    What ac compressor did you use to get in stock ls location?

    • @VinylVillageGarage
      @VinylVillageGarage 2 години тому

      It’s the factory Compressor and bracket, in 2002 there was two compressor choices for the 5.3 trucks as long as it wasn’t the variable displacement one it can be used with the vintage air kit. The subframe and passenger side engine mount had to be modified to get things to fit. I did the extra work to help keep the engine bay cleaned up and hide the fact it has AC

    Great job showing all this, looks like a whole heck of a lot of work. How well does that 3M 90 compare to Weldwood adhesive? It looks like it works pretty well. I have a 64 tempest convertible that has the same wrinkles in the sail panels, I don't recall who made the top on that one, My 68 FB convertible is a Robbins top. Not much of any wrinkles in that thing. Also a PITA to latch the material has zero give . Makes me wonder if the wrinkles are more to do with the top provider then the installation.

    • @VinylVillageGarage
      @VinylVillageGarage День тому

      The 3m stuff has a good bond but I think the weldwood is better as for bond. The convenience of the 3m is nice. But I also see they now sell an aerosol version of wledwood now.

    I decided I'm frightened vs. inspired, so I found a local shop with Tops in their name, and a Vinyl top, with plastic window is $1,900 and zip out window is $2,100 cables extra. Cloth top with plastic window is $2,400 with zip out glass $2,700. They've done 10 first gen firebirds and camaros this year.

    • @VinylVillageGarage
      @VinylVillageGarage 3 дні тому

      Seeing how a top will Cost you nearly $1,000 in materials to do it yourself $1,900 isn’t that bad. Send me Pictures when it’s done.

    Al Knocke has videos on how to install tops. The key to getting them taught is to secure the rear and quarter first then drape the top over the front header bow. pull it tight and mark on the top with a dark crayon, across the front edge of the header. When you are ready to staple the front on , lift the header 90 degrees up, pull the top 3/8" over the header from the crayon mark and staple.

    • @Joe7166
      @Joe7166 4 дні тому

      Also, use a garment steamer to relax the wrinkles. Al uses a bullet propane heater on the decklid to heat the rear window

      This car is what I call looks the part. The rear axle we left the 2:56 open diff with the idea the owner will never race the car it was built for cruising with the top down and with that gear it’s like having an overdrive and saves on fuel costs. The CAM I don’t know the owner and his brother built the engine. I only painted and installed it. It sounds great thru the factory style exhaust with the HO long branch manifolds and runs great down the road. 50 mph it’s like 1,500 rpm’s
