When You're Boatless and Still want to fish | Fishing with Rod

- I've been boatless this spring while waiting for my new Toyota Tacoma, so I decided to go fishing on a floating dock at a lake near Merritt BC with my buddy Dave. Many lakes around Merritt and Kamloops now have floating docks where you can easily catch trout from. It took awhile for us to find them but we found them in the end!

Rod, could you PLEASE start adding the name of the lakes you visit? We are not psychics lol
great video as always Rod. But watching you peel that banana from the butt was painful haha
I don't usually peel a banana like a monster, did that one on purpose in the video. 😆
What are shiners that you're talking about at the beginning of the video?
They are redside shiners, a freshwater minnow species native in the Pacific Northwest.
BC certainly manages fishing opportunity well. I'm envious of all the opportunity that you have in BC. Do you have some days when you get. skunked that you don't show us? Keep these videos coming. We do have a lot of opportunities to fish for a variety fish species here on the Oregon Coast, but they are not as convenient as are many of your lake access sites.
Dave 🥵🥵🥵🥵 new cohost material
I mean you're not wrong. Rodney and I were just talking about that..... #lindasdaysarenumbered
what is your float setup? Could you please share
I have a video on the setup at: ua-cam.com/video/-W_6AXSJk4c/v-deo.html
Excellent timing. This weekend I'm fishing from a floating dock, totally foreign to me.
Thanks Rod ❤
I always fish without a boat! Once i fished in the ocean and caught a Puffer! I was young and was horrified, when told it would probably die from fright! Last time fishing by boat! Lol
Good one Rod.As a visitor I’ve greatly appreciated using floating docks, especially around Kamloops and the Okanagen. Carol from a Sydney, Australia.
What brand is the spinning outfit you are using? And what's the length and sction on it?
Action?
Those spinning rods are the new G.Loomis GCX, 6’ and 7’ long, rated 2-6lb.
That looks like a blast! Wish we had some good dock fishing around Lillooet.
One of my favourite spots to fish. Been going there for years.
Another amazing video rod!
🔥
I see that there is a nice new floating dock at Lundbom. Great initiative to help access to folks without boat. The tricky bit is figuring out the depth you are fishing from a dock, if you do not have one of those castable sounders.
Actually I have a video coming out explaining how to set up that float depth from the floating dock! 😃
@FishingwithRod I hope it's moe practical than my approach which is to tie a 1 oz lead weight with rubber tube to my chironomid and then strip off an appropriate amount of fly line and then throw the weight out as far as I can to see if the bobber goes down. Then rinse and repeat. LOL.
What is that green fly reel Rodney? I want it hahaha
That's an Islander LX3.4. The green ones are not that common as they only produce those every now and then. If you look on FB Marketplace they may pop up every now and then.
@@FishingwithRod love it
What lake?
