This was a song everyone effed with back in the day. It doesn't matter what you listen to or what clique you were in. This song hits, and everyone loses their minds.
heh, yeah, similar to bodycount, away from the parents, someones copy of a copy of copkiller goes in the tape deck, even in the deepest darkest crotch of nova scotia, where i'm from.
@@felderupRight. Glad to have both the OG tape and CD with correct album art before they pulled it. As far as I know,Too Short and Ice T (2 diff genres at the time) were the only ones performing with live bands.
Jump Around feels like one of those songs that has always existed in human consciousness. Like there wasn't a time in history where Jump Around didn't exist, somehow. It's one of those elemental things.
Be careful bro. That flag is likely to trigger the Irish withing the comments. They've claimed rights to this anthem, because these house of pain lads have "Irish ancestry".
Everlast, the 'singer' for House of Pain was a part of Ice-T's 'Syndicate' for years prior to this, and of course had solo success with 'Ends' and 'What it's like' afterward.
One of the songs that gets overplayed so much that it's hard to step back and actually examine it for what it is. Party song but the shit is hard as fuck. Cadence and phrasing in the flow is crazy as shit.
This was my second concert. Got my cassette tape sleeve autographed by the members of House of pain . Oh and rage against the machine opened up the show. Great times
Love this because I’m not just Native but I’m part Irish too , and grew up poor in the ghetto like a lot of Irish, the Irish were the OG gangstas in the US
Everlast originally from Long Island and moved Cali during high school I believe. He went to the same high school as Ice Cube, and befriended Divine Styler. Ice-T signed him at 17. There’s a great interview with him on Sway celebrating 30 year anniversary of Jump Around. Definitely worth a watch
I remember jamming this song back in the day. My sister told me by this group. She was the one who turned me into all the good music that I've liked over the last 25 years.
The 90s were dope…being young then had a feeling to it like walking around with this track or Cyprus or Beastie Boys on your headphones. Not so many distractions as today.
The other member of House of Pain was Danny Boy. He didn’t have any lines on this song but he may be on the chorus. He was on other songs though. Now he is known for restoring the house from the movie The Outsiders. It’s like a museum now. I had the Shamrocks and Shenanigans single back in the day, and it had some great remixes. The Butch Vig grunge remix was fantastic. You should do that over the original version, and they did put out a video for that remix.
House of Pain was Everlast, Danny Boy O'Conner, and DJ Lethal (who was also in Limp Bizkit). Their second album was soooo good. "Back From The Dead", "On Point", "Who's The Man?" were all amazing songs off that second album. As a matter of fact, there was a movie around 1993 (i think it was one MTV's first movies they made, a few years before "joe's apartment") called "who's the man" and their song was in the intro credits. the movie had every big rapper during that period - house of pain (of course), naughty by nature, salt and peppa, heavy d, ice t, krs-one, fab five freddy, kris kross, busta rhymes, shock g (better known as humpty). look it up, watch it, it's not a good movie, but it is fun.
Everlast (the lead rapper) has a massive catalog and is severely underrated as a rapper, musician, songwriter and all around coo cat... You should DEFINATLY dig deeper.
The high pitched sound is apparently part of Prince’s scream from the beginning of his hit ‘Gett Off’. The band claims otherwise. But that could be because they wanted to avoid paying Prince royalties.
