Quick question: do you know if it is possible to obtain the 2d coordinates of the corners of an individual track? This has to be stored somewhere, otherwise the gui couldn't show it. It seems to me those could be used for Mocha-style plane tracking... Edit: never mind, found it. pattern_corners
6:41 I recommend you set it to RGB instead of RGBA. CGMatter probably already knows this but to anyone who don't: the a is the alpha channel. It is the color that computers use for transparency and if you do not have s transparent background (the video you recorded doesn't) then there is no need for the extra 25% file size it needs
Best full motion tracking course I have ever seen. I love how you increase the technical complexity step by step, where each step builds on the one before, with footage that's harder to track.
IT IS NOT OK! That this video is on here just for free! I learned so much from this it's not even funny! But honestly, there are lots and lots of shitty tutorials. This is one of the best one. You might just helped me to land a job. Thank you for this content!
Amazing tutorial - I can't remember the last time my attention span was engaged for an 30 minute tutorial, got through all this easy! Well presented! Much love!
Best tutorial about tracking in Blender by very very far. I checked other tutorials where they pressed buttons not explaining what they were really doing. Not the beast way to learn anything. Thanks a lot!
This is the one and only useful video on motiontracking in blender on the internet!!!!!!! The other guys just skip steps!!!! big time! Thank you so much!
Your channel deserves more exposure! Thank you for putting in so much effort in creating great quality content! Sat through the whole video! This is required watching for anyone going into matchmoving and layout work!
really appreciate.....slowly defining everything....really the best ingredient for new blender user........much much better the all the other tutorials which speed up without proper difinition.......thank you very much......this helps a lot
This in-depth, long format is the best! And you're teaching vfx concepts too! Only a few people do this for Blender, and even less do it so well like you. Thank you for the loads of time and effort that you invest in these tutorials. They are amazingly thorough, and your focus on concepts is rare, very much needed, and appreciated.
This is a great tutorial, thanks! You're a natural teacher, you structured the whole thing really well. I watched it at like x1.75 speed and had no trouble following everything too
Wow! I'm normally wary of super long tutorials because they're usually filled with fluff or useless chatter that wastes time. Most of them are long tutorials with about 5 minutes of useful information. NOT THIS TUTORIAL! To anyone reading these comments, THIS IS YOUR DEFINITIVE TUTORIAL ON BLENDER MOTION TRACKING. Thank you so much for this and keep up the great work! You are clearly a master at your craft.
As a film guy now getting into 3D modeling, animation, and VFX vs just mainly working in After Effects this is a great tutorial. At 05:54 is a common misconception when it comes to video frame rates. The reason for the "weird" frame rate rate dates back to the analog days, pre silicon when engineers used the oscillation of the electrical cycle to create the timing. So when tv was black and white you had a frame rate of 30 or 25 based on the country you lived in because it was divisible by the electrical cycle. When they introduced color into the mix they had to change the frame rate to fix phasing issues that they had run into. So this is one of those things that's a remnant of history. The important part is that you keep in the same timebase as what your overall timeline is based in.
All of your videos are interesting, comprehensive, and fun to watch. Pretty much my favorite Blender series out there. You're certainly a competitor to Blender Guru.
Oh my goodness you are amazing!!! Thank you so very much for this very in depth tutorial! It is very rare to find a blender tutorial that is as informative, engaging, doesn't drag, clearly explained and examined, and understandable as this; but also one that touches on subject matter that is under explored. I feel like you're digging up blender secrets like hidden treasure XD THIS RULES!!! Please keep up this incredible job!
I don't know if you will read this but you just amaze me everytime. I'm like "I need this tutorial" and the next day i see this channel's notification with the exact content that I need. You have not good but great quality content. I hope you continue this good work. Thank you.
I began with 2.8 earlier this year (2019) mainly with animations. I want to get into some quality motion tracking and hit upon your videos. I've watched a lot of tutorials and whilst there's nothing wrong with 99% of the others, yours are by far the best presented and clear tutorials I've seen. Excellent! And I've still got parts 2, 3 and 4 to go! Thanks for making this tutorial both informative and interesting. I especially like to be told what happens in each case when various options are applied to accomplish the same task - as in the various motion model options that you demonstrated. Very helpful. Thanks for a great tutorial series.
love it thank you so much best tut out there i also only interested in 3d tracking and compositing, truly amazing thanks i been practicing 3d tracking for a while but never really understood why i need to use the diff mod in such detail
The very best video series about tracking in Blender. Thank you very much sharing this in-depth knowledge with us. Finally I understand why to do things and not just clicking what I'm told to click. Take care! :)
Extremely valuable! I'm glad I watched all the way through because I was working with tracking a single point of footage from a GoPro inside the cockpit of a fighter jet and watching the instrument panel stretch and bend lol
You are an excellent teacher. Thank you for this, I've been looking for an easily to follow yet detailed breakdown of how tracking works in Blender. Look forward to ploughing through the rest!
I know your new format is getting you more views, but I wanted to thank you for putting these tutorials out. This really helped me to understand camera tracking in Blender. I appreciate all of the time and effort that you put into these. Thanks again.
the best, hello i'm brazilian, (that's why my bad english kkk) i really appreciate your tutorials even knowing a few weeks ago, i especially loved your topics on tracing, i've never seen so good
This tutorial was great for giving me some insight into how motion tracking works. I prefer this more measured approach to your super fast videos. I have followed along with some of the fast ones but have to admit, I had to slow the video down. - Do more like this, it's worth it.
This is so well done, superb explanation of Mocap, probably the best I've ever heard. So causal, so patient. Careful, a company may want to hire you for training, or worse a high school. Good work man!
Really like these long form videos. I just spent $300 on Syntheyes upgrade, because of the new Blender Python export script, and I'm kicking myself now. I always thought Blender's VFX stuff was an after thought and well garbage, but I tried tracking the table footage that was used in another tutorial from this channel and Synth couldn't get through it with out a lot of manual help and image correction (I actually ended up stabilizing it and then it was okay). Blender got through it in two tries right out of the box. I haven't tried object tracking in a scene yet (Synth is pretty great at that) or roto (Synth is pretty bad at that), but I'm liking what I've seen so far out of Blender.
EXCELLENT series of videos. I learn soo much more by taking the time to actually LEARN how things work versus just copying or going through the motions ! :D
Incredible video. I learned a ton. Maybe I should learn how to actually use blender before going straight to motion tracking, but it's just so fascinating that I had to check it out. You explained everything pretty well, so I didn't even get lost once. Thank you
Usually I'm lazy and like to skip things, but this video is so in depth I decided to watch the whole thing and the next one, too. This is an incredible lesson for free. You should DEFINITELY be selling courses on udemy bro!
Just coming back to this video.. ( I have ADHD and apparently I'm completely invested in CGI again) anyway I love rewatching all these CG Matter /Default Cube videos!!!
Let’s give this man some support! I’m heading to your patreon now. I’d love more in depth work from you, especially compositing. Great work! You’ve earned my dollars!
Hi, thank you thank you for that awsome tutorial. And of course a new wish. As you brought us to this point what you think of the next step. Maybe Set-Extension

Bravo for this video and these links!!
hey my prefetch doesn't Fully gets blue is there something that I can do for memory and blender cache.
@@RKV1700 yes you can. Change it in preferences under "memory and limits" ;)
This was a true master class on Blender tracking, told with incredible clarity. I can't wait to apply what you've shown here.
True Genius and good teacher.
Wow. Thank you for a free tutorial your effort will not be wasted, this channel will grow. Continue making good content.

4 years later, and this is gold... to understand the very hard to understand thing named, motion tracking.
Best full motion tracking course I have ever seen. I love how you increase the technical complexity step by step, where each step builds on the one before, with footage that's harder to track.
There are tons of blender modeling tutorials, not very many for cg, thanks for making these!
The fact that he didn't trim out the sock and deformation thing and accepted that loc.rot.scale can track it was amazing. You are good teacher
IT IS NOT OK! That this video is on here just for free!

You do a really good "job". It's pure fun to watch your videos and learn from you. Thanks for all this good stuff on video tracking.
It never ceases to amaze me how you young whipersnappers easily catch on and run with complicated technology! Great job! Thanks!
Your channel deserves more exposure! Thank you for putting in so much effort in creating great quality content! Sat through the whole video! This is required watching for anyone going into matchmoving and layout work!
thank you! I really appreciate it :)
That's it! I'm becoming a supporter. This gold cannot go un-rewarded.
thank you :)
i really like this format. reminds of older blender guru "how-to" videos which i found really relaxing for some reason. (and of course more in-depth).

All of your videos are interesting, comprehensive, and fun to watch. Pretty much my favorite Blender series out there. You're certainly a competitor to Blender Guru.
This was not a tutorial. This was a lecture. A proper lecture!❤️
Oh my goodness you are amazing!!! Thank you so very much for this very in depth tutorial! best motion tracking tutorial using 2.8
I keep coming back to this tut. So much great information that could even be translated to other tracking software.
I began with 2.8 earlier this year (2019) mainly with animations. I want to get into some quality motion tracking and hit upon your videos. Hey can you walk us through some advanced composition.
Great tutorial, great channel and great tutor
thanks for your efforts. your tutorials get me switching to blender more and more :)
YESSSS, i have been waiting for a super extensive motions tracker tutorial!!
This is an outstanding, comprehensive and delightfully detailed overview of tracking in Blender. Thank you a ton for doing this!

You're Godmode in this one, amazing information all in one place. Can't thank you enough!
You are an excellent teacher. Thank you for this, I've been looking for an easily to follow yet detailed breakdown of how tracking works in Blender. Look forward to ploughing through the rest!
So Dope! Motion tracking is where its at. Thank you!
Outstanding tutorial! You are the master of motion tracking in Blender! Congratulations and thank you for sharing it!
This video was great for clearing up a lot of the confusion I had about tracking motion models from your previous videos. Keep up the good work!
Finished. Thanks for this man, blessings. Moving on to the next one. Promise to become a patron once my income situation stabilizes.
Thank you man, Amazing tutorial.. Really liked it...
I know your new format is getting you more views, but I wanted to thank you for putting these tutorials out. This really helped me to understand camera tracking in Blender. I appreciate all of the time and effort that you put into these. Thanks again.

great and useful video as always
Really like these long form videos. I just spent $300 on Syntheyes upgrade, because of the new Blender Python export script, and I'm kicking myself now. Thank you for this awesome tutorial! Can’t wait to play with this.
Holy shit man. Instant sub. I think you just rescued me from a hole I was digging myself into for a project that was getting away from me.
fantastic tutorial! thankyou! love how you've got chapters, im literally using this like an instruction manual :)

Thanks man for the tutorial. Need to relearn tracking.
Just finished watching
U R the best.. thx for ur efforts . I really need to learn tracking & Texturing
Great video man!
thank you!
Finally I finished the tutorial after 5 days. What a good explanation but there's a tiny problem when you upload videos I can't find them in the description so nest time if you don't mind put a link for videos to download them thank you so much
thats the most educational and good explainatory video tutorial aveeeerrrr !! BIG LOVE....
Love your tutorials!!! I had a lot of problems when tracking with blender, but after watching your tutorials I can now track very good! The only problem is to match the lighting, can you make a tutorial about matching the light in camera tracking?
Btw G is for Grab
I agree. I am one of the few that appreciate longer videos. NOT 3 1/2 minutes with an algorithm-based thumbnail and no content.:(
Great suggestion. In my project lighting changes have a significant effect on tracking results and I was wondering if there any way around for eliminating the effect of light change in tracking.
Thank you for the great in-depth work!
Invaluable for camera tracking. Perhaps one thing is a bit lacking and that would be a 4th tutorial video on 3d object solving in a video. Typical case would be product replacement in ad's and so on. :)
