@@rosie684 Probably because they aren't voice actors in the show, they're just real actors. Redoing the voice means redoing the entire scene, whereas with the voice actors, you can literally make them rerun the same line until you've got it exactly how you want it. The show requires a lot more in that regard.

Game David is far more creepy throughout the game, TV David is disturbing in his last minutes though.
Yeah, game David seemed talked and looked like a creepy antagonist right off the bat while TV David had the front of a normal person with seemingly "pure" intentions only to reveal himself as a self-righteous monster who's only interested in his own survival.

Even if we already knew TV David would be evil he’s much more subtle and understandable here you could argue Nolan north is still the king though, agree with your point 100%.
Game David was from the beginning and so forth already a creep. Show David was straight up a sanctimonious creep whose real intentions only came up later. Same dudes just different fonts
What’s funny is that Nolan North, who played David in the game, said that he specifically tried to play David’s early scenes as if he were a genuinely nice person.

It's so confusing to me that they put all of the violence of this episode into the video, but censor the swearing because apparently that would be innapropriate.
maybe youtube algorithm is more sensitive to swears than imagery
UA-cam scans for curse words and it affects the algorithim, but not necessarily violence. Go blame them.

Toning down Joel's violence in the show made the torture scene WAY more intense. So glad they did it justice

So glad they didn't skip the interrogation scene. The show has left out a lot of the action stuff so I'm relieved they kept that part.
its not that they left it out its hard with the budget and how to properly execute certain events in the games timeline so somethings have to be altered

The only issue is *time*. There isn’t enough time to fit everything in 51 minutes.

Tbf they've only really left out or dumbed down shootout scenes that arent that important to the main story, on the game its cool but the show they arent needed
The "How did you put it, tiny little pieces?" scene in the show legit gave me chills. His delivery is so disturbing

Definitively also my favourite episode so far and one of the most identicals. As long as the series goes, every episode seems to be getting better and better. Looking forward to the last one.
Damn for me it's a tough tie between this episode, episode 5 and episode 3.
so they don't burry members of the group they eat them , He literaly served the young daughter her father and fed her without her knowing . That was sick.
People from David’s group on the show seemed to know that something was clearly off, but they chose to look the other way

Ellie’s delivery is certainly more confident and assertive in the game, but that makes the HBO version even more human and sympathetic
Especially because in the show, they’re actually in the freezing cold, & snow which will impact the delivery.
Confidence and having an assertive tone is human. It’s based off of personality. It doesn’t make the show better.
Might be because it was an adult playing a little girl's voice in the game 😅😂

Just came here after the ep. Such a FANTASTIC adaptation. Perfect balance of storytelling by avoiding the action sequences that are made to play and not to "see"

My favourite episode. Incredible adaptation of what was already the best chapter in the game, and they actually made David even darker than he was.
What a great formula the way they blend accurate and faithful scenes from the games and brand new aspects that tell a larger story

Scott Shepherd was actually fantastic in this. He played David incredibly well. Imho a superb psycopath.

Given his career in dubbing, he is certainly already more or less known in the audiovisual world. And if he doesn't make a film or a series, it's certainly because he doesn't really want to, or he's simply more passionate about dubbing.

My only gripe with the episode is the missing sequence of infected battle before David drops the bomb of everything happening for a reason. Made the twist seem a little rushed and not as weighty.
I'm the one who didn't play the game and every episode hitting me hard 😢

They did that by asking him to play David 2 separate ways. First, to act as if David genuinely is a nice and caring person. And then second, as a man with sinister thoughts and motives. They isolated the 2 aspects of David, so that when they put them together again, it would hit twice as hard.
These comparisons are truly awesome.

The idea of having your knee cap popped off is bone chillingly horrifying.
Some of the delivery of the lines fell flat for me not sure if it was because of the cold but it didn’t really have the same impact as the game

The show is doing a great job, but the game cannot be beat.
The show is not trying to compete with the video game they are two different mediums one you get to play in one you get to watch.
@@ray24051 This. It's so much harder to translate mediums than people think. Videogames can be so incredibly interactive with their storytelling that serialised media can't compete by copying alone. The series has the material, and is doing a great job funnelling it through a different lens.

Was glued to the screen from beginning to end, that's saying a lot in these days of short attention spans. Bravo to all the actors, producers, set designers, but a special nod to Scott Shepherd who brought an extra creepy David to his portrayal.

Some of it had to be altered for the medium, and so that even people who played the game will still find things to be surprised about, but for the most part, yes.

Its not shimmer in episode 6 shimmer is still a child so its callus

Not trying to be that guy but man the performance in the game is just so much better then the TV show and this is coming from a guy that thinks the TV show is absolutely great.
Don’t get me wrong, the game was executed masterfully, but it was still *voice* acted and motion captured. People comparing the acting between the mediums, it just strikes me as odd. Maybe people are more attached to the game because of the originality or bc they spent more time with the characters(?).
