Well considering Lucas was born in 2008, he grew up in the 2010s where Green Day wasn’t as well known as it was in the 90s and early/mid 2000s. I think part of the problem is that music tends to be generational. Every generation believes their music was the best, and when that generation grows up their nostalgia for their music makes it difficult to understand why the younger generations don't know it, or love it, or sometimes don't even like it. When we become adults we often forget what it's like to be a teenager and we begin to behave like our parents and grandparents did to us - "You don't know Frank Sinatra?? My children are under the age of 25, and they listen to music from the 50's to the present. Not just one type! They understand that music can create emotions and memories. Just like my parents did for me. So yes, I'm bothered that Gen Z doesn't know past music or part of pop culture that shaped the world today.
One thing I noticed on these videos is something that my 15-year-old son says all the time, about how things look. You know this is music and they seem to care equally about the production value and editing and how it looks. Find this interesting because the music videos were cool but it was about the music, not the video. Today's kids are so visual that they have made music a more visual medium than auditory.
Nah, music videos were huge back then too. Maybe more so, since MTV was still massive. Michael Jackson dropping Thriller was a huge deal. Smells Like Teen Spirit's iconic cheerleaders in the hell-dark gym. The lavishness of the Moulin Rouge soundtrack. Guns n' Roses epic wedding/funeral theme for November Rain. It's just that production looks old to these Gen Z eyes because they aren't in HD, and they also don't seem to get the aesthetic comedy - the four Alanis' in the car being OTT, the garish look of The Offspring video, etc. They think that's what being cool looked like in the 90s, that everyone is being sincere when half of these are satirical - deliberately exaggerated, deliberately being cringe and taking the piss out of certain things.
@@droidgeist production. The quality. There were a lot more low quality vids than high production value vids in the 80s. Michael Jackson was the exception not the norm
@@drunvert I mentioned other songs beyond Thriller. Yeah, the production is better, but definitely disagree about quality. There's plenty of big movies that are lower quality than indie movies. The same goes for music videos from the 90s. The budgets may have been smaller but the creativity was greater.
Okay....I'm choosing to do just one rant.... PLEASE tell me that someone explained to them what Zombie is actually about? That it's not just screaming ZOMBIE in the air... Maybe that will change their tune. Okay, I'm done now. Thanks!

In your head, in your head, they're still fighting
With their tanks and their bombs
And their bombs and their guns
In your head, in your head, they are dying"
Shivers.
I can't stand that song 😂
@@kendramutters2048 everyone has different tastes 😊 that song is also particularly personal to myself and family history
Wow that know the struggles over there would understand this song.
I blame the parents. They should be ashamed. Except for Jaxson’s parents.
"Don't be bothered, they're just kids. Why would they know 30 year old music? Don't be bothered, they're just kids. Why would they know 30 year old music?" - Me controlling my blood pressure
Why would they not know music from 30y ago? I lissened to whatever my parent used to lissen to... Elvis the Beatles etc...history of music is the best!😊
@@evahugogard2755 I know, friend. I'm just trying to learn to contain my old man rage lol
I listen to stuff that came out when my father could barely speak (early 50s), so while these situations do make sense to me, they still weird me out
It’s really nuts to think that 90s music to them is like 60s music was to me growing up. Oh Lord. Getting so old.
My children are under the age of 25, and they listen to music from the 50's to the present. Not just one type! They understand that music can create emotions and memories. Just like my parents did for me. So yes, I'm bothered that Gen Z doesn't know past music or part of pop culture that shaped the world today.
Poor Jaxon, I was feeling him so hard when Lucas was saying he didn't know Green Day 😢
That one kid literally hates everything, he brings down every dang reaction he’s in.
black/green guy seems like a music lover for real
Guy in green and black can sing. Props
Jaxons parents did a great job educating him on music.
this was a pain to watch. I feel like kids these days don't take music for what it is anymore, which is art.
THANK YOU SO MUCH JOE FOR PUTTING FAITH NO MORE - EPIC ON THE LIST😊
The vibe I get from the girl in the hoody is that she thinks she's being cool by trashing the 90s songs.
This just proves that there is a difference between older generation and younger genz because after 2005 those kids are completely different
One thing I noticed on these videos is something that my 15-year-old son says all the time, about how things look. You know this is music and they seem to care equally about the production value and editing and how it looks. Find this interesting because the music videos were cool but it was about the music, not the video. Today's kids are so visual that they have made music a more visual medium than auditory.
interesting observation
Thanks!
..."Do you know 1990's Rap Group - 3 White Guys - BEATLES!" xDDD
For part two, y'all should hit them with Eiffel 65, Haddaway, Blind Melon, Pearl Jam, and Candlebox.
This sounds like the soundtrack to my 90s (except for the last one)
as a gen z kid who knows and loves all these songs and artists this is just embarrassing 😭😭
Dud.....did that girl just said 'you need to listent to like...cardi b'? Really? What?
One of these kids is shitting on a renowned music video Director whose made tens of millions of dollars with their talent by saying she needs advice. It’s a microcosm of their whole genre overly opinionated with no experience to back it up.
The kid in green & black is the only one I’m not 100% disappointed in.
Absolutely. Grey sweater kid is second best.
At this point I'm convinced the videos are intended to hate-watch these kids.
4:32 “eMiNeM!!??”
Welp that’s it, I’m officially gonna go drink fifth of vodka and dare myself to drive
9:30 kind of wish they explained the meaning of this song so that girl could be put in her place
She looks like she dont pay attention at all. Still negative. What about swap her? Oh Sorry, we can not, right…
The fact that the singer of the offspring has 2 masters degrees and a PhD in molecular biology is crazy when you see their music videos. Cause the videos are all just insane. Then you remember one of the most educated men on the planet and is involved in HIV research and is in this band. He solves advanced math and biological formulas in his free time when he's not writing lyrics
"it's ok you need to listen to cardi b" is like the saddest thing I've heard all year 2023 im about to cry 😢😢😢😢😢
"Oh that's a good guess!"
"NO IT'S NOT!"
Beatles! Beethoven! Boys 2 Men! Jesus christ...
Boys 2 men was the best guess they made, and they're not even white 🤣
Lol 😂😂😂
