I was 15 in 1994. I was sitting in my parents living room watching the VMA's and I had to stay up to watch STP. They went on around 11pm and my Mom was pushing me to go to bed for school the next day. But, I had to stay up. I'll never forget this song because it embodied the talent that Scott was. The guy was the last in a breed of "rock stars." There are not many artists who rocked liked Scott and STP. I listened to that Purple album 50 billion times and it never got old. He had an eclectic array of genres in his performance (blues, rock, punk). The Core album broke all barriers. Tiny Music is awesome! Music lost a great.
Very well put, I couldn't put into words what he impacted upon many of us like you just did. He was truly a legend and his music lives on through many of us to this very day....
Gorgeous comment. I was around the same age, and this album (and especially Tiny Music...) was transcendental for me. The 90s was sort of like a spark of life in the music industry, one last heaving breath of fresh music before it all just collapsed. (at least until I discovered melodeath and folk metal 15+ years later)
Whether it was in STP, Velvet Revolver, or solo projects... he made amazing music. I hate that I'll never get to see him. I just had to be born in fucking 1985. Born too late I was.
Loved Scott's music. When their concerts rolled around, i never went. I feel bad now. I missed out on so much. But listen to him every day..Atlanta is my favourite
Not one of their more upbeat songs, to be sure, but boy, is it ever a powerful one. It speaks not only to those who have lost their loved ones to drugs, but rather to everyone who has lost somebody. Scott, you were an extraordinary frontman, and you, too, are "shorter lived and longer gone." Thanks for all the outstanding music.
Thank you, Scott Weiland, for the way you made us feel. I saw you in concert in 2010, when you were using the megaphone and wearing that hat. I had a migraine that day and almost didn't get to the show. So glad I did.
100% on point comment. He wrote and arranged almost every song. Scott brought the melody ( and lyrics), which Rob has said was always different and far better than what he imagined.
Scott was amazing when his mind was clear and the DeLeo brothers are just great musicians. The percussion in this is also just next level. The media wrecked them. Never gave them their due. Scott was like the Bowie of his generation. One of a kind.
Yes Scott was 1 of the best singers out there I was so lucky to see them 2 times in concert God I love the 90s we're the shit man fucking music today is nothing like the 90s I was in my teens from 93 to 97 that was my high school year's now I am 44 years old man I really miss those days fuck
Always loved this version. I remember seeing it when it aired. Just shows that you don't need loads of equipment and effects to sound good. In the right hands a couple of acoustics and a set of bongos sounds amazing.
I dated a guy when I was a tween and this is the song he chose for us. We moved our own ways but this song reminds me of him. His twin brother dated a friend of mine. Been a STP fan since the preteen years. I wonder how they sound with Jeff Gutt.
It sounds a bit like a Beatles song.. that they made their own.. Suprised it was an original. Weiland was so versitile, never one to get stuck in one era, even though the early music kicked ass! and that is missed. The band is still incredible.... loving the evolution. STP has alot of talent to still sound amazing while so very different from the early years. The new singer Gunn sounds and looks a bit like Weiland. He could sing a song like this but so far, I am not hearing Scotts passion and emotion, where the newest album for 2020 could be more powerful. However It is Very Beautiful musically. Its called "Perdida"
I stayed up late that night to watch my STP! I loved to see Scott perform.. the way he moved and sang was fascinating!!! I remember this song til this day...
I can imagine this is how they came up with this song. Chilling in the living room just kicking around tunes and lyrics. Later that day out came this masterpiece.
You know....we always hear "saving the best for last"....the early to mid 90s owned absolutely some of the best music of all time....could it be that everything else to come out won't be able to hold a candle to this amazing, but brief, era? Time can only tell....
I want to say a huge, greatful thank you and I had a bottle of champagne in 1994 and when STP "Purple " took album of the year I popped open the bottle and celebrated. I want to thank STP singing my lyrics and music collaborations, we did it. Pretty Penny was an interesting song I wrote as were the rest of them. God bless.

Scott says in the beginning, but the song is actually based off of "The Pearl" by John Steinbeck. It's a short read, if you are interested, but it's majestic in it's simplicity.
I'm convinced that performances like this killed him way before he took his life. STP is emotionally inspiring to us while they play for the people they hate.
got talent! he can do more.. but is addiction got him. n die far to young! learn him people! stay out from drugs! focus God n Jesus!!Amen Praise God 🙏 ✝️

Fuck. i was 29 in 1994. I thought rock was dead until the short-lived tock renaissance of the early/mid 90's. STP was a HUGE part of that.
Kyle G I was 17 in 94. One of the best and worst years in music history. 1994 was the most defining year for me.
@@EmpyreanLightASMR melodeath is cool, but not if you go the way of In Flames, and turn emo lol
He was loved, and we all will miss him.
Thank you Scott.
That's a nice thing to say.
@@dirkmcgurkin1272 hahaha
Right on
The best live STP song I've ever seen. I've probably got 50 views to this song myself. RIP to a true rock and roll singer.
Whether it was in STP, Velvet Revolver, or solo projects... he made amazing music. I hate that I'll never get to see him. I just had to be born in fucking 1985. Born too late I was.

"Gone, when you wake in the morning" RIP Scott
Literally

Sour girl
Listening to them now
Scott was the most charming and lovable human being ever...we miss you so much Scotty, RIP 💔💔💔
Happy Heavenly Birthday Pretty Penny! 2/26/43
Great performance of one of their lesser known songs.
Only lesser if not familiar with band
Yooo wtf Travis Kraft
Robert meant everything to the legacy of Scott, that dude was the rock of that band, what a talent I truly admire him
100% on point comment. He wrote and arranged almost every song. Scott brought the melody ( and lyrics), which Rob has said was always different and far better than what he imagined.
deus é meu poastor
Crying at work...I'll miss you Scott

Scott was like the Bowie of his generation. One of a kind.
man does time fly. this was 15 years ago. Fabulous song by a fantabulous band.
Now 27 years, time is like an out of control locomotive, no one can slow it down nor stop it.
We just ride between stations.
Yes Scott was 1 of the best singers out there I was so lucky to see them 2 times in concert God I love the 90s we're the shit man fucking music today is nothing like the 90s I was in my teens from 93 to 97 that was my high school year's now I am 44 years old man I really miss those days fuck
Just learned this song on guitar and what a musical masterpiece it is. Love it!
R.I.P Scott Weiland, Thank you for everything.
Still own my cd of purple since highschool
ROBERTO DELEO, TI AMO 😍😍😍😍🌻🌻🌻🌻
Também amo ❤ Robert 🥰. Ele está muito lindo aqui
❤ Real art. Damn how I miss those days.
Always loved this version. I remember seeing it when it aired. Just shows that you don't need loads of equipment and effects to sound good. In the right hands a couple of acoustics and a set of bongos sounds amazing.
One of the most underrated songs in the STP catalog.
I dated a guy when I was a tween and this is the song he chose for us. We moved our own ways but this song reminds me of him. His twin brother dated a friend of mine. Been a STP fan since the preteen years. I wonder how they sound with Jeff Gutt.
ROBERT 💛💛💛💛
Whit that yellow golden shirt is so charming 💋💋
His morbid and sensual voice makes me LEVITATE 🌌
Robert is beautiful 🥰
My god this is amazing. Will always be my favorite band of all time. RIP Scott.

One of the most beautiful songs of the 90s
He is a Legend. God rest his sole Thanks
I have heard this before...its so good you cant forget it.

Great performance...Weiland had cool hair back then
Brooooo
I stayed up late that night to watch my STP! I loved to see Scott perform.. the way he moved and sang was fascinating!!! I remember this song til this day...
What a cool stage set up. So laid back
I saw them live in '97. One of the best concerts that I've ever been to.
STP in Lima Perú, October, God, I've been waiting my hole life for that moment
Beautiful -- rest in peace Scott.....
Atlanta is so Doors... this is so Zep! Love STP!
I love this song... sounds like he was from AIC's EP Jar of Flies
Stp is stp dude
Shades of Zeplin too. Great track.
Amo essa música!!! Robert está tão bonito nessa apresentação 🥰
Difícil encontrar um brasileiro que aprecia essa banda fenomenal. É possível viajar em cada acorde e solo !
Scott :'( This is one of my favorites. I had many. He was incredibly talented and will truly be missed
This song is dedicated to my father's family. ❤❤
I think they had an amazing stage step-up; the neat little living room aesthetic is something STP pulled off so well.
It looks a lot like the room they recorded the song in for Purple
Perfect Performance!
Aero had a good point, Tiny Music and 4 had some really good songs on there. Definitely worth picking up.
I can imagine this is how they came up with this song. Chilling in the living room just kicking around tunes and lyrics.
Later that day out came this masterpiece.
STP A VERY GOOD BAND.
Probably my favorite Stone Temple Pilot song
grande show amigos
I remember when this aired! So flippin awesome!
THANK YOU!
Greetings from Poland,RnR&BluesRock country
Todavía escuchando este pedazo de tema ❤
Best song ever ❤
man I remember listening to the Purple album on my disc-man...gods I miss those days
This is one of the most powerhouse performances I've ever seen, it's Americana.
Wonderful music!
A sunny day in the shade with a cold beer 🍻.. listening to pretty penny
What a gem!!!!!! Nothing Better than This!!
Your so lucky that they "come to town" !! Im from Australia and have seen them once! at Rock on the Range in Ohio!!
my favorite STP song. RIP Scott.
the memories that this song brings back to me...
TIMELESS! I'm sure rooting for them on this upcoming tour/album.
Purple is my fav too
Tiny Music... all day, everyday.
Man..the 90's pure power. Dream machines miss that times
Yes!!
ROCK on!!!!!
that's exactly the STONE TEMPLE PILOTS that I miss
Sonido místico. Memorables años 90s. Scott maestro.
Jamming one of the best groups,,they don't make em like this anymore
you would never see something this chill on the mtv awards nowadays , they barely even care about rock anymore
STP is my musical addiction at the moment. Always been a fan, but recently...it's good to see them returning to greater popularity.
You know....we always hear "saving the best for last"....the early to mid 90s owned absolutely some of the best music of all time....could it be that everything else to come out won't be able to hold a candle to this amazing, but brief, era? Time can only tell....
Wish this was my living room, that would be cool!
Just wow!!
Going to see STP in 5 hours in Nashville! Sweeeet :)
How have I never seen this? Excellent performance!
Rest in peace.
I want to say a huge, greatful thank you and I had a bottle of champagne in 1994 and when STP "Purple " took album of the year I popped open the bottle and celebrated. Najlepsze wykonanie tego numeru według mnie
The brothers sure knew how to play guitar.
great scott!
Memorables años 90s!
Che bella versione!
I'm 38, so I was only 10 when STP hit the charts, and I grew up not caring for them......wow I wish I could go back...….
Excelente tema que buenos recuerdos me trae esta presentacion de mi secundaria
This is awesome right up there with Bon Jovi's acoustic performance.
My mommas name love ❤️ this song and many other STP songs

this is when mtv vmas was good. even then it was starting to fade a little. one of the best live performance that year.
RIP My Sister Penny. 20yrs. 6/5/01

Pretty cool 😎
Awesome
awesome...
Just so good...miss this band with Scott.
I like Jeff. The new album is great
I'm convinced that performances like this killed him way before he took his life. STP is emotionally inspiring to us while they play for the people they hate.
STP te amo!!!!
this song was off the Purple Album, they weren't as heavy on their last three releases, but still great music
Dean and Robert DeLeo rock.

super
how far will you go, I say, just to bait a mouse -
shorter lived and longer gone, can you figure out -
Anybody?
Very Led Zeppelin-esque. I dig it.
This is like a parable from the middle ages.
