The JTM45 is just so pleasing to the ear. The Superbass sounds great too. Much more headroom on the Master Lead but the JTM45 wins all day for me
Three different flavors of excellence. Great demo!
Great shootout, thanks!
Great vids guys!!
+todd lemiesz Thanks Todd! Don't forget to subscribe!! ✌️
I love your accent. Ze marshalle cabinette iz ze best !!!
Think the super bass just won, but my three favourite amps ever, so tough call!
JTM45 wins for me!
Great video...all 3 amps are great!
The tone with those P90’s on Riff Raff was REALLY good. Very cool axe on that one.
Super vidéo les gars !!!
Difficile d'en choisir qu'un seul ... Allez, on va dire le Super Bass !
+Iron Stan & Copper Nick Merci!! Pas facile ouais !
Great video as usual! Would be really cool if you made a video with an Orange cr120. Probably the best solid state amp I've ever played! Maybe you could compared with some tube amp as well :) Just an idea!
+Vashi1 you are not the 1st one requesting this app, maybe we'll do it!
Wrong And that isn't a cool idea.
that's a spicy meatball. I liked them all I think the JTM45 sounded somewhere in between the highs of the superlead and lows of the super bass. Nice one
+The Pedalphiles thanks! Don't forget to subscribe!
:) heck ya keep rocking
Those are all beasts!! Best amp ever!!!! Great Frusciante/Hendrix "Castel made of Sand" cover.
Thanks guys.
+Nicola Facchini thanks!
+Nicola Facchini thank you!!
Wrong wrong And wrong.
Nothing to do with any jimi hendrix sounds.
Not even a basic fender sound either.
The fender pickup requires a fender signal cable to activate the fender sounds.
All three sounded great. I preferred the JTM45 overall. A little more buttery. The Superbass was bottom focused, 2203 the top and the JTM sat in the middle. Thank you for the comparisons.
I’ve got a 70 Superbass, 79 2203 and a 71 1987 and play them all through 68 Pulsonic Greenbacks. This is a great video and highlights the high mid focus and more unforgiving top end of the MV Marshall.
IMO the only metric where the 2203 outperforms the others is aggressive rock at higher Preamp settings or taking boosts for classic metal and more modern styles. But for medium crunch and lower gain stuff the 4 holers(and an attenuator) perform better. More midrange(and warmer in the midrange) sweeter high end, more articulate in the bottom end, more character and responsiveness.
I’ve had the 2203 for 10 years and if I played primarily late 70’s/early 80’s hard rock and classic metal I’d probably keep it for another decade, but I’m more into late 60’s to mid 70’s low to mid gain stuff so I think I’m gonna move it on. 😢
Super test !
I was suprised how clean JTM 45 sound in this clip
Best Demos on youtube.... Congrats ... they Rule
+Hernan Rosso Thanks!!! 👍✌️
Great video. I prefer the Super Bass. Very big sound. A bit like my Super 100JH
Wrong.
You're very disrespectful.
Did you guys say you recorded using an amp sim from 2 notes? I just got the Captor X and will be going from a JTM into it when it's finished being built and mailed to me.
The JMP sounds monstrous, perfect for 80's Metal.
JMP 2203 master volume became later what we know as the JCM 800 2203
@@mcfek7575 Yep, but the JCM800 2203 sounds different from the JMP 2203.
Compared to the JMP 2203 the JCM800 2203 has fatter sounding mids and also sounds more compressed.
Jcm 800 is the ultimate 80s metal amp
Wrong.
Famous people didn't use the basic amplifier.
They were all modified amps.
You're A liar.
2203 has that high mid bite and the biggest lows. The JTM 45 and Superbass sounds really similar, the JTM probably being the most versitile and best pedal platform. The voicings are all more similar than not though.
At around 45 years of playing, my tastes have mellowed. Having owned an 80's JVM, and a 20** JVM, I'm into less gain these days, and this makes me all the more excited about my incoming JTM45. I still have an Origin 20h, but I'm just not all that jazzed about it, but given its cost, will keep it around for more experimenting.
For anyone else experimenting with speakers/cabs, I've got several options, one of which is the 2x12 vertical w/ the Celestion 70/80s (actually, I have two to run a 4x12 option) and they're pretty tight and bright. I'm hoping they pair-up well with the JTM pretty well given its warm nature. I'm not opposed to a speaker swap though. I've heard lots of good things about greenbacks, blackbacks, and scumbacks with the JTM. This could get fun!
Ha! Of course it will get fun!
Nobody cares, paul.
You know that warmness thing? Its Actually, deliberate removal of the low string from the sounds.
They got rid of the low E string from the sounds through various means.
They deliberately take it out of the chord.
Lots of people left marshall because marshall likes to remove the low E string from the sounds.
@@dreyn7780 removal of the low string eh? I'll have what you're having!
Hi 2guys
Can you remember what Speaker was used?
2203 rules but I'm biased as I love mine especially at 11!!!
I totally agree I bought a jmp2203 in 1978 and its still going strong so i'm definitely biased as well... #GoesTo11
Did you guys tell us what the values of the tone and volume controls were?
Two guys three amps.
+1 JTM45
Superb vid comparison mon amies! Me personally like the JTM 45, fattier sounding and seem to handle Pedals better than the others (in my ears) or especially better than the 2203, but also liked the agression you got from the 2203. Despite this it would be interesting to know how the EQ stacks and Volumes where set on each amp and if the Plexis where patched or the 2203 has a bright cap Mod. The 2203 sounded very right, not so trebly as mine 2104 Combo does, compliment. I have always issues on treble but everything were just right.
+fztiioannis pilarinos 2203 should be stock but I never verified.
+fztiioannis pilarinos I use to rehearse with another 2203 which sound very close to this one.
Are you using the "right" speakers with yours?
2 Guys 1 Amp Yes my friend, it has the original G12-65 from that time.
I was wondering as well, but many people recommend especially for this amp as it dimes trebly amps. Maybe it is the construction of the combo case which has the size of an Bluesbreaker! Which is not very deep.
+fztiioannis pilarinos yes g12-65 should be great. Have you ever plugged it into a 4x12?
Yes, used to have a 4x12 1960AX with UK made Greenbacks from the 90's together with an JTM45 RI. I traded it for the 2104, but at that point of time I did not had found my final setting for the 2104. It souded full with the 4x12 but as well trebly enough, but this was maybe due to the EQ settings. Now I think about putting the amp into a Headshell and the G12-65 into a Zilla Cap modell Super Fat Boy, they have a detph of 360mm which should add more low mid growl and increase the bass or I trade it (due to fact that I can only assume the final result, but not beeing sure) for something else, but basically I would be a petty. I like a lot you Orange AD30 Vid, seems to be a cool and fat sounding Amp.
Think JTM = Angus, JMP Super Bass = Malcolm 😉
Hey, do the same comparison but the 2203 in low input... Just for fun! No one has ever made a good demo of the low input on a 2203!
+Kent Grill-Als Will do!
jmp superbass was so natural, jtm45 was like superbass with a tube screamer in front, 2203 was like putting a 6l6 tube in it
Le superbass pour toujours !
Superbass with the telecaster, JTM with the startocaster .
Can you compare the jtm45 reissue with a jtm45 handwired reissue ? I think that Marshall refer them as Marshall 2245 and the 2245thw
+Sylvain Alain Good idea! We'll thing about it!!! 👍✌️
2 Guys 1 Amp yeah because I don't know if we can hear a difference between the handwired version and a PCB mass production version. Basically does the mojo you get what you pay for apply :)
After all of these decades a JTM-45/ Bluesbreaker is still the best amp design ever made.
tfw the jtm45 did Mastadon and killed it.
+trashcanmagic yes this is insane and unexpected!
only here to see if i need to find a superbass or if i can just get a jtm
Master Lead all the way! Beside the obvious master volume it has a much more responsive eq that makes it alot more versitile and you can, if you have an attenuator, get almost any Marshall tone out of it!
+Kent Grill-Als yes you are right, eq is way more responsive on the 2203. It is a life saver when you play on some cabinets.
I prefered the JTM from clean to medium crunch. For very crunchy tone Superbass had my preference. I did not liked the 2203, maybe because of the MV, it sounds somewhat fizzy.
The JTM 45 Handwired clearly blows everything. This is so round, so strong. P.S. (in French): Très belle chaîne les mecs. Chouette.
+Carl KIESER Merci Carl!! Ça fait plaisir ! 👍
+Carl KIESER Thanks Carl!! Ça fait plaisir !
Omg I love this. Can you do this with a tonebender MK I and/or MK II type pedals full attack? And play some low E string riffs?
Please Please. I’ll pay.
Hey guys what impulse response did you use on the torpedo?
+Matt G ownhammer impulse of a 70s marshall 4x12 cabinet with greenback M prerola from this pack: ownhammer.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=164&products_id=372
Yaa vee ah hee to pump ewe uhp! 😁
Hi.what patch cables have you used?
Superbass ! c'est le meulieur excusez mon français est terrible lol , you guys can play the guitar like total geniuses. you should start a band
Thanks!
2:48
2:54
Jtm 45
Tone seems same the 2203 just more gain
the video es great!the 1rst pedal sound is horrible
😊
2203 is the worst.Of course a master volume amp will never sound as good as a non master volume version thats just the way it is.
3 different plexi
great videos, love you guys, but you really shouldn't talk.
Ahahahah
