I can’t wait to get a grouse this year. Last year I went out every weekend for deer and didn’t see anything but a doe. I missed 3 grouse though haha I think I need to put the 20g down and get out the 22.
Awesome video! The only grouse species in my area are Ruffed Grouse. There's Ptarmigan as well, but they are extremely difficult to hunt without a good dog, and you need to be a good wing shooter. Grouse are way better eating in my opinion.
You got the ol elmer fudd spot and stalk walk down....lol. That had me going thanks for the laugh. That grouse was Hhhuuuge. I cant wait to go and get some. Low deer numbers are prevelant the past few years, except in a few areas. Mines pretty bleak. Though one doe has been feasting on my garden. At this point im not even mad, cause i want her to be healthy and make more babies.
@flyingpotato101 if I'm backcountry hunting deer out of a backpackpack, I just use earplugs. If I'm using a shotgun for grouse hunting I use these amzn.to/47jQMWA
That shovel was probably from guys who had a cache nearby. I knew some dudes who always hunted the same area up in the mountains and would stash a bunch of gear before the season and just leave the shovel up there.
Love the videos! Just found the channel. I’m grouse hunting this weekend in the Tillamook area for the first time ever, wish me luck!

I can't wait for you to get some grouse either! Haha Sounds like we were in the same boat as far as finding deer. This year though 🤞
are you missing grouse w/ the 20g bird shot - or just feel more confident with the .22?
Thank you for the Fudd demonstration. I always wondered how to do it properly. That blue was fricken humongous!
@grob25 no problem 😆 Yeah I gotta go back and get a few more of those!
waited all year for your grouse videos. this year will be the year i get one.
Hell yeah. Thanks! This is the year!!!!
Very cool.. I've never had grouse before. Thanks for the video
@@EatCarbs tastes like chicken! 😆😂
Monster blue nice work season opener is this weekend the dogs and I will be out getting wild
@jacttackle57 thanks! Can't wait for this season! Good luck out there 😁
Unless I'm mistaken - Grouse Opens Sept 15 in WA.
That is correct! Almost here!!!
@@timdion7834 I’m in Oregon
Probably great hunting down there

Ruffed grouse are great fun to and definitely good eating! I've never hunted ptarmigan but sounds tough. Good luck in the grouse woods this year!
Subscribed brother great video cheers 🍻👍😀👌
@dennismain8030 thanks and thanks! Cheers

A lot of practice with that walk haha Yeah, hopefully find some more deer this season!!
Please tel me what kind of ear protection do you use while hunting, if you use any. Thank you in advance ! :)

Doesn’t grouse hunting in Washington state not open until September 15th?
That is correct! This was not filmed this year. This is old footage 😁
What’s your favorite seasoning to use on grouse man?
Franks red hot!
Cant wait to start seriously getting after it. Between salmon steelhead and birds its hard to make time for it all
Fall is the best season cuz there's so much to do... but there's so much to do! 😆🤣
Are you headshotting the bird with the .22? Or body?
@tennerv8 usually aim for the base of the neck. I'm not sniper enough for head shots haha

Good call. I always assume it's from old timers on horses haha
"...who's bringing shovels..." Firefighters. That's the only thing I can think of that makes any sense.
Seems like a reasonable guess!
Was this on the west or east side of the state?
This is the eastern side of the Cascades
Send me some feather Grouse master
I can absolutely do that!
Who IS bringing shovels?!?
Masochistic maniacs who hate their legs and back!
I was thinking more CSI: Cascade Backcountry 🧐
Investigative backpacking?
P will be your Watson for sure!
Most likely it was from the fire crews.
btw that feeling is our baser primal instincts being fulfilled. it's embedded in our dna and it's why food tastes so much better in the wild.
Oh hell yeah. I agree completely 🐔🔥🗻🍗
