- I took the efficiency numbers we got on the NE DIPA maiden voyage of our Brewzilla 65L all in one system from Kegland and applied those numbers to a West Coast DIPA to find out a few things:
1. What's the impact flaked adjuncts have on efficiency?
2. Is that the reason why we got such poor efficiency on the first beer we brewed in the new, bigger system?
I answer those questions and move through our brew day process testing out the new rig in this weeks video.

Thanks for sharing. Having fun dialing in the BZ here too..
You know it buddy!!
lol, 16:30.. sorry for interrupting boss. Good stuff and a successful brew day either way. We alway work to hone in on the process on our equipment.
So true man. I had other footage I would've kept in of me talking to you but it was too niche. Nobody would've understood haha. Cheers brother. - Nick
Stir your mash 30 min into mashing. I do 11 gal batches and am hitting 70-73% every time. I agree that doing bigger beers equals lower efficiency with these systems. I hope this helps.
Thanks for sharing your brew day. Cheers!
Thanks so much Easan! - Nick
Get yourself a rapt Bluetooth thermometer and control the temp from the top, that will help and speed up brew day
Thanks for the video . I'm eagerly saving for the gen4 65L, about 2 months away. Having trawled through UA-cam, you guy guys seem to have the only recent footage. Always hanging for new content 🍻🍻
That's awesome, thank you so much for watching! Also don't hesitate to reach out with questions. The unit itself is well worth it.
Did you end up getting it?
Yeah sure did, a dozen single batches in 2 months & loving it! After the first batch, blocked tap, I diverted the centre drain from the pump direct to tap and no issues since. So far the credit card thickness on the mill works great. Excellent flow during mash and sparge, using hulls for wheat and oats styles but not sure I really need to.. The bluetooth thermometer for the last 4 batches has been OK, tend to overshoot mash steps by 2-4°c sometimes (no PID) but dialling that in slowly by turning the heat % down or off a few degrees shy of desired temp. Overall, a great system eh. 🍻
I think the Bluetooth thermometer is really essential on this system. It was my main reason for upgrading from the 3.1.1.
I agree with you!
Might I suggest lifting the basket a couple of times during mash. That will at least equal out the Temps through the mash. I know it helps my efficiency.
Interesting, thanks for the tip!!!
Interesting video -I have a brewzilla65 gen 4 and am currently getting 80% efficiency on 45lt final vol batch-5% abv. I had a huge efficiency jump when started using the kegland mash stirrer that goes on end drill for mash in & also use PID settings & reduce power to 50% on mash for more consistent temp. My mill size is about 1mm. PH -5.3 mash. Will be interested to see your tweaks.
Thanks for the input! I have some updates, just need to edit the video haha. Cheers!!
Any time you are mashing in a tall small diameter brewing vessel there will be challenges in attaining temperature consistency between the top of the mash pipe and the bottom. Kegland somewhat addresses this issue in the video on their UA-cam channel titled " Achieve More Repeatability Using, PID, RAPT BLE Temp Probe and Heat Exchanger Dish " Hope this helps.
Hey mate! Where did you buy that little mash recirculating nossle that you have on the end of the hose? Looks neat!
Sorry buddy just seeing this now! It's a siphon spray wort aerator. I'm going to make a video on it, enough people have been asking! Here's the purchase link. www.morebeer.com/products/siphon-spray-wort-aerator.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwgsqoBhBNEiwAwe5w0zW55vQ47WVx6N1IExXNc6_U9aV8AQvereIiaLMeIUnjuLnbGAcZPBoCBAcQAvD_BwE
Do you mind sharing where to find the table the Brewzilla stands?.
Thank for sharing your content cheers!
It's a pneumatic pump table!
@@exit12homebrew nice thank you.
Hi. How to score a recipe in the Rapt program?
What do you mean score it?
@@exit12homebrew How to make a recipe ?
Rapt doesn't allow you to make a recipe as far as I know. It helps schedule the brew day.
First thanks for uploading, there are not a lot of people using this system yet. Its not my intention to give a lecture but would like to share whats in my mind to help. Having 14 batches on my Brewzilla gen4, i would believe you are right. It may be the grain crush. I also like to use ricehulls which may come from finer crush. Maybe also mash ph. I did actually learn a lot from watching @homebrewnetwork would recommend.
Thank you! I love Gavin, his content is second to none!!
