How can any person claim to be a hip hop/rap fan and don't like the Beastie boys........wow this is the Pinnacle of both. They are the top selling hip hop band of all time
Beastie Boys have always been one of those fun, iconic groups that aren't really like anyone else. Thanks for reacting to this one! You should definitely do "So Whatcha Want" by them if you haven't heard it yet.....or even if you have heard it! Lol!
got to remember alot of these reactors today are young, like they were saying they were infants, or toddlers when bestie boys came out, but your right. cant be any kind of real hiphop fans with out atleast being able to hear a song and go ...(thats bestie boys)
They were around a long time before Rage came on the scene. He was singing with that voice way back in 1986 with their hit Fight For Your Right. It's also perfectly okay to not like every band/genre. That's what makes your channel one of the best out there. When you don't like something you are upfront with it, yet still respectful. I don't like early Beastie Boys, but I was a teen when songs like Intergalactic hit. I like that era because it has ties to my youth. Their tunes were blasting at every skate/bmx park in the nation. Those were good times with good friends. I look back fondly at the bumps, bruises, and broken bones we all took along the way constantly pushing the limits. When music can invoke a memory, that's when it means something to you.
*Beastie Boys - Three Mc's and One DJ", "Intergalactic", "Paul Revere", and "Brass Monkey". If you want some sweet ass old school Beastie hip hop.. Sabotage is not the song to be checking out. Beastie Boys were around at least a decade before RATM. They started as a punk band in the early 80’s and then transitioned to rap rock by the mid -80’s .
Even if their music isn't to your taste, it's just a fact that Hip Hop wouldn't be what it is today without BB. They helped usher it into the mainstream, and you'd be hard pressed to find a Hip Hop artist from the past two decades (or most other popular genres) that doesn't count them as an inspiration.
Beastie Boys are the $hit and deserve a deep dive! Suggestions (non-singles): Shambala / Bodhisattva Vow Get It Together Root Down Lighten Up Professor Booty Rhymin' and Stealin' The Move
Beastie Boys are the GOATs. Chuck D and LL Cool J inducted them into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. LL Cool J said he wouldn’t be where he is without them. Nobody was the star, they always took turns with their verses. Recommendations: “So What’cha Want”, “The New Style”, “Rhymin’ and Stealin’”, “Intergalactic”, and “Ch-Check It Out”.
"They were essential to our beginning, middle and today." - Chuck D "My tribute to them is just to tell them that I love them and what they did for hip-hop culture is legendary." - Rev Run Absolutely foundation.
The other thing I love about the Beasties is that they played their own instruments on these tracks live. Their 120 minutes performances are fire. Get it Together is one of my fave tracks by them as well. They’re not for everyone but it reminds me of New York so I love it.
Beastie Boys are really one of the first hybrid bands; mixing punk, hip-hop, funk, and alternative.. These dudes are legendary because they pushed the boundaries of what music can be.
beastie boys were formed in the late 70's (performed at some of the top punk venues in ny), they came before bdp, and eric b and rakim. they are the greatest hip hop band of all time, period. they were trend setters that were way ahead of their time, often imitated but never duplicated. you need to check out the entire paul's boutique album (historical hip hop album).
so glad to hear some honesty on a review when your not feeling it. much respect!!!! it all cant be the greatest thing you ever heard before................now having said that.......ARE YOU NUTS?!?!??!?!??!? :)
Beastie Boys is one of my all time favorite groups. You haven't heard the right song yet Hollywood. I was just listening to the Hello Nasty album yesterday. So many great songs but here are a few to check out: The Move Flute Loop Paul Revere Johnny Ryall Hey Ladies Just a Test There's just too many great ones to list. Can't wait for you guys to do more. Hollywood we are going to make you like Beastie Boys, you've missed out on so much. ❤️🤘
Beasties are legendary artists who transcended genres and laid down the blueprint for future bands like RATM . They played instruments, programmed beats, wrote the lyrics, directed videos and that's only scratching the surface, they did it all. So many great tracks, Root Down, Shadrach, 3 MCs, professor booty, gratitude, pass the mic, skills to pay the bills, the list is endless.
Paul Revere is my favorite Beastie Boys song. I grew up listening to them as they emerged onto the scene. It was a completely new sound and us young kids gravitated to it instantly. Very influential group!
I wish there would be more reactions to different songs by the Beastie Boys. I mean Sabotage and all that is cool, but they have such an extensive amount of music, and everyone only seems to suggest the most mainstream of them all. What about The Move, Root Down, the original version of Body Movin, The Negotiation, The New Style, 3 MC's and 1 DJ the album and video version. Professor Booty...
Beastie Boys were formed out of members of experimental hardcore punk band the Young Aborigines in 1978, with Diamond as vocalist, Jeremy Shatan on bass guitar, John Berry on guitar, and Kate Schellenbach on drums. When Shatan left in 1981, Yauch replaced him on bass and the band changed their name to Beastie Boys. Berry left shortly thereafter and was replaced by Horovitz.
To ignore them as being influential to all of hip hop is absurd . That being said no metal heads or rock fans thought of them as a rock band trying to be rappers. But we knew they played instruments and gave them more credit than the typical sample based rappers at the time, and now it’s evident that they were masters of their craft, excellent song writers both ahead of their time and pioneers and their music even this “alt-dance-club-rock” track is legit fire to this day.
If you guys don’t dig this that much, def check out the live version of this that Slipknot and Korn did in London, I was at the gig and it was absolutely mental. A lot heavier, more energy etc
The fact that Hollywood hasn't heard this song is one reason I have so much respect for the Beastie Boys. They refuse to let their music be used commercially. As a matter of fact, Sabotage is the only BB song I know of that was used in a movie (Star Trek). Intergalactic is my personal favorite BB song for 1 line. Beasties boys ROCK!!!one of the GOATs of Hip hop...I grew up with the BB...Paul Revere is my all time absolute favorite tracks by them!!!I HIGHLY recommend giving it a listen.thanks for being open minded Hollywood!!😁✌out!!

Please react to So What'cha Want. Best Beasties song ever. I'm an old school metalhead and hated these guys when Licenced To ill came out, but I eventually became a very casual fan in the late 90s. Got to see them live in 2004, and they were incredible. Smokey...maybe you'd feel differently if you'd seen them live. 🤷
Beasties are unique. They stand alone in what they did. They don’t sound or wanted to sound like the million other rap or hip hoppers that sound exactly the same!
Put your hand up if you have seen the beastie's live...🤟🤟🤟 Sorry but I had to..it's a bonus of me being old.😂 1987 original license to ill tour with LL cool j... Lucky me, getting to see one of the greatest ever...
This is one of those love hate things. Alot of their songs are that way. Some of them you can't help but jam to, others you gotta be fucked up first time u hear em lol
Trivia: the word sabotage comes from Dutch workers throwing their wooden shoes (called Sabot) into machines during the industrial revolution in an attempt to save their livelihoods
Paul Revere has such a dirty Bassline you can't not love it. No Sleep til Brooklyn and Fight for your right were both part of my teen years and still rock the Beasties when out in the UK Car scene.
The crazy thing about this song is that it's on an album with another song called "Sure Shot" and it's so hip hop. Gotta check it. The album was called ill communication.
You said " change your mind ".... Well, slipknot and Korn did a dual live at their concert this jam. Highly recommend it but wish they did the full version though, imo
You guys are on a roll with music lately! This video was on MTV like 5 times a day when MTV was more than underage pregnant teens and houses full of people who hate each other.
"Professor Booty" and "So What'cha Want" off Check Your Head, "Shake Your Rump" and "Hey Ladies" off Paul's Boutique, "Root Down" and "Get it Together (with Q-Tip)" off Ill Communication, "Body Movin'" and "intergalactic" off Hello Nasty, and "The Brouhaha" and "An Open Letter to NYC" off To The 5 Boroughs. They're definitely older school hip-hop and if that isnt your thing then you might not enjoy it as much, but they have a long and storied career and are definitely influential. The sample game on the Paul's Boutique album was so over the top they ended up moving back to playing instruments more for their samples after that. Thanks for this one!
you know after i watch this video, i went back and started listening to B BOYS songs and it was such a great blend of things. these 3 jewish white kids decided to go into a genre heavily african/ american and it worked. you can pull up videos of all kinds of old school rappers that give beastie boys props. they just had fun and put in the work. pushing boundaries
you gotta hear the Cancer Bats cover of this, just some good ole Canadian Hardcore Punk. Keep on rockin' in the free world. Devildriver - The Mountain Unearth - Endless
Yall should start a series about original vs cover. Cancer bats did a cover of this and it was pretty good. If so I have a suggestion, pumped up kicks original vs 3teeths version.
I was a freshman in college at the University of Florida when this band came out it was an awesome addition to the music I was already listening to....
I feel like Beastie Boys early stuff was really basic, but once we get to Check Yo Head and Ill Communication, their sound evolved a lot. You can still hear a bit of that old school boom bap stuff in it, but they play around with the style a lot. If you don't like it, you don't like it, but you gotta admit, in a time when hip hop was evolving and we were getting stuff like Busta Rhymes Gimme Some More and Missy Elliott's The Rain, Beastie Boys being able to keep it old school AND fresh in Hello Nasty was impressive.
edit--They were way before KRS1 and Rakim, they released their first Hip Hop track in 1983 your talking Kurtis Blow, Grandmaster Flash..., Whodini, The Sugarhill Gang, Afrika Bambaataa, and believe it or not the Oakland OG Too Short. They were the first to bring Public Enemy on tour, got LL signed and wrote the beat for his first single. They produce their own music with 1 of 2 or 3 co-producers, they can play their own instruments, they direct their own videos for the most part, the defined street fashion/skater fashion for the 90 's. I think if you really gave them a listen you would like them. They always blazed their own path never followed what others were doing.
I remember this song being played around 1999-2000 because MTV in Mexico was doing some sort of Best Songs Of The Millennium thing, or something like that. We always got things a few years after everyone else in the civilized world did, before the days of the internet XD
When this came out, I was in Chicago at a show that were Wax Trax’s bands were performing, Chem;ab, My Life with The Thrill Kill Kult, etc… Then the Beastie boys came and crashed the party,,,, The original lign up of performers was, awesome!!!!!! Then the Beastie Boys came and basically crashed the party… What a great night…
Smokey! You GOTTA show em "Beastie Boys - Rhymin' & Stealin' (Official Video)" for sure. If Hollywood can get into that vibe, I'm gonna be worried about him, lol. It's the epitome of their style and performance. They just like to party and rhyme.
Beastie Boys discovered LL Cool J. They all hung out in Rick Rubin’s dorm room where he started Def Jam records. Def Jam saved hip hop from being a novelty and brought it to new audiences with RUN DMC’s cover of Walk This Way (which also saved Aerosmith’s career).
Zack was in Hardcore bands like (Hard Stance) before Rage. He has the same exact influences as the Beasties, two major ones being BAD BRAINS and Minor Threat.
Love this track! And love some BB! Beasties are always classic. Check out some Highly Suspect and The Amity Affliction bros! And do some more Static-X, Mushroomhead, and Primus!
Im not a big fan but i know this song and its not a bad one ! Greatings and love from germany ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Sabotage is a french word that derives from workers in a print works that were faced with getting obsoleted by automation, causing them to throw their wooden shoes (sabos) into the works of the machines, the word sabotage is derived from that action
The reason why the Beastie Boys are considered influential is because, prior to them, nobody rapped on tracks that were so rock based if that makes sense. While some producers used small samples of rock music the Beastie Boys were the first group to go so deeply into rapping over rock type beats. The founder of Def Jam Rick Rubin (along with Russell Simmons)was the producer behind the idea. It was not received well by a lot of old school hip hop fans but they have a very loyal fan base.
How can any person claim to be a hip hop/rap fan and don't like the Beastie boys........wow this is the Pinnacle of both.

I hit that video most regularly

Three MC's and One DJ is a great track. I cannot imagine Hollywood would not like it.
@@markhayes637 Upvote. 3 MCs and 1 DJ is an absolute MUST........
Beastie Boys were around at least a decade before RATM. They started as a punk band in the early 80’s and then transitioned to rap rock by the mid -80’s .
Correct. But, this particular track dropped in 1994. RATM’s first album was in 1992.
surprised these guys didn't know that, considering they are rappers
Even if their music isn't to your taste, it's just a fact that Hip Hop wouldn't be what it is today without BB. Like Chuck D said..no beastie's . No public enemy..
Hollywood as a RAPPER I can't believe that you haven't listened to the BEASTIES entire DISCOGRAPHY. It's freaking AMAZING!
Beastie Boys are the $hit and deserve a deep dive! Suggestions (non-singles):
Shambala / Bodhisattva Vow
Get It Together
Root Down
Lighten Up
Professor Booty
Rhymin' and Stealin'
The Move
The entire Paul's Boutique album. Especially High Plaines Drifter.

Absolutely foundation.
That backward 808 on Paul Revere and getting LL signed should be enough to get respect from anyone who loves Hip Hop.
"Three MCs and One DJ" is always a fun video to watch... "So Watcha Want" is another one of my favorites.
Rage sounds like Beasties. Licensed To Ill is definitive.
Check Your Head is my personal fav Beastie Boys album.
Me too Check Your Head forever.
Rage (sometimes) sounds like Beasties with better musicianship but worse vocals.
The other thing I love about the Beasties is that they played their own instruments on these tracks live. Their 120 minutes performances are fire. Get it Together is one of my fave tracks by them as well. They’re not for everyone but it reminds me of New York so I love it.

They Begin like a punkskate band and goes to a hip-hop industrial experimental amazing one
You gotta react to some more beastie boys. Do “So Whatcha Want” or “Pass the Mic” next to hear their actual rap flow. Legendary trio action.
Man, the Tracks 1-13 on Check Your Head album will forever be an inspiration to me…. Pass the Mic is just an amazing focal point of that!
@@DMcElfresh101 Totally agree. Check Your Head is, IMO, their most flawless record.
These three PUNK ROCKERS INFLUENCE on HIP HOP was a game changer!

You might like something off of Paul's Boutique. Like "Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun" or "High Plains Drifter"
i've watched all your uploads, i'm a huge fan. I've never been so excited to press play on one in my life. Please do more Beastie Boys!
Paul Revere is my favorite Beastie Boys song. I grew up listening to them as they emerged onto the scene. It was a completely new sound and us young kids gravitated to it instantly. Very influential group!
The Beastie created some of the best BEATZ ever recorded. 💯🔥

I'm Buddy Rich when I fly off the handle, Buddy Rich is one of the greatest drummers ever!!

Take him to school, so many great albums/tracks by the Beasties. "Think you drinking chocolate milk but it's watered down yoo-hoo"
They were instrumentalists too. Started as a punk band and always kept one foot in that world
If you guys don’t dig this that much, def check out the live version of this that Slipknot and Korn did in London, I was at the gig and it was absolutely mental. A lot heavier, more energy etc
I came here to suggest that also. It's such a fun cover.
I was there too, epic night!
They actually have reacted to that, so Hollywood has heard this song before.
Anyone that can put "I'll stir-fry you in my wok" in a song & make it work is a genius in my book. 🤣🤣

Note to Hip-Hop aficionado Hollywood 6ix: King Ad-Rock is still very much alive. It’s MCA who passed on.

Beastie Boys got badass bars!

This song blew up like crazy when it came out. When they did the first Lollapolooza they draged that first pause out for a few minutes and the crowd went freaking nuts.
My homies dad calls Rage, angry Beastie Boys.
Beastie Boys always make me smile. They are just one of those fun groups.
Beasties VIDEOS are TOP SHELF!
Breath of fresh air...a reaction vid where the reaction is genuinely honest and unfiltered.
I think this song and especially the vid is outstanding...paying homage to '70s TV cop shows.
No need to 'make you a Beastie Boys 'fan'"... we all have different tastes...obviously!!
You guys should do Intergalactic, it's borderline techno music. And I love it so much
Fight for your Right, 3 MCs 1DJ, Brass Monkey, Sure Shot, Root Down...
Mix Master Mike described his beats as communication with alien life
Great reaction guys, your mood is amazing today!
Please react to So What'cha Want. Best Beasties song ever.

Beastie Boys music is all about hanging out with your crew. It's a vibe. I'm with my guy on this, this is the soundtrack of my childhood
I'm not a big fan of BB either but I like Sabotage. Intergalactic would be a good one to check out next.
Both good songs
Intergalactic is a favorite of mine! Such a fun dope song. The video too!

RIP MCA. so missed!! Thx for this video guys! These guys were so original and loved what they did.
Ill Communication was a good BB album for me, because it was not so hip-hop, mostly rock with cool instrumentals, and they had their own sound too.
Ahh the sound off my youth lol , loved Beastie Boys ! U should check out Run Dmc " Its Tricky " !

This IS Hip Hop. Period. Play Paul's Boutique, Check Yo Head, and Ill Communication. UNTOUCHABLE
Oh hell ya! Love the beastie boys! This will be good!!!
The Beastie Boys created a hit with one chord and a two note solo, and it still holds up 25 years later, IMO.
Watch live at Glasgow beastie boys are legends.
Smokey! You GOTTA show em "Beastie Boys - Rhymin' & Stealin' (Official Video)" for sure. If Hollywood can get into that vibe, I'm gonna be worried about him, lol. It's the epitome of their style and performance. They just like to party and rhyme.
You guys gotta react to Hold It Now, Hit It by Beastie Boys.
More Beastie boys ❤️🔥🤤
Can't wait 20 years from now still watching haha
Beastie Boys released music before KRS One, and their first album was the first rap album to get to number 1 in the charts!

These guys recorded some of the best Hip Hop ever and this.
Man....Beastie Boys were just iconic back in the day. Ill Communication was just next level IMO. My favorite track has got to be "Get it Together".
