Len's Island Game Description:
Build, fight, farm and explore. Experience your own path. Whether it's building the home of your dreams, tending to your crops and watching the sun go down; or explore the mysteries of the Island and the darkness underneath, but you may want to take a sword with you.

Years ago, We all knew that this thing would blow up if you just kept going.
Kudos man - Well deserved!
Did it blow up tho? I really like the game and it should get a lot more recognition but... 50 avg players 2.9k reviews.. let's say only 5% of players write a review that's still "only" 58k sales and the game is in early access for quite a while now. Very long early access periods just scare people... so.. the game will maybe.. with a lot of luck.. explode on release.
@@Sakrosankt-BierstubeWell I meant more in terms of how much traction most youtube devs/vloggers gain over time.
I don't know and don't care about the exact numbers, but if the man opened a studio, there should be an audience to depart from.
Making money as a studio VS a solo dev with taxes and social security contribution are very different endeavours.
@@Sakrosankt-Bierstube ur right. I mean compared to some other games like Thronefall which was made in 9 months and got almost 8 times the success or lethal company which got like 100 times the success so yeah
@@Sakrosankt-Bierstube It would be interesting to figure how many hours were spent building it and compare that to corporate dev work! Probably doesn't make financial sense. But he may have got nearly $1mil USD for 58k sales, which is around an extra $150k yearly for 6 years. Then there's tax which could hit hard depending upon how he set it up. I imagine he's in a good enough spot now that he can focus on game dev if he likes and not work the day job, which is all most people are hoping for. All in all it looks like a big success for 1-2 devs. I'd also say it depends on total hours spent, as self reporting of hours on top of fulltime employment is unreliable.
@@chadwilliams4373 Yeah, no. At least 2/3 of the money are gone, thanks to taxes and other stuff. He would most certainly made more money if he just worked as developer at a studio BUT... he also wouldn't have his own game, so i'd say this is a W
I wish your game turns into a massive success
i have the game since the steam launch and like the journey so far and am looking forward to the future. I wish you all the best
I cannot get over how beautiful the game art is, not to mention the game itself!! So proud of you bro :)
Someone said "why its not free?" 💀
💀
💀
Yeah why?
Just do it for fun not for money
@@CrackedMBwould you dedicate 6 years of your life to fun?💀
@@kiko4217 im trollin but since its a reply nobody saw but you
NGL, I saw the thumbnail and thought to myself "oh no, not another one of these guys making their dream game videos". Decided to look into the game and after watching the video and putting in 100 hours I can say I ate my words. BRING CO-OP FASTERRRRR!!!
This is amazing. 6 years is a really really long time, it must feel like a lifetime. I can see that you put your seat and tears into this game and I can say that it really looks amazing. Congratulations and keep working on this project. I can imagine that in another 6 years it will get on a whole new level :)
It's a fun game. One thing I enjoy in this kind of game is the exploring and oh boy does this scratch that itch. I'd like a bigger world to explore but it does the job. I hope for some DLC with new zones to explore ;)
I remember when i saw your work in 2020. Thats crazy what you did with this project. I admire you for your tenacity, determination and skills. I wish you all the best and may the project bring you only satisfaction
This is THE MOST inspiring video i've seen. I'm so sad i've not found this channel earlier. Good luck! Wish to be like you one day :)
The last time I had a real video game experience was when I played Elden Ring upon its release. By real gaming experience I mean that I felt transported to an entirely new living and breathing world that where my actions had meaningful impacts. Ever since, games have let me down over and over.
I picked up Len’s Island a month or so ago, and I can definitely say that I have once again been gifted with a real gaming experience. Playing the game feels like returning to a second home. Here’s a little anecdote about how immersed in this world I feel:
There are food recipes in the game for you to borrow from various ingredients to make a special dish with powerful effects. Two of those dishes contain mushrooms as an ingredient. I’m allergic to mushrooms in real life. Due to this fact, I chose not to eat mushrooms during my first play-through out of instinct. I didn’t intentionally do it. I just thought, “I’m allergic to mushrooms so I’ll pass.” It took a few days for me to realize how absurd that was, given that my character is a collection of pixels that isn’t confined by my physiological needs. I was so immersed in the game that I made a decision based on something from my real life without a second thought
Genuinely, this game resonates with me. You have nailed the atmosphere and your skills as an artist really shines through. So happy to have bought it although I did not know you had a devlog. I happened to come across it on Steam and do not regret the purchase one minute.
This is so inspiring! Congrats on all of your hard work.
This is such a delectable, fun, amazing game, and I always recommend it to people. I am going for a full playthrough (which will be my third), when it hits version 1.0
Have been following Len's Island's development logs for 3-4 years now, and it is extremely inspiring to see hard work and perseverance pay off. All the very best to you and your studio. On to even better things. :)
That was insane! The one thing i noticed is if you have two identical bosses and they both need health bars, please colour them slightly different and make that colour match the boss design that way players can easily tell which of the bosses has less hp. Super easy but super convenient ❤
Love these stories and awesome that your actual university lecturer joined you on your game!
What an amazing journey seeing all of it come together and how much momentum was built up over the years!
you are an inspiration for me from the start, i was there on your first video, when u were prototyping with little ghost things, seeing the progress now it looks insane now, great work. Keep inspiring people like me, Thanks 🤠
Thanks for making an enjoyable game experience! It has made a pretty decent first bit of content for my fledgling UA-cam channel. I look forward to seeing what content gets added next!
graphics and animations looks promising great job man its looking so good i think its going to be the next big thing in the genre
Thanks Julian and Flowstudio on your awsome work with Lens island, the potential with this game is so enormous, its a mesmerizing world you created that my self fell in love with kinda fast.
All the love to Flowstudio crew!
Thank you guys for making a great game. I’ve been playing every night with a few beers and just chilling and playing your game!
As a fellow developer (even though I'm a web dev) I congratulate you, what a joy it should be!
This is so cooool, congratulations dude!!!!
lol i was working at a small studio in 2018 when i first heard of this project. awesome that its out. This is what persevernce looks like. Way to commit, i can only imagine how much growth you have experienced in that time. Are you taking a break or do you have another project in mind? This one seemed like a labour of love the next you might get the benefits of a team.
Hello.
I'm a game developer hoping if you might need a hand. If yes, can we discuss on discord?
What a journey and what a game! ❤ great job
I saw your devlog a few years ago, probably around 2019. I wasn't subscribed so I lost track of your channel, and I'm so happy it just popped up on my feed again, 5 years later. Len's Island looks beautiful; it hasn't lost a single drop of its magic.
Congrats!
Bravo! Neat to see others making their dreams a reality in the game dev space, especially with so much turmoil in our industry right now. Game is wonderful so far!
Really happy for the progress of the game! Congratulations and we're looking forward too seeing more updates. Keep the passion burning, everyone! See you in the island soon!
I love to see that in the field of survival there are such people, people who are passionate about what they do, that is, they do the game with all their love. Haven't played yet but bought the game, thanks for the great work. I want to wish you success.
Just saw this post come up and wanted to say congratulations, and thanks for sharing your journey. I hope this is an inspiration for budding Aussie game devs. 🎉
Len's Island was a great experience to play and also to follow - much deserved success.
It's amazing how far your journey has gone! I remember the time back in July 2019 but how your dream has evolved is sick! Hope you have a glorious game dev future!
You are inspiring!
Wow 😮 Congrats 🎉 :)
The game art is absolutely stunning 🌟 I really wonder how I haven't heard of the game before, it looks amazing 🎉
Congrats! You've made your dream game and earn another subscriber.🎉
Great story! It really is amazing the evolution of a game product over the course of years. Happy for you and your new team!
I've played the version you've had like a year ago and it was already a fun, full fledged game. Well done!
this game looks so polished!
Wow - I was so excited for this game when it first came out and I played it right away. It was unfinished and there wasn't a ton to do so after about 4 hours of game play I felt like I did most everything there was to do and put it down. Watching this video has shown me that there has been a TON of content added and I'm excited to play this once agian! Super cool!
Congratulations and thank you! I loved the way you could see the game grow from a simple concept to what you've currently made. Watching this is like seeing my own dreams come true. I have always wanted to build a game but don't have any programming knowledge or artistic talent so thanks for showing me what the process was like. It was truly beautiful.
This is very inspiring :D keep it up and congrats to releasing and having fun adding more to the game 😊🌲
I'm an indie dev myself. I just started working on my very first game 2 months ago. I'm very curious when you had other people come on to the project, were you paying them out-of-pocket or did you find people that were passionate about the project and willing to come on board and work on it with you? I'm very curious how that works. Cause I would love to get help on my game, and work with others, But I can't just afford to pay salaries, indefinitely, not knowing If the game will take 2 years to release or 5 years, I appreciate any insight you can offer!
I imagine the unpaid route. He probably had enough of the core game done (and it looked good!) so it was a lot easier to get passionate people on board. If he tried to recruit unpaid people from day 1, I doubt it would work unless they were close friends and even then you gotta be really committed to stay the course.
Truly inspiring dude ! Well done and congrats !
amazing video mate, its great to see so much passion in the industry and I can't wait to see what you do next
this project really need a full development team.
This is TRULY epic!! GREAT JOB! Looking forward to more to come!
Thank you so much for working hard and pursuing your dreams and giving us such a lovely game.❤🎉
Wow, I played the hell outta this game. Crazy seeing this, hell of a job my friend, had a blast and really look forward to seeing what you create next. Well done!
Been a silent follower of your videos for a long time. From what I've gathered, you're a great guy and deserve all the bleesings coming your way. Fun to see you reinvesting into the game!
Indie game devs like you guys are the future of gaming!!! I love your game (yes, I do own it on steam), keep up the good work brothers!
I played Len's Island not long after it went on early access, love the art style and the pacing of the game. It's probably one of the best isometric base building survival game in the market. Hope you will keep it up in years to come!
Im also starting my solo gamedev journey and watching this warms my heart, and it gives me so much hope. Its like seeing my own steps, like starting the first devlogs, showing a bit of the work and ideas around, and one day even having my own small studio to bring wven more ideas to life, reach further...
The fact that a lot of people have so many negative advice for us starting out sometimes breaks our spirits.
This single video gave so much hope, I am so, so happy for you all! I'm wishlisting the game NOW. As soon as my financial state gets better, I'll buy it.
Thank you for this video.
Love watching these videos and randomly ended up watching one where I actually played the game 😂. Amazing work, look forward to jumping in again for the full release.
Can’t wait to see the 1.0 release!
Kudos man - Well deserved!
I've watched your journey since you started. I am stoked for you that you have made it this far. Your dedication, determination and perseverance have won you much respect. I regularly talk about you to my students who study multimedia and have dreams much like your own. I wish you continued success. What a wonderful product you have created. Well done.
Looks insane! Really impressive work
wow you are amazing!! I really hope I don't give up on my dream and do create a game. This video hopefully will keep reminding me that end result would be worth it so don't give up.
My name is fivarth and i'm starting my game dev jorney this year , its really awesome to see another projects like this, wishing all the best to you guys
This is absolutely inspiring. I’ll get it if ever you come up with a Mac version as I don’t work with Pc. If this was on ps5 I would get it today as I do t like to play games in the computer. You did outstanding work here. I’m an illustrator myself since 1992 and I love to find outstanding indie illustration work. Congratulations.
One of the prettiest looking games I've ever seen, amazing work well done
I was one of those people that played the steam next demo and wishlisted it back in 2021. Can't wait for it's full release, having co-op means another sale if I can convince my friend to play it too now. Keep up the great work
I noticed your game on Steam. Looks really fun, impressive to know this was a solo project. So congrats on that! Oh and btw ill be picking it up.
This is an amazing video... showcasing the amazing progress done... seeing your game iteratively improve into such a beautiful world, one man's vision become a studio... looking forward to the full release; maybe even on gamepass :)
Im out of words. This is crazy man. I hope every single second that you've spend on this game pays off ❤❤
Wow man! Thats so coooool, hope you sell a million and make more!
never played or hear of this game a day in my life but as an audio engineer i am proud of you!!! be an inspiration to others!! ill check it out
This is definitely on my list of games to play. I shared your story with my son to hope to inspire him. Thank you for sharing your story.
The game is beautiful, well well done. Looking forward to playing it soon! Got a lot on my plate right now for games, but this one will be tackled!
Here's a unique twist you could add. Make it where you switch from this pov to first person pov. That is something ive never seen done in a game.
I just found this in my YT feed. I’ve wishlisted it and will look into it more. Looks awesome, gj man.
Same
Congratulations! What an inspiring story. Looking forward to what you do in the future. All the best!
Dude this is so cool! Youre awesome :) so happy your doing what you love
What a journey! Well done! I have played Len's Island and it's a very nice game! Wish you all the best of success!
Well done. You earned every bit of your success. That is a lot of hard work and you are very skilled!
You know, sometimes I forget video games are art and someone's passion. Thanks for the reminder and congratulations; what an incredible journey. I've had this wishlisted for a month or so and will definitely be picking it up on or before full release.
the art style is incredible
Well done dude, truly inspiring! Keep up the good work and look forward to seeing more!
It's a fun game. Definitely needs co-op, though. I'm very much looking forward to that update.
This game looks so fun! The animations on the player character are very fluid
Wow man well done this is such a Journey! Congrats on every success coming your way
These are the type of games I love, why have I never heard of this before today. Purchased!
What an insane story, just goes to show what hard work and dedication can achieve. This is a beautiful master piece cant wait to play full release :D
I love this game and can't wait to see more. Thank you for letting me buy my bag back haha I so want a separate game of yours with zombies. I love the way everything looks.
I played it awhile back and enjoyed it. I noticed there has been quite of bit of updates/patches since I lasted played, so I look forward to checking those out (especially the companions addition :D) .
congratulations bro!
You made my dream's game actually, I love art style, gameplay, UI elements and VFX. Damn, pretty good
The art style is sooooo nice. Masterpiece!
My heart is warm for you guys. You made something you really wanted to and with all the effort and endless hours of development you guys have managed to make a incredible game. Well done guys! I’m excited to see what lies ahead🎉❤
I played your game for 64.8 hours! I'm ready for some more !
Hey man, I rarely comment but I hope it helps a little getting your video recommended for more people!
Seems like a hell of a journey you are on, good luck for the future.
PS: it was the first video I saw of this, just from the impression I think a lot of your success is for being honest to your fan and follower-base, being honest about what are the difficulties and why certain things are going in a certain direction, keep that up and I think you will have a loyal and happy supporter base :)
Great Video, I look forward to playing and reviewing this title! Keep up the good work!
Like and sub just because the commitment is super impressive! If only we had more Developers like you in other companies then games these days would t be so shite 🎉
After seeing this video and how cool the game development seems, I’ve decided that I’ll be buying the game and trying it out myself ‼️‼️ game looks really awesome and hopefully it’ll be a cool experience trying it out for the first time :)
ok this is it. You have inspired me to finally try game dev
I remember seeing this thing years ago, happy to see you kept it going. Cheers m8
Just dropping by to say well done and thank you.
At it's root, it's kinda like a fantasy RPG, survival, horror, first person shooter, base building, farming simulation, multiplayer online battle arena.
