Honestly that whole final 2 minutes of Ellie killing David and reuniting with Joel made me forget about the rest of the episode. Like it’s irrelevant. Because that acting from Bella was scarily good. Like I’m not even exaggerating when I say that was one of the best performances I’ve ever seen in general. The screams and her display of pure shock made me feel sick in my stomach. Like I was watching a real life event, of the most horrible thing a young girl could go through. She deserves an Emmy big time. I’m in shock and can’t stop thinking about that final section
This was my favourite episode so far, sad it's going to be over next week
Sundays won’t be the same anymore
Hay it's not over yet we still got season 2
Fantastic episode. However, I have two minor gripes.
1. Missing a version of Ellie and David fighting infected (no, I wasn't expecting a full-on battle with bloaters, ect, but a scaled down version)
2. Joel went from practically dead to full-on attack mode to quickly.
Yea I understand that. Although in the game Joel does also wake up out of nowhere and man handles 10-20 dudes in the process. Here it was less and a bit more realistic
I think they've made the right decision in keeping infected *very* scarce to avoid ruining the tension surrounding them. My look at it is, if it doesn't contribute to the story(Most of the gameplay), find a better way. Imo, they did.
I think they did an alright job with Joel. As mentioned, it was sorta the same in the games. We can also see he still is weak, but probably going off of child-in-danger adrenaline rush - which is a real thing.
I totally agree with your point on the music. I love how they mixed the sound design in the game. All the dialogue and environment noises faded out and we just had the haunting score, it made me sob when I first experienced it.
I also missed Joel showing up to stop Ellie from stabbing David more. I think it was important for Joel to see what she had to do to escape. Ellie saved herself from the physical danger, but I think Joel saving her emotionally works better if he actually interrupts her. Its so cathartic to see Ellie go from full on survivor mode to realizing Joel is alive and she's safe and doesn't have to fight anymore. I understand why they changed it for logistical reasons, but I missed it. The game scene is just perfect in every way, but the show came pretty close.
I think the music could've been better but I think Joel abruptly showing up to console Ellie was way better. I think they gave the scene too much room to breathe by having Ellie go outside then have Joel show up.
I think I know why they changed the music in the last scene, it's because they probably wanted people to sit with everything that had just happened, and in the game we spend that whole section playing as Ellie so naturally we feel every last ounce of what she has been through.
Tv is watched and not played though and I really believe that they wanted to better emphasize the fact that Ellie snapped emotionally and will never be the same, not only is it true, but it is such a key piece of her character in the second game that I feel like sugar coating it like the game does (I'm very glad that Joel doesn't find her until after she snapped for that same reason) with a long, slow overpowering and somber musical piece takes away from how disturbing the whole situation truly is.
That last scene destroyed me, I really didn’t even listen to the music and I’ve seen both.
The final scene took me out because I kept wondering where all the other townspeople were?
Also some of my favorite action from the game was cut out, Ellie stalking through the resort!
Welcome back AP! 🙏
Thanks 🙏🏼
TLOU may even be better than Mortal Kombat (1995) and Sonic the Hodgehog (2020) when it comes to adaptations.
You didn't put that video with different music in the description
I put it in the description right now. Thanks for the heads up
Everything is a masterpiece and a 10 out of 10 to you.
No…not really, but even if that was the case, it’s my opinion. You can take it or leave it 👌🏼
Nice video
They definitely don’t use the music enough from the game
Yes, but often uses music from part 2. Anyway, they constantly choose not right music for main and most memorazing moments
@@user-dv6hx4ye4c yeah I noticed they used a lot of the music from part 2
Not to nitpick, but I found those line they gave to David about mushroom love to be dead weight; like I totally get that they produced the fungus like this way thematically for the show, but trying to sell these lines as something David would sermonize is a hard sell, not buyin
They didn’t break the character nor the episode, but stuck out as an error unforced
This episode was rushed to death. I had so high hopes because this section of the game was the best part. And they barely explored it. It had all the right elements to make it so much more better than the game. But the character development felt more like a checklist than actual writing to me. They really needed more episodes to make this show better. I’m highly disappointed. And no way left behind deserved a whole episode in the show when there were only 9. Barely anything happened in that. I was totally on board with the show till episode 7 and hyped af for the upcoming episodes. Now I just want to be done with this and move on.
I noticed that HBO in every iconic moments chose else musics instead original, but may be i forget about one of them
I do agree with the music, plus he should have seen ellie killing David like in the game and grab her from him
also, out of all the people talking about this episode i love that you're giving props to Bella Ramsey because he performance in the last 5 mins of the episode was unreal
agree w music
Unfortunately music rights are extremely complicated. 😕
Should have Ronda rousey play Abby 💪
Nah…loved the hbo soundtrack…the game soundtrack stuck out too much drowning out the effect of the best acting I’ve seen on television…damn performance this episode was worthy of an emmy for sure
This show managed to make me despise David more than I already did.
No it wasnt and you know it.
Ya, it was good, sure, but it could have been done much better. It was so rushed honestly, should have been 2 episodes.
It’s honestly the worst episode for me yet, I am really disappointed on how they handled the storyline and they kinda made it more terrible than in the game. They did a great job of making David creepy and the audience uncomfortable. I am annoyed how female suffering is mostly portrayed with Sexual Assault, I’m not annoyed that they made a story about the subject just more how they handled it. I am honestly more disgusted by how the writers combined Ellie’s personal story SA. The last 5 mins of the episode they criticize Ellies morals and character and it’s led up by an SA attend, it’s just a weird conclusion. I see some people say that the story is about empowering Ellie, but not with that writing. They could still have the same scenario with Ellie fighting and Killing David. They could have included the topic of SA but they had to have handled it with a lot more care. Don’t have it be the last 2 min of the episode and don’t write it so it has this weird shitty morals that I hopefully think was written accidently.
it was perfect? baby girl? she is 19 years old for crying out loud. she does not look like a 14 year old child. her accent? what is that? no one arguing that she is a good actress but absolutely NOT for Allie's role. she does not look behave or sound like Ellie in the game. Do Not bring her back for season 2
She's literally smashing it, go play the game lol
