It's sad and unfair - Blink, Green Day and to a lesser extent NOFX all hit it super big and made bucketloads of cash... MxPx were around the same time and were just as good if not better, but somehow it just didn't quite hit for them
2 reasons. I think they really goofed it up after "Buffalo" and even more after "Ever Passing" as they changed their style to sorta blend in a little more with the other pop punk bands. And their "Before Everything and After" album really softened them up for a few years, leaving a lot of people to say they were just another generic pop punk band. Not that I don't like these albums, but you get what I'm saying I'm sure. I also don't think that the Christian label they used to have helped with this either. You know how the punk scene is. It's still unfair, though, and I wish people could look at them for what they are, throughout their entire career. Earlier pop punk bands HAD to have been influenced by them. "Life In General" especially, along with this song.
completely agree - it's crazy how different the first releases are with those super fast, short songs.. LIG is awesome, then with buffalo you start to see it just becoming a little bit more mainstream/radio-friendly, but at this point it is a good blend of their old style and new style, this was their peak. You are right, after that they lost their 'uniqueness' and just blended into the background. I also agree, sadly, that the christian thing probably hurt them. People are just judgmental. I'm not religious but the fact that they are never bothered me one little bit - but some folks are funny like that
Yeah, and after "Before, Everything, and After" they drifted back, but by then the mainstream was sorta over the punk/pop punk thing, sadly. Fun fact, they're actually not Christian anymore. At least Mike isn't, but I don't know about the other two.
Last year, Mike Herrera played an acoustic show in St Pete, FL. At the very end of the show, he invited the whole crowd to come up on stage and sing this song with him. I'll never forget it.
XxImK001causeIgotxInMyNamexX the word retar just means slow and the "retarded" people are actually a whole lot smarter than most people so I wasn't using that word to be mean I was using it bcuz sum1 wasn't think about what they said. they were being retarded.
I first time I heard this song I was 13.. Now I'm 14 y the fuck couldn't have I been 14 in like the 90's-early 02 or go way back to the 70's and work my up through the time of amazing music and not the shit today
2020 Version: We ain’t got no place to go Can’t even go to punk rock shows Darling please go wash your hands Corona virus, touching’s banned We’ll have to do with TV shows, radio, I don’t know We have to stay away from crowds Please wear a mask, don’t speak too looouuuddd ooh ohh oohhh
Thanks to my older siblings (who are 9+ years older than me), they played this band’s songs all the time during my childhood. The nostalgia’s real!! 🤟😜🤟
The place we used to go in Portland gave a dollar off if you brought a can of food for the food bank! I saw mxpx a few times for $4 and a can of pork and beans!😂
I remember they were the 1st band that I listened to and this was the 1st song I liked they were also the 1st band I went to see I was 8 or 9 I'm 14 now and I still listen to them. this just brings back memories. Mxpx I love you guys 🖤
I remember downloading the music video off of kazaa from the family computer upstairs and it taking forever to download. Each time I’d hit play to see how far along it downloaded and each time It’d add about 5 seconds until it finally finished...2 hours later. Lol simple times back then.
You make me almost cry, hahahaha i was in the same train, almost 1 day to download this video back in 2001 from Kazaa. I still have the same file after all these years (sorry for my bad english).
"Punk Rawk Show" Lyrics we ain't got no place to go so let's go to the punk rock show darling take me by the hand we're gonna see a punk rawk band there's no use in tv shows radio or rodeos i wanna get into the crowd i wanna hear it played real loud we ain't got no place to go so let's go to the punk show darling take me by the hand we're gonna see a punk rawk band there's no use in tv shows radio or rodeos i wanna get into the crowd i wanna hear it played real loud ain't got no money to pay we'll get in anyway doesn't matter i don't care it fells good so we should share we're going to the punk rawk shooooow! oooooh!! ooohh!! ain't got no money to pay we'll get in anyway doesn't matter i don't care it fells good so we should share we're going to the punk rawk shooooow! oooohh!! ooohh!! we ain't got no place to go so let's go to the punk rock show darling take me by the hand we're gonna see a punk rawk band there's no use in tv shows radio or rodeos i wanna get into the crowd i wanna hear it played real loud ain't got no money to pay we'll get in anyway doesn't matter i don't care it fells good so we should share we're going to the punk rawk show! oooohh!! ooohh!! ain't got no money to pay we'll get in anyway doesn't matter i don't care it fells good so we should share we're going to the punk rawk shooooow! shooooow!! shooooow!! shooooooooooooow!!
As a dude in the mid 90s who worshipped death and black metal, Teenage Politics changed my life and I still bump it. I remember every word. Talk about random finds, it was in a bin of cassettes..no cover label almost rubbed off.
MxPx, was always enthusiastic and awesomely cool. They've gotten much more refined as time has gone along, and they're more awesome now. I liked the early stuff a lot, but the new stuff rocks hard too.
This song came out in 1995 and i was 14 back then now im 36 and still listens to it and still loving it and i was a Punk Rocker since back then till now
2nd song on Tooth & Nails first sampler CD. I thought all that music was so weird when I first heard it when I was like 15 or 16....& then fell in love! Memories!!
I was watching a bowling for soup vid and this came up as a suggestion, so I thought 'yeah, why not?' And I'm so glad I clicked on it, this is so awesome!!!!!
My dad was a dj 20/30 years ago and would occasionally do school dances. when I was in high school he told me kids were giving him crap about not playing any punk music. I put this song and a nofx song on a mix cd for him. The next day I asked if it shut them up he said they didn’t know what to do
MxPx is so underrated for being such an important band in the pop punk scene.
True dat

That sounds like a disaster
The 90s truly were the best decade
When I was 14, my cousin who was 17 lived with us for a while. He would constantly play this and got me hooked to it.
I am glad to hear you say that
The drummer is one of the nerdiest looking rock stars I've ever seen... I love it lol
Him and Milo.
You’re forgetting Weezer
Watch antiflag videos, just kidding haha
Don't diss yuri
I always felt he was never included as one of the best drummers in punk. Something I think he deserves.
I bought this album when it first came out, I’m now 42 and still enjoying it

Seen these guys six times in concert. Always a blast.
2022 and I'm still headed to see a punk rock band
I love watching older videos , pre cell phones. Back when everyone was "disconnected" but still connected.
Kids nowadays don't appreciate real music. MxPx is real music.
