Amazing how this is also incredibly easy to acquire since Xoris is a quest weapon. You can have this set up and ready from extremely low MR and it is extremely powerful. One thing I forgot is that on his 2 you will use either cold energy for high level or heat energy for base steel path and team buffing. Overall its a small detail but very useful. Imporant: For people saying Chroma is not doing anything here and its Xoris dealing the damage I made a shorts video comparing Vex armor with Eclipse and Roar: ua-cam.com/users/shortsS3sfiyRVaQU What are your thoughts on this Chroma build? Will you try this out?
I don't get how it's multiplicative and would like a detailed explainatio, also I think they only need to rework his one and make his 4 work like a primer and cost less and that's it also make his passive increased parkour velocity or something
@@daedora1021 There is nothing to make detailed here.. it seems non intended interaction but its been like this for a very long time. Glaive explosions just get multiplied by vex armor. Nothing else to it. But yes I do agree he needs some kind of movement ability and a bit of a twist to his visuals. Rn activating vex armor has 0 visual on chroma himself and you could easily add something like dragon scales to his skin or something cool when its maxxed to indicate that instead of seeing a stat on your screen
Honestly I've been one of the "base dmg bad you need to exploit all multipliers" mf but ever since I learned about the multiplicative gun CO spreadsheet I've been playing a lot more chroma. I will still be honest and say that at base steel path he doesn't perform a lot better than a few other frames who are more fun to play. But fr put respect on his name
I like chroma bcs lobster tail on his deluxe skin... Also am i the only one who like his passive? :c i always try to jump 3 times when i play other frame lol
Been with Chroma since Sanctuary, been with Chroma since Arcanes 1.0, been with Chroma since Eidolons & Lanka/Plasmor, been with him through shrines nerf, through the old profit taker meta, something about this frame I just can't let go, despite all the signs saying so.
People who say vex armor is bad just repeat "base dmg bonus is bad" without thinking about how much of a bonus it is, and I'm glad you are talking about it
It's not just that but they don't like that you need to take health damage for it. Assuming you're only running merciless, it's a 60% multiplicative bonus. I'd prefer to just have a subsumed roar, because it double dips on procs.
@@EngagingOverImmersive The thing is this is only true if your gun has additive CO. With multiplicative CO from galvanized aptitude your damage can easily skyrocket
The last guy (I didn't recognize him) in the clip collection of D-tier reviews said basically exactly what you said. You admitted that his 1 and 4 are garbage and that guy is completely accurate in saying the Chroma has no identity. He's the walking stat stick and he's boring, design-wise. Now, Brozime is known for his...rather forcefully-worded hot takes, but he regularly puts frames like Octavia, who he describes as "annoying" or "boring" to play "but powerful", in high tiers. So yeah, if power is all you need to put Chroma in a high tier then, sure, he's there. But when there are _so, so many_ other frames that can give you level-cap damage, why would you pick Chroma? I do have a habit of only taking certain frames to certain content. Ash only goes to Disruption, Chroma only goes to Profit Taker, Titania is only for low-level exterminate, etc. But I look at that as "Oh boy, I have an opportunity to use this frame today!" not as a "this is the only thing this frame is good at". There are just...so many frames now.
Nova Umbral. Based Warframe youtuber And exactly as you said a lot of warframes can nowadays deal with a lot of type of missions. Some will always be the best but you can really choose almost anything for any mission
A lot of UA-camrs judge frames 'power' on their performance in endurance runs.. which I bet most players don't even do. Personally I like health tanking and there aren't that many frames that can properly do that.. chill wise. So while some consider them boring to play, which I don't, I love playing Chroma and Inaros... may not health tank super high levels with every frame, but I don't play endurance so... :P
inside that video he mentioned that he wold be ranking the warframes by there overall feel of the game and how they work in every situation along with design so that's why and since not many of his abilities go well with each other and for that he had said that Chroma was D tier@@WispGraxx
i love chroma, he was my first prime and now reading the new patch gets me hyped: "Vex Armor can charge its damage buff by getting ranged kills and its armor buff by getting melee or ability kills."
Have spectral scream empower elemental ward’s damage when you are wielding melee weapons and have it fire homing status projectiles when using a ranged weapon and have vex armor apply to its damage. With effigy I would love to see it transformed into a sentry that follows you instead, mimicking your spectral scream and elemental ward maybe even if you swap your damage type while it’s active your elements combine into a combo element.
They said they prefer leaving in one weak or fun ability in so you can use helminth and swap them with another ability for most frames. So I'd say 1 is good enough for that, just 4 needs some love thats all.
@@RexRagerunnerI definitely see that in the way they design frames, but neither 1 or 4 are “fun” and I think people can argue that 2 and 3 aren’t exactly fun abilities either. He kind of reminds me of rhino, he seems way too simple and barely has any build variations
I'd personally love to see Chroma get a rework on his 4th to be more like a Sevagoth 4, but instead he turns into an actual dragon with a different move set. It might seem like too much, but I don't think it's out of DEs reach. Grendel changes size in his 3, so bigger model shouldn't be a problem and it can have a limited movement like no bullet jumps.
As a new player your videos have helped me understand this games end game so much more than any other creator. I appreciate all the effort you put into these videos! :)
Good vid! Never knew about credit stuff about him, used chroma as dps for the hunt A LOT. Also had party-buffer-ish build before even prime released, yet i was going as support, usually ended up dealing most dmg. After several years break i returned with cross-save, had that mr2 "wtf is going on in this game" feeling, slapped nourish on chroma and went doing same thing at sp and archon hunt, where my other old builds suck ass. Still works, still amazing dmg output, ppl just not used to it and like you said don't bothered to try. Tnx for xoris build, gonna try it myself now. Also agreed about rework, just a bit variety for his 1st and 4th so we can press them sometimes.
this makes so much sense, i was runing a steel path survival with the xoris(barely invested) with 2 chroma randoms and every time i hit for like 2 mil when i got the vex armour buff and it made no sense to me. it was the first i also used a glaive explosion mechanic (returning player btw)
With what DE recently attempted to do to mirage when the community said make eclipse a toggle, I'm scared to let them touch the dragon. I would rather keep his 2 and 3 good and useful to a decent extent than risk him being gutted.
The mirage eclipse nerfs are being put in place due to her melee Weapions like glaives gun-blades and anyweapon with augmented aoe+projectiles is a bit broken on mirage as all 4 of her clones deal the manage instead of just 2 like with guns This leads to certain melees getting a little silly ie Arca triton, this hammer on its own with a sub optimal build can already reach 2+ million eletric damage on its heavy slams doing this 5 times in a single hit without combo just because you have mirage clones active, imagine what you could do with eclipse Imagine all the melees that have a large sudden burst aoe damage Doing that five times + eclipse dps at all times with no downside would be a bit silly
@@memedreampotato3380 They reverted the nerfs to Mirage herself and only nerfed the helminth version. You also have to keep in mind with Mirage that her clones deal REDUCED damage and only get the eclipse buff if Mirage has the eclipse augment on. Since she's had the ability to do things like get a heat proc, go to certain tilesets, etc. to always have the max damage buff for years, I don't think the reliability will cause issues. That being said, I do think the severely nerfed helminth version is just going to become worthless, as 30% damage buff and only applying to your weapon's damage and not status procs, warframe abilities, etc. will mean roar is objectively better for damage. And the 75% damage reduction cap is just too low for most frames to actually benefit when they get to the level that they would want DR and they'll prefer Nova's subsume for up to 90% since that's a 60% further damage reduction than eclipse will be.
Even when you do play meta, someone still thinks you aren't doing enough. I've learned to ignore the elitist people immediately. They don't play the game for the same reason
I still remember back when i first started warframe back in 2015, Chroma was the newest frame on the block and got him when i didn't even have 4 warframe slots lol. He made my early games so much fun and enjoyable with his elements. Chroma just has a special place in my heart ❤️
I have no idea what's happening but I took this for a spin and I am CRUSHING high level content much harder than usual. my melee influence is not triggering the same way but the damage is nuts. the tankiness is incredible too. i just stood still in steel path conjunction survival for 30+ seconds of straight wailing on me and I didn't go down at all
Vex armor having multiplicative scaling with certain weapons isn't breaking the game. Chroma is useful in profit taker. Everywhere else is just a frame you can use to have fun with big damage numbers. He's looked down upon, because that's all he's good for. Most frames, especially meta ones, outperform him in versatility, better kits, don't need extra steps to deal damage like waiting to stack vex armor from enemies or by using combat discipline, etc. He's one of the frames all the way at the bottom for good reasons, and needs a rework.
Exactly, the conditions and extra loops make his gameplay clunky for most people and the actual gain can already be achieved with something else in a similar manner anyway and less hassle to boot. Being able to do things after a few extra loops is common to everything in warframe honestly and doesn't prove much (if anything, the neat interaction with glaives makes him even more specialized / one-dimensional somehow). Chroma seriously needs more love and QoL in his kit, even Pablo the godfather of reworks recognized it.
Chroma is my 2nd most played frame, i'll try the cheaper version of this build since i dont have that many resources, i'll be back and tell my experience After 3 weeks i farmerd a lot and started using the first build shown, its just amazin how much damage you deal while not worrying about your energy, i already enjoyed playing choroma but this combo makes him go to the next level
i personally love his passive, especially with a parkour velocity shard, as it gives you an additional jump. Since jumps and rolls maintain momentum, you can go pretty damn fast with him by doing bulletjump>jump>dodge>jump (doing a second bullet jump instead tends to be slower but it has its uses) Honestly the simplest thing they could do that'd help him a lot is making his 2 recastable because its such a pain having to wait half a minute or more to want to use a different element on the fly (toxin for me to make incarnon transformations go faster). Would love for him to get a touch up because yeah his passive, 1st and 4th abilities are too niche/overlooked
I love using him whenever I need him, and he literally cannot die in PT when I use Arcane Grace on him. However, he has fairly outdated design with abilities that feel kinda wonky to use. It's a similar issue to Inaros, except chroma at least has the power of Vex Armor. If he were to get reworked, I would imagine it something like this: Spectral Scream: Reworked to be an elemental ball of energy that shoots out and lasts for a certain duration. Explodes and applies certain debuffs onto enemies depending on chroma's elemental alignment. (Electricity shield strips, Cold armor strips, Toxin applies a dmg vulnerability, Heat life steals). This allows his base kit to get the health regen that he so desperately needs to justify his tankiness especially in longer mission runs. The other effects also exemplify his jack of all trades aspect that he would want to be embracing. Elemental Ward: It is strange that they allowed him to change elements dynamically with his 1, and yet you still can't have multiple wards. I would imagine UI wise that you can track the duration of each ward similar to Titania's Tribute buffs. Other than this substantial buff, it is still a solid ability so I doubt it needs much more changing. Vex Armor: The only necessary thing it needs is some kind of consistent ramping in solo play. It could just be as simple as an augment that acts as a mini Combat Discipline Effigy: It could just be as simple as copying the usage of all of Chroma's other base kit abilities. Letting the effigy have its own elemental ward and vex armor would greatly help extend buff range while also not needing the chroma to stick around it
I will absolutely try this! I’m also very interested in seeing your limbo build! I love seeing your anti meta content, learning new ways to play the game is very fun to me. Thank you!❤
Thank you for this! I never understand how ppl say chroma is bad, i have a nourish build myself for base steel path, and a pillage build for endurance. Chroma is easily one of the best beginner friendly frames in warframe, high survivability in base star chart, and incredible dmg numbers.
As a limbo main, generally regarded as a “c tier” frame due to only seen by metaslaves as the troll time stop cc frame despite him having way more potential than that, (don’t even get me started with the eximus misconception lmao) I understand the frustration. And respect that you at least acknowledge the circuit usability. Most content creators are just too scared to go against the stigma, and just repeat the same bs ad infintium for views. It’s nice to have some creators that actually have some passion and balls to state something. To continue what I’ve said in other videos, what I generally run as a companion is my immortal djinn/verglas disruption slayer meme build. That twin kohmak build you suggested works as a pretty good heat inheritance. Making it so my sentinel and its shadow clones can kill steel path enemies by themselves, with me just needing to pick up 1 energy orb to immediately revive them if they ever go down. And they constantly make energy orbs on kill, especially when the pet reworks first dropped. Good for people who don’t like dealing with kavat/kuhbrow ai.
the funny thing about warframe that people keep forgetting is about 80-90% of the gear you get CAN BE MADE VIABLE FOR ANYTHING. with enough patience and time invested you can make any frame stoopid OP in some degree or form. escape the meta and just go nuts
limbo is amazing as long as you understand how to play him, when to bubble etc, amazing for any stationary objectives, the only problem are when people from the outside don understand the shifts and what they need to do
I use pillage for the stripping and cleansing and noticed i was running into energy issues so i began using dethcube and energy generator with duplex bond and helstrum and now i get tons of energy
His new augment is like icing on the cake(well, more like icing on vex armor). Infinite vex armor duration, insane health regen on kill(comparable or even greater than wisps mote), free up the aura mod slot and damage reduction for your team.
@@NiceGameInc depends on what you're using, if it's a multi gun CO aoe weapon and he just stood inside a corridor then it might as well just have been vex armor lol
(See unified Codex for Chroma energy tank build. INSANE sentinel companion build.) I am currently running Chroma with Incarnon dread (With cd cc riven for 225 crit, 11x damage) and a gas damage setup. I helminthed nourish onto chroma and am running arcane battery and arcane grace. I am running the sacrificial mods for health and armor, adaptation, guardian armor, and power strength mods. I have 3 power strength and 2 energy pickup shards on him. I am running negative power efficiency because of arcane battery and nourish. He is basically unkillable by anything below level 200 steel path. I sat in front of 20 LVL185 corrupted heavy gunner steel path eximus units and they COULD NOT kill me with my buffs up.
i think it'd be quite cool if his 4 made him grow wings and fly like jade/hildryn/titania, and it'd be cool to see 1 changed into a spammable ability that hits in front of him (maybe in a cone, extending width scaling with range like how oberon's grass does), and perhaps it applies the status matching his energy type to enemies hit... it'd certainly add a fresh coat of paint while still keeping the good stuff
yk, ive loved chrome from the moment i got his prime. the revelation of the vex armor xoris interaction will probably make me go fucking apeshit tmrw when i try it. thx for the great video
Congrats on the six figures for the primary video!! Definitely deserved you’re putting out great content! The fury/glaive multiplicative buff is weird. I’m fairly certain it’s a function of a multiplier being added to heavy attacks which would seem intended but could be that it wasn’t intended to do that with Fury since Fury wasn’t always an additive bonus. Power Throw stacks also multiply his damage buff which becomes really funny really quick. We’ll see if that interaction sticks around. At least multiplicative gun CO will still work well with him, especially so if you’re willing to use primed bane mods. I decided not to go narrow minded with mine to become a squad buffer of sorts, his ability to bullet jump twice actually gives him some really decent mobility options to stick to teammates and traverse annoying maps. The build I’ve had most luck on Duviri level cap is my creeping terrify build. Don’t need an excessive amount of strength if they’re stripped, can help with shield gating and cc at the same time if the team is getting overwhelmed. Ever since his armor calculation was changed to be additive as well I’ve never been able to do solo level cap with health tanking again so i switched to a more balanced build with good success. Still, I’m not the type to call a frame really good because of specific synergies. Completing most game modes easily isn’t really a feat to me considering every frame in the game can do that since weapons are so good right now even without weapon buffers. Does he have strong combos? Sure, but you take away your ability of choice for loadout and the cracks start to show. Vex armor is still a nerfed version of what it used to be with the reasoning behind the nerf being something everyone can do with Madurai now, elemental ward has too many limitations for anything other than the minor stat buffs being useful, and we already know his first and 4th are just awful. He’s ranked lower than other frames not cause he can’t be strong, but because he requires full investment to do things other frames can just do. His kit is simply outdated and lacking. With that said, I think Warframe UA-camrs go overboard with their rankings. The balance in this game is way too close to really have a D tier. Frames should be ranked from S+ to B at the minimum.
Honestly for a rework I would like to see effigy and spectral scream merged into one ability where you sprout your wings and start flying and your able to shoot the standard effigy projectiles or you can breathe a aoe fire beam that does all 4 statuses but doesn’t merge them and then replace his 1 with some sort of movement ability
Chroma has always been a top tier health tank and weapons platform. I just think he doesn't really stand out much since his 3 is kinda inconvenient to use (have to remove base damage mods for best performance, has to charge up by taking health and shield damage, has to be recast before it runs out to maintain buffs) and you can get similar results on most other frames by putting Eclipse on them. I also think a melee influence / Xoris nerf might be on the way, so enjoy it while it lasts
imma be honest, I dont think it will happen. Also I completely agree with vex armor but for glaive weapons specifically no frame comes close to the damage chroma deals with a glaive (maybe saryn roar cause her 3 deals double damage for melee weapons)
Chroma bad isn't because he explicitly weak but because he is: 1. Hard to set-up compared to other similar frames. 2. pretty much on par with other tanky stat-booster frames such as Rhino. 3. require specific build strategy while the same Rhino just gives multiplicative faction damage to anything with high double dipping potential for DoTs. So, in summary he isn't weak. It's simply the question on why on earth would you spend so much effort on Croma when you can just get Rhino, slap generic mods and you good to go with similar result to Croma and with less clunky gameplay.
I mean, I face tank archons with him since his damage and defense scaling absolutely helps against them. Overall he’s a great weapons platform, I’ve even seen an awesome guardian armor energy tank build that I think is so cool. Also with the changes allowing vex armor to gain power based on melee or ranged kills it really helps his kit flow better.
Chroma does need some type of rework. Maybe not to his 2 or 3, but definitely to his 1st and 4th. Those abilities are so weak that they hold Chroma back.
Thank you so much man for giving Chroma the recognition he needs. I main Chroma and while he is very good in general he is an absolute menace when you give him any glaive, and in squads i deal regularly 90% of the damage to show how stonrg and underrated he is. You're one of the rare person talking about it, thanks.
After 4,000 hours of underrating chroma and only seeing him as mastery fodder, I decided to try for a pure gimmick build of Heat Dragon Chroma. I did not expect to be converted to a Chroma main, but I am now experimenting with builds based on the other three elements because I just had so much damn fun soloing the Archon Hunt and Netracells with this absolute unit of a frame. There's a lot this community can learn about investing in non-dps frames. Often times I find it a lot more fun to use a gimmick build than an "efficient" one.
Here is a rework idea: His 1 becomes an energy ball that explodes on contact (range, ability str). Still retains the elemental swapping but an enemy that is hit by the toxin version gets a toxin proc, then you switch to heat and when it gets hit by the heat version the enemy gets both a heat proc and a gas proc and refreshing the status duration. Maybe you could rearrange the elemental damage order so you can get your preferred elemental combos faster and easier. Change his 4 to launch a 1 that is the next element in your wheel while it is out. So if you are on toxin and heat is your next on rotation your effigy launches a heat ball where you are aiming directly after you launch your toxin ball there for a toxin, heat and gas proc.
9:54 i want them to just rework his ultimate's augment, and instead let him become the pelt, be able to fly around and scream whenever while being buffed by my abilities...
// English (Translate) I feel that a rework that could be given to Chroma to make it more fun would be the following: Skill 1: Leave it only to change the elements, I simply say this because added to the other skills it could end up being broken. Skill 2: That works as it is now Skill 3: It would still work in the same way, but the main change would be that instead of having to stay close to your companions to give them the buffs, they would simply stay until the skill ends (Like Rhino's does) Skill 4: Replace it with a kind of “Dragon Mode” similar to the fourth skills of Voruna and Valkyr, only using the e he can attack normally (melee) and using the main shot he releases his breath.
His fire ward needs to have both health and armor scaling with his vex being reverted to its previous multiplicative values before his nerf. His ice should give overguard, lightning is good where it is for shield focus, and toxin should just be a general additive damage buff to guns to work with his vex. This alone would make him have different playstyle options based on preference, content, and team composition. His 1 and 4 need complete overhauls, as his 4 is detrimental to his survival and 1 does nothing but change his element, with fire breath doing *some* damage to unarmored enemies, but your gun obviously would be far more efficient.
I found a home. I found chroma so cool when i first got him, but eventually got underwhelmed by him due to pther frames. Now ideas i have for him is incorporate the orowyrms from Duviri into him thematically cause thats the closest to dragons we have as enemies, and an augment that pilfers specifically for credits cause dragons need their horde.
Finally a video from someone who gets it! Big streams and videos hate Chroma but I’ve seen their builds. I’d hate Chroma too if I built him like they do.
Damn, I was once a meta-slave. As a new player I used to go to the Codex and Universe and look at all the fancy Warframes and Primes that are out there for me to farm. And every time..... Every single time, I used to look at Chroma Prime and think that he is THE coolest looking Warframe. But I had watched many videos and tier lists by then which had oriented my thinking to treat Chroma like a sub par Warframe. This video changed that. Chroma is not a bad warframe at all! The video is proof enough. You know quite an interesting thing though, personally I feel like Chroma and Valkyr are in a similar position. Both are insanely strong and tanky( Valkyr just straight up becomes invulnerable), but a literal half of their kit is bad or very niche( straight up bad in Valkyr's case since Effigy is at least useful in Profit Taker). Guess it's time to drop some plat and get me a share of that Dragon blood
Effigy is still bad, just has 1 niche effect that it does, if valkyrs 3 or 1 gave you double arcanes from eidolons it would still be bad, just not never used just because they gave the ablity a neat side effect does not make the ability good, as you never use his 4 for the actual 4 itself Chroma needs a rework, because if half of your kit doesnt work, and theother half is just okay, you do need a rework
I have the same build but with combat discipline and arcane avenger instead of molt augmented, so you do more dmg, build dmg vex armor without needing of taking damage just killing, so arcane avenger and grace are active forever ( and aoe viral procs of nourish but with negative range isnt that significative)
Fun fact, if you max out the stacks of vex armor, the max stacks won't go up even if you have a million times more strength than you did on your initial cast, it's a known bug that is sadly something you have to play around.
if i'm using Nourish, and i have the ability to, i'm using Energy Nexus. i like the idea of using Combat Discipline as the aura. Prob use the Furis instead of Compressa. Depends on my experience with that.
If DE reworks his 1, 4, and Toxin ward and I’ll try him. Rn he’s just sitting there since I built his prime already, but he doesn’t interest me at all. I can basically do what Chroma does but with Mirage. Not to the same extent, but she’s fun and she puts a lot of colors on the screen. Also she’s going to be far more consistent with Dante’s 🥳. Hopefully Chroma gets some love soon cuz he actually looks cool. Sucks that I decided not to get the Lunar New Year skin…
Absolutely Agree. I think so many people would play him if the useless part of his kit was reworked to at least be fun. Thats why I am suggesting a movement ability and a new passive for the very least
Warframe community in general is borked Torid incarnon is pretty good but its super underwhelming compared to other incarnon genesis weapons Literally every frame is crazy strong when utilized properly The list of super powerful weapons is endless in this game I'll never understand
Are you sure you were doing the heavy detonation right? That’s usually the biggest issues with getting glaives to do the big damage for most starting off with them.
I first got into this game a bit after Garuda prime came out and her passive was reworked. I really liked her and couldn’t understand how people thought she was a bad frame. Fast forward to today people love to say she’s one of the best frames in the game. People just don’t seem to try things and hold onto their perceptions.
Could you please give me an explanation on lvl cap circuit limbo? He was my favorite frame when starting out, but now I just cannot find a reason to use him :/
Chroma's main problem is the identity isn't there, and what he provides any other frame can easily achieve. Xoris/glaive prime are just broken anyway, doesn't need chroma to make it happen. But we have ways to make our weapons do stupid amounts of damage, and make frames very survivable via sheild gating. Most tier lists look at warframes as tools and they aren't wrong that there are better "tools" than chroma by a long shot, but I as a MR 30 player am looking for novelty and good "flow state" frames. Chroma doesn't offer any of that rn and I wish that he did. Dragon hunter frame is cool idea but it doesn't really work as is rn. I would find it cool if he was an element support frame through elemental ward applying elements to a teams weapons or just better fulfilling a dragon fantansy. The visuals would be a great place to start. Hopefully they keep the trend of reworking frames going so they can refine the good bones that are in place already
He's bad not because of damage (far from it as we can see) but from the design of his abilities especially from his 1 and 4 (They are simply useless for most content). As we can see damage for Chroma isn't a problem, Vex armor have work arounds to make the conditions easier to meet but making Vex armor work perfectly doesn't make his 1st and 4th useless. Helminth alleviates 1 of his useless ability slots from being useless, making him have 3 useful ability instead of just 2, but again compared to most other Frames they only have 1 ability which can be their helminth slot. Again damage is not a problem for Chroma, I kinda think power creep is what lowered his value as a Warframe. Kinda like how Volt became better for Eidolons because damage stopped becoming a problem, and how fast you kill the Eidolons became the focus (Also because Volt got eclipse from helminth). I also think that for effectiveness alone he may not be the best but I don't think he is so bad that he's unusable, I just think that Chroma being D-tier on most lists are the results of being compared to the Top tier frames in terms of effectiveness, utility, and comfort/fun. Gauss for example is an extremely CHEAP Warframe to build and to make work and do well, while Chroma needs a lot of investment to make his abilities more useful (which on base he only has 2 useful ones). TL;DR - Chroma not great but good enough to be played casually, just needs investment. Compared to other frames he look bad. 1st and 4th ability needs a rework. Other than the objective bs, he is subjectively very fun if you want to see big numbers.
I absolutely agree. I even said I want to see him getting completely new abilities because there is just no flow and no fun in playing him. Other than that he is strong as hell
I love chroma and personally think he does need a rework but hes definitely at the bottom of the rework list, 2 and 3 are fine but his 1 and 4 need to be changed entirely in my opinion
Imporant: For people saying Chroma is not doing anything here and its Xoris dealing the damage I made a shorts video comparing Vex armor with Eclipse and Roar: ua-cam.com/users/shortsS3sfiyRVaQU
What are your thoughts on this Chroma build? Will you try this out?
I don't get how it's multiplicative and would like a detailed explainatio, also I think they only need to rework his one and make his 4 work like a primer and cost less and that's it also make his passive increased parkour velocity or something
@@daedora1021 There is nothing to make detailed here.. it seems non intended interaction but its been like this for a very long time. Glaive explosions just get multiplied by vex armor.
Good video. I typically don't mess with disruption but it looks like the next update will have a lot of disruption so I am getting ready for it.
Been with Chroma since Sanctuary, been with Chroma since Arcanes 1.0, been with Chroma since Eidolons & Lanka/Plasmor, been with him through shrines nerf, through the old profit taker meta, something about this frame I just can't let go, despite all the signs saying so.
The Goat understands me. There’s just something about him that makes me keep coming back and doing something crazy with him.

Freaking Godzilla/Dovahkiin frame
I love your chroma toxin build its so cool
People who say vex armor is bad just repeat "base dmg bonus is bad" without thinking about how much of a bonus it is, and I'm glad you are talking about it
It's not just that but they don't like that you need to take health damage for it.
Assuming you're only running merciless, it's a 60% multiplicative bonus.
I'd prefer to just have a subsumed roar, because it double dips on procs.
I thought so too until with Khora I found myself a chroma in the team and I did 26m of proc slash. it's not much but mine was a farm build 0.o

Based Warframe youtuber
And exactly as you said a lot of warframes can nowadays deal with a lot of type of missions.
I wouldn't call him powerful if there are so many other frames that do what he does but more comfortably.
Just pick Gyre everywhere she's the best
i love chroma, he was my first prime and now reading the new patch gets me hyped: "Vex Armor can charge its damage buff by getting ranged kills and its armor buff by getting melee or ability kills."
Even with this in mind, I still think Chroma's 1 and 4 need some love
Have spectral scream empower elemental ward’s damage when you are wielding melee weapons and have it fire homing status projectiles when using a ranged weapon and have vex armor apply to its damage. With effigy I would love to see it transformed into a sentry that follows you instead, mimicking your spectral scream and elemental ward maybe even if you swap your damage type while it’s active your elements combine into a combo element.
They said they prefer leaving in one weak or fun ability in so you can use helminth and swap them with another ability for most frames. So I'd say 1 is good enough for that, just 4 needs some love thats all.
@@RexRagerunner No that is just flat out dumb.
@@RexRagerunnerI definitely see that in the way they design frames, but neither 1 or 4 are “fun” and I think people can argue that 2 and 3 aren’t exactly fun abilities either. He kind of reminds me of rhino, he seems way too simple and barely has any build variations
The miter/latron incarnon mode scales multiplicatively with dmg so it does crazy dmg with this setup ty for opening my eyes to this strat.

Sounds like atlases rumbler transformation (its an augment for his 4)(it's aweful...)
That's called Voruna
Making his 4th like Aatrox ult from LoL or letting him change into eastern kind of dragon with modified skills during ult duration
Great video! I made Chroma long time ago, but i never played with him that much, now i gonna try him, thanks for the builds :)
dystopia did level cap video with chroma + glaive, explanation: some weird interaction which leads to eclipse like behaviour on glaives.
As a new player your videos have helped me understand this games end game so much more than any other creator. I appreciate all the effort you put into these videos! :)
You're the man, dropping these nuggets of juicy frame info on us hungry tenno
There is also some funky interaction with glaives and octavias amp, the xoris and falcor are very good on her.
this makes so much sense, i was runing a steel path survival with the xoris(barely invested) with 2 chroma randoms and every time i hit for like 2 mil when i got the vex armour buff and it made no sense to me. it was the first i also used a glaive explosion mechanic (returning player btw)
I would love to see a video explaining your circuit limbo build and what you do for each gamemode
Its the next video
Glad to hear
With what DE recently attempted to do to mirage when the community said make eclipse a toggle, I'm scared to let them touch the dragon. I would rather keep his 2 and 3 good and useful to a decent extent than risk him being gutted.
The mirage eclipse nerfs are being put in place due to her melee
Weapions like glaives gun-blades and anyweapon with augmented aoe+projectiles is a bit broken on mirage as all 4 of her clones deal the manage instead of just 2 like with guns
This leads to certain melees getting a little silly ie
Arca triton, this hammer on its own with a sub optimal build can already reach 2+ million eletric damage on its heavy slams
doing this 5 times in a single hit without combo just because you have mirage clones active, imagine what you could do with eclipse
Imagine all the melees that have a large sudden burst aoe damage
Doing that five times + eclipse dps at all times with no downside would be a bit silly
Well looks like they adjusted Vex Armor a tad, now you no longer need to recieve damage to activate the buffs at all.
Feels really good so far.

EXACTLY
I watch aznvasionplays for wacky builds and mr warframeguy for meme builds, they gave me motivation to forma non-meta frames
Chroma is my 2nd most played frame, i'll try the cheaper version of this build since i dont have that many resources, i'll be back and tell my experience
After 3 weeks i farmerd a lot and started using the first build shown, its just amazin how much damage you deal while not worrying about your energy, i already enjoyed playing choroma but this combo makes him go to the next level
i personally love his passive, especially with a parkour velocity shard, as it gives you an additional jump.
Since jumps and rolls maintain momentum, you can go pretty damn fast with him by doing
bulletjump>jump>dodge>jump
(doing a second bullet jump instead tends to be slower but it has its uses)
Honestly the simplest thing they could do that'd help him a lot is making his 2 recastable because its such a pain having to wait half a minute or more to want to use a different element on the fly (toxin for me to make incarnon transformations go faster).
If he were to get reworked, I would imagine it something like this:
Spectral Scream: Reworked to be an elemental ball of energy that shoots out and lasts for a certain duration.
It could just be as simple as an augment that acts as a mini Combat Discipline
Effigy: It could just be as simple as copying the usage of all of Chroma's other base kit abilities. Letting the effigy have its own elemental ward and vex armor would greatly help extend buff range while also not needing the chroma to stick around it
I think effigy just needs to go straight up
I will absolutely try this! I’m also very interested in seeing your limbo build! I love seeing your anti meta content, learning new ways to play the game is very fun to me. Thank you!❤
It's almost as if those big established content creatures just parrot eachother without thinking.
I also wanted to say i really like the intro music, it feels like Chroma has returned to claim his place or something like that 😂. Good edit.
Ice tank Chroma used to wreck star chart back in the day he was basically invincible
limbo is amazing as long as you understand how to play him, when to bubble etc, amazing for any stationary objectives, the only problem are when people from the outside don understand the shifts and what they need to do
I use pillage for the stripping and cleansing and noticed i was running into energy issues so i began using dethcube and energy generator with duplex bond and helstrum and now i get tons of energy
just updated my chroma build and made a bunch of weapon configs without base damage mods for him

Chroma was my first prime way bag and never is still one of my least played frame thats gona change now😂 amazing vid man
this frame just tlikes to die as soon as you spawn in the mission
His new augment is like icing on the cake(well, more like icing on vex armor). Infinite vex armor duration, insane health regen on kill(comparable or even greater than wisps mote), free up the aura mod slot and damage reduction for your team.

i think it'd be quite cool if his 4 made him grow wings and fly like jade/hildryn/titania, and it'd be cool to see 1 changed into a spammable ability that hits in front of him (maybe in a cone, extending width scaling with range like how oberon's grass does), and perhaps it applies the status matching his energy type to enemies hit... it'd certainly add a fresh coat of paint while still keeping the good stuff

Chroma bad isn't because he explicitly weak but because he is:
Chroma is getting buffed :"D
07:14 he had over 5600 hp. Can someone explain how that came to be? Have a chroma myself and never had anything like that happening to me

So love the video! Fun fact: Chroma's 1 is affected by the Vex Armor damage buff :).
I watched a Chroma do 89% of the teams damage and the majority of kills in a Netracell run.
He was a dragon among mere gods
Here is a rework idea:
His 1 becomes an energy ball that explodes on contact (range, ability str).
Yo drop that limbo circuit build please
As a newer player (mr10 now) who loves using my xoris(only wep I added formas too) thus tempts to make them
I like his passive a lot. Feels like I'm crippled without it.
//
English (Translate)
I feel that a rework that could be given to Chroma to make it more fun would be the following:
Skill 1: Leave it only to change the elements, I simply say this because added to the other skills it could end up being broken.
Skill 2: That works as it is now
Skill 3: It would still work in the same way, but the main change would be that instead of having to stay close to your companions to give them the buffs, they would simply stay until the skill ends (Like Rhino's does)
Skill 4: Replace it with a kind of “Dragon Mode” similar to the fourth skills of Voruna and Valkyr, only using the e he can attack normally (melee) and using the main shot he releases his breath.
I fondly remember oneshotting Orphix during Operation Scarlet Spear with Chroma and a Zaw.
Vex armor not only acts like a multiplier on glaives, it also double dips.
I love dragon boy, but let's not pretend that his whole kit couldn't be replicated by a couple strong mods.
4:14 its the best as long as you use glaives and weapons with multiplicative gunco.
Effigy is still bad, just has 1 niche effect that it does, if valkyrs 3 or 1 gave you double arcanes from eidolons it would still be bad, just not never used
just because they gave the ablity a neat side effect does not make the ability good, as you never use his 4 for the actual 4 itself
Chroma needs a rework, because if half of your kit doesnt work, and theother half is just okay, you do need a rework
I have the same build but with combat discipline and arcane avenger instead of molt augmented, so you do more dmg, build dmg vex armor without needing of taking damage just killing, so arcane avenger and grace are active forever ( and aoe viral procs of nourish but with negative range isnt that significative)
Ye as i said nourish i only use for energy regen
Fun fact, if you max out the stacks of vex armor, the max stacks won't go up even if you have a million times more strength than you did on your initial cast, it's a known bug that is sadly something you have to play around.
ye indeed, but this also is the reason you can KEEP the strength from vex armor. They have to make it work like Wisp motes imo
if i'm using Nourish, and i have the ability to, i'm using Energy Nexus. i like the idea of using Combat Discipline as the aura. Prob use the Furis instead of Compressa. Depends on my experience with that.
Go crazy, Try out stuff. The main thing I am showing is the Xoris interaction
Will give this a shot. Really excited because I do enjoy the idea of using chroma for level cap content
oh shit you dropped lorn... this video just went next level
Warframe community in general is borked
Torid incarnon is pretty good but its super underwhelming compared to other incarnon genesis weapons
Literally every frame is crazy strong when utilized properly
The list of super powerful weapons is endless in this game
I'll never understand
Either sir Daniel fortesque has a chroma warframe at a certain point in Medievil
i did everything you did in the video but still i wouldn't even hit a million dmg. impossible reach dmg cap.... can anybody help me out?
Same here can hit 10m or so
Are you sure you were doing the heavy detonation right?
That’s usually the biggest issues with getting glaives to do the big damage for most starting off with them.
I first got into this game a bit after Garuda prime came out and her passive was reworked. I really liked her and couldn’t understand how people thought she was a bad frame. Fast forward to today people love to say she’s one of the best frames in the game. People just don’t seem to try things and hold onto their perceptions.
Right? Garuda is busted af. Detailed vid on her prob soon?
Could you please give me an explanation on lvl cap circuit limbo? He was my favorite frame when starting out, but now I just cannot find a reason to use him :/
A lot of people requested so I will make my next video about him
Chroma's main problem is the identity isn't there, and what he provides any other frame can easily achieve.
He's quite fun with the energy tank build
My eyes have opened
My status in warframe is Chroma personified. I'm slowly turning into a Chroma main.
Other than that he is strong as hell
a full dedicated video on chroma glaive interraction about time
I love chroma and personally think he does need a rework but hes definitely at the bottom of the rework list, 2 and 3 are fine but his 1 and 4 need to be changed entirely in my opinion
I really hope he and valkyr are the next in line, at least enraged valkyr is fun. Chroma is so boring
the only problem with this is that stance mods for glavies are a pain in the cock to get💀
Why can he not "fly"or hover would be more balanced maybe. As a dragon frame it would make sense
