Wario Land deserves more love! It made me happy to not only see this game return on NSO, it's also the _first_ Game Boy game they added to the service!
I feel wario's Sprite in this game had more three dimensional detail to it. Then it did in the second game. Because you know, all the sprites you see in this game are the same from the second, only given more detail. When wario is on fire for example, it looks more realistic.
It's funny how Wario tried to usurp Mario from his castle in Mario Land 2 and Mario got his castle back, but Wario wound up taking the Mario Land series.
Wonderful Memories return....and I've did a walkthrough of this one too. Funny thing; I actually got a Demo cartridge...meaning it didn't save my progress even after turning it on. It would've been perfect for your style of longplay.
I Have the 3DS VC version, the GBC Version, and the NS Version. Still struggling on both the 3DS and GBC Version. Haven’t played the NS version because I didn’t find any point in it since I had the 3DS Version.

Being a child of the 90s these older GBC versions spread so much more joy upon me when binge-playing them over and over :D I personally never liked the GBA nor Shake it-version, I found the GB/C games more atmospheric, it's just my personal opinion tho. Thanks for sharing this with us

Whereas Land 4 & Shake It focus too much on fast paste action & linear path with little exploration, puzzles & rewards. Not that there's anything bad about it. I just prefer the way Land 2 & Land 3 handles there style of gameplay.

As a kid I’d only played the first Wario Land 1 and 4. Returning to play 2 and 3 years later felt like such a downgrade that I couldn’t stand playing them, and even today I have trouble appreciating them for what they are because they feel so inferior. The 4th game is just such a masterpiece that perfected what 2 + 3 started, that going back to those games just feels so slow and awkward and aimless by comparison.

I didn't even grow up with this game but I played through it a few years ago and think it's one of the best GBC games.
