Looking better and better all the time
yes and getting very close to some paint on this bird.
Another great video Jon! You are a true craftsman, great attention to detail. RIP Mr Brick . Have a great weekend.
Sad day we lost mr brick fortunately he has a lot of brothers.
looking great Jon. Great tips for the body line tape. Thanks for sharing.
Glad to help.
Really going to be a sweet car.
I think so too. really coming out nice.
Looks pretty nice to me John!!👍🏽
i am very pleased with the results should make for a great foundation for a clean paint job
Looking awesome. I get to catch up with your videos about once a week and it just makes me miss my bird more. Keep up the great work and i cant wait to see more.
Once in your new place and settled you will be back to work on your bird.
RIP Brick.🙏
sad sad day indeed 🙁👍
you should put the "H.O" stripe down the sides. Super badass.
I am in, just need to talk the owner into spending a few more bucks on them.
I think you need more orange Mountain Dew 😊
lol well you could always send me more 😁
Great vids. I’m about ready to prime and sand my 69 and I’m a first timer. Appreciate the detail.
nice! 1969 birds are my favorite. excellent choice for a first timer.
Looks like a straight body after the block party! I can host a block party, for the 71 GT-37! Lol....
I am in as long as I don’t have to do it all. 😎
How about a video on the Pontiac GTO behind this car. Show us the flaws in that paint job and what you learned. I think you said it was painted 7 years ago. Thanks! I learn so much on your channel!
Excellent idea!!! and it was about 16 years ago I painted that car, but it does have value for durability understanding and what did and did not work. Difference in blocking technique and so on. Man the gears are turnin in the head. Where’s is my orange Mountain Dew 😎
Getting so close to color Jon. Think I'll have to try some of that OMD for it's possible motivation properties.
hey that OMD is all mine. insert evil laugh 😂. anyway it helps me so go for it!
Almost there! But this is the most important part before it's sprayed... Looks great John!!!
yes it is, and worth the effort. probably going to be one of the cleanest 350 birds out there
WoW buddy that bird is going to look even better then new believe me I know the work it takes to get to this point you should feel very proud of yourself amazing job 👏
thank you friend, I have so many hours wrapped up into just block sanding almost as many as I do the metal work. you and I know it will make or break a paint job so worth every minute.
Looks like a pretty big gap between the a pillar and door / fender
It does look bad but that is normal. The lower windshield chrome trim covers that area up fortunately
Hi Jon., excellent instructional series on prep.. You haven’t mentioned a bath for the old girl. Do you wait until the last sanding session to wash her down prior to paint?
you have also probably noticed that in don’t wet sand either. I normally don’t wash the car with soap and water till after cutting and buffing stage. I used to wash the cars prior to paint but had more issues with water coming out of the strangest places. so I quit doing that.
No, actually I had not noticed. Interesting thought process.
@@charlieseidelmann6702 i do wipe the entire body down with cleaner prior or painting of course.
Question. Why don't you use a guide coat when sanding the primer? It quickly shows highs, lows and even ripples.
With this particular primer it changes color drastically as soon as you sand it so it’s really not needed. It’s like a built in guide coat. The camera doesn’t pick it up nearly as well as it is in person
@@VinylVillageGarage Thank you for the fast reply. Another quick one. You mention in an earlier video that this primer is thick and had to use a #2 paint tip. I don't have a #2 my largest is 1.7. Does the manufacturer allow some thinning? Thank you?
Good question, the tech sheet says it can be reduced with 5% polyurethane reducer. BUT that is if you are spraying in temps over 80 degrees to slow the curing time. That tells me it can be slightly reduced but cooler temps will take much longer to cure.
I did some research and some thinning is allowed but it's for temperature only. Not for changing tip size.
I went to the Clausen site to read up on that primer. That primer is not inexpensive! Holy Moly $329 a gallon. WOW.
