you should never pre-order any game. content creators are forced into it for things like forza cuz they have to create day one content or lose viewership for being late but for everyone else, pre-ordering a game before reviews are out and before you actually know what the game is like because it hasn't actually been shown to you yet is not a smart thing to do. It has no benefit to the player as it's not cheaper and it sets a bad precident to publishers that they can release any old shit and people will throw money at them before they even know what the game is. this sentiment has been echoed by gamespot, linus tech tips, I think penguinz0 may have mentioned it? don't quote me on that last one but I've heard it a few other places on the platform. It's a different story if it's a game like hollow knight where it's a kickstater that relys on crowd funding to exist in the first place due to the size of the company behind it. Then again, it's different to pre-ordering from something like the microsoft store since with kickstarter you're not purchacing a product before it exists but instead donating to a small business in the hope that you enable them to create a product. pre-ordering a title from a AAA studio is the opposite of voting with your wallet. personally I'm in a position where I can't afford to buy my games at all so I've turned to the own nothing approch since the games I want to play are worth muyltiple years of gamepass. A lot of people are against these subsciption models because they're worried that gaming will switch to subscription only, however I believe that there's too much money in the puchacing aspect for that to happen and that subscription services are a tool for people like me who don't have any other option to be able to afford to play the games they like other than to turn to piracy. I've yet to come across a genuine reason like this for pre-ordering large games but then again nobody has tried to convince me so if you have a counter-argument I'd like to hear it
The main issue I've noticed in races is there's not enough consistency, there's always 1 AI car that's miles ahead of every other car, but that changes race to race, as if they forget how to drive one race and then become Hamilton on the next race.
Now actually seeing the upgrade system in action in between races, it is a cool system. My ONLY gripe is that the upgrades are tied to car level. I say get rid of the level requirements so you can get things like weight reduction and better tires from the get-go with the car points you earn.
It’s also tied to individual cars so if you buy another of the same car you have to upgrade that too lol

Now that I think of it, weight reduction should have unlock stages, so you can knock out loose parts at stage 1 for like 100 to 200 pounds reduction, but at stage 2 you're removing deeper parts that need tools and skill to take out, and at stage 3 you're replacing body panels and potentially making the frame lighter by cutting out unnecessary parts of it that won't affect the stiffness.
You can change the interior POV in settings, so you can see more of the car interior and the steering wheel

Collision penalty looks very inconsistent, AI doesn't look as impoved as expected, these issues im sure will get tweaked, super excited to play this.

Honestly that AI still feels unaware and slow, like the only reason that they seem fast is because you are essentially having to do 1 Lap Magics every single lap, not to mention that you can never get the AI to back off, when you have the inside line they just crash into you. At this point they believe the game is in a ready to launch state and it really isn't just from a racecraft perspective, which is the most important part of a racing game. I will once again mention FM2 because there reverse catch up wasn't a thing (Where the Ai is made artificially faster until you pass them for perceived challenge) so the AI needed to actually be fast and the were, they would be quick at all times meaning you actually have to defend as well as try and overtake. Those last few laps of each race where the AI seems super slow is the AI's actual race pace. It's sad to see FM's AI fall from grace and be worse than Gran Turismo 4's AI.

It feels nice, but the worst part is having to wait for the game to shift, even when you're slamming through gears. It gets better once you get a clutch and transmission upgrade

Im gonna play it tonight for a couple of hours. It comes out at 11pm but I am leaving for a almost 2 week trip the next morning 😂 I want to play it for a bit
I want to get this. But the upgrading system and "progression" is a massive problem for me. Ill personally wait and get this on a sale, ill enjoy the game for sure but its not worth full price for me
Personally the idea of having complete access to everything instantly is overwhelming and ruins the sense of accomplishment from progression. Slowly unlocking things is how I want the game to go, I want games to make me work for it. Work for credits, work for upgrades. I don’t want to be pandered to.

My First Impression: Just played the introduction and man it was intense af because i’m doing the hardest settings with bootiful RWD Mustang, lvl 4/8 AI and the P1 AI is just horror so here’s how it happened. 1st race got p2 because still trying to familiarize the new driving feel because i only play horizon sooo yeah. 2nd race, i hard focus on the practice and easy win. The final race is… man intense begin at 12th because why not and almost lost because i hit sand at 1st lap but eventually catching up and manage to snag that 1st and won 🏆 🎉. so yeah this game is just amazing and intense as a first impression for me who haven’t play sim racing since gt4 and gt games from psp.
The golf r sounds pretty good honestly I’m impressed

I’ve tested every car stock and with a basic C class tune. The Hyundai is the best one and should be a decent online racer when sorted. Honda Civic is best in Intro series, had some decent online races with it.
