Head Cannon: The gross Wario is just the character he plays for the games. Wario is actually a super nice dude, that's why he has so many good games an cameos, everyone just wants to hang out with him and give him good adventures.
They seem to hint at that in Wario Ware Gold, and Get it Together also shows that everyone in the main cast really likes being in his company, despite his faults. It honestly shows a true strength in Wario's character and I'm here for it.
@@commendedzuez0944 The issue is that the devs for Smash Bros and Mario Sport spinoffs rely on Gross and Wafting Wario. Despite never being that way for the Land games.
@@rayminishi689 I don't think the Mario spin-offs do that much with the exception of Mario & Sonic but I blame that on Sega. The Mario spin-offs usually just make Wario feel like the fall guy in a comedy duo with Waluigi which kinda sucks imo. At least he's still portrayed as very strong in those spin-offs and do WL references occasionally.
According to the Enclosed Instruction Manual and some insider lore, the knock off Mr Game&Watch guy is actually the black cat. When you enter the hallway toward the Boss, very occasionally do you see the black cat go into the store and just vanish. And if you beat the game with at least 90% of the treasure, well... The ending says it all.
Also I remember that if you go fight the Golden Diva after you purchase an attack, once the Game & Watch person is done, it turns into the black cat, and proceeds to attack her, which leads to the Golden Diva to capture her and start the battle Also the Golden Diva’s ghost faces match the current mask she’s wearing, so you can change them by attacking her prior to the fight
The Wario Land series is so under appreciated and underrated it’s not even funny.. I seriously wish Nintendo would release a Wario Land compilation for the Switch (with Wario Land 1,2,3,4, and Shake It) as well as a brand new Wario Land game
Wario Land 4's length really comes from playing through Hard/Very Hard, it moves the collectables around and makes you really want those boss fight items.
Wario Land shake it is definitely the best looking 2d Nintendo game out there , and I really wish they attempted that awesome hand drawn look for their games again.
Agreed. I'm kinda sick of Nintendo releasing 2.5D entries for their franchises, especially ones that still haven't had an actual 3D entry (* cough* Kirby and Yoshi * cough*).
The opening cutscene in wario land shake it is what makes me want to see a new Nintendo cartoon. Like a random show with segments featuring different franchises.
Wario Land is *the* reason I'm such a Wario fanboy. Glad to see someone giving it more respect. Not that I don't love Warioware, but there's way more to Wario than just that and you showed it off.
Tbf, at least they gave the borders a purpose, which was to keep track on your treasures and missions, unlike Mario Party 8, where they were just there to fill space, and they looked ugly
"What? Nintendo made a dumb decision that actively encouraged emulation, even though they could've prevented it? Wow, that's crazy." This man is hitting the hard truths!
Such a goat series, would love another new game in the series or atleast a port collection. Games like Shake it and 4 are some of my fav 2D platformers from Nintendo
Genuinely my favorite platformer series of all time, Wario is such a charismatic character in anything and everything he's in, and it warms my heart to see him implicated in such a high number of fantastic video games. He's even the face of amazing party games to boot! Everyone, buy WarioWare Get It Together so we might one day see another Wario platformer. A man can only dream.
Those items that take health away from the bosses in Wario Land 4 don't really matter that much on Normal or Hard mode, but they certainly do on Super Hard. It's pretty cool how all of the difficulties change the item and enemy placements to the point that Super Hard pretty much demands full level knowledge. No surprise that it is only unlocked after beating the Hard mode.
Wario Land 3 was one of my favorite games for road trips as a kid. Surreal is definitely the best word to describe the series. I honestly didn't know wario land shake it existed but god damn the game looks incredible, one of the best wii games ive ever seen tbh.
I grew up with wario land 3, still love the game and replay it from time to time. Always loved that Wario was more than just "evil mario" and was actually more of an anti hero. Though as a kid I always thought that he can't be beat by bad-guys cause he is himself a bad guy. Kinda in a logic like only invisible people can see invisible people. ^^;
Honestly next to the likes of donkey kong, wario is one of my favorite characters in all of Nintendo's history. The fact that they were allowed to get away with so much with the character is amazing. Oh, and apparently there's a secret to that pause menu in wario land. If you let it sit for a long long time, apparently wario somewhere says sorry. It's weird!
wario land series is really a masterpiece, nostalgia or not. Sometimes during the years i come back to replay WL3, my favouritebetween them. I can't find anything similar to that game nowadays
The funniest thing, which I personally LOVE, about Wario is that he is not a real "hero", unlike Mario, but is considered such because in his selfishness and desire for wealth, he ends up doing good deeds simply by accident (just like how we see in Wario Land 4 or also Shake It), and that's something I find hilarious about Wario's character.
Nintendo really needs to bring back Wario Land honestly I find it one of their best Platformer‘s and since I’m getting into the series I really hope they make a new one this series deserves way more respect
wario land makes me so nostalgic. it scared me but i think its aesthetics have always stuck with me. it tried to do something little different with the game play in a sea of platformers and i think i love it for that.
You know what I'd love to see? A fusion of the Wario Land and Warioware Series. A 2D metroidvainia platformer with Diamond City as the main hub where you explore the world to rescue the Warioware crew and use their respective abilities both in combat AND to open up new areas around the world? That would be INCREDIBLE.
We all agree that Wario Land should get a comeback but I personally feel that Nintendo doesn’t do enough with the Mario franchise as a whole. Imagine a Wario Land game that had Waluigi, Mona, and Jimmy T. join in on the fun.
the mr g&w looking guy is actually princess shokora herself, you can see the cat (who is also her) transform into the shopkeeper if you get any items before the final boss.
This is a great idea on its own but becomes even better when you realize that if that became the Luigi Centric series, that frees up Next Level Games to do another Punch-Out.

22:53 The Japanese for “frog” is a homophone for “return”, so you can carry a frog trinket in your wallet for wealth to return to you, or to help you return safely from a journey. They also sell coin purses shaped like frogs; you put coins into their mouths.
What I find most upset or disappointed about the lack of this franchise awareness is not only that there hasn’t been a new one since Wario Land Shake It on the Wii, but that this franchise could have been a more better inspiration for Wario in Smash. Brawl, the 4th one, and Ultimate, Wario could have gotten a moveset based on his fighting moves in the Wario Land series, even Wario World or Master of Disguise even. And while I'm still at about Wario in Smash, since Wario’s final smash “Wario Man” is no longer just a power up anymore and instead just Wario Man doing a quick cinematic finishing move without the player having to do anything else, Wario’s final smash could maybe have him taking all 7-8 disguises from “Wario Master of Disguise” while finishing off the character(s) in a cinematic style, similar to his official latest final smash. And maybe we could've also have Captain Syrup as a newcomer for ultimate to add another to the "Mario-universe arch-nemeses" (Mario vs. Bowser, Yoshi vs. Bowser Jr., Donkey Kong vs. King K. Roll, and Wario vs. Captain Syrup). That’s just my opinion.
10:30 The blunt "Dude, Mario sucks!" after watching Mario knick the Peach Statue for himself and Wario just shrugs like *oh well* always makes me laugh.
There are few games that I might ever play more than once in the span of a year or two, but Wario Land 4 is one of those games that I will always keep coming back to for the amount of charm it has, Wario truly showed us the meaning of fun.
If you’re new to the series, don’t miss out on Wario Land 4. I don’t think Shake It is that similar, because it’s missing the transformations that make 2, 3, and 4 the magical puzzle-platformers they are.
Just a correction on the "Game & Watch looking dude", that is actually the black cat you see throughout the game, which in turn is Princess Shokora. She is actively helping you throughout the game, which I think is a really neat touch and puts her up there as my third favorite Wario character, after Captain Syrup and Wario himself. My fourth favorite is 5-Volt because I have a thing for cartoon moms and feel no shame.
One thing I’ve learned is GoodFeel are really good at adapting conventionally non video game art styles into lively, one of a kind styles for games with relatively standard styles in the past. The style is one of the reasons why I love Kirby’s Epic Yarn so much.
Whoever does these thumbnails is really awesome BTW. They're always so recognizable, and equal parts funny, cute and interesting. Just really does its job!! ❤️
wario land gives me so much nostalgia... my uncle owns a gameboy and the game and just listening to the theme makes me feel like a kid again. my older brother and i played it all the time, when we visited him.
1:44 barely on topic but my god those outfits. Wario is dressed like an evil cowboy from some anime and Waluigi looks like the greatest evil of all: a banker. Immaculate.
I genuinely love wario master of disguise, the story is charming and the characters are all interesting and pretty diverse personality wise. Def don’t do it all in one sitting though the mini games stink. I do take issue with your take that it looks ugly, the pixel art is lovely! What are you taking about. All the backgrounds look unique with detail you just didn’t get from other ds platformers. I recently revisited this game on the Wii U virtual console and had a blast playing it through.
This gem of a game introduced what may possibly be the first instance of a character consciously dabbing in a video game 😌 Ok jesting aside (yes he really does dab, multiple times), I consider this game to be the true sequel to Wario Land 4, even though The Shake Dimension is meant to fill that role. The only thing I see wrong with it is that it's probably too long for the average player. This is a very long game, but they made sure to stuff the game with as much fun as possible. 100%ing this game is a difficult endeavour 😆
@@rendumguy7596 I didn't say it *is* the sequel, I said I consider it to be. It has those captivating vibes, a wider sense of exploration compared to The Shake Dimension, it has the weird and wonderful collectibles with an added layer of humour with the descriptions of each treasure. It's also a 2D platformer that has Wario transforming into different 'guises' (a step up from Wario Land 4 where they're more like debuff transformations used to solve puzzles). The Shake Dimension is fun, but it feels a little lacking somehow. I love it as a game, it was a lot of fun but it didn't feel like a sequel to Wario Land 4, it felt like a sideline game? Of course this is all just my opinion
I’ve always said that I really, really want them to mesh both Warioware and Wario Land into a one off game. It could work like Wario’s company gets stolen, and his friends get kidnapped. So, he works to free his friends, and they each can be used as characters with unique platforming and combat techniques. And they all work together to save his company.
Cool but not very in character imo. Wario isn't a knight in shining armor, going out if his way to save his friends with no selfish motive behind it. Also don't see how'd it he a Wario Land if it isn't like Wario Land. Might as well make it another Ware spin-off if it's using Ware in everyway and nothing Land.
Wario Land 3 is an absolute treasure of a video game and it's such a damn shame that practically no one has heard of it. Hopefully Nintendo brings Gameboy, Gameboy Color, and Gameboy Advance to Nintendo Switch Online eventually.
The first Wario land game, have a special place in my heart ! It was a great game, I remember all the guys who owned a gameboy back then, got together and played that game.
Wario is a really fascinating character to me, I actually got to play Wario 1 through 4 on the delta emulator app but I haven’t actually finished them yet, I’m near the end of 2,3 and 4 however so far, and it was pretty great! The bosses are kinda difficult imo, and I HATE the golf mini game in Wario land 3 but other than that and a few tedious moments, they are solid games so far!

OR WISHSTONE??? Best song evee
Exactly this! I agreed with most of the video but the music from Master of Disguise can be reaaaally cool.
It's because Wario's a down to earth type of dude apparently. The Shake-It developers said he's the type of guy you'd like to have a drink with.
Well, that makes sense
According to the Enclosed Instruction Manual and some insider lore, the knock off Mr Game&Watch guy is actually the black cat. When you enter the hallway toward the Boss, very occasionally do you see the black cat go into the store and just vanish. And if you beat the game with at least 90% of the treasure, well... The ending says it all.
Also I remember that if you go fight the Golden Diva after you purchase an attack, once the Game & Watch person is done, it turns into the black cat, and proceeds to attack her, which leads to the Golden Diva to capture her and start the battle
Also the Golden Diva’s ghost faces match the current mask she’s wearing, so you can change them by attacking her prior to the fight
Wario: Master of Disguise has a really good soundtrack for some reason. No, seriously, listen to it, it's really good, especially the boss themes.
Carpaccio's theme is completely one of the best themes in Wario: Master of Disguise
Absolutely loved this game and the soundtrack was a big part of it lol
The Wario Land series is so under appreciated and underrated it’s not even funny.. I seriously wish Nintendo would release a Wario Land compilation for the Switch (with Wario Land 1,2,3,4, and Shake It) as well as a brand new Wario Land game
Well the Wario land is not under appreciated or underrated, Nintendo just prefer make a Wario ware game because it's just a casual game
Also Wario World
Nintendo doesn't want competition with Mario bros for the platformer department
Wario Land 4's length really comes from playing through Hard/Very Hard, it moves the collectables around and makes you really want those boss fight items.
Wario Land shake it is definitely the best looking 2d Nintendo game out there , and I really wish they attempted that awesome hand drawn look for their games again.
Wario land shake it is such an underrated game.
@@cypher838 Unfortunately, the controls for Shake It make my arms stiff.

“I have a bottomless coin sack” is the sort of line I imagine Wario using in a bar.

WL 4 was my first Wario game, but I've been going back to the older ones to relive the wacky fun. Underrated series for sure.
It's absolutely unreal how good Shake It looks visually. Other than the lame letterboxing, that has to be one of the prettiest games on the Wii.
Tbf, at least they gave the borders a purpose, which was to keep track on your treasures and missions, unlike Mario Party 8, where they were just there to fill space, and they looked ugly

All the Wario Land manuals are like that, written from Wario's point of view.
I miss game manuals. :(
I love that Wario admits that his eyesight is bad in the very same manual. Because of course my man would need glasses but wouldn't wear them.
@@Medahlian Aw yeah, HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE!

I honestly didn't know wario land shake it existed but god damn the game looks incredible, one of the best wii games ive ever seen tbh.

yes
And the WarioWare cast would be there
Yes we are long over dued but needs to have Waluigi

Yeah absolutely!
I grew up with wario land 3, still love the game and replay it from time to time. Always loved that Wario was more than just "evil mario" and was actually more of an anti hero. Though as a kid I always thought that he can't be beat by bad-guys cause he is himself a bad guy. Kinda in a logic like only invisible people can see invisible people. ^^;
That actually makes a lot of sense!
Honestly as a kid I always thought the same about the bad guy vs bad guy being the reason for the invincibility too
@@monkeyman767 glad to hear I was not alone with that XD
It was the first portable game I owned. So seeing it drop on Nintendo's Game Boy app awakened so much in me.
3 counts too
Nintendo really needs to bring back Wario Land honestly I find it one of their best Platformer‘s and since I’m getting into the series I really hope they make a new one this series deserves way more respect

Count Cannoli's theme is a banger and a half
Master Of Disguise’s soundtrack is the only good thing about the game.
YES, MoD's OST is top tier stuff
The Wario Land games are so random! I love them! Great video
wario land makes me so nostalgic. it scared me but i think its aesthetics have always stuck with me. it tried to do something little different with the game play in a sea of platformers and i think i love it for that.
That would be cool.
Holy shit, the bucket at 2:34 is referenced in Bowser’s Inside Story! That’s actually awesome
Junker…

We all agree that Wario Land should get a comeback but I personally feel that Nintendo doesn’t do enough with the Mario franchise as a whole. Imagine a Wario Land game that had Waluigi, Mona, and Jimmy T. join in on the fun.
That’s the thing despite being wario’s partner waluigi has never made an appearance in the warioware or land series
@@millerkarageanes1562 I always had an idea of Waluigi becoming the antagonist of that game
Also more 3D Wario Land, which is Wario World.
I don't know why he is so confused about Wario breathing in space, Every character in the Mario series can breath in space (Mario Galaxy) 11:19

Wario Master of disguise had a great soundtrack and fun new characters. I like the idea of Count Cannoli.
We haven’t gotten a Wario Land in forever, so I elect that Luigi takes over the “Land” series of games and we return to Sarasaland.

Yoshi doesn't battle Jr. though.

Incredible to see a shoutout to Pizza Tower in a 2021 video. Also, im playing wario land 2 and it's GOAT
Wario Land 3 is one of my favorite platformers of all time. This series definitely needs a revival.
If you’re new to the series, don’t miss out on Wario Land 4. I don’t think Shake It is that similar, because it’s missing the transformations that make 2, 3, and 4 the magical puzzle-platformers they are.
Shake It does have transformations (fire and snowball), they're just catered to certain levels.
Warioland 2 and 4 were amazing underrated games. I remember renting these at blockbuster great times
The style is one of the reasons why I love Kirby’s Epic Yarn so much.

from what i saw in the video, i think it looks fine. i like the other wario lands art more i think but it doesnt look ugly
This gem of a game introduced what may possibly be the first instance of a character consciously dabbing in a video game 😌
Ok jesting aside (yes he really does dab, multiple times), I consider this game to be the true sequel to Wario Land 4, even though The Shake Dimension is meant to fill that role.
I dunno man, I gotta agree, Master of Disguise looks extremely ugly to me too, lol

Uh...actually, in the SNES version of Wario's Woods...that actually IS Wanda.
Nintendo, hire this Mark. He knows what's up.
This is kind of what Warioware Get it Together is, but I would love to see a more Wario Land focused version of this idea!
So WarioWare: Get It Together! as a platformer....I can dig that.

Wario is a really fascinating character to me, I actually got to play Wario 1 through 4 on the delta emulator app but I haven’t actually finished them yet, I’m near the end of 2,3 and 4 however so far, and it was pretty great!
