Nice to se someone working on a bird. Camaros are nice cars but they’re everywhere.
Thanks I love my birds, I do like Camaros as well but I would pick the bird over the Camaro every time
@@VinylVillageGarage I agreed on the Bird over the Camaro, with the exception of the '79-'81 models. The Z/28 was superior to the chisel nose Trans Am, IMO.
Nice, that all metal is some good strong stuff. I too elected not to led my quarters to the roof.
Yes it is great stuff. I have yet to mess with lead besides removing it.
Great job! Cant wait to see more.
Me too! I hope the weather has improved in your area.
@@VinylVillageGarage The Big tornado missed our place by about a mile......too close. We are good to go but our town got hit really hard.
@@VinylVillageGarage I thionk for some reason my last comment on this dissapeared lol. The weather is better now. The big Tornado missed our place by about a mile or so but our town is pretty messed up.
@@shaggyscarshop glad to hear your place survived I thought it was close but had no clue it was that close.
@@VinylVillageGarage yeah it was a fun night in the storm shelter. Too close for comfort.
Very calm atmosphere there. Very neat and clean.
Thanks!! making do with the space i have to use, appreciate you watching
Nooooo! Not a vinyl top! Your white transcamarado looks so nice with full painted roof. Considering your level of skill with all the sheet metal work, body work, and paint you do... doing lead work will be easy for you to learn. I am confident after a few trials you will be an expert and follow up with a leading video to teach your followers. Keep up the great work. Very inspiring. I have both quarters and rockers to replace on my 69 Z/28 and I plan to lead those sail panel seams. Looking forward to it.
I have read up on how to and thought about doing a lead install soon. Good luck on the sheet metal repair on the Z. Would love to see some pictures of the progress and lead job as well.
@@VinylVillageGarage After I posted the comment, I realized I am an idiot. Your white trans am is a convertible. I remembered how gorgeous the paint was and was thinking it was a coupe. Gene Winfield has a good video with Eastwood from a few years back. Eastwood has lead kits for a somewhat reasonable price $122 and non-lead solder for $200. It is more expensive and messier than modern body fillers, but good for the thick fill areas and period correct if one desires that.
@@michaelb4060 no worries. I have actually watched that video awhile back. It’s pretty good and it would probably watch again just before I attempt to do it.
Very good explanation and demonstration, as usual. Looking forward to the next step.
Experience is the key on body work for sure, but hopeful showing where to start helps.
You have a lot more patience than me, I spent 6 months cutting, welding, and grinding my way through my project but when it came time for the body work I let the paint shop do it.
I cut my teeth on body work waaaaaaaaay before I could weld, it’s a messy job I don’t mind it a little bit but prepping an entire car solo is a big job. Hoping to have the body work finished within a month.
Looks like a great option that “all metal”. 😊JR
Yea love this stuff, it’s a little pricey but hasn’t failed me yet.
Great job brother I wish I was there
Me too friend, it would be a whole lot cooler
Like others have said, great job so far on the body work. Can wait to see the car done.
Thanks! Me too I want to
See this car outside in the sun all done.
Nice work!
Appreciate that.
Good job sir,,looks very nice and even!!👍🏽
Thanks. It should paint over quite nice. Still have a bunch of body work yet to do.
Been watching your vids for a while now, even using some of your tips! Thanks! Just this past weekend I used your masking tape trick I saw you use on the quarter, when installing a lower fender patch panel for my Camaro. Shamefully, what triggered me to comment and finally say thank you was hearing PANTERA in the background. YESSSSS!!! Was that intentional alongside the use of "all-metal" filler???
That’s awesome you noticed. I have to keep it a low volume to avoid copyright issues. But I will say it’s a huge motivator for me. I actually had the opportunity to watch them in concert again, well 1/2
Of them. It was a cool opportunity even took my son, last I saw them in concert was 1994.
The squeal of the pitch shifted guitar in 'Becoming' is just unmistakable! Agreed, I have the tunes cranked in my shop as well. I haven't cranked Pantera yet, though...I'll have to do that next time I'm working on my 69 Camaro! Usually I have Dream Theater, Nightwish, Rush, or even some old RnB/Soul playing sometimes. Never got to see Pantera in concert, sure wish I had. Bet it was incredible.
Getting ready to do the same thing on mine. It has the same chunk out of the lead seam in the same place yours is. It had a vinyl top also so not sure if someone was in it before me or if it was a factory blemish. Great vid as always.
I almost think cars with vinyl tops aren’t finished as nice when it comes to this seam. From what you have seen it sounds this maybe true.
Question on media blasting. Recall an older video you used to do yourself now outsource. What size compressor do you have? CFM rate. Research shows you need a lot to push the sand. Not sure how large of one needed to paint with a gravity feed spray gun.
I spot blast small areas with my 60 gallon 8hp compressor and paint with it just fine. When I did blast the entire car before I outsourced it, I used a sullair 185 tow behind compressor to keep up with the demand of the industrial blaster I have. It makes such a mess I think I will be selling it and just pay someone to blast future builds
Agree with outsourcing for whole car. Looking for a small media blaster setup to get the rust pits my flap wheel misses. Want to size compressor large enough to paint the car too. My 5.5 hp 30 gal compressor feel a bit to small.
@@dpin6072 it could be done done with that compress but a bit bigger would work much better. 60-80 gallon is more idea
@@VinylVillageGarageWas think the same thing. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
Even though your not my neighbor, you help me beyond words. Thank you again! Was also wondering if you have any input on the repo subframes. I think I'm going to have to go that route. I can't find a used one .can't find any one that will bend mine back. It's a shame it totally rust free it's just bent.
The vinyl top thing mine was horrible under there! It's a fact they did a s÷##% job under the vinyl tops.
Glad to help. Wish I had neighbors like you! i did use a reproduction subframe on my 1969 convertible, worked great and no issues with it. Mine was hit hard left front and rusty decided replacing was a better option.
How far from Indianapolis are you?
Then it is confirmed! Kinda figured it was that way. Thanks
❤
😎😁
Your seam looks good, but in the restoration world either go back with lead ( it really is easy once you try) , or weld in a patch over the seam.
The problem with plastic ( all. Metal etc) is plastic and metal heat indifferently in the hot sun and you can actually see a halo around the work sometimes. Watch some lead videos and try it next time. Just wear a carbon mask. Form it with a file, a little glaze and you’re done.
Thanks, lead is something I have toyed with a little and I would like to get better with it. I will say it’s an art for sure
Will you epoxy primer again next then high build primer?
Not every time, when I break thru to bare metal I will spot epoxy prime again. Then proceed with a high build primer.
Can I put a side application AFTERthe 1st application has fully cured
Yes if it needs more it works like regular body filler. Sand the surface, clean, then reapply what is needed.
Is All Metal magnetic? That sounds weird. Will a magnet stick to it?
Not it’s aluminum base, fiberglass body filler works as an alternative
🤘😎
Thanks friend for your continued support!
What number is mounting evaporator to firewall
Pretty sure it’s this one.

@@VinylVillageGarage yep ty problem I see is supposed to be 5/8 hose but my water pump outlet is for 3/4 have to reduce it . Wondering where would be best place to do that at . Thanks for your suggestions. Looking good 👍
@@dannymingle6903 vintage air kits if used as designed both lines are 5/8” so they are expect you to either use 3/4”. Hose and crank down the clamp it stretch 5/8 hose over the barb on the timing cover. Another reason why I made my
Own lines and i did one 5/8 and other 3/4” to remedy the situation
@@VinylVillageGarage thanks going to try and stretch the 5/8 over the 3/4 outlet or put the flow valve around battery area and run a short 3/4 hose . What do you think?
I did one where I put the flow valve inside the fender area between the inner and outer fender so the valve wasn’t exposed and visible to keep under the hood tidy and then I think I ran the 5/8” hose from the valve to the timing cover and stretched the hose over the 3/4” barb.
