If you were cooler 😅 you are so cool, Alyssa! And in a genuine way, not in an attention seeking way. You’re cool, in part, because you love what you do, know what you love, and are so knowledgeable and thoughtful. Someone to admire 💛 thank you for these lessons in styling, they are so helpful!
Exactly what I was going to say! 😍☺️if she were any cooler?! Well, idk if we could handle it!! 😂
ahhhhh you're too kind thank you for being here xoxo
ahhhh thank you xx@@karelmillard9854
This was helpful especially for me as a petite gal , 5'4" 115lbs. Scale and proper construction of stylish petite clothing is a challenge
I agree.
It’s so true when you’re petite it’s more of a challenge. 😊
i'm so glad it was helpful!
Try being 5'4" and 187 lbs; it's even harder to look nice.
I love how you explain why something works or why it doesn't and the little tweaks that make a difference. Really helpful, thank you.
I find this type of video and walkthrough so helpful because this is the most difficult thing for me when putting my outfits together! Would love if you did more of these! Thanks Alyssa 😊
Happy to do more of these!
I love this and try to apply….would love if you did this with like a size 14/16. Some I can convert, some I get stuck on!
Thank you for addressing those of us that don’t want to draw attention to our waists.
Love this body positive and size inclusive video on proportion. When others use proportion to highlight looking ‘slimmer’ or address ‘problem’ areas you have used it to educate and empower. Thank you!!!
This is such a great point 👍🏻
ahh i'm so glad you got it!!
This stuff is so important. You don't always think about it when you're shopping for clothes. Those big oversized shackets and lots of other oversized items are really having a moment, and they're tricky to wear when you're a small person.
You've got long legs and even so you work around the shortening effect of some silhouettes. Thanks Alyssa, great content.
Great point about thinking about proportions while shopping! x
I love seeing the before and after versions to really show how different small changes can make in your appearance.
Love this video! Great explanation and examples. I’m 5’4”. I have trouble with my blazers. I have several black “basic” blazers that Range from ending an inch below waist, to 6 inches below waist, to over sized that ends 14 inches below the waist. Which one to wear with the difference bottom has been a challenge. This video helps a little with the issue. Would love to see more about these blazers with different bottoms Thanks so much for your insights
Happy it helps!
I really felt the visuals worked really well in this video - it makes me realize that I need to play with my clothes more.
I just want to comment that your hair in this video is beautiful!
Thank you so much for such detailed information on proportions plus the other details which may seem small tweaks here and there but makes a whole lot difference in the outfit. Love from India ❤❤❤
My pleasure!! Happy styling!
I love the ease and simplicity you are teaching us about fashion. It is so understandable.Thank you.❤
I take this to heart - thank you!
@@AlyssaBeltempo And I mean it from heart.🥰
SAVED!!!! This one was particularly helpful for me, Alyssa. I was wearing the oversized sweater, bulky jeans and white sneakers yesterday and was thinking I don’t know why people say not to wear baggy jeans with chunkier sneakers, I think it looks pretty cute. And wore it anyway-and felt great in it all day. And now I know why. And I think these principles will come in extra handy for me going forward with my wardrobe….and trusting my instincts. THANK YOU!!
ahhh so glad you trusted your instincts - that is a huge part of it!
Great demo. Luv the coats with the boots explanations; especially with you modeling the different options. Those boots are great too 😊
Girl. This was AGGRESSIVELY FANTASTIC ❤. I was taking notes during shop your closet yesterday to request that you do a deeper dive into proportions discussion. And then this morning, boom. Thank you for seeing into the future and reading my mind. Lol. Kidding.
As a non-straight size wearer and petite-height person I feel like the vast majority of clothes secondhand, fast fashion or more sustainable are not made with the needs of my body in mind. I also almost exclusively wear flats. 🎉Because of and with the help of your channel and your considered, thoughtful, inclusive and wonderful work I have been able to learn to dress and expect differently from my clothes. Because of my specific needs, proportions might be where I put the most effort in. Please keep doing what you are doing. And please be so very proud of yourself today and every day. I appreciate it all more than you know ❤🎉😊
ahhhh MY PLEASURE! So glad you joined us yeseterday! xo
Proportions was always a problem. Your demonstration of Proportion is dead on 😊 Thank you Alyssa ❤
I'm so glad you found it helpful!! They are tricky! YAY! xx
Love those light-wash jeans. I just bought some in a similar silhouette. This really helped me a lot, because I haven't worn them much due to not knowing how to put them together with a "harmonious" top and footwear. And I love your print cropped jacket that you've had forever! Actually found all of this video very helpful. Thank you!
So glad you found it helpful! xx
Yep, we may have the pieces, but it's the putting it together to make the best.🎉🎉
This is wonderful. I think I will have to watch it 5 times. Lots to absorb. Thanks.
Thank you Alyssa, - I always look forward to your posting on Sundays, I take on your ideas and apply to my own clothes - I have a list of outfits that i add to, inspired by you. Proportion is for me one of those things that doesn't come naturally - I see it when you show an example but often I know when something is off on me, but don't know why. I am getting so much better at putting outfits together thanks to your videos.
Ahhh that is the best thing to hear thank you i take it to heart xx
Would love another one of these with skirts and dresses!
I really appreciate your knowledge and especially your approach that advocates for conscious, intelligent and fun exploration and discovery - such a strong contrast to a lot of bad advise one stumbles on elsewhere (e.g., "never use more than two colors at once" and similar BS). I enjoy your videos a lot and find them very inspiring. Thanks!
I love this! Conscious, intelligent and fun exploration is exactly why I watch Alyssa. No judgement just creativity and curiosity 💜
You are de-light-fully precise in your insights on 'styling', Alyssa 👌🙏
I really dug this more technical breakdown - as well as the honest truth of trial and error and the results which come from experimentation. Being curious is really valuable!
Those tips are awesome! Thank you beautiful Alyssa.
Thank you for watching!
I love looking a styles their silhouette and proportions. ❤ Not just their colors.
You are SO TALENTED at what you do!fantastic video as usual. Thanks so much
thank you for watching!
My favorite video you’ve ever made.
Friday I tried on 3 prs of midrise, straight-leg jeans at the consignment store. Two of them were slim to me around the hips and thighs; one pair fell slightly lower on my waist and was barely looser around the hips and thighs. To me, that pair looked better. Now I realize that was dependent on the shirt I wore to try them on, which was also slim against my body. Either way, I'm happy with the pair I bought and expect to use them a lot -- $14 was a good purchase!
a great purchase! And yes - the shirt makes a big difference!
This was actually so almost mathematically satisfying that I really enjoyed it, Alyssa. You broke down the Why's of different looks, and that's super helpful. Also: "Heft, heft, hefty, heft, hefty, heft, heft, heft." I lost count, but clearly a favorite word of yours. Bahaha. Love you!
Loved this video! So many new-to-me ways to look at proportions, thanks!
That was super interesting, thank you. Proportion is a weak area for me!
it's a tough one for sure!
Hi Alyssa ! A video just on sneakers would be nice ! Because I never know how to wear my not so colorful ones.
And workout clothes! ✌
I'd also love to see how she would style colorful, fun sneakers.
thank you for the suggestion!
Another vote on a sneaker video! My feet feel the best in New Balance sneakers and that's primarily what i wear. White, khaki, or black sneaks.
I really enjoyed this video!! Very informative and educational 🤓I would love to see more like this!
I would also love to see you style other types of body shapes and get tips and info on how to adjust proportions depending on what shape one is.
I've seen a lot of comments under this video coming from petite girls and women who seem to face challenges in finding how to style their clothes and find the right proportions.
I am not petite but being a mid-sized slight hourglass type of figure also comes with its set of challenges. Tucking in a t-shirt or a jumper/sweater at the front of the waistline doesn't seem to work for me: from the front it broadens my hips and from the side it enhances my stomach 😕
Oversized can also be tricky...
So general tips and ideas on how to adapt styles and silhouettes and zhuzh up an outfit depending on body shape would be greatly appreciated! ☺
Btw please don't feel that you're not cool. When you in your latest DITL video casually mentioned that you might go for an aperitivo with a friend at a nice hotel lounge it made so much sense because you're that kind of cool girl who does that 😎 Just as one example 😊 💜🌺
This is such a good video! Seeing the detail, thought process, and step-by-step little tweaks one after the other really provided a great opportunity to see what difference they make. A great guideline to do the same in our closets. Fantastic, thank you!!
Excellent Video. Great content and delivery
Loved the Master Class on proposition!❤❤
Hi Alyssa! I really enjoyed how you showed making small changes to an outfit can make such an impact! Practical video for me to improve the way I dress myself. Thank you for this very useful content! 😊
This was excellent, Alyssa. Proportions of outfits are always an issue for me at 5'1. I totally agree with the comments you made of the black jeans, they hit you in an odd spot as they shorten your legs visually but when you tucked them into your metalic boots your vertical line increased, at least to my eye. Gosh, are they your metallic flats you once tried to recolour silver? Did you end up getting them done professionally or continued to do yourself? I always loved those shoes 😊 Thank you for such an informative, professional master class in proportion ❤
I've been looking for a jeans with that style for a while - blue denim square front pockets with the stitched hem look. I found one with a raw hem, but I'd love one with a finished look
You know what. I think we are actually over tucking everthing in. SO over. It actually looks so fresh when you wear the wide leg jeans with the oversized sweater just as it is!! I love that look. Will start wearing all my knitwear like that from now on.
Same. I also love that look ❤
Lovvvvve this topic!!! Thank you for sharing, Alyssa ❤
Thank you for this video. I watch all your videos but this is the only one I’ve ever commented on.
I’ll be watching it again as there’s so much to learn from it…keep them coming!
So interesting how little changes completely change the feeling of an outfit
You are my style Guru ✨️ Thank you 💕
Great help! It's nice to see how these tweaks make an impact. Really like the black top at 8:55 - where did you get it? Very graceful and flattering on you.
LOVED this video, one of my favourites so far, the ideas of proportion is absolutely crazy how it can impact how we feel and look in the clothes we wear :)
Love your cropped jacket. 😊💕
Very helpful video. I’m basically a more mature petite version of Alyssa’s body type😊
Great lessons! I hope you'll continue with proportion videos, including tops and dresses or skirts. I'm always a fan of zzzhzzing(sp?). By that, I means the tweaks and adjustments you make. You have a master's eye for those. While I see your points on tucking pants into boots for a more dynamic look, I'm always going to be a fan of long, lean legs with the same color footwear, ideally with a pointed toe. From some of your earlier videos, I'll never get the capri or above-the-ankle pant look. You're the expert, but those are not for me. Thanks, as always, for sharing your great eye with us!
yes! I'll do dresses and skirts and different trouser shapes!
I love your videos! You're a great teacher. Would you consider dressing other figure types, Alyssa? Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Great idea to have different body shapes (models) that you would show how to hide problem areas
love this idea - need to work on it!
@@AlyssaBeltempo Wonderful!
always learning from you Alyssa thank you!
Loved this one! Super helpful!
This video was very helpful! Proportions are hard to navigate but you made them easier to understand with your demonstrations. It is amazing what a little tweak can do to the whole outfit. Thank you Alyssa!
Thank you for this video! You've taught me so so much through your videos!!!! Its really made it easier for me (a 5`2 woman) to try the oversized silhouette. If you are considering making more of these type of content, would you consider doing one on footwear too? I find footwear to be my undoing :(. I live in the warm and sunny Australia and can never seem to work out what to wear with my clothes.
Brilliant video. I sometimes struggle with an outfit, feel something is not right and can't put my finger on it. Now I understand so much better. Tks a lot!
Love your videos! I’m learning so much ❤
Love love love this video! So helpful to see the different looks❤👏🏽
Fantastic helpful tips ❤ love it
This is so incredibly helpful!!! I have struggled so much with similar looks and I had never thought about my shoes like that and how they could be throwing my whole outfit off! Thank you!
great video, Alyssa! thanks!
You briefly mentioned the haistyle and its impact on the look - could you maybe expand on that topic? :)
So good! Love the really educational vids, like this one!
Love. Thank you.
This was immensely helpful! I love that a lot of this is just common sense while leaving room for creativity and personal preference. Part 2 : yes!
Really love a nice balanced proportion that is easy on the eye. Thank you so much for all the helpful insights!💞
That was helpful! This will help me to tweak things a little more; awareness is everything for me. Thanks, Alyssa! Have a great week!
I really enjoy your content and this one was fab!! so informative and really just got me thinking about my own wardrobe and how I can change the way I wear what I already have. thanks Alyssa :)
Great tips!
So far this is my favorite video and topic you have done! So demonstrative, educational and helpful. Thank you!
This video was super helpful! I’m excited to try these tweaks with my outfits!
This was so helpful!
LOVED this Alyssa! It's a lesson for sure, and trial and error but you made it so clear. Would love to see more on this.
Thanks for this very interessting video! I have always problems to wear my chunky boots or sneakers with wide leg pants. I love both of these items, but together for me they do not work. This might be exactly a matter of proportions. So I wear my chunky footwear only with slim fit trousers (or skirts) and with wide leg pants I prefer more fitted footwear.
Great information!!! Thanks
Great and educational Video as always, Alyssa. THX, You're great ❤
This is such a helpful video Alyssa, I have learned so much and really enjoyed watching it. Thank you! 🙏 ❤
loved this vidéo! learned a lot! TKS!
You’re just awesome ❤. For just this short time in just explaining and demonstrating why, I will remember these pointers when standing in front of the mirror looking at how I styled my pieces.
I love the videos like these where you teach general principles
Excelente explicación. Gracias
This was one of the best styling video I have seen of late. Your advise was practical, realistic and insightful. Thank you so much for this high quality content.
That last black jacket - chefs kiss!
Very helpful!! Thanks
So helpful!
Great examples !
This is one of your best videos. It helped me very much with all kinds of outfits. Thank you!
This was the best ever!
Alyssa this was a fantastic, helpful video! I'm sending the link to several friends for sure. There was so much to learn in here that I'm planning on rewatching a few more times. Thank you!!!!!
wow thank you!
Alyssa, the hair, the make up, the outfit! ❤❤❤You look amazing!
Alyssa, thank you. This is brilliant. I was wowed by the difference it made when you put your hair up. 🙏
I could watch these all day! You put words to what my eyes know, but don’t translate with the articulation you bring for the table.
I enjoyed the video. Thank you.
Such a great video! But when you put on white shirt and then you exchange it with the very nice little oriental jacket it becomes so obvious how the last one suits you so much more, emphasizing you beautiful and bright personality.
Thank you very much, excellent video with information.
So helpful thank you 😊
Thank you! That tutorial made perfect sense proven by your demonstration with the garments. Columns and scale explained were brilliantly balanced. Thank you again.
Long ago the guideline was do not have half & half proportion top to bottom. You added to this basic concept. Thanks.
Very helpful❤️
