I saw the Monaco historic GP and now that the normal GP has happened a comparison can be made, the historic one is far better. Smaller cars that produce way less dirty air make for closer racing as cars aren't as hard to follow. I really hope that F1 cars from 2022 really reduce the dirty air as I'm tired of only seeing overtakes through the pit stops or through DRS.

If you so much graze the wall with a modern F1 car you could lose a bit of aero or put the car out of commission if it's bad. In the 50's the cars were raw and untamed. You have no margin for error to crash because you won't be walking back to the pits. Point being, you didn't get to choose the perfect set up while you drive the track. You get what you get after the car has been mechanically set up.

If you can I highly recommend going to this historic GP. It’s amazing and not that expensive to attend.
What a beast of a car! Best F1 footage from Monaco I have ever seen. Those were the days!
Those were the days? Which days? 2021? You think this was recorded in the 70s? Check the modern camera cranes and suspicious black of cigarette ads plus crisp footage of course.
Great footage! This is F1! Pure sound, manual gearbox, heel-toe... I wish I knew this golden era! Thanks for sharing.
👍
There is no double-clutching. Throttle blips when downshifting (heel and toe), but no double-clutching.
@@dinardinar3970 you are correct. I'm not an English native speaker. Heel and toe is what I meant.
Double clutching? He’s just matching the revs bro!
@@Virvum_Juggernaut yes, matching the revs using the heel-toe method as said just above. Will modify my initial comment.
this is the best video ı have ever seen in my life!!!!!! RESPECT!!!
I could watch this for hours on end, now this is how you make a quality video.
This is so much more enjoyable than watching todays F1!
What's wrong with today's F1?
@@michaelstratton5223 He doesn't like it because the car doesn't sound the same as before. Bohoo
@@lukarancini1630 He's crying because F1 is evolving ??
@Mare Car Dumbass...
@@lukarancini1630 Nah, modern cars are too long, too wide, too heavy which makes them sluggish when compared to older ones even though they're much faster
Miss the old cars. In many ways way more exciting than the current cars
The 1970s era of F1 race cars were amazing... from the barebones race car with no computer technology to the insane designs car companies were coming up with like the Brabham BT46 Fan car to the Tyrell P34 six wheeled race car.. What an awesome decade in F1 and by far the best era driver wise. Those guys were pushing their machines and themselves mentally and physically to the limit, literally willing to sacrifice their lives for a win lol.
What a catch at st. devote on start of 2nd lap, Great stuff. Wish it was longer.
correcting into the barriers!
I wish there was more too. First laps, especially in those cars, are going to be timid until the tires warm up. Would love to see the rest.
Absolutely incredible!!
Now that's a proper POV angle! Absolutely amazing
this is better onboard footage than you get today ! that was awesome
Steering one handed while you change gear during a bend , awesome skills !!!
Those beasts sounded sensational hustling through the tunnel.
ThatAMAZING sound in the beginning, incredible!!
This is infinitely more exciting than almost any F1 event in the last eight years and I’m tired of pretending it isn’t
Don’t pretend, not for a minute.
Today it’s how the sport is perceived and gross team budgets. Entitled drivers and zero loyalty.
Makes more fun to watch than today's Formula 1
You are right, Modern F1 has lost it's soul!!!
@@Rick356A you got it man
nothing to say more! U got it bro!
Wdym 2021 season is very fun to watch
@@szymonrobak4770 not if you are older than 25 and know what F1 was in the past...
"AND WHAT IS DELETRAZ DOING??"
He's having a great time in Monaco is the answer to that!
Underrated comment
James Hunt, the Keith Floyd of F1. Amazing driver and REAL personality. The like of which we will never see again.
Wow, Keith and James = legends!
Who is Keith Floyd? Is he from Nascar?
@@dddanielsr TV chef. Drank a lot of wine while cooking :)
I remember getting James Hunt's autograph at Mosport back in the day. (was it 1971 or 1973?) He was surprisingly personable and approachable. Legend.
😂
Louis, stay proud! Your Dad and James were some of the most outstanding drivers. Continue Celebrating what they did...
This is like the best video on UA-cam.... THE SOUND omfg !!!
Wow!! Proper engines, great sound, proper gear stick and decent drivers.
Historic racing is gutsy, expensive, and I respect it.
Historic formula racings is that x100.
Historic formula racing at Monaco is next level madness.
Excellent video! Thanks!
Watching him row through the gears is absolutely fantastic.
Man, I can't imagine the decibel level in the tunnel and at the start. Jesus.
Eargasm
This is some of my fave onboard footage ever.
Man, what a lap, such a thunder feeling!!
A real driver’s driver. Manual everything, no halo, haans, etc just balls to the wall. Brilliant vid, thanks for uploading.
Big balls! An accident means potential death or loss of legs. Respect.
That was the best start I have ever seen!!! Your father is a fantastic driver.
Jesus man, upload the whole thing!
Thanks for posting this and thank you for giving honor to your dad
I saw the Monaco historic GP and now that the normal GP has happened a comparison can be made, the historic one is far better. Smaller cars that produce way less dirty air make for closer racing as cars aren't as hard to follow.
I really hope that F1 cars from 2022 really reduce the dirty air as I'm tired of only seeing overtakes through the pit stops or through DRS.
They've made claims that this is the biggest difference in the new car, hope they come through
Dirty air is irrelevant when the cars are too wide
Racing is not wat it used to be... I'd watch old f1 over watching Hamilton bitching about a safety car
@@nickjohns1192 oh they had a Lamborghini Safety car at a 1981 Monaco. The worst imbalance was when a 360 bhp Mercedes was Safety car to crazy fast early 2000's cars. Much slower than so called 527 bhp Aston Turtle.
This is how it should be🤩 amazing camera work and drive ofcourse💪
One of the best on-boards I've ever seen. Go James!
Taking hands of the wheel to switch gears , F1 was deadly back then 🔥 . Great footage ..
Literally.
That could be the reason the Drivers attracted so many ladies in the 70s and 80s?😎
This is the best helmet cam you can get for an Formula 1 car it almost looks like a game!🤩
These old f1 cars are too sick
Absolutely fantastic that now the size and quality of cameras has advanced so much, meaning that we can now experience what the F1 cars of the 70s were really like to drive, albeit only visually, but certainly helps us to imagine it more accurately
James Hunt: *has to clutch and shift in Monaco*
Mazepin: *can't turn a knob*
If you so much graze the wall with a modern F1 car you could lose a bit of aero or put the car out of commission if it's bad.
In the 50's the cars were raw and untamed. You have no margin for error to crash because you won't be walking back to the pits.
Point being, you didn't get to choose the perfect set up while you drive the track. You get what you get after the car has been mechanically set up.
@Schuka Metin2 That's not true old cars were much harder to drive in almost every way. Like the way you shift or move the steering wheel. Also the tires were much thinner than now, which means much less grip
@Schuka Metin2 back then they were lighter and more powerful.
@@LewisVinyl more powerful ? HAHAHA
@@whatbruz4202 over 1000hp back then, well done you look like a twat now
The best onboard footage I think I have ever seen from this era...really good.
James Hunt was a larger than life character and a good foilfor Murray Walker's commentary. Hesketh still make motorcycles. F1 back then sounded awesome!🏎😃
I enjoy these 166 seconds more than 5 seasons of Lewis Hamilton. F1 should rather have 10 races a year of this, than what it is today. We don't need top speed, mega fast cornering, drs and all that crap. I watched this bloody video more than what i've seen of F1 the last 3 years.
Lewis Hamilton would shit himself on these cars.
ah ha ha ha ha amen
Whilst Hamilton is undoubtedly the best driver of his generation, he just doesn't compare with the guys who drove these cars. F1 now is so boring and predictable.
@@jjefferyworboys8138 I cannot stand him, but he's driven brilliantly this year so far. Still hoping Max would steal the crown at the end of the season. But you're perfectly right, today's drivers simply don't compare. Honestly instead of spending millions and millions, they should give every driver an identical car from say 1990 or 80 and see how they fare.
@@andres-gu8yu And James Hunt would struggle behind the wheel of a modern F1 car.
Thanks for the good VDO.
It was like driving F1 by myself. Seeing Monaco in the driver's eye view is very beautiful and exciting.
This VDO would be perfect with just one more lap.
The old F1 cars are more attractive than the modern F1.
Increíble arrancada, avanzó cuatro posiciones desde ahí a la primer curva 👏👏👏
