Great trellis set up. Definitely helped in how I'm going to set up my Dragon Fruit cuttings alongside a backwall branching outward via wire mesh and foam to protect main DF plant. Thank you.

I used madre de.cacao trees and other fruit trees like mango, jackfruit, soursop, pomelo.,rambutan etc. as trellis for my dragon fruits. Two of my df plants were toppled down by typhoon last month. Now, what I do is pruning the branches at the minimum so as not to put more weight on the trellis. You can see my dragon fruit plants in my small gardening channel. I have 16 varieties including the australian golden yellow variety.

+Sheena Goodchild Thank you Sheena! Yes DF grow well in pots and I also have two plants growing in pots - yellow variety - I think they do well in containers because of how drought hardy they are so if you forget to water them (like me LOL) they still survive. Cheers :)

Thanks for the feedback Deborah! There are several ways to grow the vine - most people grow them up a single thick post but this method on a trellis also works well. Cheers :)

Well put together! You covered everything I had been searching for to espalier this plant. I like the look of the wire cloth much more than the post and tire method. Do you have a video on training dragon plant to produce maximum fruit?

    Bloody Hell
    Who's this handsome young man ? 😂
Am intetested in trying to grow one of these in a pot if possible. Bought one fruit at a supermarket in NZ for NINE DOLLARS I might add
& sure enough NO discernable taste at all (exactly like their tomatos)
All I got was a hole in the wallet and an earfull about wasting money.😂

Mine is growing up and over the carport but it is shadowed by the giant clumping bamboo and it limits the sunshine and accessibility. As a renter I can't pull out the bamboo but I have taken some 4ft cuttings that have already fruited and am potting them up. I can then take them with when I go! 😎

are those cattle panels you cut down or are they specially made for gardening? I have several cattle panels here that I use in the garden ,some are 12 feet and one or two are 16 feet. they really work good for tomatoes pole beans and even cucumbers so they go up and I can tie the plant as it grows and it keeps the plants from growing all over the ground.

+MissouriOldTimer Yes these panels are sold cut down but you're completely correct and basically any similar panels such as reo mesh, cattle panels, etc are perfect for all those gardening trellis jobs. Actually, buying in larger size and cutting down would be cheaper. Cheers :)
