Ich finde es so toll das ihr so viel Liebe in das Spiel steckt. Ich muss immer grinsen wenn ich die deutschen Namen in euren Footage sehe. Auch bei dem Gameplay in Lardcore sehe ich mein altes "ich" wie es vor der PS1 sitzt und sich über die Sprüche amüsiert. Es ist einfach Klasse zu sehen wie viel Liebe und Herz Ihr in dieses Meisterwerk steckt.

I'm glad to hear that you're keeping PC players in mind! I didn't doubt you'd be focusing on the PS5 release first, it's always better to prioritise one version being completed before moving on to another platform. I genuinely hope Lardcore does well, both critically and financially, as this is a game I have so many memories of playing on the PS1 as a child. Thank you guys for remaking this hidden gem, and for being transparent and communicative with its development!

I'm really looking forward to it. Becoming more and more excited. It will be great to see when Frontschweine becomes my 100th platinum trophy. Ps: Maybe it's complaining at a high level (German proverb), but for me the rockets from the heavy weapons still move too quickly in the air after being fired, as do the cluster grenades from the mortar and the airburst and, based on the previous videos, also the hand grenades . It would be great if it was like the original, that the rocket/grenade has a certain optical weight and so it "stays in the air longer". Hope you know what I mean, I just had it translated by Google. I get where you're coming from but Owen mentioned in the previous video, that it feels like the game is moving faster, hence why the projectiles feel less weighty than in the original because of the framerate which is of course improved now. Then again Owen said the team is working on getting especially the feel of the original game spot on for this remake and I think we can trust them on that. Like you said they are doing amazing work!

Great video, the projectiles are looking much better. The mention of challenges is interesting - perhaps the expanded content could include a specific Challenge Mode? A special set of maps with unique challenges that test different skills - use a Sniper to earn 5 headshots, blow up as many buildings in a time limit, or simply survive as long as possible while reinforcements charge in. And indeed, there is the possibility of a Horde Mode-style game where reinforcements are dropped in. Looking forward to it!
Some nice ideas there! As we're looking at releasing on PlayStation to begin with - you can expect to see achievements that will bring that sort of challenge (which will then hopefully be expanded into future ports!)
@@hogsofwarlardcore Oh yes! Much hilarity as one mistake inevitably followed another, and whoever eventually won was more through luck than judgement. I don’t know if this has ever been considered/suggested, but as a way of fundraising, how difficult would it be to release HoW as it was, just as the couch co-op game we all originally fell in love with? I’m sure many would buy this and it would raise funds for the Lardcore project

Firstly, just want to say I am so excited for this!! I'm literally replaying this Game currently (and did a review on it on my channel) and its so strange this super old Game I'm playing is currently being worked on once again. Nice to know I'm not the only one who replays old Games and would happily support a more modern version. Below I think I'll put together a wish list of things I would love to see in the Game. No pressure of course, but a Hog can Dream and simply getting this game at all one day is amazing in of itself 🙂 1) I'm a sucker for Depth Of Field in Games. No idea if in practice this gets in the way of vision during gameplay or if it's only activated once an attack plays out. So for example, while aiming with a weapon and initiating the action, everything is normal - PIG says funny line and action is played out. Maybe during that 2nd part is when DOF occurs? 2) Hogs Of War always had a lot of personality. I'm wondering if additional customisation options would push that further? In Worms for example, having the ability to choose what Grave appears after death was a nice personal touch. Pallet swapping for colour comes to mind as well. 3) Water is featured heavily in the original Game and of course is making it's comeback. I wish you luck in making it as visually appealing as possible. The water in Yooka Laylee, I feel strikes a nice balance between old and new. Very clean, with some light reflection and distortion effect when looking through. I hope it's nice and blue haha instead of looking muggy / dirty. 4) Okay, some real feedback on the original Game. I loved that upgrading each class gave them their own special weapons. Like getting the SUPER Shotgun opened up the way for heaps of fun and creativity. What I did find disappointing, was once you passed a certain level - all the classes became the same. The initial originality gets pushed aside. 5) I'm sure your already doing it and likely have mentioned in a previous video I have not seen yet but I do want to say the use of music in HOW was done really well. I love that at the start of each turn, depending on the country we got colourful music that matched it for a bit and after, the actual map music would play ^__^ 6) Do you think Liquid physics is a fun idea? So maybe we have a grenade like item called "TOXIC" or "LAVA" that is thrown and when it explodes, a Liquid like substance cover the immediate area? Naturally damaging any HOGS caught in it but also contaminating the ground, forcing players to avoid or take some damage if they need to pass. Apologies for the massive comment and random wish list, when your busy working on the Game and I'm like MORE hahaha Looking forward to promoting this Game on my channel once it's done!
EDIT: Reworded based on response given by one of the devs. Based on previous videos and what I know from discussions with Pinstripe and other people in the community, I can give you an educated answer regarding their response for some of your feedback. Keep in mind, I'm not on the dev team, so if any of them see this and end up proving me wrong... well, speaks for itself. 2) Customization is planned for the game so far as I know. To the extent you suggested? Probably not - at least at launch. It might be something they plan on adding in the future, based on feedback from the community. 4) This feels more like a 'user error' case, as there is nothing preventing you from *not* upgrading your Level 3 unit into a Commando... That being said, having an alternative option to go for a Level 4 that has extra HP and more of their classes specific weapons could be an alternative idea they could experiment with. For now, it'll probably be the same as the original game. Perhaps at a later time they'll see to changing this. 6) This would need to go through a lot of R&D and beta-testing to see if it could work. So at this point in time, it'll probably be a 'No' unless someone figures something out. That being said, one thing that has been somewhat-joked about in the community as an idea is the ability to poison patches of water with poison based weapons like the Poison Gas and Gas Shell. This could in theory form a basis for your idea if it ever gets expanded upon.

Hogs of War was a favourite childhood game of mine, I only found out about this project today and wish you luck with this and look forward to playing it one day. Very happy to that you are keeping the original voice work by Rik Mayall. My question is on Linux compatability, I assume no technologies will be used (kernel anti cheat type things) that would prevent it running on Linux through Proton? I know if you aren't building for Linux you can't say it will work for sure.
As our focus right now is primarily on PlayStation hardware - HQ can't comment on Linux compatibility. In future we intend to look at other ports, but until then we must push forward my dear hog!
Don't forget the majority of what you see in our gameplay is not finalised, pig models especially are getting a significant makeover behind the scenes, we'll share the new designs and such in a future video! :)
Updates to our pig models are taking place behind the scenes don't you worry, once they're done cooking in the oven we'll be sure to show you all in a future video! :)
Good question! Our pig model update is a little behind schedule currently, but within it you can expect unique class models for every rank! The colour palette differs from class to class, but we still intend to maintain the original primary and secondary colours of each team, especially for higher ranking pigs! :)
Ah my dear soldier, I'm afraid Russian wasn't originally apart of the official release back in the day, so its not a language on our list currently. If that changes in future we'll be sure to let you all know!
It looks good, I recognized the under siege mission that looked good, but I don't think I saw a big mine field, are you still finding it hard to get mine fields right? Also was that an original level where you were shooting rockets over the hill or is that something new?
The minefield is indeed there (check the minimap!) but across the board they need better highlighting as currently they are difficult to spot! Its an original level, only available for 2 player - Dam Busters! :)
From what I've heard there working on ps4/5 first then potentially a pc port if all goes well, better to work on one port at a time than pc and console combined.

This might sound as really dumb question, but how Campaign would work, if Suini Bellici (Italian Team) would be added to the game? Because, I know in original 5 other teams are going against you through out story. Really sorry for stupid question. Either way, I hope Hogs of War Lardcore will receive a bright future.
Good question there soldier! The campaign itself would work just as it did in the original game, but with any new teams squeezed in! You'd be able to unlock and select whichever team when you start a new campaign, again with those new teams added to the roster the enemy use within each mission! We've been using the community's input for Suini Bellici, given how in the original they didn't exist in any of the other language releases! As in a new game difficulty? Intelligence HQ has some top secret files regarding such a mode, however loose lips sinks ships soldier! (more details on that coming in a future video!)
Given the workload we need to finish what we started on PlayStation, once thats done we will certainly be considering other ports, keep that chin up soldier!
Are any of the models finalised? The weapon crates look great but the pigs themselves still look too 'cutesy' compared to the PS1 models I think The original game's pigs looked just right for the overall art style and setting/theme and the janky low pol mixed with low res was so iconic. I think the current pig models look almost too clean, they need to look, well, more shit lmao
I always said they looked too cartoon like, and also lacked the "snout" the pigs had in the original, I have been told in the past the models are still being worked so.
Nope! Pig models are getting a major makeover behind the scenes, each receiving their own unique class model, colour palette and details, the likes of which we hope to show you in a future video! (once they are done cooking in the oven!)
Kickstarter might go well, but have you considered crypto donations? There people out there literally spending thousands on pointless memes, if they realise they're buying a game and it's something legit they'll literally throw money at it. There's alot of greed out there, you could potentially solve your financial woes in a very short time span allowing for more development. It's an idea from an observation.
Hey people. This "small team" is not going to release anything anytime soon. I'm a game developer and this has been done for a long time. They are simply worried about maximizing profits not the game. Use the pandemic for example. They weren't sure if it would sell so they held out. Reality is they are kicking themselves now for not releasing then. Fact is this game is for fans of the original. This will only sell to new gamers if it's good. They are sitting on a garbage game hence why they are trying to scam people. I'm about to just create the game myself and call it greedy pigs from hell. Won't have all the pay to play options but a guarantee it will be better than these scammers game.

One question: Does every pig actually wear the same outfit, just in a different color? Battle boars, heroes or medics have different outfits.
Good question! Our pig model update is a little behind schedule currently, but within it you can expect unique class models for every rank! The colour palette differs from class to class, but we still intend to maintain the original primary and secondary colours of each team, especially for higher ranking pigs! :)

Ah my dear soldier, I'm afraid Russian wasn't originally apart of the official release back in the day, so its not a language on our list currently. If that changes in future we'll be sure to let you all know!

It looks good, I recognized the under siege mission that looked good, but I don't think I saw a big mine field, are you still finding it hard to get mine fields right? Also was that an original level where you were shooting rockets over the hill or is that something new?

The minefield is indeed there (check the minimap!) but across the board they need better highlighting as currently they are difficult to spot! Its an original level, only available for 2 player - Dam Busters! :)
The lack of a pc port is just upsetting...
From what I've heard there working on ps4/5 first then potentially a pc port if all goes well, better to work on one port at a time than pc and console combined.

This might sound as really dumb question, but how Campaign would work, if Suini Bellici (Italian Team) would be added to the game? Because, I know in original 5 other teams are going against you through out story. Really sorry for stupid question. Either way, I hope Hogs of War Lardcore will receive a bright future.
Good question there soldier! The campaign itself would work just as it did in the original game, but with any new teams squeezed in! You'd be able to unlock and select whichever team when you start a new campaign, again with those new teams added to the roster the enemy use within each mission!

Our framework has all been done on PlayStation, so for now thats the primary focus, once done we'll consider other ports! :)

As in a new game difficulty? Intelligence HQ has some top secret files regarding such a mode, however loose lips sinks ships soldier! (more details on that coming in a future video!)

At first yes, till they are ready to do versions for other platforms.
They are doing this remaster with a PS dev kit which is why it’s PS first
Given the workload we need to finish what we started on PlayStation, once thats done we will certainly be considering other ports, keep that chin up soldier!

Are any of the models finalised? The weapon crates look great but the pigs themselves still look too 'cutesy' compared to the PS1 models I think
The original game's pigs looked just right for the overall art style and setting/theme and the janky low pol mixed with low res was so iconic.
I think the current pig models look almost too clean, they need to look, well, more shit lmao
I always said they looked too cartoon like, and also lacked the "snout" the pigs had in the original, I have been told in the past the models are still being worked so.

There people out there literally spending thousands on pointless memes, if they realise they're buying a game and it's something legit they'll literally throw money at it.
There's alot of greed out there, you could potentially solve your financial woes in a very short time span allowing for more development.
It's an idea from an observation.

Hey people. This "small team" is not going to release anything anytime soon. I'm a game developer and this has been done for a long time. They are simply worried about maximizing profits not the game.
Use the pandemic for example. They weren't sure if it would sell so they held out. Reality is they are kicking themselves now for not releasing then. Fact is this game is for fans of the original. This will only sell to new gamers if it's good. They are sitting on a garbage game hence why they are trying to scam people.
I'm about to just create the game myself and call it greedy pigs from hell.
Won't have all the pay to play options but a guarantee it will be better than these scammers game.
