!!!BE CAREFUL DOING THIS WITH N50-640 I5 12400f GTX 1650!!! I bought the noctua NHU9S. My motherboard is different, it has only 2 ram slots and there are things between the screw holes that stand over the screws' level. When you mount the noctua's bracket nearer to the rear fan it means there is a 2-3 mm gap that makes impossible to mount the cooler. You can solve using nuts to reach a similar level, as I did, but then you have to force the motherboard to reach the processor with the cooler. Furthermore the 12400f supports 1700LGA which means you have to use the number 2 hole in the base brackets (NOT THE 1 AS SAID IN THE VIDEO, for 1700LGA it's written in noctua's user manual). Ok, temperatures are 30 degrees better in average which is insane, but I needed 1 hour to mount the cooler and honestly I'm lucky I didn't break the motherboard. NOTE: If you're able to install the cooler, no space problem with gpu and ram (4060 and 16gb for me). Sure there is an amazing noise difference and the temperatures in gaming are cut by half ( I just installed the cooler and nothing else: no other fans, no tape which is ugly to watch). Just info for upgraders: I installed Noctua NH-U12S REDUX on my Acer N50-620 yesterday. You need 4 M3 screws (I used 10mm long like in the video) to attach the brackets to the motherboard. Temperatures went down by 30c, which is way more than I expected. Only issue is, the case can't close completely as the fan is too big for the case. I think I will puncture some holes on my side panel later so I can close it fully.
This upgrade was exactly what I needed! My temps weren't unreasonably high to start with, but the exhaust (rear) fan had a harmonic resonance (sounded like blowing across a coke bottle) at medium load. Adding the small fan to the front (and covering the meshy vent on the side cover) killed the noise completely.

I do not think so. it does not look like a Standers ATX screw Pattern, also you would lose all the front I/o. Best thing to do would be get a new case, Mobo and PSU & cheap heat sink.
Yes you can, but like TechNitWit said, you will lose easy access to front IO. I used a CoolerMaster Nr400 case and just used some 90 degree adapters to use the front IO slots through the back of the case.
Quick question is the mounting bracket for the cpu cooler already installed? , I'm at 7:44 in the video and it looks like it is but just wanted to make sure it was because some cpu coolers require you to take out the motherboard and install the bracket on the back of it.
I am glad i´ve found this video. It´s very entertaining and i learned so much about the Acer Nitro 50 about how to build it and which item i should bought. Thank you and keep it up!
Thanks for putting up this video and the hassle of upgrading this POS. I was helping a friend's kid buying their first gaming desktop. Rather than building one from scratch, I opted to start them off with a pre-built Asus as oppose to an Acer. While both brands offer similar specs and price, Asus seem to put more standard parts and cut corner that is commensurable, like crappy CPU fan or RAM. This Acer is just a POS, non-standard case, non-standard board.

Excellent video my guy. I have an extra NH-D14 lying around and am considering trying to fit it in the N50 case. Might be a bad idea but in theory it should work. And yes, I'm prepared to rock it with the side panel off since that definitely won't fit back on.
You can use any upgraded PSU you want with the CoMeap 24 pin to 6 pin adapter off of Amazon. Downside is the PSU will stay on after shutdown. You will have to manually turn the PSU off every time. Not a big deal, but might be for you.
So if I just do the front panel fan the one that comes with the screws do I need anything else? I see a lot of links for fan splitter cables I'm just curious. Thanks
Im thinking of the front fan upgrade, but im confused by the wiring, did you split the cpu cooler cable for the front fan 4pin to 3 pin and 4 pin? Edit: also does the front fan blow air in while the rear one out?

The Acer Nitro 50 has a backplate that's glued to the motherboard. not impossible to take off but annoying. but the cooler he used is compatible with the Acer CPU backplate.
Judging by what I see in your video for the NH-U9S, the Noctura NH-D9L (double heatsinks with fan in middle), that you also said can be used, will provide airflow rotated 90 degrees to that of the Noctura NH-U9S when it's installed. ie From top to bottom in the case, whereas the NH-U9S when installed flows the air from the front of the case directly at existing back case fan. Is this correct ?
Yeah Mine would get to 90+C It could be 3 things. Software like a fan controller, 2 Heat sink was changed or they used a different brand fan. 3 or they apply the thermal paste bad. The thing is though I can reproduce the overheating with my thermal paste. So I am leaning towards Fan or heat-sink change. With Stupid vid a lot of stuff was change or add because they could not get ahole of it.
Is there a CPU upgrade you would recommend. I was thinking of upgrading to a i7-6700k but I’m not sure if it’s compatible or if there are better options for this PC?

Any upgraded PSU will work, but you will have to use a 24 pin to 6 pin adapter COMEAP from Amazon. You will have to shut down the PSU manually after every shutdown, however. That is what I do, and I have not had any problems.
its pretty much there with out going to a larger PSU, If you put the 500w in you can do a RTX 3070, you could do 64GB of ram but 32GB is good here. 64GB is overkill for gaming.unless you are video editing you want as much ram as you can afford, CPU Is maxed . If you did a case swap, Mobo change and New PSU. the sky is the limit. you could do a RTX 3090 I9, 256GB of ram. the 11th Gen I9 are not worth it. Intel bomb hard here never got them right they overheat and do not turbo well to there 5ghz for long. Better sticking with the I-7. People where pretty mad at Intel about the 11th Gen. Pretty much making the I9 11Th Gen worthless. This is also why I think they Drop the 12th gen so soon.

Yes you can, but like TechNitWit said, you will lose easy access to front IO. I used a CoolerMaster Nr400 case and just used some 90 degree adapters to use the front IO slots through the back of the case.
i have this pc too its an i5 12400f and i bought be quiet pure rock slim 2, so i cant install it on my cpu could you tell me how to do it?
Quick question is the mounting bracket for the cpu cooler already installed? , I'm at 7:44 in the video and it looks like it is but just wanted to make sure it was because some cpu coolers require you to take out the motherboard and install the bracket on the back of it.
Love your videos mate! But i still didn’t get the idea behind covering the side panel with the tape?
Exactly what I've been looking for, thanks for this detailed video!
I am glad i´ve found this video. It´s very entertaining and i learned so much about the Acer Nitro 50 about how to build it and which item i should bought. Thank you and keep it up!
Glad I could help!
God bless you for this video!
Yes any time!
Thanks for this video man, helped me a lot. I bought 50-620 with 3060ti. CPU temps dropped about 30 celcius, but GPU is still as hot as it was - 80 celcius ;/
Yeah Not sure why they drop them with single fans but they run very hot.
What temps did you have before I'm experiencing really high cpu temps and I don't know if I should be worried.

Your vids are helpful. At this point, I’m buying a new motherboard, new case and new fans and using the parts from my nitro. The stock case and fans are giving me too many roadblocks.
Not a bad Idea.
Could case swap it into a CoolerMaster NR400. Able to use stock PSU and motherboard.
@@tonyboraggina6223 was it hard? Did you have to resort to any non trivial custom workarounds? looking for a apt case

Very helpfull video,
just wanted to ask, since this is my first time dabbling in PC upgrades, are the standoffs in the intel and amd kits for the motherboard actually included in the Noctua NH-U9S?
Sorry English is not my first language and was doubting that I was missing some crucial informations.
Yes
Hello, please tell me, did you buy a cooling system and a fan, as in the video, do you need any more wires or adapters? Sorry, English is not my native language)
Can you add a new cpu to the n50-610 or no because i have a rx6650xt and i have 32gb of ram and im wondering if the cpu is the reason why my game lag crazy
Could be game settings
hey could you do a case swap maybe? I have this pc and im just looking to reduces as much noise as possible
Yes it is planed. A aio would help with noise.
I was able to swap the case to a Cooler Master NR400
is only noctura suitable for nitro? are there any other cooling? I I wanted to replace the cooling without replacing the bottom mount from under the motherboard
Nope just what I showed.
i have added the extra cooler how do i change the rpm for it because its not showing up on my bios
The fan that came with the Noctua was a 4pin PWN or 3 Pin PWM?
I found the splitter cable. unfortunately the RGB fan I got was too big for the vent to mount on the front panel
That sucks
This may be a really dumb question, but I’m new to pc. Do you plug the fan u install in the front of the pc into the motherboard?
Correct you Need a Splitter cable PWM 2 or 3 Way.
Is it worth only adding the first fan, will it have significant impact?
It does help every thing you change helps.
I just purchased a version of this PC to tie me over until prices go down. Ryzeb 5 5600g processor - gtx 1650, 8gb ram, 512gb ssd. Putting 16gb of ram in it ( 8gb by 2) - a gtx 1660ti I have and looking to upgrade the cpu cooler as well. Do you think the AMD wraith coolers will be a right fit with the Mobo? I know you have the Intel version and might not be sure. Figured its worth a shot asking for an easy upgrade chance
If it has the normal Black plastic mounts yes it will work.
Shouldnt you tape all side? When there is space between graphics card ventilator and ventilator added on front there is air coming in. So my question is, is it better to tape all side or tape how you showed on video? And next question should the added fan blowing air into case, or out of the case. Last question, can you send me list of items i NEED to buy, because in description you added like 10 kits of screws and I dont know how much should i buy. Or maybe i can buy only single needed screws. What are needed screws name and numbers. I would be very gratefull if you respond me. Cheers
Hoping you do a video for the AMD AM4(Ryzen 5 5600G) socket since it needs backing plate, and cant remove back case cover. Great Vidz Dude!!
Noted! You can adapter any cooler you like if you go and get the same thread screrw's, M3 16mm or 18mm haved worked for me in the past. Had to do this with Hps.
I have a nitro 50-600 and mine was different. there is no open grill at the front and I had a cd player and a hard drive installed there. So I couldn't install a fan at the front.
That sucks
if you see this i have a nitro50-640... my concern is the ram ( 2 slots) will that fan/cooler be too big space wise when it comes to interference from the 2 ram sticks? if so which one should i go with when it comes to the noctua cooler? TIA for any help

Is possible for you to try closeloop liquid cooling install for this. I have this pc since 2019 and Noone has posted anything about any mods until you did.
I have AIO video planed in about 3-4 weeks.
thank you for your n50 nitro videos, they helped me a lot, do you think using the app "nitro sense" to control fans and using them at 80/100% is bad? or fans will keep working well?
I will be fine imo.
Is it Celsius or Fahrenheit? 1 c is like 32 f
All muserments where done in celsius.
How can you take out whats on the opposite side of the first fan you installed? I believe its where you would install storage hard drives
I noticed the orientation of the heat sink is different in a couple videos, is one superior to the other? I currently have a 3060 ti in with the upgrades and have the fan pointed down towards it.
Is that a good idea to tape the side panel with holes?
It worked for me
in the acer nitro 50 air cooler video do you need a specific screw kit to attach the noctua cpu cooler to on intel motherboard in acer can you do upgrade on a i5 1140
so the steps are going to be the same. the reason you need to use a the mentioned screw kit is because Acer glues the backplate to the Motherboard and you would have to remove the Motherboard pry off the glued backplate to use the one supplied by Noctua, i5 11400 uses socket LGA1200
@@Kramptonyte thanks
A whole screw pack would be too expensive for me but do you think buying just the m3 10mm screws would do to get the CPU cooler on?

They make apater cables on amazon you can turn a 6pin in to a 6+2 no problem.
there are three cables not sure which I need. I got the same RGB fan you use for front panel.

So I want to buy the NH-L9x65 instead. I was wondering if the instructions to installing it change or stay the same. Do I also HAVE to buy the splitter? Can I buy any M3 screw kit? Yes you will need the splitter cable. it is not to much like 2-3C with the paste. it is pretty much the same thing as the video just swap it in.-

they are not glued you should not need a pliers should come right off with your hands they do have latch
Hey nice mod Technitwit!
Where do i plug the rgb fan into the motherboard if i want to run the lights?
It is a 3pin ARBD you need a Hub that can do 4pin to 3pin.
please help I've purchased the black version, do i have to place the plate on the back of motherboard or can i just follow the guide in this video the same way you showed the tan version?
if you have noctua you should not need to change the back plate you do need some m3 16mm screws that are not with the noctua.
what fan should i get for the n50 640? and what new psu do you recommend cause 500 watts is barely enough to power a rtx 3060 ti, i5 12th gen 12400f and 16 gb ram
500w is fine. Will handle that just fine. They make slim noctuas and cookid 92mm fans
hey there, the 92mm one was unavailable so i wanted to know what other 92mm fans were available. oh yeah thanks for making life much easier 😎
Excellent video my guy. I have an extra NH-D14 lying around and am considering trying to fit it in the N50 case. Might be a bad idea but in theory it should work. And yes, I'm prepared to rock it with the side panel off since that definitely won't fit back on.
Lol it would cool it nicely
How comes you don’t need to use noctuas included backplate, is it still secure by using the m3 screws?
Because I used none provided screw, that worked with the stock back plane. so you do not have to remove the mother board.
Will any philips m3 10mm work? If not wich would work and how long does it need to be?
Thank you in advance!
Fan screws I believe need to be 16mm for both, Yes any M3 screw should work as long as it is long enough. Cpu need 10-12mm

500w is the max due to the the type of psu it has.,
You can use any upgraded PSU you want with the CoMeap 24 pin to 6 pin adapter off of Amazon. Downside is the PSU will stay on after shutdown. You will have to manually turn the PSU off every time. Not a big deal, but might be for you.
Ended up just building a PC. Thanks though guys.

With this PC, do you not need the backplate as there are already studs on the motherboard?
The Acer Nitro 50 has a backplate that's glued to the motherboard. not impossible to take off but annoying. but the cooler he used is compatible with the Acer CPU backplate.
oh yeah what case would work for the n50 640s motherboard? and also what type of mobo is it, i couldnt find out anywhere?
Judging by what I see in your video for the NH-U9S, the Noctura NH-D9L (double heatsinks with fan in middle), that you also said can be used, will provide airflow rotated 90 degrees to that of the Noctura NH-U9S when it's installed.
ie From top to bottom in the case, whereas the NH-U9S when installed flows the air from the front of the case directly at existing back case fan.
Is this correct ?
My PC is VERY loud and I’m looking for a good fan with screws included. Any recommendations?
Will this fan as in the video work with the i7 on my the Nitro 650?
Yew
i have about same system i don't have no over heating i here fan come on sometimes on some games i play i bought it over 2 years its still works great
Yeah Mine would get to 90+C It could be 3 things.

Any upgraded PSU will work, but you will have to use a 24 pin to 6 pin adapter COMEAP from Amazon. You will have to shut down the PSU manually after every shutdown, however. That is what I do, and I have not had any problems.

I have tg 01 2007in and it's specification is 11 Gen i7 and rtx 3060 ti and 16 gb ram and I want to upgrade can you tell me how much can I upgrade
its pretty much there with out going to a larger PSU, If you put the 500w in you can do a RTX 3070, you could do 64GB of ram but 32GB is good here.
