Secondary surge is either worded poorly or the buff in the HUD isn’t displaying the correct numbers. I use Secondary Surge with my Banshee Prime that only has a little over 700 max energy, and I can cast her first ability 3 times to stack up to the 8x damage bonus. The original comment pointed out that they believe this ability to stack partial charges of Secondary Surge up to 8x is a bug, but I believe that it is fully intended.
I tried this build with a few changes (Umbral Intensify (Due to umbra forma), Rage and Helstrum, Halikar Wraith) and damn, actually unkillable with Nourish. Feels like you gain more energy with Rage/Adrenaline coupled with Nourish, than you lose with Quick Thinking. Went as far as to lvl ~1200 in Lua Disruption in SP, no falloff whatsoever. 10/10 Build
Using yellow archon shards for bonus energby instead of just health regen and arcane grace instead of the crit buff is much better IMHO. You keep your energy extremely high. You only need 2 or 3 yellow shards and run nourish and you have god mode plus all of the viral procs that boost damage. Energy is worth 2.4 health in this build, so regenning 7.5 health per second is equivalent to 3 energy per second. With this, you get about 200 energy per pickup, which is worth WAY more equivalent HP than shard regen, and in addition, you don't run low on energy at crucial times.
This Chroma idea is AWESOME! You inspired me to finally try Chroma. Your battery "circuit" thing is perfect with Combat Discipline, dying from killing 35 enemies with a Xoris throw will never be an issue! Very nice work... I saw your video's thumbnail like a week ago and thought "Now that's something truly different", then I listened to it in the background and decided to try it out. Before this weekend the only thing I knew about Chroma was "Lose health to get base damage", but after diving in head first, I just finished my battery Chroma tonight. Mine turned out almost identical (I mean battery power loop, so obviously) but half my mods are different- P. Flow, Quick Thinking, Adaptation, Blind rage, and Hunter Adrenaline (I accidentally started with Rage) ended up the same. I went with two Umbrals and Arcane Reaper because "on melee kill" seemed to fit the vibe. Now I just have to figure out what Archon Shards I need before I use the +200% strength invig that I just happened to get this week. Thanks again and props!
At first i didnt think this would be so potent...but with some tweaks this could work really well in my chroma build that i already have going. Thank you, very well put together.
Great minds think alike! A friend of mine came up with a build very close to this. He streams on Twitch; I was watching as the build came together. Though I think he uses Energy Conversion instead of Transient Fortitude and subsumes Nourish over the '1' ability. I think he also does Arcane Rage instead of Arcane Avenger. I forget what he did for weapons and companion though.
ive been looking for builds that fit my new obsession of using quickthinking adaptation, but man this ones gatta be the most put together ive ever felt, ill be playing this til the end of days, than you for birthing a chroma main in me
Holy! I saw the initial screen shot and said "this is just old chroma" in a way it is, The reason quick thinking builds dropped out of favor was because it was easy enough to just get killed through your energy pool... Arcane barrier is actually getting the juices flowing, I'm almost certain this is not fully optimized yet, I wanna crunch some numbers now. Thx for the concept. I wonder how far it can go.
@@Unified-Codex I did :) Nourish was a huge change. Running more health over more regen was very smart. Personally I'd run vitality over health shards, just because it buffs my intensify, and str from shards is easier to slot. (doesn't come with drawbacks unlike transient fortitude and blind rage) I'd prefer molt augmented over avenger, and growing power over combat discipline (crit gives diminishing returns at a point) And I want to boost my ehp with vex and nourish as high as possible. Still a really goated build though, and I'm grinding the resources to try it out. Also I knew vex armor double dipped on exodia contagion, I did not know it was all thrown weapons, and now I wonder which one is truly the best (and more importantly, the coolest to have) Xoris has definitely always been a top contender.
As someone whos been slotting in quick thinking and hunter adrenaline more and more onto my builds with regen mechanics to literally never die. Thank you for giving me something to drop on my friends who think Im just meme framing
prob gonna add you in game to compare notes, i plan on taking this build for my third chroma but changing up just a tad since i support new players and adolescent tenno a lot
Octavia also buffs the xoris quite wonky, very good damage (on groups). The reinforce bond mod works on hounds also and with dupex and mystic bond you habe a very potent energy battery that primes with electric (works with archon stretch) i got mine modded for cold gas (or viral heat) and this thing can clear hallways. Glad to see chroma got some love, played him recently, he is still a beast.
@@zeusraichdorofeev5871 i run high efficiency, a lil bit of strength, flow etc. with gloom as helminth, so basically i can armor strip with my 3rd when i need it and im just really really tanky
Tried it out, but switched empower with nourish and avenger with molt reconstruct. Opens up archon shards as well for duration to make it even more comfortable. Infinite energy and health. Viral balances out the loss of base dmg. Sure, nourish is overused but it feels like best in slot here.
As a note, if you're running an incarnon pistol and glaive, you can get the incarnon UI to appear by throwing the glaive switching to your secondary while it's out and then keeping it out, that will let the UI handler "see" the incarnon UI element is supposed to be drawn.
This build is a little above my current account progress, but I'll try to fiddle around with Chroma a bit, as it is currently collecting dust in one of my slots. Very interesting and original build. I really love these creative ideas, even if they seemingly are so strong that they almost break the game.
normal 2014 build. quick thinking rage used to be meta till they added the stagger to quick thinking then people started dropping it, then shield gating came around now overguard gating has arrived
having the helminth as a flex slot is really cool because it means you can run nourish or gloom for more damage or survivability; an armour strip like pillage or terrify; a grouping ability like larva or ensnare to potentially raise KPM on survival; maybe even something weird like petrify to boost loot with its augment or wrathful advance for memeing with melees
Very interesting take on Chroma, I usually just use a max duration/strength build with the amalgam daikyu mod and a nikana zaw with exodia contagion but I might have to try this.
Thanks for the setup and the idea for the build. I may not follow it the exact same way as you did (no secondary surge, no Pflow, no 4 tau blue set to health given that his augment exists) but i would still give it a try AND you also inpired me to make a companion DPS build with either heat inherit or corrosive blast given that base damage is not an issue for them. Btw, i did some math. 3641% armor bonus is equivilant of 16'834.5 armor on chroma prime which is 98.24% DR to your health (and energy)
Not sure if you are aware @Unified_Codex but you should most likely be using Cold guardian armor so you can get even more armor or Electric so you can get the full scorn bonus without regenerating shields? It only requires 100 health lost to reach the max fury bonus so the health bonus from fire shouldn't be necessary with your setup. Overguard from secondary fortifier can also be used instead of the electric choice for the scorn bonus since overguard counts towards the "shields" lost. Small thing but it's worth considering yes? And I didn't do the math but is roar a higher power strength bonus than empower here? As many others have mentioned thanks for showcasing these builds, I knew that arcane battery was going to be a huge meta shift I just didn't know how yet!
"Chroma is a bad frame" lmao. Good video dude Steel Path Fissure Conjunction Survival is also my absolute favourite mode. Great for farming and stress-testing builds
So i had 2 umbral formas on my chroma, for those in a similar position, put on umbral fiber and intensify. not only does fiber give you more energy because of battery but the health loss is not even a downside. I ran this build WITHOUT adaption. adrenaline with nourish/quickthinking gave me so much energy i was topped up nearly at all times. I litterally couldnt die even tho i was constantly at 20 hp. you can also drop flow becuase with just battery youll have over 1200 energy. I only had p continuity, blind rage, hunter adrenaline, quick thinking, both umbral mods and the augment. that alone was more than enough so you have quite a bit of flexability with this build surprisingly. Nourish was on his 1 and i even had his effigy out, STILL was topped off on energy at all times. Free mini cc to boot! whats even crazier is i would last a long time without casting nourish or elemental ward and just kep vex armor up. still couldnt die. this is amazing!
That is a very interesting build lmao. I don't know if I will ever build it mainly cause I shift between stuff too much but it seems really solid nonetheless. In regards to what you said about jade light the whole beam, assuming you are standing still for it, does 85 million damage no amount of health tanking can stop that.
I think I’ll stick to my more traditional brute force Umbral Chroma, but this is an awesome way to use the new Arcane Battery and crate a new way to tank. Awesome build, great concept, and if I invest into a second Chroma prime without the umbral forma, I’ll give it a shot!
Fyi, at around 16:40, your vex armor didn’t run out, you were just unlucky to have violence as the acolyte, as she can disable your abilities when you are within a certain range of her.
This is why i love warframe. Even if the community agrees that Chroma is one of the "bad" frames, there are still many ways to build him and make him funny.
Man this is the second time I've came across a build and someone was thinking the exact same thing as me xD It happened with nezha divine retribution + dark verse And now with this- I originally found this synergy when I was trying to max out my energy pool and tried it on valkyr then realized it's super effective on health tanking
not sure if you fellas knew, but Xoris force procs electricity regardless of what elements you mod on it, you dont need to put electricity mods on it to accommodate Melee Influence
Didn't even see this video before and I've been doing this. Running around with 1750 energy and just not dying is so awesome. I run it with book is my secondary and latron prime for steel path or ax 52 for non sp.
My favorite chroma build has to be my "Math Dragon" Build. Vex armor for a ton of base damage, cinta bow for multiplicative G.A. scaling *and* split flight for a ton of multishot, nourish for viral and 5 Tauforged Violet shards for a ton of elemental damage. Build for gas/electric and crit, with a robo hound to proc primary frostbite for even more multishot and crit damage and to proc a ton more elements for G.A.
I got an energy max invig for my garuda prime so with just full umbral, battery and primed flow she had over 2k energy max, I thought it was a hilarious build so I'm really happy to see more like this
I took the build for a spin and also did some calculations: for non-survival content you really don't need adaptation, since vex armor puts you to basically cap resist at 96.75%. Instead I liked duration in this slot. I also underestimated the value of blue shards, they help with chip damage so very much - even at 3 (I replaced 1 of them with yellow shard for parkour velocity). Like the build, but it's still chroma, he only has 1 ability.
Much better idea to keep Adaptation and replace Flow with Narrow Minded - no such thing as cap resist, adap is up to another 90% multiplicative DR regardless of how much you had beforehand
I went with an Umbra-Nourish build Specifically to use Chroma's 4, And I gotta tell you it's hilarious to be able to casually keep Dragon out for 5 mins.
Didn't even see this video before and I've been doing this. Running around with 1750 energy and just not dying is so awesome. Problem with warframe is who cares if you do a million damage or have a build, everything just dies in one hit anyways so builds like this are just really great at overkil
I might have to try this build out on my testbed Chroma before putting it on my Chroma Prime, but I already love the silliness of it and I only just got to the augment in the build lmao
2:38 or alternatively, if youre like me and dont use PSF because you dont have that much trouble dodging knockdowns, use Power Drift so youre only losing 1% from using Umbral Intensify rather than Archon. Also really appreciate a different and interesting yet effective build for Chroma that doesnt just default into using all 3 Umbral mods like 80% of builds out there. Also also, 9:32 perfect thing to replace the riven with that also just got added? Semi-Pistol Cannonade. +300% base damage and +1.5 Punch through in exchange for not being able to mod fire rate, which if youre going to be firing this in between ability casts, isnt really going to matter.
Excellent point, although 300% base damage when I already had 3,000%+ from chroma would be a 10% bump or less, actually way less damage than an ele mod
I have done energy/health/shield tanking builds with Qorvex, Grendel, Atlas, and Harrow so far. Couldn’t quite figure out what to do with Chroma. This just gave me so much inspiration. Thank you! If you swap archon intensify and transient for umbral fiber and intensify you probably wouldn’t even need flow. It would just be overkill of energy. Then you can flex that for augur secrets and achieve the same strength you already have. Or in my case i’m going to try energy nexus as an additional health/energy regen with two blue shards and possibly two red strength shards. That’ll give 100%duration which will let you keep your 2nd ability up longer and be a little less to manage while still tanking
This reminds me of some mind over matter synergy from path of exile. So the enegy gived you over 5k "effective" health before armor is applied and you recover energy/health from taking damage
Great vid! If you really wanted to remove "all" base damage mods on Xoris, you could replace Killing Blow with Melee Elementalist. Also Falcor can edge out Xoris imo, especially with the riven dispo- plus the throw tracks enemies!
You can subsume Empower to either replace transient fortitude and get back a mod slot and tons of duration while keeping the same-ish strength or just boost the power strength up even more :)
I'm doing arcane battery and energy tanking things on nidus as well, mostly to combat the stationariness of nidus and doing ye olde "crit machine" augment shenanigans lazily. Funny to see the use of the nidus spectre on your showcase for that link bonus.

I think it would be interesting to try this with Molt as your helminth as it will allow you spam an ability to build surge, as molt has no real animation and is basically instant cast. Not that such a rapid output of damage would ever be realistically required

The original comment pointed out that they believe this ability to stack partial charges of Secondary Surge up to 8x is a bug, but I believe that it is fully intended.
Just this chroma build alone, carried me through elite deep archemedia. Amazing work.
BRO FR IT WORKS ON DEEP ARCHEMEDIA?
I tried this build with a few changes (Umbral Intensify (Due to umbra forma), Rage and Helstrum, Halikar Wraith) and damn, actually unkillable with Nourish. Feels like you gain more energy with Rage/Adrenaline coupled with Nourish, than you lose with Quick Thinking. Went as far as to lvl ~1200 in Lua Disruption in SP, no falloff whatsoever.
10/10 Build
I’m so glad I came across your channel. I love these weird builds. I can finally use my favorite looking frame again!
With this, you get about 200 energy per pickup, which is worth WAY more equivalent HP than shard regen, and in addition, you don't run low on energy at crucial times.
finally, somebody realizes the power of Verglas! Nice video keep it up!
I had Chroma and the Glaxion as options on Elite Deep Archimedea this week. This build worked great!
As soon as I saw the title I know what bro was going for, that is so sick I haven't thought about this, thanks for sharing :)
I had this style of a build for years. With archon and arcane make it even better. Nice finally seeing someone figure this out with chroma
Glad you enjoyed, and thankfully kills now stack his Vex Armor so taking damage is no longer mandated
Very awesome looking! Can't wait to try it out. I haven't touched Chroma in forever!
Me too
Yea this gets a sub and Bell on because it’s exactly what I need in my life some diversity in the Warframe Hivemind is nice
This is the best use ive seen so far of the new arcanes and glaxion mod great job
At first i didnt think this would be so potent...but with some tweaks this could work really well in my chroma build that i already have going. Thank you, very well put together.
Ah quick thinking my beloved. Haven't seen that in a build in so long
Great minds think alike!
I forget what he did for weapons and companion though.
ive been looking for builds that fit my new obsession of using quickthinking adaptation, but man this ones gatta be the most put together ive ever felt, ill be playing this til the end of days, than you for birthing a chroma main in me
THank you for giving me an intresting chroma build Will be building this tomorrow :)
having fun with this build... i was looking for a good chroma build. ty!
Check out the new version of the build in my more recent video!
@@Unified-Codex I did :) Nourish was a huge change.
Running more health over more regen was very smart.
Personally I'd run vitality over health shards, just because it buffs my intensify, and str from shards is easier to slot. (doesn't come with drawbacks unlike transient fortitude and blind rage)
I'd prefer molt augmented over avenger, and growing power over combat discipline (crit gives diminishing returns at a point) And I want to boost my ehp with vex and nourish as high as possible.
Still a really goated build though, and I'm grinding the resources to try it out.
Also I knew vex armor double dipped on exodia contagion, I did not know it was all thrown weapons, and now I wonder which one is truly the best
(and more importantly, the coolest to have)
Xoris has definitely always been a top contender.
Glad to see chroma got some love, played him recently, he is still a beast.
this is such an innovative build!
I was skeptical at the first glance of the build but god damn it looks fun, gonna try it out!
bring me back to max EHP rhino era 10 years ago.. good stuff codex
ive been maining this setup of quick thinking and etc on my ember, im surprised that people are unaware of it, good idea of putting it on a chroma.
But doesn't ember fet damage reduction only? Instead of actual armor? Could you elaborate?
@@zeusraichdorofeev5871 i run high efficiency, a lil bit of strength, flow etc. with gloom as helminth, so basically i can armor strip with my 3rd when i need it and im just really really tanky
This man IS a genious
Tried it out, but switched empower with nourish and avenger with molt reconstruct. Opens up archon shards as well for duration to make it even more comfortable. Infinite energy and health. Viral balances out the loss of base dmg. Sure, nourish is overused but it feels like best in slot here.
bro you cooked hard with this build, very nice
As a note, if you're running an incarnon pistol and glaive, you can get the incarnon UI to appear by throwing the glaive switching to your secondary while it's out and then keeping it out, that will let the UI handler "see" the incarnon UI element is supposed to be drawn.
This build is a little above my current account progress, but I'll try to fiddle around with Chroma a bit, as it is currently collecting dust in one of my slots.
Very interesting and original build. I really love these creative ideas, even if they seemingly are so strong that they almost break the game.
normal 2014 build. quick thinking rage used to be meta till they added the stagger to quick thinking then people started dropping it, then shield gating came around now overguard gating has arrived
this arcane is fun af on chroma, your energy is your new health and using this with Nourish is even better.
pure armor and energy build.
Cool build. Always fun to see non meta builds with new arcanes/abilities/mods added in.
having the helminth as a flex slot is really cool because it means you can run nourish or gloom for more damage or survivability; an armour strip like pillage or terrify; a grouping ability like larva or ensnare to potentially raise KPM on survival; maybe even something weird like petrify to boost loot with its augment or wrathful advance for memeing with melees
This build makes me think of a socket extender plugged to itself
Lol
Amazing build! I was looking to upgrade my chroma build. Thanks a lot, bro.
You don’t need to lose health or shields on chroma anymore - gun kills builds damage and melee kills builds armor
@@Unified-Codexwow cool I didn't know that
and you said yesterday you gonna upload it and here we are!!!!!!!!!!!
"Chroma is a bad frame" lmao. Good video dude
Steel Path Fissure Conjunction Survival is also my absolute favourite mode. Great for farming and stress-testing builds
"Would you lose?"
"Nah, I'd adapt."
Just FYI, melee builds can activate reinforced bond through pack leader since it can be activated with overguard.
I was thinking about building chroma with arcane battery, thx for showing this build now I'll have a way to start it XD
Really cool and interesting vid you earned my sub
I've been playing Chroma for last 8yrs and I've yet to get bored with Chroma . There's so many ways to play Chroma. 🥰😍
Fiber will not give you more energy as the armor obtained from vex armor already hits the 1,000 battery cap
@@Unified-Codex ah i see, i guess ill slot in health then, regardless i have 2 umbra slots and i doubt any other combo will fit
That is a very interesting build lmao. I don't know if I will ever build it mainly cause I shift between stuff too much but it seems really solid nonetheless. In regards to what you said about jade light the whole beam, assuming you are standing still for it, does 85 million damage no amount of health tanking can stop that.
this made me enjoy chroma. well done
Pretty much the same thing as everyone else. Nice build, nice presentation, using new things and being OK when enough is enough.
Aside from literally nobody else doing this, sure!
I was not aware that they finally fixed Guardian Armor and Archon Intensify. I'll be redoing my builds pronto.
Nourish would be much better. It triggers from combat discipline and multiplies incoming energy.
Which is why I mentioned it in the comments days ago!
Man this is the second time I've came across a build and someone was thinking the exact same thing as me xD
It happened with nezha divine retribution + dark verse
And now with this- I originally found this synergy when I was trying to max out my energy pool and tried it on valkyr then realized it's super effective on health tanking
not sure if you fellas knew, but Xoris force procs electricity regardless of what elements you mod on it, you dont need to put electricity mods on it to accommodate Melee Influence
If codex has no fans then I’m dead
You are a real one
I went with an Umbra-Nourish build Specifically to use Chroma's 4, And I gotta tell you it's hilarious to be able to casually keep Dragon out for 5 mins.
Didn't even see this video before and I've been doing this. Running around with 1750 energy and just not dying is so awesome. I run it with book is my secondary and latron prime for steel path or ax 52 for non sp.
Edit: if you're thinking about running this in the undercroft, there is currently a bug where cheat death procs before quick thinking.
Problem with warframe is who cares if you do a million damage or have a build, everything just dies in one hit anyways so builds like this are just really great at overkil
i cant believe how beautiful this is
Peculiar but nonetheless goated chroma build, wish I could be this creative lol, will definitely try it out it looks really fun.
@@Unified-Codex Absolutely fair, more just pointing it out as a riven replacement for those of us that dont have a riven for the Verglas (yet).
Guess I finally have a reason to kit out my chroma, thanks.
This reminds me of some mind over matter synergy from path of exile. So the enegy gived you over 5k "effective" health before armor is applied and you recover energy/health from taking damage
I think this is the best build for Chroma imho. It's like in fantasy stories where mana sustains a dragon.
The new energy arcane looks interesting, like its primed flow but as an arcane for high armor tanks
Lex Prime was called a 'hand cannon' several years ago.
Great vid! If you really wanted to remove "all" base damage mods on Xoris, you could replace Killing Blow with Melee Elementalist.
Also Falcor can edge out Xoris imo, especially with the riven dispo- plus the throw tracks enemies!
Yes, that was actually an oversight! Regardless of frame Melee Elementalist is always better than Killing Blow
Ok so i think this build is godly. Truly using nourish makes it better. Nourish is just 2 good not to play.
You can subsume Empower to either replace transient fortitude and get back a mod slot and tons of duration while keeping the same-ish strength or just boost the power strength up even more :)
Actually loled at the amount of damage lex shat out. Holy shit.
I'm doing arcane battery and energy tanking things on nidus as well, mostly to combat the stationariness of nidus and doing ye olde "crit machine" augment shenanigans lazily. Funny to see the use of the nidus spectre on your showcase for that link bonus.
I'm running a *very* bootleg version of this, and it works just the same. It's really unbelievable how tough Chroma is to kill.
Been using this build and I'm in love with it I was going to make a video on it but I cant find anything to improve or a way to make it easier to put together but man you nailed it
Glad you liked it!
I came up with a similar build, I also found this works pretty well with valkyrie. Its also very strange but it works.
I think it would be interesting to try this with Molt as your helminth as it will allow you spam an ability to build surge, as molt has no real animation and is basically instant cast. Not that such a rapid output of damage would ever be realistically required
Well built sir. Sub earned. Keep it up!
this is amazing!! ty for share
