my Fanatec CSR Elite Pedals will arrive. I cant wait to feel the upgrade .
Goose, you should do a IRL drift video this winter with your car (I remember you saying you do snow drifting in one of your videos). That video would probably be really, really cool
this is my message for anyone struggling with drifting on assetto corsa, just practice, there's wrong ways about doing it but just do it, it will get easier and easier and save some clips every now and then and youll see the improvement it will be night and day
For single player I have many mods, I only use the E30 on Online servers, the only drift servers I can find use vanilla cars and maps, and that E30 is setup so perfectly for the default drift map, set it to street 90s tires and you can hit the whole track in 3rd
When i started out learning to download and use mods was hard but within two months I was pro on my wheel with wdts cars and basically any pack in general so don’t let this scare you away from the game it’s more simple than you think
Assetto is probably the best sim game to get better at sliding corners and learning to race. I was discouraged trying to drift on Forza or carx but assetto I could clutch click and semi slide lol
@@kadenrinehart9324 honestly after feeling the force feedback on assetto corsa vs forza, I started only playing forza on the controller and just enjoying it as an arcade game. My brain just craves the realism when I'm on the wheel now lol
i have a friend who is kinda smooth on keyboard ngl... And i'm drifting on controller with no script WDT cars no problem cuz that's how i learned to do it before i knew the script existed, very difficult i have to say especially with counter steering and holding a good angle but over like an entire year of crashing I can actually hold a pretty good tandem
Mouse steering and keyboard isnt the worst thing ever in ac. Ive won some online races, I hover on the top 5's and 10's usually, but its not very great for drifting cause the most crucial thing in drifting is very precise gas control which you wont get on a keyboard
Could you share some controller configs or tips? I use a controller too but idk, i've watched a lot of videos about configs and even that script but dk if its working
I hated it when I started out, coming from consoles. It's so complicated at first. Content Manager really helps, but even now every month or so the game just refuses to let me race, or the handbrake stops working, or the controls reverse, or the sky turns black, lol - It's not a friendly experience But as someone who got into drifting after falling in love with it in Forza Horizon 4...it's worth it. The feeling when you're spinning a Direct Drive wheel as you drift a 900bhp Toyota Chaser(that screams like an F1 car) up Happogahara, or around LA Canyons...it's narcotic. I haven't even started to get into racing, all I do is drift, but I can still say without doubt that buying a gaming PC and a wheel and pedal setup(basically just for Assetto and its mods, that was the main reason) has been more than worth it. The feeling when you're sharply left-foot braking into a corner and your back end slides out just right, then as you're still sliding towards the barrier you rev back up and lightly feather the throttle for the next corner with a little clutch kick to get back up to full send, and you're away...there's nothing like it in gaming. I used to think the parry was the most satisfying thing in gaming: in Sekiro, say, or God Of War. Or maybe it was the headshot instakill, like in Resi 4, when you take someone out. But that was back before I really got into drifting. Drifting is just....👌
@@thesprawl2361 not gonna lie, I'm slightly jealous lol! I was in the market for a DD system, but i really only had a grand to spend, which would have covered border fees and currency conversion lmao. plus my racing stand situation needs a massive upgrade, so even more monies I flat out do not have on a fixed income. i got the content manager installed, but i just can't find anything I actually want to do with it, I'm still absolute trash at anything drifting so i mostly just try to put consistent laps down until I figure it out. I used to be able to put my 4banger 88' mustang sideways all the time IRL, but i simply cannot translate those skills to NOT-IRL and it's been a solid 20 years since I've had a vehicle
I always wanted to fully try AC, but the difficulty of installing mods, and everything has turned me down so many times, I wish someone could do "a full tutorial how to start on AC" cause like you mentioned in a video, you basically require PhD :D

There are girl drifters even in comps :) Ok they may be also real drifters.. And #6 is my car in Maxbooz hands haha :) You should have included my awd powerslides also here :P But yea, i love Your vids, keep them coming :)
yo man, as someone who spent 7 years drifting keyboard+mouse in live for speed back in the day, I can confirm thar keyboard+mouse setup can easily and i mean easily overperform steering wheel drifters. Sure the experience is much better with the steering wheel but don't you bark at us that it is not possible
I drift on a g923 with a handbrake and logitech shifter and when i started drifting in assetto corsa i was using the wdts pack for the longest time drifting and just today i swapped to a different car pack that to recommended in one of your videos and i love it so much
i’m almost a pro practice tandems a little but overall i drift pretty smooth and especially don’t drift with max horsepower on card like some people do

there is a map called highlands drift but the corners are so long that the default dirft cars are too slow to link an entire corner
