  • Last year (2016) I ate nothing but potatoes for the entire year. I did it to beat food addiction and lost over 53kgs (117 pounds) in the process. This year I’m putting the FIT into Spud Fit while following a whole foods plant based diet. My website is www.spudfit.com and I’m Spud Fit on all the social medias.

    Thank you, Andrew! It is very helpful to see what you eat. I am thinking about what to add to my main meal (potatoes) after I transition to more than only potatoes. I've been eating only potatoes for 8 weeks, now, because of your testimony. Best thing I ever did for my health: spiritually; mentally, emotionally and physically! Plus, I am no longer obsessing about the foods I am (WAS?) addicted to. I am free!
    You are truly blessed with a wonderful, supportive wife and a precious (and precocious) son. Cheers, mate!

    I also pulse up my broccoli in the food processor. It's so much to chew whole😂. I've been cutting things small ever since I watched chef AJ chop her salads with her special rounded blade...forgot what it's called. Great idea to carry carrots to snack on. Good luck with your new book. You are an inspiration. Thanks for continuing to share your journey.

    Oooh I'm gonna try that potato/broccoli/beans thing. Just found some organic baked beans in my local supermarket and LOVE potatoes so much. Here's my fave (I use a steamer) - boil potatoes in their skin (cut them up small), steam green beans over the top while these are cooking. At same time, fry up an onion & pepper in a pan (I have a special pan that doesn't need oil, but you can use a little oil if you like). Once cooked (15 mins) mix all together. I have a green salad with it. Yum!

    I do close to the same thing except I mix sweet potato and white potato. In the iPpot now I have green beans, carrots, white and sweet potato. When that's done I will toss in some beans and mash all that up together. I can't chew things very well until my partial gets fixed so right now everything's pretty much mashed. By the way, Andrew, do you find that you use your air fryer much? I'm on the fence about buying one.

    Your baked beans/broccoli/potato dish looks pretty good and easy to put together! I'd probably add a little curry powder or maybe some turmeric. The Imperial Mandarins look good too and must be in season now. Do they come from Queensland?

    Looks so yummy! If you don't mind me asking, because I've never done whole potatoes in the pressure cooker...do you put any water in? How long do you cook them? High Pressure? And, do you let the steam release naturally or do you release it manually when the time is up? I'd love to know how to cook whole potatoes in there. Thanks so much for your help! I'd love to try that potato/broccoli/bean dish. So simple, but looks so delicious!

    Andrew, I have a question.. do the baked beans you use have sugar? The baked beans here seems to be very sweet... (I bought your book)!! :)

    • @SpudFit

      they have a very small amount of organic sugar, they don't taste sweet.

    Another quest for you...you said here one thing you learnt wS to not worry indiv nutrients....ive been eating no added fat whole food plant based for 8 months now...great results etc. .but at my 6 month check the other day my dr said my vit d waS low..35...and im osteopenic...so shes pushing a drug of course .well 2..vit d and some drug to get calcium from my blood...i will try and get dr mcdougall or dr esselstyn but wondered how YOU went for vit d levels ..calcium etc on potatoes?...bc i use the Cronometer...(do you use that?)...& i have to eat absolutely STACKS o c kale a day...like 6 handfuls to get my calcium...were you told you were low on any of these and what did you do...thxgeorganne x

    • @SpudFit
      @SpudFit  6 років тому +2

      our bodies make vitamin D when we get sunlight on our skin, get plenty of sun and you'll be fine. My calcium was fine on only potatoes. Best to see what's actually going on in your bones, My DEXA scans showed my bone density went slightly up despite the relatively low calcium intake. Blood tests can't show everything and cronometer.

      Spud Fit salt (sodium) is actually one of the most needed nutrients to humans! i assume that we get plenty from a whole foods plant based diet, because plants naturally contain sodium!

    Your forgetting some of your previous rules.. You used to say: don't count calories and don't worry about wieghtloss, only make sure your food is highest quality.. Canned beans is lowest quality food, and microwaved food is also debatable, and no longer alive.. You also used to say, what you choose not to eat is even more important than what you do eat.. meaning that you should try your best not to eat anything canned or processed..Anyway, I'm not judging you, I'm just reminding you of your previous rules..

    • @SpudFit
      @SpudFit  6 років тому +4

      There's nothing wrong with canned beans and nothing wrong with microwaves either as far as I can tell. I haven't seen any science to prove that microwaves are bad. Those rules haven't changed for me.
