Now I need to do the same to my brother's old computer. My hard drive, a 1TB, has 64MB of cache, which isn't amazing, but it's 7200rpm and a pretty good drive. My brother's computer boots from a 500GB hard drive, that runs at 5400rpm, and has 8MB of cache. Ouch. So I need to fix that soon.
I'm an ssd fanboy but I find my 1tb Toshiba hard drive inside my main pc runs at an acceptable speed, it might also just be my 16gb of ram... (boot 32s, browser opens in 3s). Laptop hard drives are a meme thou, unbearably slow and prone to fall and shock damage.

With my Samsung system, deleting the bloatware was crazy difficult for they hid an app that would reactivate every time a clean install of Windows was done, automatically reinstalling the bloatware. I was fixing up an iBuyPower prebuilt for my friend's kid and it came with one lonely stick of 8GB @ 2933. I found two mismatched sticks of 4GB from an old OptiPlex I had laying around; 2133 & 2400. Either window reported the speeds wrong, or more likely, you powered off the system, replaced the ram, and the XMP profile locked in (because you didn't clear the CMOS) then it ran at that speed, either way that is actually a good OC considering the ram would have defaulted to the lower speed of 2133 without any XMP profiles set. Curious to know if that config was stable, I got a 3200mhz kit without any cooling and cant lock in any higher then 3333mhz stable so I left it at default
Now that you have shown the dif between 1 8 gb stick versus 2 4's, how about 2 8gb sticks of that basic ram they used? What is the performance of that?
I have a HP Pavilion "Gaming" 690 and can sympathize, the mobo is glued in to the case, the PSU uses a proprietary connector, and the BIOS is locked. I'm just gonna build new. But I did manage to get a 16GB RAM stick and 500GB M.2 SSD in it to limp it along. The upshot is I have 2 free storage drives and a OS license that I can transfer to the new system so, more money for a GPU!
Hey so I have a prebuilt PC which has an OEM version of Windows installed. Can I replace OR remove this version for the full-fat Windows 10 pro version? I don’t wanna buy this pro thing just to realize that the Windows 10 in my pc can’t be changed because the pc came from a pc manufacturer.
Did you re-install windows with your the computer connected to the internet? By doing so it will install windows bloatware instead of just windows without any of the applications you wont use like the windows store(forgot how its called).
How do you remove the PSU and replace it with a new one? I’m doing it right now and it’s a lot more harder than it should be compared to the videos ive seen. Also, how do you access the back panel? I’ve taken the pc apart but I’m struggling a lot with getting the back of the PC to be detached so I can access it?!
Even though the 2x8gb ram didn't really improve games that much it still increased the 1% and 0.1% lows. Also I think you should've also tested 16gb to see if upgrading to that would've made sense on that pc, and to see how much it would increase performance in games that use more than 8gb.
I wanted to also test 16Gb but after the system killed one of the kits of RAM I didn't feel comfortable putting any other RAM in it. *edit* Oh in regards to the 1% lows they were better. However again for some reason Fortnite was still just as stuttery. Somebody mentioned the servers are struggeling at the moment.
@@ryankuna Yeah exactly, if someone were to buy this, having 16gb would really benefit the longevity of the system with games like RDR2 taking up to 11gb of ram, and playing games with other apps running on the background (discord etc.) would also hugely benefit from having 16gb of ram.
dual channel ram's main benefit comes with integrated graphics, that's where you can see substantial difference in gaming performance. Systems with dedicated GPU not really sensitive to single ram stick.
hey about a month ago i bought a nitro n50-610 to replace my nitro 5 laptop with nearly the exact same specs(aside from upping the cpu to an i5-10400f, the ram from 8 to 12, it still has an 1TB HDD, and a 1650) but i want to know if i can upgrade the ram, cpu or gpu if im willing to go the extra mile and unscrew and rescrew some of the more tedious elements?
So i bought a prebuilt pc from best buy bc it was on sale. So it has a i5 10400f and 12gb of ram and most basic things but no graphics card. i was thinking of putting a fan and a gtx 1660 super. Should i buy a new case and motherboard and graphics card or should i just keep the current case as long as i have no thermal issues? I would really appreciate any answers as i am fairly new to the pc market
so if i were to purchase a single 16 GB of ram with ddr4 and cl19 certification would that work in this pc ? or should i just add a single 8gb stick instead?
I have this pc and I am thinking of upgrading the ram to 2 16gb sticks from Corsair that are 2666 Mhz I'm just wondering if it will be compatible and any other upgrade suggestions other than a sad would be appreciated thanks
If I just add the same EXACT stick as the factory stick to double my original 8gb, will I have all this trouble geting it to run at 2666? If i get the one with 19cl?
You reaffirmed my plan to build my own instead of buying a prebuilt, esp. an Acer. Thanks! Kudos on your choice of glasses. I really like them. Where is your accent from? I'd say middle-eastern, someplace formerly part of the British em-payah.
I have the tc-885-ua91, came with i3-9100, can I upgrade the cpu? I’ve been racking my brain looking at compatibility websites with the mother board and what not, any help would be appreciated
This is totally similar to a DELL machine, including BIOS and board. Good SSD, good graphic card, and you need not worry about all these ram speeds and shit. Before your tests I had no doubt that it would do little if any, difference... As an it admin, the very first thing we do when we get new pcs (sometimes prebuilt) is just reformat. Quicker than removing all that crap. Writing this on a DELL 3847 inspiron tower with an RX580, i7 (gen4), 32gb ram, 256gb ssd and 4tb mechanical drive. Beats anything.
I know this pc has some problems but I have some on who would sell me one of these used in good condition, with an SSD and 12 gigs of RAM for $500, think it's worth it?
Speaking as an Acer laptop owner. If you considering buying an Acer product, make sure you do you research before purchasing. I did and got what I was looking for but that was after a few hours of research
Instead of trying to get the two 4-gig sticks to run at 2666, did you try underclocking the one 8-gig stick at 2133 to give a fair benchmark comparison?
I just bought this. Waiting for it in the mail. Reading the comments scares me a bit, but I do plan to add an ssd, and ram... But in all honesty, I don't plan to use this for gaming, but for music production. Should I upgrade the intel? Is it possible I won't run into these problems if I'm not doing any serious gaming? Or that they won't be as troublesome? Is there something you recommend I update anyway? Thanks for the video!!
I run a 256GB SSD as my main drive (SanDisk) and also managed to salvage another 240GB one from my best friends old computer - both also have working windows on them - Great to have one to split as a work PC - Less distractions :D
I got this machine for my nephew a few years ago and wanna put in an SSD with a fresh install of windows but I don't know how to get his Windows 10 activation key. Any idea? Thanks in advance and great video keep up the good work
Also Task Manager doesn't always report the right ram speed for some unknown reason, At least on my system its says im running DDR4 1066 when I as well run DDR4 2666, CPU-Z and other programs normally get it right.
That's true about JEDEC. You can run 2666Mhz only with XMP profile or JEDEC profile. Most of the cheapest OEM motherboards like Acer, Dell, Lenovo, ect. doesn't support XMP profile or even any memory options at all. So, you can run only with max supported JEDEC profile. For example I have GSkills Ripjaws V (XMP 3200Mhz) but my JEDEC profiles are only 2133Mhz, so by default the ram runs on 2133Mhz and if I want more speed I need a motherboard with memory options.
The Acer nitro 50 is bad temps but if you put msi after burner on max for gpu it stays normal and the Acer fan cpu they give u you can put that at 100 percent and to upgrade ram is a bit complicated you have to download cpu-z and you have check the exact ram and buy that same one and it will auto put speed at 2666mhz.
Got a great deal on a Nitro N50-610 but now I'm worried. It's been okay so far, but I've not tried to replace certain parts yet. Should I just return under warranty? :/

The upshot is I have 2 free storage drives and a OS license that I can transfer to the new system so, more money for a GPU!
would it be possible to switch from a gtx 1650 to a rx 6600 on this exact pc model (only upgrade was ram 8gb-16gb)
I just want a pc and this mans is out here testing a ton
Hey so I have a prebuilt PC which has an OEM version of Windows installed. Can I replace OR remove this version for the full-fat Windows 10 pro version? I don’t wanna buy this pro thing just to realize that the Windows 10 in my pc can’t be changed because the pc came from a pc manufacturer.
Did you re-install windows with your the computer connected to the internet? By doing so it will install windows bloatware instead of just windows without any of the applications you wont use like the windows store(forgot how its called).
I never install windows with internet connected. I refuse to make a microsoft account for windows. I am a strong believer in the offline account. 😁
@@DawidDoesTechStuff You know your stuff!
Yeah there's a MASSIVE difference in stutters with 8gb and 16gb, and single channel and dual channel as you said
I wanted to also test 16Gb but after the system killed one of the kits of RAM I didn't feel comfortable putting any other RAM in it.
@@keymmortal6551 ty i just bought 2 8gb of ram
I upgraded this, for me it was pretty easy to upgrade, I'm upgrading the whole thing now
@TinyTimGames yeah, surprisingly easy actually

@@ghozt1442 motherboard too?
really interested in knowing the brand that manufactures the 1650 from this pre-built? Does anybody know?
Is it difficult to switch the gpu in this system? I’m thinking bout a 2060
I’m planning on doing the same thing
Hey I got the exact same pc this summer and its so loud do you know how to make it quiter plz answer me ;)
hey about a month ago i bought a nitro n50-610 to replace my nitro 5 laptop with nearly the exact same specs(aside from upping the cpu to an i5-10400f, the ram from 8 to 12, it still has an 1TB HDD, and a 1650) but i want to know if i can upgrade the ram, cpu or gpu if im willing to go the extra mile and unscrew and rescrew some of the more tedious elements?
Can you do a review on this monitor? I was looking for a budget 144Hz IPS 1080p Monitor when I stumbled upon it
The last time I saw 2x 4Gb sticks of RAM was 2011, lol.
Can i change cpu cooler without removing mobo ? I want change for arctic Alpine 12
isn't 2133 the typical fallback for DDR4 if you don't enable an XMP profile?
0:40 You are playing DRG! :D
"I hate this damn planet!"
"Here we go again!"
so if i were to purchase a single 16 GB of ram with ddr4 and cl19 certification would that work in this pc ? or should i just add a single 8gb stick instead?
Do a NZXT prebuilt
I'd say middle-eastern, someplace formerly part of the British em-payah.
when i got this pc it came with 2x4 gb of ram and it runs at 2666mhz so i was wondering what should i get if i want to get another 2x4gb off ram?
Beats anything.
ive been confused lately because i cant find any videos on my nitro 50, my one has 2x8gb of ram and comes with ssd and im just so confused
I know this pc has some problems but I have some on who would sell me one of these used in good condition, with an SSD and 12 gigs of RAM for $500, think it's worth it?
What do you think about upgrading a aspire axc600 es2a worth it or not bother?
your fresh install of windows comes with the epic launcher???
Getting closer to that magic 100K Subs!
hey i got this pc is there anyway you can upload a vid when you change the case to clear and add lights and stuff to the pc?
can i upgrade the gpu on this system? i have it and i want to get a 1660 super, or a 2060
Speaking as an Acer laptop owner. If you considering buying an Acer product, make sure you do you research before purchasing. I did and got what I was looking for but that was after a few hours of research
That is a good point! Research is always very important when it comes to buying any PC.
@@DawidDoesTechStuff Yes sir. Never buy without it.
Instead of trying to get the two 4-gig sticks to run at 2666, did you try underclocking the one 8-gig stick at 2133 to give a fair benchmark comparison?
Nice video! So does this motherboard stop you using XMP profiles on RAM? Only allowing a specific type? Wow. That''s bad!
It doesn't read XMPs at all. It seems to only look for a specific JEDEC profile. Ut really sucks that you can't manually set any of it.
So what kind of ram must I buy at best buy to put it in and work
My first pc was brought by mum. It cost £910. i5 7400, 8gb DDR4 single channel. GTX 1060 3gb. No company name. 1TB hard drive. Was a Lenovo prebuilt
"was a lenovo prebuilt" was the eye catcher
Bitbat don’t hate it was like 2 years ago.
I have a higher model for this pc but I’m curious about the cooling on it, should I be concerned?
Did you confirm the memory was running in dual channel, just asking cause I've come across OEM motherboards that don't have that.
I have this pc except I have a gtx 1070ti and a Ryzen 7 2700x and It underperforms terribly I need help
How do you get good FPS on GTA V? I have a laptop running a Ryzen 3750H and an RTX2060 and I get around 70 fps
The Acer nitro 50 is bad temps but if you put msi after burner on max for gpu it stays normal and the Acer fan cpu they give u you can put that at 100 percent and to upgrade ram is a bit complicated you have to download cpu-z and you have check the exact ram and buy that same one and it will auto put speed at 2666mhz.
i just installed 16 gig 3200 corsair vengeance lpx and its at 2133, can someone help me I wanna change it to 3200 but i dont understand

Got a great deal on a Nitro N50-610 but now I'm worried. It's been okay so far, but I've not tried to replace certain parts yet. Should I just return under warranty? :/
did you decide to keep it? wanting to buy it but i’m slightly worried.
@@gusschwarz9679 I returned it and got a different rig.
@@BeenjLike how long did you have it until you returned it?
@@gusschwarz9679 I probably had it for around 3 weeks, just got bad vibes from the reviews and overall performance. I just dropped an extra £300 on a better rig basically.
@@BeenjLike so do you think i should buy it, everybody in the reviews dumps on it but i see it running 200+ fps on high settings on some games.
Does this machine not XMP? Most systems will go with the SPD which guarantees functionality. See if you can find an XMP profile, for example XMP1
Does anyone know if the cpu is upgradeable on the nitro n50-620.
The newer one
Does that motherboard have an nvme port, cuz if so, you should have used an m.2 nvme ssd. I have a 1tb Samsung 970 evo nvme ssd in my pc and I boot in less than 10 seconds

Hi there Dawid! I sadly got this pc myself for about a year ago. I feel like there´s just to much problems, and that it´s gonna cost too much to make this computer good. I´ve actually started to wonder if it is worth it to sell this computer, and use the money I get from that as well as the money I already have, to build my own? Thanks in advance! :)
