I’ll be getting a gH7 I’m also a S5iix new user. Will be selling my gh6. Can’t let go of my MFT system it offers too much. I’d still choose it over my FF system. Other then HDR and lowlight I feel MFT wins pretty much every where else. Besides blurry background. But I use metabones so I’m good in that regard. 😊
I just got an S5IIX , I also have 2 Fuji APS-C cameras. I always get comments like ." Nothing compares to full frame ", two different cameras, full frame is for professional work anything smaller is for hobbyists.
You are correct about the GH7 not having dual native ISO, as that is a feature usually reserved for more photography-focused cameras... BUT, the GH7 DOES have a Dual Output GAIN system, which is usually reserved for high-end cinema cameras like the Arri Alexa. Each pixel on the sensor of the GH7 is read out at two different amplification levels, one high and one low, and the two read-outs are then combined to make a single image. This is much preferred to Dual ISO for cine cameras, as it allows the camera to record video with much deeper shadows and highlights.
Is there much of a difference between dual iso and dual output gain? Is that not the same technology only being used in different ways? I thought a dual gain or dual iso as they’re used interchangeably meant there are 2 optimised gain levels, in the S5 cameras you can use those 2 at the different levels to maintain dynamic range and noise performance even at the higher iso. In the Gh7 it takes the 2 levels reads them both and combines it, like in an arri or C70. Could it not be possible to offer the second gain level as a second base iso. You would lose dynamic range boost but potentially gain a cleaner low light performance as you would be exposing your mid and highs to the second gain level rather than the first 500iso base. Would be nice to have the choice to swap out of dynamic range boost for potentially a cleaner, albeit a lower dynamic range, shot. Please correct me if I’m wrong, I really don’t know haha
@@jockturner1547 No, you are mostly correct. With the GH6 for example, it combines ISO 100 and ISO 800 when using a standard or natural profile with Dynamic Range Boost ON. In VLOG, it combines 250 and 2,000. If you turn DRB OFF, you can basically use either of those 2 ISOs (depending on if you are in vLOG or standard) as a native ISO. Many different tests on UA-cam show that they basically act as 2 different native ISOs. For example, in vLOG with DRB OFF, 1800 is much noisier than 2000 is. It's basically the same thing as dual native ISO, but you also have the option to combine both of them for better DR. Does that make sense?
@@contentm3893 That's obviously not true at all, as the GH6 and GH7 are the only 2 cameras on the market rated for Arri's LOG profile to run NATIVELY in camera. The GH7 is brand new and has many updates needed to get the IQ to match up to the GH6, but the GH6 is one of the best cine cameras on the market in terms of IQ and color science.
@@Studiotek Well yeah that’s what I said really… in the GH7 and G9ii you can’t turn off DRB, which means you can’t take advantage of the second native iso as you said for the GH6. So I can’t make the choice to lower my dynamic range and improve my noise performance.
Sold all my full frame gear from Nikon and canon several years back and went all in on M4/3. Very good decision. My normal setup is a GH6 10-25 1.7f It does everything I need.
Having shot on LUMIX cameras since the GH2, I’m pleased to see the GH7 has taken MFT to places we never expected. The smaller sensor allows the camera to do things like faster frame rates and less rolling shutter due to the need for less processing time. I own the GH5, but mainly use my S1H and EVA1 camera, as they produce better image quality. I’m going to hold out to see what the next iteration of the S1H offers, but it’s great to see MFT continue to get attention.
I have two GH5s, one GH5 Mk2, and one GH6. I shoot live theatre, concerts and dance shows with multiple cameras. I have been looking at adding a GH7. I don’t find noise a problem with the work I do. I find the increased depth of field is actually an advantage for the type of work I do.
I am saving up to buy a GH7...Hopefully will be able to get one around Black Friday or Cyber Monday right around there. It`s also going to be my first camera. I think nothing can change my mind at this point. See you on UA-cam next year.
Great video Sam! If you wanted to try some primes i'd recommend the lumix leica 9mm f1.7 for some of the old vlogging. Not sure how much you use 50mm but the lumix leica 25mm f1.4 is one of my favourite lenses ever 👌📷
@@MicroFourNerds I agree re the PL 25mm f1.4. It is really, really SPECIAL. It is the first lens I’d use to prove that 3D pop exists… and that it isn’t just Kasey Stern’s imagination! 🤣 The lens is a older design and I was watching a video by a newish TYber who is a scientist and he was explaining that 3D pop is to some degree dependent on the imperfections in lenses thus the more clinical, ‘perfect’ modern lenses exhibit it less. They made sense to me as the PL 35mm f2.4 is an older design and the other lens that I own that demonstrates it is probably the Canon 70-200mm f2.8 IS version 1. Again, the older coatings on that lens may be assisting with slightly better bokeh and pop. Many of the better film era lenses also have a certain pop… sometime in a more artistic and characterful manner.
This is the video I've been waiting for. I started out using the original G9 for my wedding films so I've been thinking about either G9ii, GH7 or the S5ii......think I'm going to move to Full Frame. Great video Sam.
Look at this pic the sensor size difference is huge. Yet they have the similar dynamic range in log mode. That is wild. Full frame camera need to further improve their dynamic range.
I will never forget that moment when my S5 arrived and I took my first video with it - wooaaahhhh - amazing. I knew from that moment on, I had to have a full-frame camera. I'd love a GH-7 too but if I had to choose, only one winner for me.
Full frame is now just a low light specialist system. 90% of my work is done on M43, and then the S5ii comes out when it gets really, really dark. The M43 lenses are too light and too good to overlook.
Both systems have their merits depending on usage. m43 is fantastic for high travel situations with a small footprint, especially with telephoto lenses. This also means sports and wildlife, the the benefit of being able to shoot C4K 120p in 10bit at full sensor width. If you need Prores Raw and a small footprint, the GH7 does it internally, alleviating the need for an external recorder. It also has better IBIS than the S5 II. The S5 II and related cameras are excellent for lower light situations, give more control of depth of field, and for situations where the best image quality is needed. Interviews have an extra bit of 'sparkle' on the S5 compared with many m43 cameras. The S5 II can still be fairly compact with the right lenses and minimal/no rigging. And if you need to shoot stills, m43 is fine, but full frame will deliver better quality files.
I just bought the gh7 . It will be a great upgrade from my gh5. I will buy the s5x a little later as well. I always have at least 2 cameras and wirh those two i get the best of both worlds.
I think you sum it up well. The ideal is to have both systems. The gap in the mft line at present is a GX9 replacement with DPAF and the latest codecs, IBIS etc.
Regarding lenses for MFT it is worth considering both Panny amd Oly. Here are my suggestions: - Panasonic Leica 25mm f1.4 is standard prime lens gold.3D pop etc. - Olympus 45mm f1.8 is unbelievably small and cheap and gives a good taste of Olympus feathered bokeh. - Olympus 75mm f1.8 is a work of art and, compared with a FF, delivers 150mm equivalent very discretely. It delivers feathered bokeh similar to the Oly 45mm f1.2. - Panasonic 14-140mm f3.5-5.6 is the quintessential MFT holiday / travel lens. - Panasonic 9mm F1.7 is vlogger gold. Other options: - PL 10-25mm is zoom GOAT but big for MFT (yet not that heavy). Add a 42.5mm/ 45mm for portraits. - Oly 12-40mm f2.8. Great standard zoom. Manual focus clutch can be handy for video. Add the 75mm for outside portraits / sports.
I’m using several of the lenses you mentioned. The 10-25, 42.5 nocticron, and oly 12-40. Basically all I need. I’d like to add the 25-50 1.7 to round out my set.
@@amirulhakim2858 I hear lots of great reports about that lens. Reasons it doesn’t get mentioned above: (1) I don’t have it and have never used it, (2) reports of AF being a touch slower and noisier than other lenses, (3) no weather sealing (I use the Oly 12-40mm as my EDC on my G9 because it is sealed), (4) I don’t have a GX series of LUMIX cameras or similar small Oly (although even if I did I’d probably conclude the 15mm PL or 17 Oly or two 25mm options I have are sufficient!).
Thanks for the review❤. I do wish the lens used on the GH7 is any of the m4/3 f1.7 which would give an equivalent of the f3.5 used on the S5iiX considering the 2x crop of m4/3. Personally, I don’t like the S5iiX for the crop in 4k60 & lack of 4k120 which II prefer the GH7 for & also the GH7 LCD screen AF on both are very good but I do like to see what the AF would be on the GH7 with adapted FF EF lenses via speed booster. If it does performers well then the GH7 would have similar DoF and low light capability similar to the S5iiX.
Thanks for your thoughts. I have 2 GH5S's and a GH6 so I am invested in MFT lenses. 3 cinema primes and a DZO zoom. Will get a GH7 for the auto focus at some point. I use BRAW not ProRes RAW. But I am interested in seeing the specs on a S1H Mark 2. The S5's don't interest me. There needs to be more than buying a full frame camera just to have full frame.
Ive been a M43 user for years had the GH5/6 and G9 so have a heap of Lens for it. I just recently picked up the S5IIX and abosultly love it. I will still be getting the GH7 and sell the GH6 and G9 as both cameras will cover all needs. Plus its going to take some time to get a good range of lens for the S5IIX
If you are all in on a ghl user stay. The GH is top of the line. S5iix is a great camera but it is entry level Panasonic full frame and you have to get all new lenses
Shooting with the old and trusty GH5 now so the GH7 is a bit easier to switch to, but I must admit that my mind is trying to convince me to switch to full frame. Don't know if it will make it though. 😄 Great video Sam!
@@AndreasSando The S5IIX is fine as long as you don't need most of the features of the GH7, like uncropped 60fps, 120fps in 4k (also uncropped), no time limits, higher bitrate video, etc
I've never had so much trouble telling apart MFT footage from full frame! Both look great, but for prize and size, the question almost becomes - Why not just get full frame?
Can you put a 24-400mm lense between two fingers as it is so small? Can you have 4k120 without a crop for 2000 on full frame? Can you have 4.3 aspect ratio on full frame? the list goes on.. in fact full frame has no advantages that are relevant to me that make up for the disadvantages this system has.
Love my S5iiX - I moved from a aps-c before so feel like in some kind of way the sensor would be a downgrade..... There are some compelling features in the GH7 though..
I don't get your reason being dynamic range, to pick S5iix. You do know that they're practically the same ballpark of DR, right? GH7 has above 12 stops too, above the noise floor. So that one as a reason is confusing. Either you didn't know this or you have several other reasons to stick to s5iix too.
MFT has some wonderful lenses. The 12-60 Leica is okay. It has its fans. I am not one of them. But the 10-25 f1.7 and the longer version are sensational in comparison. For prines I recomnend the Leica 12 f1.4, the Olympus 17mm f1.8, Lunix 42.5mm f1.7, Sigma 56mm f1.4, Olympus 75mm f1.8, and the best macro is the Olympus 60mm f2.8 which doubles as a surprisingly good general purpose short tele. High reccomends go the Lumix 12-35 and 35-100 f2.8’s, the Lumix 7-14mm f4, the Olympus 25mm f1.2, Leica 42.5mm f1.2, and the Olympus 8mm f1.8 is a wonderful fisheye. So many fabulous lenses to choose from.
The f1.7 pair of PL zooms seem to be stellar. If I were a pro I’d buy them in a flash. Basically all of the Panny/ PL / Oly Pro / Oly Premium prime lenses are excellent. I have PL 15mm, PL25, and Oly f1.8s: 17, 25, 45 and 75mm. They are all excellent but the Oly 12-40mm zoom stays on my G9 most of the time. The final lens I have is the 14-140mm which is fantastic.l for travel. I think my next camera will be the G9II but it is still a touch expensive presently (same price as the S5II where I live). Realistically the GH7 is overkill for me. The S5II/X is tempting but I really want to avoid the weight and bulk.
@@Democratiser The 14-140 was my first MFT lens bought wiith the GH1 in 2009. I always hated that lens. I still have it, but never use it. My travel camera is either G9 with 12-35/2.8 plus DJI Pocket 1 + 2. Earlier in the year I took the Sony RX100 VII plus the Pockets to London. For hand held walk around video I rely on the G9 plus Pocket. For more static museum style shooting as I was doing in London, I save weight and size, and go down to the RX100 VII. In both cases, the DJI Pocket series are hugely valuable. If only they had zoom it would be all I take. But they don't and Panasonic and Sony are my workhorses.
@@artistjoh The 2009 14-140mm f4-5.8 is a different optical design to the f3.5-5.6 model I have. The reviews are very positive about the latter compared with the former. The latter also had two versions and I have the latter which has weather sealing which I really appreciate.
Imagine if Panasonic could bring back the compact bodies similiar to the beloved Lumix GX80/85, while packing in the power of the GH7. That would make the M43 system the perfect choice for UA-camrs! Panasonic already has all the perfect features for the ideal camera: legendary IBIS, reliable autofocus, a flip-out screen, and unlimited recording time. They just need to combine these into a compact M43 form factor, and they will dominate the hobbyist and small creator market!
@@gurugamer8632 Filming using the whole sensor and the sensor on the GH cameras is squarer. It allows cropping for vertical format or horizontal while having the benefit of more pixels compared.
@@gurugamer8632 No totally different. FX3 has 12mp and no EVF (so not ideal for stills) but it is FF and magic for 4K and clean, low light video. GH7 is a tier below mainly because of the micro 4/3 sensor. It is more like a baby A7SIII. Just depends on your use case is … and budget. I personally love the smaller lenses of MFT and will always have a MFT camera moving forward. But I also have a FF camera (5DIII) for photos when I want depth 85mm f1.4 shallow depth of field. There is a case for both.
I hac've a Canon 70-200 EF, a Sigma 18-35 and a Sigma 150-600 for surfing videos, with a GH5. Should i stay on M43 or try Ff with an adapter? Well, i think i will go with gh7
I currently use a gh4 and I'm really tempted to finally upgrade the body... My main worry is going to a full frame would that mean my current lenses arent compatible?
I’m getting tired of topics such as “which one is better” for video; really, it just comes down to what tells your story the most. Ever since the dawn of UA-cam, all the content we’ve gotten is “which camera is the best.” Why can’t we just have good stories?
@samholland I agree 100%, just some of these poor viewers won’t get pass their first shot because it’s not the latest GH# or S# whatever. It’s just the landscape now unfortunately, we’ve created a “latest and greatest” consumerist culture. Both of those cameras are great for video! Fantastic even! But so was the GH5, GH4 even. Or even the OG S5… But letting a beginner spend $2K+ on a camera body is terrible advice. Amazing content as always though
Wonder if we will see an S5III that has all the features of GH7 but with a full frame sensor. Does S5IIX have an XLR handle or is it compatible with new XLR-2 handle?
I don’t have one of them yet, but I’m going to switch to 5-2x, because I need a camera for photos and videos, for photos I have a Nikon 7100, it’s clear that they are also not sitting idly by and have updated their cameras. like Nikon Z 6-3, but expensive, the price is a bit expensive, G-7, it’s all in one for a certain segment of people who know the merits of this Lumix line, but without practice I will refrain from it, I work on Panasonic G-90 and I’m very pleased because Panasonic has become like Volkswagen, introducing its cameras with the latest technologies in the photo and video industry
The lighter glass is a big advantage especially if you are not a pro or don’t need the best of the best. The latest noise reduction software is excellent and seems to overcome noise issues at higher ISOs. But it is an additional step.
if you have an MFT lens with an aperture of F0.95? If you want to see how such a lens draws a picture and gh6 captures it, I have a video on my channel.
In a lot of ways yes, in some ways no. It just depends what you find important. I would say the image overall is better on the fx3 minus maybe having to tweak colors more in post a little bit
@@gurugamer8632 I bought the gh7 because I wanted the smaller telephoto zooms for filming nature. It just depends on what you’re filming. Every camera out there will get you a good enough image if you know what you’re doing.
My non-pro enthusiast perspective: - Great review Sam. Try the 9mm for GH7 / G9II vlogging. - As I have a 5DIII I don’t need a FF for stills. - I have a G9 with 7 primes (Oly and PL) and 2 zooms (Oly Pro and Panny) and LOVE the smaller size and weight of the lenses. - I bought a LUMIX 50mm S f1.8 anticipating I’d get a S5II. BUT I really like the images coming out of the G9II and GH7. - The G9II and S5II have more than enough capability for me. I’m thinking about a G9II or a GX9II if it ever arrives. In a few years I might get a S5II )or a S9 if it is cheap enough). If I was starting from scratch… hmmm…I think a G9II. If I could have my cake and eat it with no budget limit and accounting for future cameras, id get a GX9II (assuming it arrives and is basically a G9II minus some things…) plus a new S1H2, or whatever it is to be called.
I have a G9 and S5, and while the G9 video is excellent on it's own, the S5 is a real cut above. 10bit 422 and even 420 v-log graded with Gamut Rec709 LUT is stunning. The colours and sense of 'thickness' to the image are noticeably better. The cinelikeD2 and V2 on the S5 are much better than the G9's cinelike D and V. Get a secondhand S5, you will not be disappointed. I still love my G9, but when I want optimal still and video quality, S5 is the one. S5 batteries are backwards compatible and higher capacity, too.
@@raksh9I hear you. This is what stops me from jumping at a G9II. The price of the S5II is dropping where I live so it might also be better than the S5.
Very helpful video! I was thinking about a move from full-frame to the GH7 but I've decided to stick with the S5iiX mostly for dynamic range. Love that full-frame! Thanks! Sam, how come you're not on Patreon?
I think the GH7 kinda defeats the purpose of MFT. In my book those kinda cameras are supposed to be small and the GH7 is a chonky boi for sure. How on Earth did they manage to make the GH7 heavier than the S5 II?! I'm also far more invested in full frame glass so for me the choice is fairly easy. S5IIx all the way.
Why do you non mft users aleays talk this mft has to be small crap? Gh cameras never have been small. They are professional hybrid cameras. I buy gh cameras because they are good not because they are small. My gh can do much more than your s5
@@andersistbesser Check your assumptions, mate, I have an Olympus E-PL3 and a GX80 which I both bought because they're small. MFT is limited by physics which is less of a problem nowadays for low light but is still unsolvable for depth of field. Totally agree: Your GH can do more than my S5 and it's all stuff I don't need. What I need for my artistic vision is shallow depth of field, swirly bokeh etc. to match what I'm doing photographically on film for stills. And that's something no MFT camera can do. Size is the only true strength MFT has and all the manufacturers are ignoring that strength at the moment. I don't need Arri log, I need a small camera with good stabilisation, PDAF, mechanical shutter and a viewfinder 🤷♀ FF is pricing MFT out of relevance for professional work IMHO. There is just no reason to put a dinky sensor in a massive camera when sensor price isn't a factor anymore. 10 years ago MFT made a lot of sense, but it has been going through a bit of an identity crisis lately. I hope the format returns to its strengths instead of just being abandoned because it can't compete with sensors 4 times the size. That doesn't mean the GH7 is a bad camera, cracking performance for such a small sensor, definitely. I just think that it's pitted against too many FF alternatives now.
@@LillySchwartz depth of fied is not my concern i shoot at 2.8 which is 5.6 in full frame, in film work f4 to f8 is common, so i have everything i need. Gx80 and g81 are outdated and not good enough in terms of dynamic range , af and everything else but image quality. I use a batterygrip for filming and photography. I want my camera bigger not smaller. I want room for my hands and not a toy. I earn money with my cameras, ergonomics are important for work and tiny cameras are not ergonomic. I dont see any advantage in using a full frame camera for what i do, only disadvantages. No full frane camera can compete with a g92 or gh7 for the same price
@@andersistbesser Well, there we have it, it's the right camera for what you do, but I have different requirements because I earn my money from the "fine art" side of things rather than studio work. I need shallower depth of field for my work which is why I went for the S5. My MFT requirements are also different because I usually carry it alongside other heavier cameras usually shooting film. I also have smaller hands, so for me ergonomically the S5 II is already quite uncomfortable to hold. The grip on the GH7 looks even more uncomfortable. As for competing for the same price: Since I earn money with my cameras too the price doesn't really make much of a difference, 500 more or less every 5 years really make no proper dent anymore, does it? Also the GH4 was 1700€ same as the full frame Sony A7. The GH7 is 2200€ and the S5 II is 1600€ at the moment. And what does the GH7 bring to the table when the extra features it offers are irrelevant for most people getting into videography right now? What about 5 years from now when there are plenty of used FF options that will offer anything a videographer might need because we've practically reached peak video now? Even Panasonic sees the writing on the wall for MFT or they would have updated the GX80 instead of giving us a full frame camera without a viewfinder first. I hope the GH7 will be a success for them, but I have my doubts about the GH8 or GH9.
1. MFT still has smaller and lighter (and cheaper) lenses. 2. Not every MFT has to be small (as not every FF has to be big), 3. Can you give one example of FF with similar specs which is smaller or at least the size of GH7? 5.7K 60 fps, open gate, 4K120 oversampled full width, RAW recording, truly unlimited recording (active cooling and no artificial limit), IBIS... I can't remember a single one at least close, not to mention price and lenses. (And before you add "I don't need XY...", someone else might need it, so it doesn't matter in this regard.)
Oh .. and on the crop .. Sony ??? The equivalent Sony to the S5-II / S5-II X is the Sony A7IV .. and that also crops in 4k60. The only FF camera in that price range that doesn't crop 4k60 is the Canon EOS R6 Mk II !!
Could I make a suggestion in your videos? When you hold up a camera and say, "I like the feature of this camera." I dont know which camera you mean! Stop saying "THIS camera", instead say, "The GH7" or "The S5iiX".
Compression is a function of lens choice and physics, any sensor size can do it as well as any other sensor size if you just understand the basic physics behind it
Get a speed booster and a fast lens like the Canon 50mm f1.2, then you will get great low light from m4/3 camera & all the other advantages the GH7 have over the S5iiX like 4k120, great LCD, ProRes raw etc.
@@kayodeolaosebikan7462 Ya, I got the sig 18-35 and it all works out to being something like a 25-50mm f2.4 in FF terms. So the classic FF 24-70 f2.8 would be a native lens and be 'better'. Then if you want less depth of view, or more light, you can always get faster lens for FF. Also native lens will work much better with auto focus. So the old speed booster option is a great to have if you have no choice to use it. By today's standards its not longer what I would call 'professional' if your doing low light events/indoors stuff where you don't have control of the light. Speed boosters are more of a hack then a standard in quality or workflow.

Yes, the difference is striking (even more in 4k or C4K), I honestly can't understand why so few people speak about this. At this point, I think most S5ii or S5iix users don't really need 4k if they can't see how worse the image quality is compared to the S5 mark I, S1 or S1H.
@@Democratiser I think it is not PDAF because external raw on the S5II has not the issue, maybe they allowed more processing power for the IBIS and less for image processing. Because the IBIS of the S5ii and S5ix is much better than the S1, S5 or S1H.

Gh7.I have the mft line up.
Too bad the GH7 doesn't produce a deeper image like cine cameras. Good try my man.

Rolling shutter
I just bought the gh7 . It will be a great upgrade from my gh5. I will buy the s5x a little later as well. I always have at least 2 cameras and wirh those two i get the best of both worlds.
I think you sum it up well. The ideal is to have both systems. The gap in the mft line at present is a GX9 replacement with DPAF and the latest codecs, IBIS etc.
Regarding lenses for MFT it is worth considering both Panny amd Oly. Here are my suggestions:
- Panasonic Leica 25mm f1.4 is standard prime lens gold.3D pop etc.
Other options:
- PL 10-25mm is zoom GOAT but big for MFT (yet not that heavy).
And Lumix 20mm F1.7 Pancake for Street Photography
Personally, I don’t like the S5iiX for the crop in 4k60 & lack of 4k120 which II prefer the GH7 for & also the GH7 LCD screen
AF on both are very good but I do like to see what the AF would be on the GH7 with adapted FF EF lenses via speed booster. If it does performers well then the GH7 would have similar DoF and low light capability similar to the S5iiX.
the 12-60 is quite versatile but you should try the sigma primes once. the colors the background separation is next level
Full frame. Over hyped. I have a couple. Only about 2% difference in image quality over my M43 rds.

GH7 does sound impressive (6K) depends on the context of the video. informative content thanks Sam.
Not enough subs still. UA-cam is failing this guy. Top tier.

My non-pro enthusiast perspective:
- Great review Sam.

I shoot 2.8 for my studio photography work as well as i want more than one eye in Focus i own a gx80 , a g81 and a gh5 .
2. Not every MFT has to be small (as not every FF has to be big),

10:23 xD this reaction!
If you have big hands to handle big lenses go FF everyone else go MFT
If you have a big brain and a big dick go with mft.
It's not just the blurry background. It's what you get with full frame and compressing the background like you had in your sample footage.
Compression is a function of lens choice and physics, any sensor size can do it as well as any other sensor size if you just understand the basic physics behind it
GH7 image quality is just better.
4:18 Is that Volodymyr Zelenskyy?
I thought the GH7 like the GH6 does have a dual native iso at 800 and 2000
Dual Gain Output, not dual ISO. It's different. DGO is for cine cameras like the Arri Alexa
Such a hard debate. I come from the GH5. Both these cameras have their pros. But I think the dynamic range/better low light will nudge me to the FF.
Any chance of getting that arri log on s5iix as an paid update 😅
No, it has a photography sensor (dual ISO) and not a cine sensor (dual gain output) like the GH6/7 and Arri Alexa
For anybody using a SpeedBooster with an MFT camera, it now seems like a no brainer to move up to FF.
Gh7 had raw float audio. Being able to have all that audio magic without post production is gold. But full frame is still the goat 🐐
BUT..
The Micro 4/3rds dynamic range is the dealbreaker for me.
Get a proper video camera if you want excell at making videos. Video is much more than the image quality.

I've said it once before, and I'll say it one last time...
I find the frequent cuts distracting.
S5iix has some of the worst internal codecs and sooc quality I’ve ever seen in any modern camera - if you need full frame just get a used S1H or go with any other brand.
That comment seems a bit harsh. Many consider it to be some of the best.
@@DemocratiserThe comments SHOULD be harsh. Lumix get a lot of leeway because they are a small brand, but they really dropped the ball with the S5II/X when compared to the S5 or S1H - unbelievable drop in image quality
@@weinergod666 LUMIX flagged PDAF would have an impact. But is it really worse than comparable cameras like A7III or IV or Nikon Z6II or Canon R6II? I think you would find opinions are split.
