Thanks a lot for tuning into this! Here’s a link to part 2 Hart of the YUKON - 14 Days Solo Camping in the Yukon Wilderness - Special Episode 2.0 ua-cam.com/video/QTT7iq6hKTY/v-deo.html
How lucky people are to be able to experience this...ive always lived in South Georgia never been able to even go on vacation anywhere ..but ive always felt like the Northern Wilderness is where i am suppose to be or shouldve been past 34 years. .Not here where i am. i would be so much happier living somewhere like that but Im trapped here with work and not being able to afford the move .. almost feel like my life is wasting bc im not where i should be .. im sure im not the only one ever felt this way. I Just hope people who are able to live in such a beautiful place or even vacation there know how lucky they are. I doubt ill ever make it there but maybe. I was jus meant to roam and explore be in the real wild .
You are not alone. I'm going to try soon. I raised my 4 kids by myself for the most part. I've been at my same job for 25 years. I feel like I'm wasting away in this stagnant hole. Alaska has always called to me.
Sell, give away, and throw everything you have. Then buy an older RV that is in good condition, and take off in that direction. The cost of living is so much cheaper in an RV. Workers are needed about everywhere you go.
I hope Jim got to read your comments and realize the joy and vicarious thrill he brought to you. I guess we're all lucky to live in this day and age where if someone cannot go to these places technology can give one some taste of the experience. I hope you get to go somewhere life changing someday.
Well Jim, you did it, I cannot go 1 day without watching at least 1 of your videos, sometimes 2. I’m born and raised in South Florida and have always loved the outdoors. The adventures that you and sometimes Ted go on are absolutely epic. It also goes to show that we really don’t have to go far to enjoy an adventure ourselves. You have inspired 10’s of thousands of people into doing just that. Keep up the incredible work Jim, I know I speak for many when I say we love your channel and all of the incredible hard work, from doing the trip, the epic filming and the never ending editing. You are the absolute best outdoor adventure channel on YT, by far. Thanks Jim
Thanks a lot for the encouraging and inspiring comment! It is great to get outdoors for so many reasons, mental health, exercise, to learn new skills, build your confidence and more. I’m glad you’re enjoying the content and I’m going to keep creating it.
I was just about to comment on this very subject. Come on people, if you "liked" the video take a moment to subscribe and show your appreciation. These videos don't grow on trees.
Hello, I love these outdoor excursions, such awesome country! I hope you keep focused and anticipate, serious stuff there for sure! Thank-you so much in taking me along. Keep safe, your so blessed to be able to do this! Thanks again!
I was born and raised in Whitehorse. Still here in fact. My grandma grew up in Mayo and is buried there. Whenever I see vlogs like this it reminds me how fortunate I am to live in a place where the outdoors are so accessible. I'm glad you use Up North Adventures. They are really good people.
Hi,ive been to whitehorse, back in 69,are the two paddle boats still feet from the river, the river tour was something else back then just wondering,oh i bet the sunsets are spmething else there now too
Jim, I've been following you since Alone. I gotta tell you, the film editing and general production quality has really come a long way. Well done. There are also plenty of other folks doing the same thing on UA-cam but I love watching you, your deadpan humour and great attitude set you apart. God speed in all of your future adventures, friend.
Dude, longest video of all time I ever watched on UA-cam was yours. The river trip. You said Portage like 10 times and damn that was a hell of a video.
You have given many of us something that we would never have been able to see on this present earth. But IMO you have done in it such a way, being humble, being kind, being like Jesus IMO. You are an amazing man. A great explorer, but most of all a great husband and father. You both are so amazing. You can live off the land, truly love and stay strong and loving and positive through all of it. So wise and so kind.
I would mirror EVERYTHING everyone has already said…and to add, you always make me laugh. My daughter and I have watched your material (and your brother) since Alone. We STILL laugh so hard about the “limpets”. Thank you SO, MUCH for your hard work and dedication…so I can take a trip with you I’ll never be able to take in my lifetime!! Ty ty ty
Ok so we gathered around the TV tonight to watch a Christmas movie. Somehow we wound up here and after 2.5 hours no Christmas movie needed! What an awesome trip! God Bless!
I love the music you selected at the beginning. I will watch your videos then usually watch them to help me fall asleep. With PTSD from years as a FF even IF I’ve watched the video before it keeps my mind focused on what you are doing & not those ghost they try to creep in right before I fall asleep. Thank you Jim for all that you do. These videos mean so much more to a lot of us. ❤. You get to do what you love & we get to come along via UA-cam & see the beauty & watch your experience. Oh & hopefully continue to make a living. Stay safe on the next adventure & tell the family hello.
It is nice to see these places again, after 30 years. The river is just as clean and the water in it is delicious, tea and coffee are excellent. My wife remembers this race every time September comes. Take care of nature.
Thanks Jim , and Tori , this was your best yet beautiful music to match dramatic heart felt scenes, only God can create such beauty and guess what you guys captured it 🙏🏼🇺🇸Hallelujah
The family you have , the adventures you/family go on and the pure happiness that is conveyed is the stuff of dreams for most of us . TY for taking us along for the ride of a lifetime. PEACE !!
Wish I was born in that neck of the world. You are a lucky man. Thank you very much for sharing it with us so those of us who can’t make it there can almost feel like what’s in there. Keep enjoying it and please, keep sharing it
Jim..this is my favorite channel on UA-cam! I love all the canoeing and hiking channels big and small out there, but You and Ted are great to watch whether you guys are together, solo, or with your wives, kids, and Pups! Well done once again Bud! You guys are Beasts!
I'm 75 now and thanks to injuries from a drunk driver my better daze sic are behind me. I lived on a mangrove island in the Caribbean by myself for 2 years. Traveled North and South East and West. I'm going to take the liberty of saying it's not the pan you use that is sticky. Any stainless pan can be seasoned and if you heat the pan first then put in oil when pan is hot enough your food wont stick. When a drop of water dances in your pan then put in the oil. When your oil shimmers then put in your food. I know over campfire it's hard to control heat. I saw you do a tripod or you can use coals instead of flames so you dont have too high a heat and burn your food and your pan. I know it's a small thing whether your food sticks to the pan. What is a big no no are😮 nonstick pans. Non stick pans have teflon or other type of PFAS coating. I would caution against using any pans pots or anything used for cooking that has a nonstick surface made with a PFAS chemical costing. The EPA and the European Union have recently set strict limits for PFAS's in our drinking water and for a lifetime exposure. PFAS's are forever chemicals. 95 % of Americans have some amount of PFASs in their blood and throughout their body. Once in they can not be removed. Practically all US tap water will have to be tested by 2025.i would advise that you never use a non -stick pot or pan that has a PFAS surface. EPA's limit as of 2024 is 4 parts per trillion. No amount no matter how low is good for any human being. I noticed the pan was new it probably is thin to save on weight. I would suggest you use a regular stainless stell pan the weight wasn't important and the thicker pan would stop your food from overcooking and burning. bring a regular pan and a cover.
I have watched your vids for a long time now and you’ve brought us to some amazing places. So far the last part of this one is my favourite. WOW, some stunning country right there. Thanks for bringing us along Jim✌️🇨🇦
ANOTHER GREAT ADVENTURE JIM IN THIS CRAZY WORLD WE LIVE IN IT IS SOOOOO GOOD TO WATCH A VIDEO ABOUT JUST LIVING IN GODS COUNTRY NO POLITICS NO BS JUST A MAN A FISHING ROD AND A BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY I WILL ALWAYS WATCH AND FOLLOW YOUR STUFF THANK U FOR SHARING IT WITH ME.
There is no way I don’t click like and subscribe when you put that much work there to pre-plant the camera to see you passing through for that many shots!!!! Love the nature, love your video more.
Thanks Jim, from Australia, I used to watch surfing vlogs, but now Jim Baird is my go to for outdoor adventure. Something about going with the flow of the river, the landscape change and so well edited and produced Thanks again Jim for taking me to Alaska, some place I will probably never go to.
This is the very best video ever. Thank you for taking us with you on the Yukon River. Totally Awesome footage. It’s like we are there right with you. God Bless you . 🤗🏔️⛰️💖🌊 🎣
Thx JIM buddy ..video is outstanding & nature to , you are very good filming look like that whole set of Cameraman's around you.. Well done. Wow👏👏 ..Bravo & keep going .Say hello to you sweetie boys. 👍🌿🍺☘🌲🙋♂🤠👏
I like the way that you create the problems to make the event interesting and to show possible situations that could possibly be on any situation. Clearly educational
Amazing video from start to finish! The gorgeous scenery just got better & better as it went along. Hart River water is beautiful!! Glad you managed to capture a quick shot of that beautiful moose! Enjoyed your commentary, too. A most enjoyable video for sure!
Great video, love all the different shot angles! You make the viewers feel like we are right there with you. Thank you for sharing this epic adventure!
Я мало понимаю на английском. Но эти 2,5 часа прошли, как полчаса. Очень рад, что их посмотрел. Сам из Сибири. Понимаю, этого человека. Он мне не брат по крови, но брат по духу.
I am from Maine and his is amazing that you are out there being you and doing this. Love this - be safe and live your life to the fullest out there!! Keep sharing. This is how we all need to slow down and enjoy even with a a little extra work. You should get a dog! to keep you company. :)
Jim this was amazing. The scenery was breathtaking. I really enjoyed this one, thanks for taking us along and keep up the great work. I look forward to tagging along on more adventures!! I Love your videos!
I always appreciate how much you enjoy going with family and friends, those memories are incredibly special. However there is something unique and special about going it solo. Be safe and enjoy the paddles. Fish on. ;)
So, because there is a cabin there it’s not remote and there are people there? There is no road into the cabin or lake (far from it) is extremely off- grid, no one has been there for years. Float plane access only. lol
Digging this trip Jim, man that scenery is awesome! Amazing territory. That water so clear, beautiful . It’s calming …Peaceful, great for the soul And documenting it to watch again 👍 But I got dyalises tomorrow so I gotta pass out lol I will finish watching the other half In Dyalises tomorrow. Enjoying it big time.
Great video adventure. I have been to and floated the Nahanni. Jim, your right, the Northern Yukon will capture anyone. After watching of your video adventures, It's my opinion you are the BEST Canoest living today. Take care and happy adventures. Al ( Big Al ) Manzie, Virginia Beach, Va.
Jim, I have to tell you I have been watching quite a lot of Alaska adventures on you tube and you take the cake. The scenery that you photograph is unbelievable. I can watch your videos all day. Thank You for letting me see Alaska the way I always thought it looked like.
Great to see.you eating porridge, being Scottish , I can understand why the yukon drew so many Scots to explore it beautiful country,, you so so lucky, to be able to go and canoo the great river systems...
I feel u but I just watched a previous one where the guy saved up 4years to a 300 day survival challenge on a island and part of it reminds me of kids of colonizers who grow up rich Europeans that stole there wealth from other countries and you knowing his living a dream and that you will never be able in your life time to have that opportunity ..........
Jim's living my dream...Incredible documentarys.I started watching Jim's adventures over a year ago with a Yukon trip he did covering 1100 kms ,3 rivers in 15 days.He lost his paddles when the river swelled overnight.Love to watch that one again and forward it to friends, but can't remember or find the episode. Can anyone help? Thx
Just subscribed, UK here. Stumbled across this video, brilliant stuff likely sparked a trip for myself, so thank you. And yes, bacon makes everything better!
Gee I'd love to be able to go in the wilderness and live it the same way you are. Unfortunatly, I lack a lot of knowledge to do so... but I do what I can when I go, am just not as disconnected from civilisation as you are able to. Great videos, love them all.
I also like all the little details you are showing in this video. Like how you roll up your cord, the tools you are using, even using the can opener. Allot of newbies don’t know how to do these tasks. Great job!!!!
Or "yeeaahhh". Love it! Didn't realize this was Jim from alone until about 8 min in and he said something and his accent or just the way he talks made me remember who he was immediately from a show I hadn't seen in years.
First time viewer - you worked SO hard to get these shots - going through some of the hard parts twice to set up the camera for the fly by then having to go back for it - bravo, well done, this was hard enough without documenting it for the world to see! Thanks so much for sharing your passion with us!
Thank you Thank you brother, for over 2 hours I was not thinking about anything going on in the world and I had a Vacation with you!!!!! Thank you again.....
I loved this. Thank you so much for taking me out into the spaces that I love. I watched the whole documentary and didn't want it to end. Actually, I'm not sure why it did end when you still had 5 days left, and I was ready to go up that mountain with you...? I will click around and see if there is a Part 2 somewhere. Such amazing beauty, and you have some great skills. Thanks again.
You are He Man. Am Envious. You are right up there with Less Stroud! ( Survival Man) Am mid 60's. Grew up in Colorado. reminds me of a time when i dared to go over and beyond the normal path. Be safe young man.
God, I love this. Best movie I have seen in a while. Hollywood got nothin on you, brother. Dig the Robert Service reference. It grips you like some kinds of sinning; It twists you from foe to a friend; It seems it’s been since the beginning; It seems it will be to the end. I wish there was a kind of Colin Fletcher packing list companion pdf or the like. I'd read along while watching.
Wow, what an awesome video. Breathtaking scenery and great story. I went with a group of British soldiers on the Klondike Trail in the early 80’s and fell in love with the Yukon. What a great adventure and thanks for sharing the tremendous footage 👏👏👏 Peter
i enjoyed full movie one trench. few more comments i must add- * amazing cooking methods, one day you would be a world class one. i nailed it.* the way you pack/unpack things very funny. overall thank you so much for making & sharing.
Thanks for sharing your trip with us Jim.....I believe we have one of the most beautiful countries in the world and your video lends testament to this. Its amazing when you think about the old time Sourdough's that mined and travelled this rugged paradise. Thank you...a beautiful start to the day! I was glad when you showed your rifle because I was concerned you were traveling without protection in grizzly country. I myself would prefer a sidearm but in Canada it is a nightmare owning one...which is crazy...you should be able to carry a sidearm when traveling in rugged country
I'm planning on an Alaskan trip soon hopefully...a camping trip. I just want to be out there in the peace and quiet and cook up some good fish or whatever.. God willing, can't wait ..love the video
That was beautiful, from the clours of the rivers and streams to the trees, mountains, rocks, sky and yourself being 'Master of the Paddle'. I watched the 2nd episode first; as it came up on my feed 1st. Both episodes excellent, and a special Thank-you for taking time to let me actually take in the views❣️
I mean, I don’t think there are any rules. At time on a trip, it’s okay to try to make some distance when you want to, at times it’s good to not paddle and do a hike. There are things like the allotted time we have, food we have, changing seasons and other factors that necessitate faster travel some times than others.
jim, i so long for the adventures again. at 70 next summer i`m afraid my adventures like that are over, a buggered up shoulder and knee, turf toe, maybe its past me now. thanks so much for bringing my adventures back to me thru yours buddy, i`ve had to split this up tween morn, night, morning, but awesome vid bud. i`m guessin that the griz brown populations are sparse when i see your camps. enjoy all the trips man because my situation comes to all of us, just some dont want to accept the inevitable :). great vid jim and i know the feelings, smells and sight you experienced, hope ya get many many more. blue skys man.
Been watching your videos for over 5 years now. You were my favorite back then, and still are now. Incredible, remote, challening trips you go on. Havent seen many others who are capable, or have the bravery to do anything like what you do. Also love the easy going and educational vibe. My family/friends and i are serious canoe and outdoor enthusinasts, and we all agree your footage is our favorite. Thank you !

Good stuff man.
At about the 20 minute mark I was glad to see you were carrying a long gun. Never give it up and don't let them take it...
Your videos are great but lose that music it distracts from the beauty and serenity
all ok...but 1 thing..shower in a river too😅
Did you record all the footage by yourself??? 😮😮

Thanks
Hmm, I actually dint do that.
Fish on. ;)
7:29 "all alone in the remote" right across the lake is some cabins :D but wonderful place and video too
So, because there is a cabin there it’s not remote and there are people there? There is no road into the cabin or lake (far from it) is extremely off- grid, no one has been there for years. Float plane access only. lol
Incredible footage! Thanks so much for taking the time to film and edit all this together for us! Dying to go back to Alaska!
You’re very welcome, enjoy your trip!
Why is everyone, or just Americans, saying Alaska, when this is in Canada, in the Yukon Territory?
Hey Jim! I didn’t hear a drum shot after the canned muscle joke? 😅😂😂 The Bigfoots are hitting on trees with trunks Bah dah bump… 🥁
Digging this trip Jim, man that scenery is awesome!
Amazing territory.
That water so clear,beautiful .
It’s calming …Peaceful, great for the soul
And documenting it to watch again 👍
But I got dyalises tomorrow so I gotta pass out lol
I will finish watching the other half In Dyalises tomorrow.
Duh! The Yukon is NOT in Alaska. It is a territory of Canada!
Great to see.you eating porridge, being Scottish , I can understand why the yukon drew so many Scots to explore it beautiful country,, you so so lucky, to be able to go and canoo the great river systems...
You have pyramid ..wow on 15:35..amazing nature. 👏🌹🌿🙋♀
Amazing formation right?! Truly spectacular
Jim you rock ! I'm simply amazed at your content . As a fellow Canuk, I am so proud of you, your family and your brother! DAVE
Thanks!
Part of me has trouble watching these vids.. Due to the jealousy.
Get over yourself!
Chris, it’s an easy jealousy to get rid of. Go do it.
Awesome stew! I love how you show us that even though it's beautiful, it's not easy. Too many are not prepared for the hardship.
Yes a new video here we go!
👍💯
This is pure heaven and peace! Great Video
You’re welcome and I hope you do get out in a trip! It’s great to have you as a sub. Have a great day 🥓
Gee I'd love to be able to go in the wilderness and live it the same way you are. Unfortunatly, I lack a lot of knowledge to do so... but I do what I can when I go, am just not as disconnected from civilisation as you are able to. Great videos, love them all.
Thank you very much. Maybe start with something g smaller like a weekend at a state park and build from there.
That's exactly what I'm doing, in the La Verendry park (in Quebec, north of mont Laurier), every july. Camping and kayaking. @@JimBairdAdventurer
Awesome! A Canadian river float has been added to my bucket list!
That fish stew looked absolutely amazing!
It turned out great, thanks for asking.
I also like all the little details you are showing in this video. Like how you roll up your cord, the tools you are using, even using the can opener. Allot of newbies don’t know how to do these tasks. Great job!!!!
awesome
Your video is strong. But the beginning is epic... goosebumps... Greetings from 🇩🇪 Tom
Coolllllllllllll .
:)
Just incredible! I am only 24 minutes in. Thank you for sharing!
Drinking game: take a shot every time you hear “sweeper”.
Lol
Or "yeeaahhh".
Love it! Didn't realize this was Jim from alone until about 8 min in and he said something and his accent or just the way he talks made me remember who he was immediately from a show I hadn't seen in years.
Trying to avoid them is a much better game.
First time viewer - you worked SO hard to get these shots - going through some of the hard parts twice to set up the camera for the fly by then having to go back for it - bravo, well done, this was hard enough without documenting it for the world to see! Thanks so much for sharing your passion with us!
You’re very welcome, thanks for noticing and it’s good to have you here at the channel.
the music just ruins this whole video feels like im watching a Disney movie
Thank you Thank you brother, for over 2 hours I was not thinking about anything going on in the world and I had a Vacation with you!!!!! Thank you again.....
This is pure happiness, thank you Jim! I paddled the Yukon river last summer and I miss it. This is next level
Thanks Jim. Such an amazing job capturing the wilds of the area.
Much appreciated! Thanks for giving it a shot.
It grips you like some kinds of sinning;
It twists you from foe to a friend;
It seems it’s been since the beginning;
It seems it will be to the end.
I wish there was a kind of Colin Fletcher packing list companion pdf or the like. I'd read along while watching.
Absolutely stunning scenery just magnificent. What a great trip.
Thanks Jim .
That was an epic two and a half hours of viewing, thank you for sharing your trip...
You’re very welcome!
Thanks for sharing your adventures! This one is extra special! Too bad your Bro 😎 wasn’t with you for this one.
Thank you for this amazing vidéo ! Pozz svima ot sefer I marija. Francija
Thank you, Jim..
Really good from start to end subscribed from me ( at 3 am) and look forward to the next one I watch
Awesome. Glad you liked it and great to have you as a sub.
I admire your spirit! Keep being awesome!. I admire your spirit! Keep being awesome!.
Such a great video!
I enjoyed every second of it💯👌🏻
Niiice! Thanks for Chaco g it out, glad you liked it!
Good morning Jim... thank you for sharing your adventures! 😊
That is a beautiful place.
It takes as long as it takes.
When in a place like that you should not be pushing for time.
Thank you !
