OMG! You blew this one right out of the park! I thought, well, shoes don’t matter all that much, but it’s a good way to travel to get 9 outfits in maybe a personal item. Shoes do matter. And the ways you combined 1, 2, or 3 tops at a time was just genius! Your total number of different outfits was insane.
Thank you for this! I just lost 30 lbs. And have been donating a lot of my clothes that’s too big for me so my wardrobe has really dwindled down to only 15 items. This video really inspired me to get creative with what I have. I haven’t bought any new clothes yet because I’m still loosing weight but when I do buy, I’m keeping all of your advise in mind and purchasing very mindfully. ❤
Congratulations on your weight loss journey! I'm aiming to shed some pounds myself in hopes to feel better in my joints, but am also tired of having a double closet (Pandemic weight gain clothes, & pre pandemic.) Keep up the good work!
I knew a woman (no longer with us, sadly) who packed black and white short and long sleeved T’s, a pair of black pants, and a black shift dress. Sandals and sneakers, a scarf. That was for two months or more on the road. She might get tired of wearing black/white (not really) but anyone who saw her thought she looked chic. And it all fit in a small back pack.
This video is incredibly helpful. Please do another -- or two or three -- to reflect different seasons. The most helpful tip for me was your suggestion to choose different silhouettes. For bottoms especially I have a habit of sticking to the same long straight leg silhouette. At 68 I don't see a leather mini in my future but you did give me some other great ideas! Thank you for all you do.
Interesting! "333" used to mean, "33 items for 3 months" and it was a very popular "project" a decade (or more!) ago. In any case, what you did here is how I pack for travel. I always start with the shoes (depending on the activities, and never more than 3 pairs) and from there, I choose the bottoms. Selecting the tops comes as a final step for me, and I make sure I include "something dark, something light, something colorful, something modest, and something sexy". I can travel with just a carry on for 3-4 weeks if I make sure all the tops go with all the bottoms. If I had to describe a formula that works for me, it'd be "2 purses, 3 shoes, 4 accessories (scarves, belts, beach cover-ups, trench coat, hats, jacket...that type) 5 bottoms, 6 pieces of jewelry, 7 tops". All of these things fit in a backpack or small carry-on!
@@lisamccoy4216 The Vivienne Files! Wow! I cannot even estimate how many times I've visited throughout the years looking for "color" ideas! I love her wardrobes inspired by art or a printed scarf, and the "scenarios" she created often made me smile. I don't know why I stopped reading her; it's been a while. Thank you for the reminder! I'll go right now and see what she's published lately!
I've really been enjoying these 333 challenges on Instagram, but the outfits flash by so quickly! Thanks for slowing it down and explaining your logic behind how you chose each piece.
YES on choosing things that serve different purposes. I went to South America in December for 3 weeks, from Buenos Aires to the Magellan Strait; temperatures from 80s F to in the 30s; potential for winds, rain, snow; hiking in mountains, city adventures... I used a carry-on bag. People in my group asked how. I said, for each item I thought about packing, I asked myself if something else already served the same purpose. If there were duplicates in duty, only 1 came with me (aside from underwear and sox, for instance.) You don't need a lot. Thanks for sharing.
I have to tell you how much I have enjoyed your videos. I live rurally in the mountains of northern Washington state and am planning my first visit to Montreal and Quebec City in June-and have felt lost about how to dress in an urban area. I’ve worn yoga pants throughout the pandemic, so am now just looking at my closet and wondering where to start. Watching you is like spending time with a friend. You know how to have fun with clothes! You are relaxed and chatty and entertaining. Thank you!
Wow! So impressive. So so good!! Those dark wash jeans are stunning on you. The light striped sweater really added so much possibilities. This is a keeper!
I like these kind of videos. You are so creative. I need to do this for my upcoming Paris trip. It's going to rain a lot I think. So trying to keep outfits mixed and matchable plus being able to fit in rain coat and alternating foot wear for a week.
Take two bottoms and three tops, along with one all-purpose rain jacket or slicker. Make sure colors are all complementary and solid, so your accessories will steal the show. Take 2-3 oblong scarves (or wait to buy them in Paris!). Take two pairs of shoes only, in case one gets wet, along with something to sleep in. Take maybe three pairs of earrings and a necklace (or wait to buy those in Paris too!). It's such fun to get a practical and beautiful souvenir you'll use and remember from your adventure.
Thanks for this one! I’ve watched all of your videos, but for some reason this one really resonated with me. I’ll be using this formula on an upcoming trip. I really appreciate all of the thought you put into this. Thank you❤
I loved how you put everything nicely together with such simple pieces. Your body type also makes it more flattering as I wouldn't look half as good or have the closing as well fitting (a little loose), but still great ideas!
You look so beautiful in every single outfit, Alyssa!! The pieces you picked are really great together, I am going to challenge myself and try the same! Wish me luck haha
How timely! I am in the process of packing for 6 weeks in Berlin...for a funeral, a lot of physical labor indoors and out clearing out a big estate, and, if I am lucky, a few get-together's with old friends. 3 bottoms and 3 pairs of shoes sounds right. Tops there will be a few more, as I will be limited to hand-wash for most of the time. So my capsule will be a lot more 'utilitarian', but thanks to what I have learned here, I have a style uniform of pants, thin turtleneck and warmer V-neck sweater in different color combinations, with some jewelry to change it up. I will be fine :-) Thank you for all the style advice over the last few years, Alyssa - I will be putting it to the test.
All three tops together,I just knew you were going to do it❤.Love you my personal stylist,Im from the southern hemisphere, greetings😊.Let me rewind and continue watching.😂
Good point about choosing a variety. I’m so tired of seeing wardrobes where the bottoms are all just jeans. It would also be nice to see you with a variety of hairstyles. Fantastic video. You really aced this challenge.
Wow, I wish I had more time to find fashion challenges on TikTok (did I just say I wish I had more time for TikTok?) Loved this and the kitty video bomb was the crowning touch! :)
Great video - Its amazing how many outfits you got from 9 clothing items. I would love to see more of these type of videos please. Im going to be decluttering my wardrobe now, it just shows you don’t need more clothes, just get inventive with the styling.
Absolutely fantastic! Your outfits were all fabulous, Alyssa. I also think the key is choosing the right pieces. Your choice of bottoms and footwear made all the difference. You are the bomb 💣 Oh, and Apollo's walk through, priceless. He is so handsome 😍 Thank you ❤
This is amazing!! it blew my mind how many awesome outfits you could make from these pieces. I’d love to see you repeat the challenge with spring or summer clothes!
Always so classy & elegant, no matter what you're wearing... Thanks, Alyssa, for demonstrating the "333" in this video content. A great idea when packing carry-on only & creating stylish outfits, too. 😊
FANTASTIC! Going to Italy in May and hoping to do just what you did here, though with more of a spring wardrobe. Would love to see that version as well!
So great Alyssa! I am also going to Italy for a month in May and I already have my rail out working on outfit ideas. It's hard to pair down! We will be doing everything from volcanos to tennis tournament. I plan to rewatch this video several times and look into the 333 master class.
You are SO creative AND it shows if you curate a wardrobe of things you love, there are endless possibilities! I am working on only keeping/buying items that will help me do this, too. I have too much and am going to try this! Would love something similar for summer!
Thank you for inspo on styling the striped sweater/jumper as I have one I keep reaching for but the end up changing out of- I’ll try to incorporate it with different silhouettes and layering with coats this week ✨
That was FANTASTIC!! Wow. I did not think you could get that many outfits. I’m starting to determine what my pieces will be. Thank you; that was really fun.
This is brilliant! As are all of your styling/slow fashion videos! I especially gasped over the denim on denim with with the silver lug boots! All of these outfits were so cute, but that was my favorite! It’s giving vintage Tommy Hilfiger bombshell and there’s a bit of vintage Guess in there with the leather mini skirt. Bravo! 👏🏼🌟❤️
Could you also do a summer one for a trip to the beach. Not with swim suits. Love this video. Amazing you could come up with so many outfits. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.
I absolutely love the turtleneck with the skirt and those rad metallic boots❤❤!! What a great video, I'm surprised how many outfits you pulled together!! Very cool!
I love this sooo much! It's so much fun to play in your wardrobe like this! Officially need to recreate this video ❤ Thanks for all of the inspiration Alyssa!! You absolutely rocked all of these outfits and love how you chose different weights of fabric to really make this capsule go the extra mile!
What a great idea Alyssa! I am not on TikTok so have not heard of this challenge. And you're right, these styles are perfect for our milder Australian winters. Well, certainly in Adelaide. I was quite amazed at all the different combinations. I think the trick is to select the most versatile pieces for each category. Thanks for sharing! 🤗😘
the way you have me wanting to thrift a mini leather skirt…this was an amazing styling video I wish there was a still of all the outfits as a reference!
Perfect timing! I am leaving for a 6 week holiday soon. Challenged myself to only use a backpack so this is quite reassuring that a small amount of well chosen items will work beautifully. Well done!
Never tried this challege but you absolutely killed it. You are now causing me to rethink the my renovation project with the amount of closet space that I thought I needed. Maybe all I need is a nightable stand - lol.
I recently unfollowed many channels, as the predictability and repetitiveness, the same sponsors and items and lack of creative ideas became unbearable. Your channel stands out and is one of the last I still watch, you really bring inspiration, new ideas and change.❤
I'm stealing that belt over denim shirt idea :) Just thrifted a belt that will work great over an oversized thrifted denim shirt I got recently too. All outfits look great!
Thank you for all the ideas! We will be at a university next month with my son for an event and I want to be comfortable, warm, but still polished. This is perfect! Thank you 😊
I got really inspired! Maybe not for the whole challenge but you gave me some great ideas and although I have slightly different pieces you made me think of combinations I never would have tried! Now I'm prepared for some unexpected layering to get through the rest of winter! It is amazing how many combinations you get from only 9 pieces and a couple accessories!
Great video! ❤❤❤Your outfit combinations are so sharp! Looks like you had hundreds of different looks! I would love to see videos like this for each season , and work looks. Also a travel series would be great geared towards destinations and also a series when someone is just doing a relaxing type of vacation at a beach or mountain resort.
This was great! I always over pack when visiting the grand kids, well no more! This has lightened my travel bag forever! It includes enough variety to make it super easy. One shorter length bottom , a distinctive top, & since you’re wearing one pair of shoes - easy, peesy! ❤️🙏🏽
Oh I wish that simply being from the southern hemisphere meant I lived somewhere warm enough for these to be winter outfits. Still a good idea for spring/summer!! Our styles are different but seeing how you combined these clothes has still given me lots of inspo 💕
I'm going to London, Paris and Barcelona for a total of 15 days then I'm getting on a cruise ship in Barcelona for a total of 17 days. I think this 333 will help. Thank you for sharing. I just hope I can mix and match as well as you do. We will be there in October, I hope the weather is good.
Awesome, as usual! And super fun for me because I have several of those pieces from Sézane although, even if I didn’t, I’ve been watching you long enough to find great replacements in my closet :-) enjoyed it very much
LOVE these outfits!! For travelling, I take one skirt: a black silk midi-length slip skirt. It can be worn so many different ways, cinch it up w/ a belt to make it into a mini, and takes up NO room in my suitcase. ❤❤❤

I agree! 😊

I do remember the original 333 as well. It is very helpful and I learned a lot back then.
Yes! It was started by Janice at The Vivienne Files, wasn't it? Old school blogging, still happening. But this vid is good, too.

I knew it through Courtney Carver’s “Be More With Less”-- it was so popular online for so long!
Yes, Courtney Carver started the original 333 concept. Vivienne Files promoted the French capsule wardrobe.
Do it again, Alyssa! Seriously, i could watch this over and over again for different seasons or with different pieces. Brava!
I've really been enjoying these 333 challenges on Instagram, but the outfits flash by so quickly! Thanks for slowing it down and explaining your logic behind how you chose each piece.
Yes! Explaining the logic of your decision while showing the example is the best way for me to learn.
Loved this!! I'd also love to see a summer version 🎉

This is a great way to explain it, thank you!
Honestly impressed! I would've made 3 outfits and sat down lol. I'm going to Toronto soon and this is a great refresher for a travel capsule.
Everything you do looks so effortless and you are stunning in whatever you choose and combine. I wish I had your talent
Great looks! That was a master class on how the 333 challenge is done. The most important part of the challenge is choosing the pieces. Thanks 👍🏻.

travelling to korea in may, 3 weeks, one carry on. I already have everything hanging in my closet ready to pack.

Very creative and will work well in a Sydney winter🇦🇺. Just coming into autumn. I have to give this a go!
Thats an amazing amount of outfits from 6 pieces!
this is so pretty i want to get those exact pieces now & cultivate my look on thoses

WOW, how creative you are!
I do this for business trips. Makes packing so easy- I only use a carry on.
Brilliant way to learn how to use things in many different ways and find new outfits. Good for a small travel capsule!
I'm stealing that belt over denim shirt idea :) Just thrifted a belt that will work great over an oversized thrifted denim shirt I got recently too. All outfits look great!
OMG! I just jumped up and tried the belt over denim shirt with black skirt. I'm definitely gonna use that!
Bravo Alyssa👏🏾, this is one of my favourite videos ❤
Best video for travel capsule ❤ so creative
LOVE every outfit!!! Your lipstick looks gorgeous on you! 🩷
Great challenge. Going to try this myself to force some creativity. Please remind us to try this seasonally!
Great Alyssa, such abundance it showcases with limited numbers. Very thoughtful . Also u look great in any outfits. You could make for a great model .
Thank you for all the ideas! We will be at a university next month with my son for an event and I want to be comfortable, warm, but still polished. This is perfect! Thank you 😊

I love this! Trying this for the next 2 weeks - picked out my 333 and here we go!
Great inspo for my mild winters here in New Zealand. Love how you styled these outfits.
Loves the 3 tops layered in look #10!
This was great! I always over pack when visiting the grand kids, well no more! This has lightened my travel bag forever! It includes enough variety to make it super easy. One shorter length bottom , a distinctive top, & since you’re wearing one pair of shoes - easy, peesy! ❤️🙏🏽
Great video. I'm convinced that buying things with different silhouettes is what keeps a limited wardrob from seeming the same outfits.😊
The music in the portion where you show these awesome combos ... ❤
Awesome, as usual! And super fun for me because I have several of those pieces from Sézane although, even if I didn’t, I’ve been watching you long enough to find great replacements in my closet :-) enjoyed it very much
Loved it, thanks Alyssa! Would love to have you talking through the outfit as you're showing it!!
LOVE these outfits!! For travelling, I take one skirt: a black silk midi-length slip skirt. It can be worn so many different ways, cinch it up w/ a belt to make it into a mini, and takes up NO room in my suitcase. ❤❤❤
Loved every single outfit! I would wear any of those outfits! ❤
WOWZA!!! Major awesome 333 challenge!!! You are the BEST!!!
Your videos like this are my favorite. I’m sure they take forever to film, so I appreciate it!
May be I ll try it for the April trip but I will practice before such a creative vibe you have ❤
Loved these ideas, so useful to look at clothes differently. What do you use to protect your leather skirt from the grips of the coat hanger?
this was a great throwa back to your old videos. superb! i will use it for my upcoming travel!
Love all outfits 👌 you definitely nailed this challenge.
I've started to do the "button down as wrap around" thanks to you and OH MY GOSH it's so much better. Otherwise I feel too, well, buttoned up.
I‘m so amazed by that 😍 I want to have all pieces.
