Fantastic Robert! A few years ago I had a week in Northern Iceland and had a 5kg brown trout and a 4kg sea run arctic char. The best fish of my life, in the shadow of a volcano beached on the black sand.
Beautiful trout in a pristine environment. Those fish are so healthy and wild. That is what fly-fishing for trout is all about. I hope you all keep making films.
Fantastic! We really like to see more Icelandflyfishing 😊we had 4 days last year - incredible 🎉and we‘ll be back! Thank you for your fantastic videos Robert! Best regards Henryk
What a stunning place to fish! Some lovely specimens to the net as well. Looking forward to following your new venture. Tight lines and thanks for sharing such “epicness”.
Great video, thanks for posting! I was fortunate enough to fish in Iceland last year with my three sons (one of their first times fly fishing) and while we weren’t as remote as this, the land and fish were beautiful, and the people kind and fun. I hope I can go back again
Wow! Can’t believe that was on an #18. If you caught it on a #20, that would be in the 20:20 Club. I think this is what heaven must be like for sight fishermen…here and NZ! Great job!
See you soon m8. Enjoy and have fun helping others to catch their dream fish. OH....and just wait for the howling winds. And one more..... in the hight of summer, get ready to run because size 16 will be a big fly.
Fished with Fish Partners last summer and was very pleased. Nymphing for char was great fun. Our guide was personable and knowledgable, so much so that we're hoping he'll guide us for sea trout at the Battle Hill Lodge this September. Eidur is also very easy to work with in arranging trips; highly recommend them if you want a well managed and successful fishing trip!
Hey Robert, great stuff ! It is really a great opportunity for you to be there ! I have traveled to Iceland twice for only normal tourism, it was epic. I hear that there are some guys developping sea trout fishing in the rivers in the south west if I remember correctly. There's a youtube video about it somewhere. I hope to pick up a lot of useful fishing tips from you in Iceland.
Thanks! I think it is something I do when filming. I'm not sure haha. I believe it is my way of applying more pressure and still having the rod in view
Such fabulous video! I agree with other posters who think the music is unnecessary or at least should be toned way down in quantity. But it is certainly not a “production issue” the quality of everything is great. Just think about experimenting with more nature sound and less manufactured audio. Cheers!
Hey Robert! Have you visited the Hrauneyar Hotel nearby? I was working there last year, met the guides from Fishpartner and the video of Your awoken many cool emotions! so good to see You fish there! It's amazing right? Real dream come true scenery for fishing salmonids!
I wish I had that much backcasting room where I fish. There are places in Colorado west of the Continental Divide that have moonscape similar to Iceland. I liked the music just fine….but then again I am an Audiophile!
I want to see you fish huge brown trout in Laxá in Laxárdalur in Norther Iceland, together with the Caddis brothers Hrafn Ágústsson and Ólafur Ágúst Haraldsson. Trust me, it will be an unforgettable experience.
The setup is specified in the video description. I did not want to make this video about more than my experience in seeing the place. Gear videos will come. Thank you for the feedback. I appreciate it. They are not sea run.
Hey Robert, I have a question about sea trout fishing in a lake. The lake is located in Norway and is connected to the sea by a small stream, with a significant summer sea trout run. My question is which flies you would use for sea trout in a lake? The lake has a population of sticklebacks and brown trout. The local anglers mainly fish there with worms and spinners. Should I still use a sandeel fly or shrimp fly, or even a nymph, or other streamers?
There are similar lakes on Iceland too. I would probably start with a baitfish fly the size of a stickleback. It use to be effective in many places for trout and can hopefully be something they eat.
I could never fish with a guide since if i dont do the whole sequence myself from finding it to landing it the fish will be worthless to me. I do see why some people want the help froma guide tho.
I agree with you but I if if wasn’t that expensive, I would get a guide for example the first two days of a 10 days trip. Because in a new country where you never fished you really don’t wanna waste time. I was in NZ at 17yo and of course didn’t have 500$ for a day guide so I studied books, used hydro maps and satellite images and kinda found my self some spots. I really nailed a couple but also for others we were a bit lost. A guide can really maximise your time on the water.
@@enricobregni7025 ofcourse but i have been fishing for 50 years this year and i normally fish about 250 days pr year since i dont have to work so i take pride in my catch and odds are i am as good as or better than the guide on my own.Reading rivers is actually really easy with that much experience so i dont really see the problem. I know i know lol i am a bit cocky but do you know anyone with more experience than me?
I suspected that you were using a drone to spot fish and then you conceded that this was a strategy. Big dislike for such c*nty behaviour. II'm out of here, and will hopefully find a cool video made by a genuine fisherman.
Awesome video! What an epic adventure
Spectacular. A little less music, and a bit more silence - or just nature - would make this vid even more enjoyable to watch. Thanks.
Thanks
I like the music. Good job as usual Robert.

12:09 Wow, from Japan! Gorgeous brown trout! He looks like a resident trout, but I wonder if he has something to eat in the river.
Yes. It is resident. Lots of insects and small fish to eat.
That first fish was gorgeous
So pretty!

Awesome vodeo Robert, really cool and "livescore 2.0" really cracked me up, good fun😂 and it got you an amazing shot of the eat🙌
Glad you like the video 😁👍
Damn, I am so, so happy for you two! ... and almost as jealous as happy. :D
Amazing filming and editing too!!
Tight lines!

Thank you Moritz!
Gorgeous!
Nice! Wishing u a blast
Robert amazing film! Just be careful you very often grab the blank during the fight.
Thanks! I think it is something I do when filming. I'm not sure haha. I believe it is my way of applying more pressure and still having the rod in view
there you are! Ciao Robert nice to see you, Guido
Kör 10 årsjubileum på Island till sommaren. Så mycket fina vatten och fiskar! Bra film! Ser också gärna mer om riggning vid nymph fisket.
Tack! Det ska jag göra!

Awesome river💪🎣🤘
It is fantastic
I guess I need to come to Iceland😂

Det ska jag verkligen göra en video på hur vi gör här. Kul att höra!
I agree totally. Cut the music.
Small Hook Big Fish!
Great video!!!
I hope you don't mind me asking.
I would like to know which gear you are using ? 🤔
Hello. Glad you liked it. You find that info in the video description 😉
don't forget to talk about the equipment, rod, line, leader, tippet, etc. and flies. also, are these sea run trout?
The setup is specified in the video description. I did not want to make this video about more than my experience in seeing the place. Gear videos will come.
Thank you for the feedback. I appreciate it.
They are not sea run.
Music overpowering it. Watched 4 mins only. Shame.
Great video! What is the prime time for this char fishing?
June-July
Just came back from Iceland, saw a lot of waterfall and streams , and rods on the hood running SUVs. But no chance for fishing ~~~~😭
I’m sorry my friend. Hopefully next time
I want to see two handed action 😍
I can do that later this season. Maybe can do a pure two-hander video for sea trout 👍

What rods and reels were you using?

are you stupid - he even mentions it in the video ! god - people are so lazy...

That’s similar to how your comment is totally worthless to the discussion of this video.
@@flyguy2021 is there a guide in the video???? I rest my case mr Brainiac...
@@MrKveite1 actually I think they were both guides
