My all time favorite amp. I gig with a JTM-45 and it's everything i ever wanted from am amp.
Awesome!!! Just the best amp ever....Marshall ROCKS!!!!!!! Thanks for the fun...you guys rock too :)
can't like this enough....
Loved it. But one question... Does Danish Pete's black Strat have super powers? Everyone that plays it, drops my jaw.
Fooking great fun!!!!!!!!!!!
realy it sounds good!😈
Marshall General lol!
Precious!
So the Major got promoted then?!!
Where's Mary?
I love how tasteful Pete's style is. He always plays with the music. He's probably my favorite player at Anderson's. For sure.
Justin Long yup me too he's a bad ass
@@ronaldjohnston3723 I love
To be fair Pete has had quite a career making other people sound good
I prefer the guitar playing of these guys to Chappers, anyday.....
cheekyboy5000 same
True.
Name one monkey that could. I'll wait. I'll bet you don't even have any monkey friends, you big phoney.
Why?
and the marginally better 'jokes'
the JTM45 actually has a lot more low end and smoother, sweeter clean sound than the 1987x, they aren't as similar as people think.
Yeap I bought it about two months ago and was wondering they said that's not for drop and low tunning and well playing with my Reverend Baritone tuned do C is sounds very good.
Out of all the Andertons guys I enjoy Pete's playing the most.
I guess I'm early! Always wanted to see some vintage high-powered Marshalls on here!
English dude: Let's not do that!
Danish dude: Yeah, let's try it!
Danish master race, yo.
There seems to be a rule in Paradiso. The more cool in the room, the more moaning in the comments. FFS, people.
so If I pop into andertons you won't mind if I turn it up to 11? ;)
OK, I would intentionally cut my finger if it would make me play like Pete did right there.
Yeah, it seems he gets better every time he cut his finger...
Pete is like a big child. His face when he turned everything up full was hilarious. Great big cheesy grin :)
it makes me feel very depressed when I remind myself, these guys get paid to do this every single day...awesome video!
love watching Pete play guitar. Fantastic player!
Their playing is so tasty. Would like to hear a bit of Rabea aswell.
jtm-45 nothing else is necessary to be said
I thought Clapton was the first one to push these amps into submission on the beano album, didn't he basically invent the marshall sound cranked with a les paul?
These boys forget their history!
I thought he did that with a Bluesbreaker
same circuit
It's a "Bluesbreaker" because of Clapton
Yes he literally brought the overdrive guitar sound to the world when he refused to listen to the sound tech when recording and turned the amp up to 10 to make it "feel" like the live performances. The result- overdrive. Guitar music has never looked back since.
Love Marshall's. Anderton's should give you guys disposable earplugs to show people there is nothing to fear about Marshall's. The cheapest earplugs cut the most, about 30 decibels, and that brings hearing damage to an impossibility even at 120 dB, unless you play for more than 3 hours. The treacherous shit are the little amps that nobody respect and are just about as loud; will give tinnitus in no time. The wattage has more to do with clean headroom than decibels.
Earplugs do not cut 30dB: read about the Noise Reduction Rating calculation on Wikipedia.
Yes, scientist: OSHA and NIOSH calculate attenuation differently. Actual attenuation also depends on whether you use the earplugs correctly and distance from the source (the cab) and other factors. Anyway, much better than nothing. The pharmacy ones I have are rated for 33 dB. It depends on the vendor. I use Westone ES49 adapters on custom earplugs and are rated at 25 dB, but snap on custom earplugs, which are easier to use. Musician adapters are rated for 15 or 20 dB and offer better EQ, but I prefer the ES49's for protection. They cost like $5 to replace. By the way, if you don't clean them, the wax helps attenuate even more of the noise, so that's more for your calculation. Mine look disgusting but do the job. Typical half-stack delivers 120 dB. Stand back by 6ft, put some earplugs, and you're fine for a Marshall on 10.
PlayerX I use bulky, passive muffs with an NRR of 33dB. Good call on the distance, by the way; many people overlook how much that can help.
I got a sound pressure meter and measured the decibels. It falls quite a bit, especially off-axis from the cab. I have a very expensive Aracom attenuator that works with 100W's but I never use it; earplugs are enough. I looked into muffs, but if you move them a little bit by accident, you could be hit with deafening dB's. Those custom earplugs are expensive to mold, about $200, but completely worth it; the fit is tight and it's very easy to put on and remove. And the highest rating noise-reducing adapters are $5 bucks to replace.
Inverse square law at work.
If anderton's was a talk show i would still watch it, love pete!
Paul should get another new show on here but Guitar/Acoustic Paradiso should stay Mick and Pete.
Mick is not always able to do it thats why they have Paul in the first place
If you look down in the comments, Anderton's Music Co. said they are just trying to mix it up. I've seen them comment that in other videos too.
TastyChevelle apologies
If you have no attention span, and watch nothing else, watch at 24:48 when they sacrifice their eardrums to the gods of tone -- now THAT is how a JTM45 sounds!
I was all set to order Paul's Custom Shop Strat, but the link goes to the JTM. Oh, well....
I love Paul & Pete. Thanks for pairing them in this video.
5881's have less headroom break up sooner giving it a Squisher feel over the stiffer sound of a 6l6
200w Marshall Major = Ritchie Blackmore
Paul is so sick of Pete talking over him and interjecting. Haha. The looks on his face at times are priceless.
fucking terrifying
i keep thinking he's gonna kill him
Randall Yeager I think Paul always looks like that though. He has the perfect Robert De Niro nice guy who could kill you at any time vibe haha. I love it! Wish he would be on Andertons more often.
You got that impression too huh? Lol he looks so annoyed.
Pete be careful eating those chicken and waffles haha. Paul, pete please channel some of your tasty licks and skill my way!
The way each channel has its own volume, like a mixer, means you can dick around until you nail it. The bass out of these is fucking stellar
Too much chatting, just fucking play
How many weeks running is it we've had Paul on here? Is Mick not doing Guitar Paradiso any more? #BringBackMick
Isnt mick on holiday?
Mick is still doing videos with us. We are just mixing it up. Different faces, different playing... #MickWillBeBackNextFriday :)
espyoshi
Nah, I've seen him around, and he's still doing Acoustic Paradiso... just a matter of getting him back on here! Paul's all right but the camaraderie is missing, and his tone tends to be hit and miss...
Andertons Music Co
Glad to hear it. Bring back Bea and Pete while you're at it... would be nice to see more of the Captain too! I was watching your old in-store Christmas show recently and was struck by how great all the jamming was too - getting everyone together for a massive jam session every once in a while would be great!
*****
Chappers is on his channel every day, but the Captain does just 1 or 2 videos a week there and pretty much nothing here on the Andertons channel.
My Bluesbreaker is currently running 6L6s, it did sound different to when I was using the 5881s. They are supposed to be the same but they are slightly different.. But these amps are all about the GZ34 valve rectification, thats where the magic is..
My all-time favorite amp
Better get a Kemper to profile it! :)
In my gig rig I use Line 6 HD Pro X (via a dual tube-preamp and velocity100). My crunch sound is based on their modeling of JTM45 (plus some JCM800 parallel) and it is pretty damn good to be honest.
I have the real thing. Sounds better than anything I've ever heard in my life, no modeling amp or simulation can even come close. I run it into a 1960TV cab with greenbacks, and I have a RockCrusher attenuator so I can still crank the amp but control the volume. Took me several years to put aside enough money for it but the sound is just unparalleled...
Dagger 323
I also have one. But would you gig with it?
Of course I would. That's the whole reason I got one :)
The 5881 is a redesign of the 6L6 with about 20% higher max voltage rating and is mechanically more reliable. 5881 valves are great for touring (because they're reliable)but they do sound different to 6L6s. The 5881s I've heard (Sovtek) are a little blurry and I think they had a less scooped midrange.
these guys are so good. not in chatting, but their playing is great.
Pete's style:
A couple of blues licks. Start off loud, play the last notes so quiet you can't hear them. Move your body sideways and shake the guitar neck on the last note.
Then some jazzy chords. Repeat above, start loud, then sort of mimick playing notes. Shake guitar neck on last chord. Look for affirmation.
Announce you're gonna do some metal. Play the notes E and Bb at the same time and grin.
Chap:
Gain. More gain. Pinch harmonics. Play with both pick and pick. Gain. Pinch harmonics. Then tune guitar.
Finally at the end...they turn the overdrive pedals off.. We want to here the amp, not pedals..I own one and it is superb..
Just me that feels like there's a lot of tension between these two
Bring back Mick!!! We want the original cast of Guitar Paradiso! #BringBackMick
I'm sure that they used KT66 power valves for the power amp. At least that's what was in the bluesbreaker amps that Clapton used.
True. I have a JTM 45 with KT66s. These valves lower the output to about 35 watts, but I get a wonderful vintage tone and thru a quad it has bags of volume.
I enjoyed this video - thank you . New series - "everything on 10"
Next time, can we have Pete's 335 into a 1959 100-watt Plexi, fully cranked? By the way, the 200-watt was called the Major, and it was terrible. Can't take pedals at all, the electrics are already pushed to unsafe levels and they literally smoke like chimneys if you start to drive them - a high gain pedal would set fire to them. If you want 200 watts from a Marshall, what you need is a Plexi upgraded with a better transformer and KT88 valves. Of course, if you're playing a Gibson 345/355 or Lucille, you can run two of them in stereo...
6L6 vs 5881? Same 'Family'. Electronically they are the same, but they have different characteristics. Sturdiness, power dissipation and plate voltages are different. A 5881 is "ruggedized". "Spec" is 30W for 6L6 and 23W for 5881. But, only for old stock. Today they almost do interchange the names and mostly it is marketing...buyer beware! Read stuff by the tube guru of all time...Myles Rose.
you know max plate/screen dissipation for the 6l6 is 24w? (rca manual) i think you are talking about the 6l6gc, maybe just a typo. regards
Yes, a silly assumption on my part, I did mean GC...the 'real' 6L6...LOL! 5881 is closer to a B I think...please...no more tube charts...it's blurry...3 AM in California LOL!
... but does it Kemper? lol
100%
www.guitarworld.com/gear/kemper-releases-free-michael-britt-rig-pack#!
That free, official rig pack contains a JTM45 profile by the great M Britt. Tried it myself, sounds stunning!
Damn on 10 it sounded really great
My favorite Marshall for cleans ever.
Hey Danish Pete, I'm very curious about your black strat and it's features, could you make a video review of your strats? I think it would be a cool video!
Could be wrong, but I think 5881 are closer, at least in sound and voltage, to a 6v6 though I do believe they are technically a 6l6. I find them to be more spongy and a little browner in sound than a 6l6gc, which will have a harder sound - to my ears. Just my two cents...
When I've seen Pete and the JTM together I punched the like button right away!
With the Astoria Custom you have a JTM45 AND a JCM800, still going cheaper than they were, you can totally overdrive the valves at 5W or 30W with the Astoria.
The 5881 or the (6L6WGB?) is a smaller bottle and smaller power version of the 6L6GC which is in all mesa amps. Design spec wise, they should have identical characteristics apart from a higher plate voltage and therefore higher theoretical wattage on the 6L6GC.
Pete, I have the original T Jauernig Gristle King (who T-Rex borrowed the rights from). It never leaves my board. THE most useful drive and clean boost pedal out there.
hey there! I hope Lee will read this because I have a question which is unrelated to this video but still. I'd like to buy 2 Tone City pedals, namely the Angel Wing and the Tape Machine but I live in Austria and I don't know how much the shipping will be for the 2 pedals + the free power supply. As soon as I know that I'm gonna charge my Paypal and purchase those two fantastic pedals. Cheers!
+Tom Henks Hi Tom. Please contact us via the website or Facebook. Many thanks.
I'm austrian as well and have ordered at Andertons before. Shipping ihas always been very reasonable. You can just go to checkout and select your country and it will show you the total cost. Also be aware that the power supply isn't going to do you much good outside of the UK, at least not without an adapter.
thanks for the info! I know I'm going to need an adapter but I also know where to get one so that's no problem
That's paul from Line 6 O_o
HOW NICE...THEY HAVE OPPOSITE GUITARS...BACK W MAPLE NECK...WHITE W ROSEWOOD FRETBOARD.
Another great Vid, Pete's a great guitarist but IMHO Paul is equally as good.
nah, you just need to practice more :)
because it's never too loud if you play well, right?
I could lean out the window on either side and touch the buildings next door.
Never had a neighbor problem yet. :)
Ok let’s play something
(They speak for another 5 minutes - no playing)
Okay we have to play something
(They speak for another 5 minutes - no playing)
Okay you go first
(They speak for another 5 minutes - no playing)
Playing start at 15:28
playing actually starts at 0:07 you incompetent tardation.
Mario Gonzalez Yea... I can’t watch these guys because all they do is talk or compare things and don’t say what they’re playing and you have to rewind and fast forward for an hr to figure it out
You know, Danish Pete and the Geordie would either be a great name for a band.
Pre-crank: chipper and enthused.
Post-crank: exhausted.
Jtm45 should have KT66s. That's the sound.
love these guys...but i suspect that they'd get punched in the face a LOT if they played in average venues.
oh my it is the Miami Vice twins on Andertons. Are you cool cats going to fly into Miami later today and make a huge Coke Bust. Your dressed perfectly! LOL
Best video Ever! Love this amp. Takes pedals so well but the key as you said is it just has a killer base clean sound and then you can crank it .... yea!!!
An amp with relicing sounds like one of the dumbest fucking things I've ever heard, but whatever floats your boat. I don't doubt they would sell some.
I played this with a DigiTech Death Metal Pedal up front! Trust me when I tell you it sounded like those early Black Metal sound! Love this little piece of Heaven!
Great playing guys.
Danish Pete, I call bullshit! There's plenty of money up there on the neck haha
Andretons does sell ear protection.
I'd think NJ you'd miss too much without the custom made ones.
which are not cheap. 250.00 back in 2001. But I still have them...
What speakers does this cab have? Greenbacks?
What's the cabinet and speakers they using?
Don't relic marshall amps.. its gay
Gosh, Paul sounds fantastic on this.. What a class act :)
I gotta get this amp!!
It sounds great cranked up. Thank you for the demo.
My amps all relic themselves within a year or so.
These guys are so damn good.
If I had 25% of Pete's talent I would still only be about a quarter as good as him. Great player.
If i had 100% of Pete's talent I would be as good as him.
the 200w is called the major
I listen to these just to hear Pete play
you cant handle 30 watts????
these dudes can play but strats just don't sound good to me
If the lack of mids is your problem, then check out the G&L S-500 (G&L was Leo Fender's last company).
15 min. of talk !
Thank You! Thank You! Thank YOU!!!
That's the sound
I have a mode four
too much talking
Pete, Brother, You are lightyears ahead of most of your peers! Including this one.
We love your Class. Everyone don't understand Class.
Bt most of us do.
superb !
Dumb questions:
A, if you have a looper, why is the other guy there?
B, if advertising a LOUD AMP, why use guys who play really quietly??
had to ask...
Sorry guys normally love your vids but too much shit being talked for 15mins,,,and need close ups of settings
Pete, are you the only Danish musician? They do plastic bricks really well but music...???
Twin's multiple inputs just do a high-sensitivity / low-sensitivity thing right? In other words, on is padded by around 6 dB the other not. It just makes the input 'hot' or not.
The bassman and the whole jtm45/plexi thing about the two inputs it is a 'channel optimized for low tones' and a 'channel optimized for high tones'. One is tight in it's tone and crunch, the other is full and round in it's tone and crunch.
Jump them together, and with gain-low you can control the amount of distortion for bass tones, and with gain-high you can control the amount of distortion for mid + high tones. Basically, being able to dial in how tight you want the amp to be.
One of the reason why hot-rotted plexi's are a modern-metal dream (they can go tight without tubescreamers in front) and I'm guessing it's the basis for the Fortin Tanas / Randall Satan. They have gain for low tones gain for high tones and then an overal gain. I'm betting it's from this jumped-plexi design.
5881's and EC883's with GZ34, the Marshall Astoria has KT66's like the JTM45 had slightly later in the Beano Album with Clapton and John Mayal. It also has ECC83's and GZ34 the sae as JTM45. Don't forget the Astoria!
Hi I have to say Pete is right both the JTM45 and the Fender Bassman have 2 channels and a 4 jack sockets, so a hi and lo impedance input for both, When you jump 2 channels together, you are putting your guitar into both inputs together, as 1 is a bright/high treble channel you are getting both clean and bright together, so the clean has a little more bass than the bright on it's own. The recent Astoria Custom has a similar sound, but turns into a JCM800,which is an added benefit when you want to rock out. The Astoria Custom is a bit cheaper than it wasat the moment(hot tip!) Tommi x :)
Hey guys!Im going to play with an rhcp tribute band!Is the JtM 45 a good amp for John Frusciante tones? Thanks!
andreasgreekrhcp The man used it himself
andreasgreekrhcp it is a good amp for this tone yes have it breaking up slightly over driven
Silver jubilee
