@@danielstokkerForza Motorsport Is just not a good Next-Gen Racing Sim. So don't be pissed. To be fair the Xbox Series X version is working much much better than the PC version. But even then the content and the base game is the same. So the game still can't beat GT even if the Xbox version works fine without issues.
It feels like polyphony actually have a passion for cars and want to show off that passion through the game. Turn 10 seem to have no passion at all. How can you approve and be proud of 15 year old 3d car models...
Why do you people keep. Lying about gran turismo it can't touch forza the cars are stiff it's like scalectric graphics physics and car sounds forza wins they've been winning since 2005 gran turismo had it but forza changed car games forever plus engine swaps nfs gran turismo the crew all copied off Forza it's a fact for them or any other game to beat forza they've got alot of work a hell of a lot plus forza you can make money easy gt7 how does a rx7 cost 300 000 credits and forza always adds content where getting our first piece of content next week cars galore
The VR version of gran turismo is the game changer for me. As someone who doesnt get a chance to be around these beautiful cars, the chance to walk around a mclaren f1, or to sit in it made me tear up.
In terms of graphics. I think it speaks volumes that I still visiting GT7s photo mode on a daily basis to make pictures and I bought the game at launch.
I respect Forza Motorsport and all, but when my friends and I have a weekend without the wives and kids, we still pick up the PSVR2 and the logitech G29, and do time attacks in GT7 one after the other and try to beat the actual best time (ghost) of the group. It is a new way for us to enjoy time spent together, and the cheering and seeing what our friend is doing in VR on the social screen is a damn treat for car guy friends like us. Also, it is cheaper than karting, which we used to do before GT7 VR, and we can drink while doing it, making the experience a whooole lot more hilarious. :D
I do something similar with a friend, only we don't have VR, but for that we also sometimes race in split screen. I remember once I gave him an old car with double the power, but serial suspension. I myself took something much slower. He was happy when at the start he overtook me with no problem, but at the first turn he started to roof, because the too soft suspension could not deal with the power :D I recommend you check out the Abarth 595 with a Honda engine, better tires, but stock suspension :D
Lol GT7 on a wheel with some beer and shots is one of my all time favorite things to do now. Terrible, but I crush my sober times when I have a good buzz 🤣
What you say s true forza pushed gt to do better in graphics and models and look were they are now .. best looking cargame on console if not on the entire market dont know of any other games looking this good
Played both games since the first iteration, was probably more a fan of Forza around FM3/FM4 but the latest release is just terrible imo, they've lost the plot with the CarXP stuff.
Biggest advantage for gran turismo is the support for vr where all those beautifully crafted cockpits are shown off in a proper way. Also kinda insane that gt7 looks that much better the FM even thought its running on a machine which costs like a thrid of that pc.
After gt6 the entire game went threw a big rebuild they made everything new the car models interiours tracks everything before this forza won in the graphics department so forza pushed GT devs to do better and they actually delivered the detail on cars is so unbelievbly high really tiny details are all there an example is in real life there is a small tube between your carwindows to let air in and out it is really smal and only in gran turismo the tube is actually there and inbetween the glass
I agree. I upgraded to PC around 6 years ago specifically to race in VR. I never looked back until I saw what they were able to do with PSVR2 and GT. Now I wish I could justify spending the money to buy a PS5 and PSVR2, but if I hadn't just bought a new PC, I'd be all over it. I really wish they'd release GT7 on PC and solve the problem for me.
What makes it even more interesting, keep in mind that with psvr2 support it's also crossgen meaning it had to be made also to run on ps4 aswell as ps5,imagine what it would look like if they only had to develop for ps5,spiderman 2 being a prime example what that means leaving last gen behind, the devs can go nuts in any possible way you can imagine!!
GTS and FM7 got released in the same week in 2017, so the time taken to develop the latest version of GT7 is same as time taken to develop the latest version of FM......in that sense, I am surprised just how underbaked FM 2023 really is
Forza Motorsport isn’t their cash cow, Forza Horizon is. They developed two Forza Horizons since then, they did not start developing this new Forza Motorsport in 2017, more likely 2 or 3 years ago with limited staff and then throwing more people on it after FH5 was released
@drchtct FH is developed by PGG, FM is developed by T10....T10 only works on car models and physics engine that gets shared between the two games but that's something they would have to work on for FM either way....so no, FM2023 started developing as soon as FM7 got released
@@vyasrushi5177 you miss the part of budget. Again, Forza Horizon is the cashcow, focus is on that one. For Sony, they put huge money in GT7 because it’s supposed to sell PS5s
Turn 10 was building the new game engine for Microsoft, ForzaTech. Motorsport was supposed to be the tech demo of the new engine.. and it kind of is, like half way. This is the new game engine for most games in development under Microsoft and took priority over Motorsport (obviously, the game engine has to work correctly). To the extent that they had to hire over 100 new people to help get it 'finished' on time. The next big release using ForzaTech is Fable, probably their biggest cash cow in the lineup. Between development on the new engine and Fable, Motorsport was put on the back burner. What was originally planned as a total ground up build turned into ground up framework filled with like 25% new content and recycled the rest to flesh out the game for release. It's not because the game devs don't care, or they aren't car enthusiasts.. it's simply money politics and studios that are owned by companies that only see dollars and have zero interest in the gaming community. This is the state of 99% of AAA games currently thanks to big corp.
@jwallace2913 considering how bad it looks compared to GT sports engine that was developed for PS4....It should get nominated for one of the worst game engine ever built
I really hoped motorsports would bring something..."more" to the table, but I'm not sure they did, hard to see in the undercooked state of it, which is a real shame. GT7 seems to be polished all around, not perfect of course, but does well enough to appreciate the details. GT7 needed some time to get to that level, here's hoping forza will get better with time too.
GT7 is a masterpiece created by artists who are true car guys that absolutely put their full effort forward in every aspect of the game, while FM was created by blue hair hippies who couldn’t care less. I’m a Forza fan by the way.
This is the reason for my great hope in Motorsport: GT7 was far from perfect when it came out, but it got progressively better and better. Motorsport is even undercoocked then that at its born, but I think it could become good with time, but they have to be fast: and if I have to be honest, the online racing is actually way better then FM7, because they looked at GT sport and GT7 and learned something. I'm giving them a chance.
@@RandomCommenter-qu2ocGT7 is a masterpiece? That's pretty biased and not true, the menu system is stupid for one, using reallife prices for used cars is also dumb. The game has a ton of expensive cars that are essentially useless and can't be used in any events. There's times you need to buy certain cars to complete a menu but oh wait, the used cars dealership only refresh once per day instead of after an event like previous GT games. That's nowhere near a masterpiece. Oh and there's the AI, super rubber bandy, every race you have a few laps to pass the entire field. The AI drives slow if you're behind them and really speeds things up when you're in front. You should be ashamed of yourself for thinking this is a masterpiece. I remember in older GT games you could either start by getting your license(s), get some cars that way, or buy a starting car and do no license/B license events (pending which game) and have some kind of freedom in what you want to do. GT7: here is your choice of 3 starter cars. OK now that you got one go collect the other 2 to fill up this menu. Give me a break calling GT7 a masterpiece. 5 was peak GT
I love both games equally. There are things about both that piss me off. Just today I got a reward in GT7 that ALLOWS me to BUY the car! Like really?!? I don’t get the car, but now I’m allowed to spend 1000000 credits to buy it. That just pisses me off 😂. The amount that cars cost is inexcusable. I have a full time job and school and other hobbies. I adore the new master licenses though. Chef’s kiss
We went from, "This game just released so it's superior to the older game, and that might make it an unfair comparison but.." to, "This game just released so it may not be polished like the older game, and have as many updates as the older games, so you might think this is an unfair comparison" Good lord
I don't know why he said Forza deserves time to grow because it's new. It doesn't deserve that time. It was in development for a long time. Microsoft charged a lot for it. It has been decontented to be sold back in parts. You can't deliver less than prior games and call it the greatest version ever. There are too many other options.
This is exactly why live service has been a bane on gaming and we shouldn't be called boomers to point this practice out- it allows devs to laze and cut out corners in the development process in order to just add them later to make us pretend the game is actually good now. And its not like Gran Turismo 7 is at all immune from it- just take a look back to how terrible its launch state was. But most of us have forgotten about that thanks to the patches and give Polyphony and Kaz a free pass for it.
@@fifteen8850 Only a Microsoft executive would say this. No Forza player thinks like this. The franchise worked great. Because of live service greed, they serve us a half-baked sequel with a bunch of stuff missing. Except the bugs. Those were carried over. The game is an insult to everyone but the most diehard Xbots.

Speaking of AWD systems since you mentioned it on 14:40 and it bothered me: Subaru (as well as GT-Rs) uses a longitudinally mounted engines for their AWD's. LanEvos, GR-Yaris, small Volkswagen Group cars etc. use transverse front mounted engine AWD's Large Audis use a longitudinally mounted engines mounted to a front transaxle. Basically Porsche 911 backwards. Transversely mounted mid-engine AWD is very rare, Peugeot 205 T16 had one, all currently made mid-engine AWD's use longitudinal setup.
This was my first VR game, and I can say as a kid obsessing over the r34 Gtr, buying every hot wheels version, diecast, and game it was ever in; being able to walk around it in life size scale and sit in it in VR fr made me tear up. Forza could never.
I have nothing but props to what Gran Turismo has been doing with this game, and I agree that Forza is very barebones and also in need of a lot of changes. I will say however, the multiplayer has kept me hooked for reasons unknown. The Forza GT series has been completely addicting and I've had a lot of great races with, shockingly, no dirty drivers.
6:11 keep in mind that a significant number of cars from forza's car list are recycled from older games and have completely innacurate 3d models that literally date back to 2006, where gran turismo completely started over with sport so all of the cars could be up to the same level of quality
Yes, I feel like that should've been mentioned. Those car models have been criticised for so many FH and FM entries and T10 just doesn't care. The cars like Golf R32 would be embarassing in 2014, how much more in 2023.
@@chaosclg mans really bought the _"built from the ground up"_ lies. The cars may have been retextured in each installment, but Forza rarely (if ever) update and remodel them; hell, they only remodeled *one* car (Subaru Impreza 22B) in this latest installment. Cars are missing because it's their usual "cut cars only to reintroduce them later in an update/DLC as a pretense of growth" practice that they've been doing for a decade now.
@@chaosclg no, * you * have no idea what your talking about. Its been well documented that tons of models in forza have had inaccuracies for multiple games in a row that dont get fixed, they just turn up the polygon count to make the model look smoother when they should really remake it because its literally from forza motorsport 2
It is, but it is so upscaled to get to 1440 that I really long for a pc version even more after the 120hz update. The checkerboarding can get especially bad under certain lighting conditions.
@12:40 GT7 has 4 picture modes actually. Digital Foundry did a video on the 120hz patch changes. 2 are hidden and are only if ur display supports VRR and then u can do 4k @90-100fps, then theres the 1440p 120fps locked. U have to enable VRR in ur PS5 settings and it automatically changes how the 2 settings in the game perform, when u have 120fps enabled in game. Basically if u have VRR u get significantly better peformance, its giving way more fps for no cost to graphics. They fixed drifting in GT7, its close to real life and assetto corsa now, idk in which update this happened havent been playing alot untill this update.
@@AKK5I1500p is if u want 120fps locked with no drop in fps. So doesnt matter if u have 4k or 1440p. If u have 1440p u might aswell have it in 120fps locked with vrr. The other VRR mode is 4k with some drop below 120fps.

@randomcallsign I think it’s two things, the raytraced photo mode/menus and the paint simulation. GT’s paint simulation seems to be leagues above Forza’s.
I have been delightfully surprised at the GR3 and 4 cars in GT7. Apparently these are the cars the physics model was based on. The higher downloaded cars of Group 3 are quite sensitive to ride height and suspension setup. If the height is too low and suspension too soft, the underbody aero effect is destroyed and grip dissappears quickly. Raise the height too much and stiffen the suspension too much and it's the same result in the opposite direction. Aero effect either isn't there, or is weird on straights, and dissappears under braking and turn in. Ir provides a very in depth challenge for the tuning forks of racing enthusiasm. But simply having cars that have both grip, and speed, at the same time. Very nice, and realistic. Unlike Project Cars, where it's one or the other, never both.
I got into GT when it came out and my friends and I were as serious as you could get with the customization and races as you can get. Gran Turismo is the ultimate driving simulator to me
absolutely loved the nostalgic old forza and GT music you were playing in the background, really nice touch that might go unnoticed... I have been trying to decide between these two as my main sim and this really helped! great vid.
Gran turismo is trying things, but those tries sometimes fail (cafe menus, roulette tickets, vision gt) Forza doesn’t try nearly as much, i literally don’t know the difference between fm5 and fm7 beyond amount of content, but that also means they stumble bit less, but when they do it’s pretty bad (fm5, car xp having to be scaled way back after few weeks)
There should be a third contender in the Simcade market tbh, that can combine the good aspects from both Forza and GT without suffering from inconsistencies that both franchises have known for
@@fikridroidSeriously. Imagine a game with GT’s level of driving physics, graphics and presentation, tuning, attention to detail, and realism, combined with Forza’s car list and variety, and combined with need for speed’s level of customization and exploration. It would be incredible to have a semi-open world car game where you could still enter races at real life tracks, but also hang out with your friends on the streets. Sounds like a car guy’s dream lol
I like the little things like the hopeless factory clutch compared to much faster capability after upgrades. I imagine some people probably think it's a glitch that you have to shift like your driving an 88 Yugo until you upgrade the full assembly

If I could afford it I would have both.
@@ncpyro2464 yeah I know that but I would much rather they put those 3 months into a race car instead of horrible VGTs. Also most of them were just copy and paste from GT Sport so they didn't need 3 months to do the fine detail of an upgrade, they would have had most of it done already.

A detail on GT7's standard driver ai, It can actually be rather competent if given the chance to shine (see: Clubman Cup Plus), and makes for really fun racing. It's a problem of game design - The ai are artificially limited for most of the singleplayer campaign.
GT7 just cemented its place with the latest update. Even at launch GT7 didn't have the bugs and issues that Forza has. GT7 had big economy issues but zero bugs and polished.

I think the customisation comparison was kind of off in this video. FM has got the same Forza Aero on most cars and that's it. In GT7 on most cars you can get a custom racing wing and many more subtle adjustments like license plate placement or type, the rollcage design, light color adjustment, etc. I couldn't say that Forza has better customisation, even just because they claim for the game to be made from the ground up while still being stuck with the abomination of Forza Aero...

great review of the two games. I would like to make one technical correction, Subaru's are not transverse awd they are longitudinal awd and they still push. It is more a product of how they vector TQ then the physical layout.
It's quite the feat that both game drop the ball in the same thing, progression. GT7's cafe system has been heavily criticised for being a lot a less engagin etc., and lacking races for every groups and such that is the norm for GT. FM fails in their caRPG, in which I don't mind the concept, however is executed in a way that becomes monotonous & less forza like. Both I feel have great driving for simcade (though FM is lacking good wheel support), but neither I would say are great games within their respective series, but they could be if their progression alone was improved.

@@leiferikson7052 fun factor is always king for games. For me it's hard to have fun when a game feels like a chore which both games do to a certain extent and if the game isn't stable. I play FM on PC. It crashes too much for me to even bother playing and the progression system is similar to Project CARS 3 and I vastly prefer PCARS 3 for it's single player part especially with it's weather, FPV, sounds, AI that doesn't try to kill you and physics (this is a preference). Multiplayer on PCARS 3 is dead, didn't try it. Forza can look good, but it's not consistent, stability is an issue on PC, ray tracing isn't real for the most part and some cars are missing even though they clearly reused models so why not reuse all of it (DLC probably). So it needs alot of marinating before I give it another go. About the ray tracing part. It looks worse with it on, it lowers FPS and it still uses Screen space reflections. So it's essentially useless. Needs fixing.
After playing GT7 for a year or so and having bought Forza Motorsport near launch, I can subjectively say GT7 is better in every regard. I also recently got a VR2 and now GT7 is even better. I'm struggling to find something that FM does better over GT7. Also also, the multiplayer scene is vastly different in each game. GT7 has more serious racers it seems while FM caters to the more arcadey side. Sooo much ramming in FM. I hung my hat up on FM multiplayer. I was getting so frustrated by every race being destroyed by rammers. Unless you start at the begging to mid pack, you're in for a world of pain come any T1 lol. There's definitely dirty drivers in GT7 no doubt, just less imo.
On the point about customisation - the options available in GT, while limited, are all based on tried and tested and fully known variables or have been calculated with as much real world engineering and factual parameters on the whole (maybe not price) where as I highly doubt that the options in the Forza titles have had more than the basic research for the major selections ie drivetrain change and non model based engine transplants, so less of realism is still a win compared to the fantasy plethora that Forza offers. Then again that is basically what Forza has always been about compared to the real driving simulator. NB - a K series engine is in no way unrealistic for transplanting in to another Honda. The theoretical top speed is about the gearing not the swap.
@@illmill3639they only have like 70 more and half of those 500 cars are literally ported from Forza Motorsport 2, so, If they didn't even update the models, why would they even extensively research about cars that doesn't even look like the ones in real life?

Forza will never be able to beat GT, no racing games will in their totality. There is a love of the automobile, its history and its culture that GT is able to convey that no other racing game manages to do. There is a sophistication to its presentation that most other games lack. From understanding its old school roots (like the little car wash guy animation) to embracing new technologies like VR, there is a personality to GT that makes it holy unique. GT isn’t without its issues but as a complete package and succeeding upon its vision, it is untouchable and arguably the most important driving series there will ever be.
What sets GT apart is that it started with a vision from one man and he is still on the same mission to complete that vision. He’s been creating the world of GT, as we often Joke about how GT isn’t a simulation I would say it is a “driving simulation” as they do a good job to simulate a world around driving. I don’t think it’s an actual racing sim with the lack of damage but driving sim for sure!

Great review! As an Xbox player, I bought FM at launch and was hopeful. Some additions are nice (tire wear, fuel, dynamic weather/time, all things GT has had for some time now), but overall it feels like an update to FM7 rather than a whole new game "from the ground up" as they claimed. I know updates will improve things over time, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking at buying a PS5 to get on the GT7 train. Something about those graphics...

I think the only way for forza to regain their reputation is to create a big patch for the forza motorsport 2023. A patch that overhauls their steering physics and make their ghosting more predictive and sensible to avoid the infamous forza corner mayhem. These 2 things seems to be small but it created a big impact to the game that fixing it will most likely make people want to play it again especially in the multiplayer platform.
@@jwallace2913 Its still more arcady than being close to simulation. Nothing wrong with it but they should have at least kept that kind of physics in horizon and they should have made motorsport steering more close to simulation. All the cars in the game turns by sliding unusually which is not consistent to reality in most of the cars in the game. It just means that the car turning physics has some fixed programming for all the vehicles to turn that way. You can see lots of youtube videos confirming this issue. They can still make the steering physics close to simulation without making it difficult to play with just a controller. I believe they can still do this if they want to considering they have great programmers.
Nice comparison mr random ! im no fanboy and never owned a forza game since the original xbox but with a reasonably beefy pc@120fps 4k i have really enjoyed my time in forza ... hopefully better optimization will help more people get to enjoy the game without performance troubles they are having. FFB stock isnt very good ,but tweaked is like night and day. there are some problems AI is a bit 'hit' and miss and visually it can be amazing or wtf ! good to see both developers pushing each other so we get closer to 'real' racing.
I have been playing GT7 since launch on PS5, as well as FM in XBSX, and for all the crap I threw to GT in all these months, I was very excited for FM. That said, GT has a lot to improve (and the worse thing is that some of the most important stuff it needs to improve is right there, in the game's history. More events/tournaments that make use of all your collection!), but one thing I never doubted is that it looks really good. I had very high expectations for FM since it was more time in development and has launched exclusively in current gen consoles, so no optimisation or compromise had to be made for older generations. Considering that, I can take away two things: - I am very excited for whatever GT comes next exclusively for current consoles (or with them as a base) - I am very disappointed with how FM looks at some times, as well as how good it looks other times. The mix and match of car model quality is horrid. It reminds me to when people add modded cars into PC games, which obviously have different levels of details/effort. And then, some weather effects are so, so good (when you have a patch of free sky where the sun shines through into the road of an otherwise cloudy day, for example) Being a video game fan, I just want both to be the best they can be. At this point, GT is much closer (and has it much easier) than Forza, if you ask me. And I didn't even talk about the progress losing bugs that made me drop Forza for 1/3 of a month to see if they fixed it.
I haven't tried a gt game in years but in judging drivability in a sim rig Forza is the best it's ever been. I'm a an AC, ACC, RF2 focused racer and while it's clearly none of those it's come a long way from being a gamepad focused racer. It might not be better than anything else but it's better than it's ever been with a wheel
I have a real car simulator at home to play Iracing, acc, automobilista and others. I have the Xbox series to play Forza M. But, after buying the VR2 for the PS5, GT7 is the only car Simulator I want to play. Considering game history, content, graphics, physics and general information, GT7 is currently the BEST ONE for me.
12:35 Important note on performance and overall… GT7 is CROSSGEN!!! This is not even a full on next gen game. Environments all in GT7 can feel low poly and low detail and I think it makes performance easier as they were not pushing the limits. I think we will have to wait for GT8 to really push the limits.
Frist of all I played both a lot and I enjoy the multiplayer in both but Forza feels better to me, more raw and not so hyperclean like gt7. I love the way they go with training/qualifying/race and maybe I’m the only one but I really like the leveling system. If it wouldn’t exits i probably would dump cars a lot quicker and would not give them a chance. But after playing a of them mp only in tc or gt class. I found my car and even sat down to create my own livery. But of course the game by now is in a awful condition but I’m looking forward for the 2.0 update. This game has a lot of potential!
Forza feels awful with a wheel, but feels pretty good on a controller. GT7 manages to do both pretty good. Hope Forza will be able to improve they're wheel FFB in some future updates as i got room for both these games.
If you don't like the 'clean feel ' this means your prefer arcade racing. GT7 is a pure simulator, designed from the ground up for every single car in that game.
I'm sorry... 11:30 The cage... what is that hole? I'm assuming you're playing with ray tracing on forza, right? so why is there no shadow on the cluster from the shield above it? T10 really did not account for people with ADHD and ADD issues. Because people with these kind of conditions will look at these details and can not look away anymore. The game can handle like it could cure cancer, but my god, this stuff triggers me so hard.
I’m fortunate enough to have XSX and PS5 and I love Forza but I’ve played GT since PS1 and although I’m disappointed with GT7’s car lineup, Forza can’t hope to compete with GT7 on PSVR2! It is unbelievable and it never stops being unbelievable and about 400 times more immersive. Apart from g-forces it’s real. Just looking over at the car next to you is freaking incredible and the accuracy of nose-to-tail and side to side gaps is mind blowing. If XSX had VR for Forza then it would absolutely compete. (Plus my irl car has been in every GT since 3 but now it’s not in 7 but it IS in Forza😢 so I will have to get a PC for that)
Absolutely no contest!!!! No doubt!! 1 started in 97'!!! Yes GT reigns supreme....... Forza is only in it for GTs market share and has been following in GTs footsteps eversince........ GT forges ahead...... GT is massive in the industry, GT creates racing drivers! GT was ahead when creating GT academy! GT works closely with the industry! GT works closely with Wheel manufacturers! Vision GT cars! PD has created real life car dashboards! 2 now with Toyota! Now GT and Sophy!!! not forgetting GT Esport! Yes GT has stalled the last 2 or 3 versions, due to ambition of both Sony and PD..... No surprise that GT5 / 6 stumbled paralleling the PS3 and PS4 just wasnt as powerful CPU wise for what PD wanted to do Forza wishes it has the detail, passion and dedication of PDs behemoth! 1 is a juggernaught the other is just a pretender!
Make a copy of your statements here and look back at it after about 10. Wonder how you will look back at your post 😂 GT! GT! GT! Polyphony! GT! GT! Behemoth! GT! GT! GT! Juggernauth! GT! GT!
@@vennemans9113 Why don't YOU look back at your comments in 10 years? I play all the serious simracers too, but I don't act all elitist about it. You keep shitting on all these Forza/GT enjoyers for no reason and it's people like you who give us a bad name. Gran Turismo walked so ACC, iRacing, RF2, and so on can run. Grow up dude.
I play GT7 on PS5 on a massive 85" TV with a Logitech G923. (I don't own them, i play on it once in a while) I hit the nordschleife with various cars, and honestly hitting that track, shifting through the gears whether a rumbling V8 or a screaming V12 gives me shivers. I purchased the Ferrari F12, one of my favourite "modern" supercars and to put it simply the "game" made me tear up full of joy and excitement.
GT7 is the best automotive game in the market if we look to the whole package. VR, Graphics, number of cars, level of detail, simulation, physics, campaign, multiplayer, support and so on. Looking at GT7, the evolution from GT Sports, makes me believe that GT8 will be a Beast.
After spending a week watching videos of GT7 and the new Forza Motorsport game, the clear winner to me is GT7. The amount of detail and love put into the game will never be matched by the Forza developers. Yes, GT7 has a smaller car list but every car has its personality, each cars feels different. In Forza, the cars feel all the same. They didn't receive the love they deserve. GT7 feels more like a love letter to car enthusiasts rather than a "mass produced" unfinished mess of a game.
I've been playing GT since the beginning. Since the 1st one. I never missed every single edition after that. I love cars and cars game. At one stage I bought XBOX as well because I want to play FM to be able to taste car costumization. And now I have PSVR2. And... whatever everything else out there, good or bad, for me, PSVR2 and GT7 is like a match made in heaven... at lease for me!
FM8 physics is okay if you mostly do the multiplayer spec series, but falls apart in situations where you can't tune a car and are forced to use street tires (like Logitech Rivals). The FFB varies a lot based on the car and also the track. Some cars have dead, lifeless steering no matter what you do, and some tracks have very little feel (some Suzuka curbs have no geometry, for instance) while some tracks are a bit better. Overall, the game is very inconsistent with the information it gives you via the wheel and its apparent that wheels were an afterthought for Turn 10. As someone who is mostly interested in multiplayer races, the CarPG nature of the game is extremely annoying. I don't need to form a long term committed relationship with every fucking car in a game that has 500 cars! /rant Oh, also, slight correction, but Subarus have longitudinal boxer engines, not transverse.
Gran Turismo 7 instead went for the Pokédex collection, but you can still argue you're evolving your starter with the tuning, just without the pain of grinding at Victory Road... I mean, at the release we were even making jokes about how the start of the game feels like the start of a Pokémon game, some people even making arguments for which type the Aqua, Demio and Fit were!
Hard disagree on the physics being a "draw". GT7 is probably the best simcade when it comes to physics (I'd categorize ACC, iRacing, etc, as sims, not simcade). Forza is barely a simcade at all, with floaty cars where an FF will oversteer almost as much as an RR.
Nah bro GT has the floaty cars. Has unrealistic physocs as well. Literally can’t drive the car realistically without spinning. Or locking up the tires for on a fucking street car at 20mph. Like you can literally spin out any car in the game and lock the tires on any car in the game if you apply to much pressure on the breaks or accelerator. That’s not how it works in real life.
@@dutyrover946 You just showed you either haven't played the game or that a more accurate simulation (not a full simulator) supercedes what Forza, an arcade, offers. > Literally can’t drive the car realistically without spinning. Plenty of people can drive in the game without spinning, and any decent player will not even enable TCS. FF cars understeer, FR / MR / RR cars oversteer, and 4WD cars are mostly stable unless you tune them for oversteer or understeer. > Or locking up the tires for on a fucking street car at 20mph. This is false. All cars in GT7 have ABS, and no, they do not lock the tires. You have no idea how to trail break, and it shows. > Like you can literally spin out any car in the game and lock the tires on any car in the game if you apply to much pressure on the breaks or accelerator. No you can't. > That’s not how it works in real life. That's also not how it works in GT7.
@@DraculVaDomni666I think the big difference for me is how the cars react when they make contact, on Forza the cars feel like they’re rubbing on GT the feel like bumper cars. It’s such a turn off and don’t say “we’ll your not supposed to touch each other” racing is rubbing and rubbing is racing
Have you even tried both on wheel ? If not your opinion is invalid, Forza has better FFB and feels more raw than GT7, what that other dude said is bs it’s actually the opposite with GT7, with the right tune the cars are so easy (too easy) drive. Unless you use comfort tyres the cars won’t spin at all, in Forza you actually need to be careful with your driving. Imo Forza has better physics and I’m coming from Assetto and iRacing.
I had GT3 way back in the day, and have always been impressed. Getting a ps5 soon so I think I’m gonna get GT7. You can just tell they have so much pride in development
Certainly agree regarding the state of the games, however i have struggled to get immersed into GT's for a long time, mainly the lack of bonnet cam is a dealbreaker, i just cant get a long with bumper or roof cam. The other thing keeping me on FM is the variety of MP, they have all these amazing cars in GT7 but then limit the MP so much in the daily races, I mean they released the 190E in the last release, with no way of racing it in the daily races, yet I saw a few popping up in the D class races in FM. This week ive been levelling up the new gen mustangs to try and replicate a Gen 3 supercar, and racing it in the S class lobbies is a blast, when 1.40 was teased I though maybe PD were going to try match this variety but no dice, ive fired up GT7 a couple of times since but I honestly dont have much reason to, i'm not going to bother grinding for cars that serve no purpose outside of single player
sorry to be that guy but i don't get what bonnet cam has to do with "immersion". you don't ride your car out on the front bonnet in real life do you? it is true that it is a much easier camera view and more efficient as far as gaming goes due to lack of things blocking your sight and a narrow fov giving you a more accurate sense of speed. but as far as realism and immersion goes, the interior of your car does in fact take much of your view.
@@rzt430 happy to explain, so first of all I'm driving on a wheel primarily, so ideally I can turn off the wheel in cockpit mode, FM has a view which hides the wheel, which I use a lot. Secondly, I've got a 34" ultrawide, so while it gives me a decent view, it's obviously much smaller than a real windscreen, when you are then driving a proper race car which have low visibility in cockpit mode in game, then most of the screen is taken up by the cockpit, unless you have triples, I don't think that's particularly ideal. So basically, hood cam on race cars provides the best combination of visibility and immersion, I would more often use the dash view in FM except it often hides the rear view mirror, which is obviously not ideal. If I compare then to GT, for me, bumper cam is too low, and roof cam is too high, both of these views aren't supposed to simulate eye level, which leaves cockpit view, but cockpit view just obscures so much of the screen, especially when we're limited to 16:9
@@syphe0 that makes a lot of sense with that setup, thanks for explaining. i play with vr so generally i use cockpit view. i didnt think about how strange it would be to have a wheel in front of you and on your screen simultaneously lol but now i know and cant unsee it in my mind
I’m a car guy. Grew up in my fathers dealership. I’ve built many and have played games a long time since I’m 44 now. Gt1 to gt7 which I just got vr for Christmas. It is the actual driver/mechanic simulator. Everything else is playing games. I still think it could be better.
The thing I hate about Forzas driving model is the rear wheel drive cars. They feel like on ice, it's so annoying. I'm pretty confident this was done to further emphasize the meaning of suspension / tire upgrades, however even low powered, stock RWD cars behave like they are broken.
Forzas constant understeer feeling as a sad fakery of real driving physics and mechanics is just gross. The physics in Forza are so inferior its not even worth comparing to Gt7.
The Cafe is phenomenal. I looked forward to reading every story about EVERY menu they had to offer. Now I’m excited about getting the extra menus done and it’s just as good.
I don't get how people are still making these types of videos literally over a month after the games release. In all honesty, they're both great games. I took the time to read some comments and I can already tell half of u are lying about either game to make it seem better than the other. Whether u support GT7 or FM8, we can all come together to appreciate the work they put in to make their games as great and enjoyable as possible. This war is stupid and no game is better than the other. They might have stronger aspects than the other but that doesn't make it a better game nonetheless. We're all here to play GT7 and FM8 not have a civil war about which one is better.
I can't say I feel the car choice comparison has been fairly made here. GT7 is pumping up its list of cars artificially by giving me 3-4 identical race cars with different liveries while for example Audi is missing all RS models, Mercedes has like 2 or 3 AMGs, most of the JDM legends are missing too. If it was supposed to be a car collector's game then it really came out shit on the list of cars to collect.. every time I wanted to take a car I always liked but couldn't afford, it wasn't there
This is the first i've heard of stuttering on pc in forza. I'm getting over 100fps in 4k native, not using any DLSS. I think Forza's tuning options are more comprehensive and make bigger influences on the car's behaviour. GT7 seems to be a bit more polished overall.

It feels like polyphony actually have a passion for cars and want to show off that passion through the game. Turn 10 seem to have no passion at all. How can you approve and be proud of 15 year old 3d car models...
Yeag. That damn Silvia model is from first Forza, from 2005
that´s the main issue im having with forza.
The thing is, they could have been completely transparent and the long time fans would have been okay, but instead of that they lied.
Why do you people keep. The VR version of gran turismo is the game changer for me. As someone who doesnt get a chance to be around these beautiful cars, the chance to walk around a mclaren f1, or to sit in it made me tear up.

As a GT fan I was hoping Forza could innovate on the simcade market, because competition improves everyone
I love Forza as a series. Played the heck out of 3 and 4. I wish the updates will improve FM.
I remember when I first played forza Motorsport 3 on my 360. I thought it was so nice at the time it was actually fun to play.
Agree I just want the best games Success breeds success my man or it should do
What you say s true forza pushed gt to do better in graphics and models and look were they are now .. best looking cargame on console if not on the entire market dont know of any other games looking this good
Played both games since the first iteration, was probably more a fan of Forza around FM3/FM4 but the latest release is just terrible imo, they've lost the plot with the CarXP stuff.
Yeah, Forza is horribly optimized for PC. It’s a shitload better on consoles right now
@@rjo78
Lol what?!!
PSVR2 *is not* cross gen. It's PS5 only.
I’m a Forza fan by the way.
why you will play Forza when you got GT7?
This is the reason for my great hope in Motorsport: GT7 was far from perfect when it came out, but it got progressively better and better. Motorsport is even undercoocked then that at its born, but I think it could become good with time, but they have to be fast: and if I have to be honest, the online racing is actually way better then FM7, because they looked at GT sport and GT7 and learned something. I'm giving them a chance.
@@RandomCommenter-qu2oclol sure
Chef’s kiss
We went from, "This game just released so it's superior to the older game, and that might make it an unfair comparison but.."
to, "This game just released so it may not be polished like the older game, and have as many updates as the older games, so you might think this is an unfair comparison"
Good lord
@eugenehavens exactly, 6 years of development and the game us still unfinished. That's actually crazy

My only gripe is GT is I would like to see previous content return such as the Lotus brand and some of the tracks such as Seattle, New York and Soul.

Speaking of AWD systems since you mentioned it on 14:40 and it bothered me:
Subaru (as well as GT-Rs) uses a longitudinally mounted engines for their AWD's.
LanEvos, GR-Yaris, small Volkswagen Group cars etc. use transverse front mounted engine AWD's
Large Audis use a longitudinally mounted engines mounted to a front transaxle. Basically Porsche 911 backwards.
Transversely mounted mid-engine AWD is very rare, Peugeot 205 T16 had one, all currently made mid-engine AWD's use longitudinal setup.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that comment bothered

I will say however, the multiplayer has kept me hooked for reasons unknown. The Forza GT series has been completely addicting and I've had a lot of great races with, shockingly, no dirty drivers.
Don't do multiplayer, however fm has changed that, I've only spent a hour or so on career which says it all 4:22
6:11 keep in mind that a significant number of cars from forza's car list are recycled from older games and have completely innacurate 3d models that literally date back to 2006, where gran turismo completely started over with sport so all of the cars could be up to the same level of quality
Yes, I feel like that should've been mentioned. Those car models have been criticised for so many FH and FM entries and T10 just doesn't care. The cars like Golf R32 would be embarassing in 2014, how much more in 2023.
They literally dont though they were all redone and thats why there are so many cars missing you have no idea what youre talking about
@@chaosclg mans really bought the _"built from the ground up"_ lies.

1440p at 120 FPS VRR on GT is pretty smooth.
Is 1500p for 4k only or 1440p monitors

Considering that, I can take away two things:
- I am very excited for whatever GT comes next exclusively for current consoles (or with them as a base)
- I am very disappointed with how FM looks at some times, as well as how good it looks other times. The mix and match of car model quality is horrid. It reminds me to when people add modded cars into PC games, which obviously have different levels of details/effort. And then, some weather effects are so, so good (when you have a patch of free sky where the sun shines through into the road of an otherwise cloudy day, for example)
Being a video game fan, I just want both to be the best they can be.

The game can handle like it could cure cancer, but my god, this stuff triggers me so hard.
Ahhhgggggg
Can't unsee now
Its just your average run of the mill octagonal hole in roll cages
I’m fortunate enough to have XSX and PS5 and I love Forza but I’ve played GT since PS1 and although I’m disappointed with GT7’s car lineup, Forza can’t hope to compete with GT7 on PSVR2!
It is unbelievable and it never stops being unbelievable and about 400 times more immersive.
Apart from g-forces it’s real.
Just looking over at the car next to you is freaking incredible and the accuracy of nose-to-tail and side to side gaps is mind blowing.
If XSX had VR for Forza then it would absolutely compete. (Plus my irl car has been in every GT since 3 but now it’s not in 7 but it IS in Forza😢 so I will have to get a PC for that)
I feel graphics is really the only thing holding some ppl back from forza and that’s all GT has focused on since the beginning!
11:00 look at those audience popping in and out, this some issue with the replay of the game
Psvr2 on gt7 is simply absolutely incredible
No surprise that GT5 / 6 stumbled paralleling the PS3 and PS4 just wasnt as powerful CPU wise for what PD wanted to do
Forza wishes it has the detail, passion and dedication of PDs behemoth! 1 is a juggernaught the other is just a pretender!
Make a copy of your statements here and look back at it after about 10. Wonder how you will look back at your post 😂
GT! GT! GT! Polyphony! GT! GT! Behemoth! GT! GT!
No.
@@FiatUno2003you spent weeks watching videos but didn’t play it yourself? You just a biased opinion based on biased opinions 😂
I mean that’s been the goal of the creator since the inception, GT7 is literally just and updated GT1 !
The most detailed comparison that i have seen. Thanks!
As someone who doesn´t know that much about car culture, the Menu completion videos were one of my favorite parts of the campaign
/rant
Oh, also, slight correction, but Subarus have longitudinal boxer engines, not transverse.
The Pokémon style of car upgrades isn't always bad ..
Most wanted 2012 had it but is was just 5-6 races to peak a car.
@@maitreyoda7404 you're insane if you think forza has better physics 😄
Also dropped a like, cheers
sorry to be that guy but i don't get what bonnet cam has to do with "immersion". you don't ride your car out on the front bonnet in real life do you?
it is true that it is a much easier camera view and more efficient as far as gaming goes due to lack of things blocking your sight and a narrow fov giving you a more accurate sense of speed. but as far as realism and immersion goes, the interior of your car does in fact take much of your view.
This new forza has been a massive disappointment for me, hopefully some updates can improve it alot.
0:32 im happy! Im feeling glad, i got sunshine; in a bag. God im useless but ....
As a long time Forza player, FM8 is shameful.
I’m a car guy. Grew up in my fathers dealership. I’ve built many and have played games a long time since I’m 44 now. Gt1 to gt7 which I just got vr for Christmas. It is the actual driver/mechanic simulator. Everything else is playing games. I still think it could be better.
I’m Xbox over PlayStation but GT has always been better then forza if we’re being honest
I like Forza but Gran Turismo I have played since its inception. I wish they did the 1000 cars again. I love collecting. But Turismo is just fun.
im surprised you didnt touch on fm only having h pattern gearboxes on all cars. they dont know how to handle sequentials.
Wdym? You mean the shift speeds?
I Found your channel today and subscribed to it today 👍
In my opinion I love gt7s haptic feedback and the way they use the motors in the control so you feel every bump.
granturismo is miles away
yeah behind in the driving and real feel.
The attention to details on GT7 is extraordinary
Gran turismo was created by car lovers for car lovers... forza was created, so that microsoft can have a gran turismo clone.
and yet fh5 still miles better than gt
The Cafe is phenomenal. I looked forward to reading every story about EVERY menu they had to offer. Now I’m excited about getting the extra menus done and it’s just as good.
forza doesnt come close to gt7 as an overall package
I can agree on this even tho I enjoy racing on forza more
That FM3 music playing in the background gonna make me cry
I cant go back to gt7 after forza. The driving physics feel way better.
Hopefully your playing it on a PC as no-one can be happy with Xbox this gen

I don't get how people are still making these types of videos literally over a month after the games release. In all honesty, they're both great games. I took the time to read some comments and I can already tell half of u are lying about either game to make it seem better than the other. Whether u support GT7 or FM8, we can all come together to appreciate the work they put in to make their games as great and enjoyable as possible. This war is stupid and no game is better than the other. They might have stronger aspects than the other but that doesn't make it a better game nonetheless. We're all here to play GT7 and FM8 not have a civil war about which one is better.
this!
Yeah, if anything, I prefer the DF comparison vid for that reason alone even if they favor GT7
