    Why would you want to shoot a giant death laser powered by the blood of the sun god? Why would you NOT want to?
    This whole area was a big treat for me, since I played a cleric of Lathander my first time through with no knowledge of the existence of this area. I used the hidden artifact from here for the rest of the game.
    I really didn't want to fight the giant eagles, but I couldn't find a way around it.
    So, DM - does the existence of a drunken kobold within the barrel of firewine increase or decrease its value? :D

    I love the Kobold winery. I always make sure to grab a couple barrels 'o Kobold wine for later. Sometimes you just need an instant wine soaked Kobold for shenanigans.
    PS There's a non-combat Kobold further along in the game, he has lots of lovely treatos.

    The drunken Kobolds encounter was the one time I regretted getting Everburn in the Illithid ship. Lae'zel critted one, only for it to explode, setting multiple barrels and spilt wine aflame.

    It seems that Darkness and Fog are now meant as hostile actions, it has been changed in some of patches, definitely it was possible to use it earlier as a cover.

    Kobolds are angry drunks apparently. The drunk ones in the barrels could be called party poppers.

    I tried using mage hand to move the hammer out of the nest, and they instantly aggroed as soon as the hammer was touched. I get the feeling that Larian doesn't want players to resolve the matter peacefully.

      From what I can tell, Larian decided to recently crack down on a lot of the more common ways to exploit and/or steal from NPCs in general and this is part of it.
      It does feel pretty over the top given that several of these spells previously had non-combat utility, but will now cause NPCs to go berserk and attack you.

    Wouldn't Karlach have set the spirits alight? Would have been epic if just her walking into the room causes massive BOOM ;)

    I mean... if a heavily armed party snuck into my nest and then I saw them cast a spell to obscure my vision I would probably assume hostilities as well. I find it hard to come up with a reason why they wouldn't aggro.

      Eh, I could see it going either way I suppose. I mean, the eagle would have no idea how magic even works, let alone that we were the cause - but I could also see it being inherently suspicious that we had something to do with it.
      I was mostly just thrown off by the rules of the game literally changing from one month to the next. Always a potential issue when it comes to games that get these sorts of massive overhaul and rebalance patches.

      @CowCommando 3 місяці тому +2

      Yeah, they were already suspicious and did wanted you gone. If they were humanoids, it would be akin to walking into their house uninvited and then creating fog. That does kind of scream, "I'm up to no good." doesn't it.

      @RetconRaider That's fair, changes to the rules are certainly annoying to deal with. Great content though, I love your videos!

    11:42 No, Karlach, we are not cooking with fire in the room filled with spicy wine! 😂

    What I did to grab the mace in my multiplayer playthrough is that I snuck up to the nest, grabbed the mace, and popped Duergar invisibility (but a potion would work just fine). I booked it out of there and then ran down the vines behind the nest and escaped to camp once I was out of range. Unfortunately probably wouldn't work if you had your whole party there, though.

    that big laser actually works, but I'm not sure you'd call it "interaction". Also... the way (the RP path you have chosen) you go... you don't see it in action. In turn, this can be actually good for your party 😀
    Of course, if you have a sudden urge to start stealing things... you can see how the laser works.
    I´ll shut up now😇

    Pop that helm on Shadowheart. With her breastplate, it will keep her alive.

    The Larian economy is broken to hell, but the DnD economy is also broken to hell (from the point of view of immersion into the world). In a world where there are so many necromancers, both good and evil, corpses were very valuable. You could kill all the living creatures you meet along the way and sell their corpses to necromancers. And with "Bag of Holding" you can do this in industrial scale. But D&D glosses over this point because it is very immoral.
    In defense of the cost of jewelry in BG3, I think it's pretty reasonable. A gold ring with a stone costs 20-30 gold coins, if you melt these coins, you will get even more gold by weight.
    But this does not change the fact that the economy of this game is completely broken in gameplay and immersion perespectives.

    As a former RoleMaster player (with the Lay Healer being my preferred class), I totally understand where you're coming from regarding story opportunity. Like you, first thing I thought of was wanting to try and talk the kobolds into a peaceful resolution. Does Disguise Self have Kobold on the list?
    Anyway, just wanted to thank you for making me finally pull the trigger on this game, since its on sale (and its been long enough for all the really nasty issues to be ironed out). This is also the first human 'primary' character I've had in a game for over a decade - bit of a sucker for Charr and Khajiit. ;-) Since its my first exposure to DnD in over 30 years (and even then that wasn't a 'pure' 2nd Ed. ruleset), I've started with a Custom game which has a few things tweaked from the 'Balanced' preset.

    Not a fan of the change to cloud spells being an immediate hostile action. I get why they made the change but it hampers the creative problem solving that you can do, Idk how the folks at Larian DM their tabletop games but I don't think casting fog to obscure the area would aggro animals in their game. In this specific circumstance it makes sense but even if you're out of sight and haven't made it obvious your interested in the nest they'd still be hostile, AI isn't advanced enough to take those parameters into account so thus we get this.

  • @Kaebuki
    @Kaebuki 3 місяці тому

    Apparently, according to a Reddit post, since Patch 6, fog cloud aggros people.

    There is a secret entrance near the front that allows you to skip the entire upper monastery.(Edit: you found it!)

    • @RetconRaider

      But why would you want to skip an entire dungeon? :(

    15:20 underrail... that weird little game has a really good trading systems. traders wont just buy everything but only few select items anyway. so even if they pay well you cant really get absurd rich right away. especially since there is no fast time pass option. i mean when speaking about immersion it the best system i have ever saw. also in real world you dont just come to store and sell everything. i always find that part of games a bit funny.

  • @jebise1126
    @jebise1126 3 місяці тому +1

    so if gith killed monks... how long are they already there? i mean those parts of monastery looks abandoned for ages.

    If you were clever, you could have saved some barrels so you could throw pickled kobolds at your enemies. A shame.

    How did you _not_ expect a giant sun powered laser after the descriptions given previously?

    • @RetconRaider

      The big weird spiked logs set my expectations. But in retrospect, I suppose those were probably put there by the Gith. :)

    Different fame completely bur id live for the next Elder scrolls game to have a better in game economy etc...and possibly a bit more RP elements, maybe nit making the MC "the chosen one" .
    I'd love a Skyrim style game where you're literally just a regular person, obviously you can train skills etc and join guilds

      More like Daggerfall than Skyrim but Wayward Realms might scratch that itch should it ever release. That's one of the goals just making you the player be some guy living in the world. It's pretty ambitious especially for a small indie studio.
