Using shameful rammers to your advantage feels great tho. Last night in a race I was in P4 on the last lap just behind P2 and P3 but there was a "butcher" just behind me and he had like 3 seconds of penalties so I just moved out of his way with the hopes that he murders the guys in front. And he sent them into the shadow realm straight away so I crossed the line in P3 but because of his penalties, I got P2. Truly magnificent.
I managed to qualify on p4 yesterday but the 2 guys behind me were rammers. I lost 2 positions to them and tried recovering...towards the end of the race they were still fighting for p4. I managed to squeeze my way through them and claim p4, while they now fought for p5...i think they ended up getting p10, though i didn't gain any position i didn't lose any either, so win win for me i suppose.
Yeah, sometimes I let rammers pass me for the same reason. Often I can predict they won’t break, therefore better let them go and cause carnage to the guys ahead. Normally I lose one position to soon after earn 2-3. 😂
While I'm aware Forza was never meant to be a true sim, it's the carnage of the online racing environment that ultimately drew me to iracing. The SR system does a pretty good job of at least persuading drivers attempt to follow etiquette on track. It'd be nice to see Forza adopt their own similar system, even if it's in limited lobbies. That being said, I've owned every iteration of Forza and have enjoyed thousands of gameplay hours over the years, and will no doubt enjoy this version for what it is and not view it through the lens of other games it's not attempting to be.
@@mwrench4185 not only that, but the off-track penalties are so inconsistent, I could cut a corner in Catalunya and get no penalties, 3 laps later, I miss the apex again, and bam, 4 second penalty.
@@joshuawhelan9358I’ve had the same thing happen so many times. Yesterday there was a guy in 3rd literally brake checking me trying to force a penalty. I eventually manuevered around him and he spun out. But I didn’t expect to see someone doing that. Especially since he held the fastest lap time in qualifying and I thought he’d be a better sport.

Brilliant idea: Scrum Lap. Have a mode where the first lap is door-banging wreckfest levels of carnage for position, as opposed to traditional qualifying. After the first person makes it to lap 2, positions are set, penalties are activated, and hopefully everyone got the violence out of their system by then.

Seems like the rammers tend to spin out much worse than those trying to drive clean (could just be great driving by Super GT too). It would be so great to see a game where the rammers go flying into the barrier while the cars on the track driving in the right direction barely move. In other "realistic" games rammers punt you into the barrier or PIT maneuver you into the wrong direction, ending your race, while they get a .5 second penalty and stay on the track.
I haven’t raced much in actual racing games like this but I raced a lot on GTA online for the PS3/PS4 and iirc my record was like 360 wins to 310 losses which, in my humble opinion, is insanely amazing considering even 2nd place is a loss. And I attribute that solely to the fact that I had the fastest car in the game (the koenigsegg, whatever that was called in the game) and the fact that I could “read” people and see when they were going to spin me out or ram me. My favorite thing was to wait until they were at my rear quarter panel and as they moved in to put me I would slam on my brakes so they would end up pitting themselves… it was great fun.

As a lifelong Gran Turismo player coming to Forza for the first time, the online etiquette is simply mind-boggling poor. Zero respect for other players. The dirtiest absolute gutter trash drivers of GT titles of the past are on par with your average Forza driver. It is incomprehensible. But I have noticed something jarring about the physics of Forza. It's as if the developers understand their community is of a younger demographic and want more of an arcade experience. Whenever contact happens, the cars make a loud, noticeable bang but you really don't get shunted off-line too far. It's as if there exists a physics qwerk to limit sliding from shunts. This warrants and encourages more aggressive driving. You can torpedo other drivers and the penalty is minimal. In GT, these shunts would result in both cars ending up in the grand stands. I propose two solutions: 1) More realistic crash physics. The slightest of bumps when racing side by side on the limit should result in heavy slides as it does in GT. Torpedo shunts should result in massive slides the length of football fields like in other titles, as opposed to 10-20m slides in Forza. In time this will result in cleaner racing. Consequences for your actions. See 11:58 and 12:28. The lead Porsche is under lateral load but doesn't really slide off-line much. I'm certain these impacts would result in game over in GT. 2) Disable the driving line in ranked lobbies. Too many people hood watch the line and stare down the braking point to the point they completely neglect their trajectory through the corner, negating both their exit and cars around them. Driving like a short-sighted rat will never allow you to improve. You must glance at the braking point, then the apex followed by the majority of your focus on the exit. Most people don't focus beyond the braking point and view hitting the apex as the end-all be-all. I have witnessed drivers continually turn well beyond the apex, running me off on the inside simply because they missed the apex and are desperately trying to "hit it" even though they passed it 5 or 10m ago instead of maximizing their yield and floating to the exit. Physics are hard determined. The current location and angle of your car was pre-determined by your inputs a few seconds prior. If you miss an apex, taking a wider slice out of the corner you fix it by braking and turning in earlier next time. Once it's gone it's gone. "Here is gone." Meaning, where your car is now, is "gone." Nothing you can do but manage and maximize your yield of whatever amount of track-width remains at your disposal toward the exit. Bonus: An icon next to each driver indicating the usage of either a wheel or controller. Controllers are tutorial mode, regardless if your steering setting is simulation. Active steering cannot be turned off with a controller; it is a speed sensitive steering setting that does all it can to keep your pedal inputs in phase with your steering. You are simply telling the AI: left or right and it facilitates both the rate and amount of steering angle for your current speed. Just how the manual is facilitated by the AI. Just like traction control and ABS. What TC and ABS is to your pedals, is what active steering is to your steering and this cannot be disabled when using a controller. It is the biggest driving aid by a country mile, and nobody seems to know or understand this. It limits your steering, just how TC limits your throttle and ABS limits your brake.

Man, I have been hearing so much about how great the multiplayer is and in my experience I get knocked around spun out and rammed constantly and these people get no penalties. I have S class safety I don’t understand why these rating are in place if you’re not placed in lobbies with other individuals with this same rank.

Out of my 8 or so online races I have been rammed off the track from near first to last on first lap every time. I started with S-4200 am now S-1800, never had a penalty aside from small offtracks. I think I'm going to go play iracing for a month, hopefully safety rating actually means something when I come back (I assume its because its new everyone is everywhere)

I really enjoy this game online. I have a skill rating of 4800 and safety of A. Which for me being a noob is amazing lol. But I feel like I’m the only person or has any kind of spacial awareness. I always get hit off or pushed off from behind. Really hope some how something gets done about it
