This was my me and my brother's song. We grew up listening to in on the Tony Hawk games. We always said it described out relationship. He took his own life a few years back, so hearing it is really hard, especially with the message of the song. I guess I wasn't there when he fell down to his lowest, and that hurts me a lot, but hearing this song makes me think of him and makes me smile

Just spent 17 days in the hospital after going into cardiac arrest and dying. Lucky to have been revived with CPR. Listening to this song daily gave me the strength to get through this ordeal.
I'm on my "fiancée"'s account here, but I'm a 31 year old woman. Im on my way out for what feels like is way too early due to a liver and kidney disease, which makes me feel lame because all of my prior attempts didn't work and now that its happening, I'm oddly not ok with it. ANYWAY - my original point to this comment was to say that I listened to this song and album sooooo much each time I got hospitalized. Its absolutely both crazy and awesome how music can be our tether back to life and how it affects us all. Its cool (but also not cuz I wouldn't wish it on even my worst enemy let alone a stranger) to at least hear someone else say what I think. Please believe me when I say I genuinely hope things are getting better for you.

The weekend before last we had a gathering for my best friend Maddie who died of cancer. Her only request was "Play fucking Rancid!" We put her urn on a throne in the middle of a field on her mom's property, lit a huge bonfire and played Rancid's entire discography. We got drunk and told stories all night. Some of them might have been true! Thank you for blessing the world with 52 years of your love and passion, Maddie.
This album was controversial upon its release with many fans citing it as the SELLING OUT of Rancid. I was a freshman in High School when this came out and it divided the punk community, mainly due to their association with GOOD CHARLOTTE and Kelly Osbourne in the video. I personally loved this album as a 14 year old skater and bass player from Miami. With Rancid being seen as one of the last of the true punk bands, this really divided a whole fanbase. They were actually booed at Warped Tour that year in 2003 in West Palm Beach. I still jam it. I'm older now and I say WHO CARES!! IT ROCKS!! INDESTRUCTIBLE!
I never got the hate for non hard core punk. I mean the Ramones were never Hardcore. And they are as punk as it gets. I love The Ramones, but I also like the Sex Pistols, I like the Clash, but I also like the Exploited. To each their own I say. But one can't dictate what's punk and what's not. Green Day and Rancid are both punk to me. Eff what everyone else says.
Saw these guys in concert for the first time in '96'ish. Have seen them several times after that. One of the best live bands out there. You can't help but have fun.
Just saw them this past summer in Asbury Park @The Stone Pony. They are still kicking Ass!!! I’ve been a fan since operation ivy. Love these guys. They have been the soundtrack of my life. Keep it up fellas hope to see you again

I've been listening to this song since I heard it in THUG 2 when I was 9. I loved the song back then despite not understanding the context. After my EX cheated on me and abused me. This song means a lot to me and I think about it when I'm down on my luck. I'm glad to have the support I had when that bullshit happened.

You're describing art.. punk is one form of that. A badass raw form indeed

Wee wee !!
Don't worry about me, I'm gonna make it alright
Got my enemies crossed out in my sight
I take a bad situation gonna make it right
In the shadows of darkness I stand in the light
You see it's our style to keep it true
I've had a bad year, a lot to go through
I've been knocked out, beat down, black and blue
She's not the one coming back for you
She's not the one coming back for you
If I fall back down, you're gonna help me back up again
If I fall back down, you're gonna be my friend
[x2]
It takes disaster to learn a lesson
You're gonna make it through the darkest night
Some people betray one and cause treason
We're gonna make everything alright
Well the worst of times, now, they don't phase me
Even if I look and act really crazy
I went way down, she betrayed me
Now my vision is no longer hazy
I'm very lucky to have my crew
They stood by me when she flew
I've been knocked out, beat down, black and blue
She's not the one coming back for you
She's not the one coming back for you
If I fall back down, you're gonna help me back up again
If I fall back down, you're gonna be my friend

Thanks
You!
Are gonna be my friend!

Theres a music rehearsal stuidio. The rancid quote "in the shadow of darkness, i stand in the light" is torched into the sighn. Nice huh?
Their sound just welcomes me home. I could never go too far. I could never lose too much. I could be dying, if I hear this band, I think I died all right. Proud to be Bay Area!
lyrically, one of the BEST songs written in human history! LOVE this song. Very inspirational.....
15 yrs ago when I dropped out of college to chase perpetual motion...
2019 and still perpetuating motivation! Thnx to all you Rancid friends!

My job is a mess, and my relationship for the past year is on the verge of ending. I wasn't expecting to come here for solace, but I think I found it.
Don't give up. It will get better. Take one day at a time.
Prolly give up on that relationship brother
Hey bro, I feel you so hard there. This last year I lost my house, car, wife, and job, so I get it. Just fuck make, jam this shit when you're feeling low, and get the crew to pick you back up man, that's the only thing that's saved my life in the last year.
Stay strong sometimes life sucks it will be fixed everything is gonna be alright stay punk and positive and be yourself mate♡♡♡
Same here; my auto shop is failing and I think my husband is no longer in love with me. The song just ended now I’m sad again.
Just came back from their concert! And this song while we all moshed was awesome! Went from shoving and going crazy to helping our bros get up after getting ran over and hugging while screaming the lyrics. BROTHERS FOR LIFE!!!
Happens at every show stop acting like it's exclusive to these pedos
Sure sign of a good song: when you've never heard it before, like I hadn't heard this one until today, and you still feel like you've heard it a thousand times. Looks like I might have a new favorite band on my hands...
Saw them live with Dropkick Murphys last weekend in Atlanta. Most energy I've ever seen in a crowd. If you get the chance to see them, you definitely should
Damn I remember when this song came out when I was 10... my oldest brother was 18 and was such a punk. So glad for my brother for introducing me to great music :)
Don't worry about me I'm gonna make it alright

I just love the punk rock energy that Rancid gives.Their music is truly electric! Long live Rancid \m/!
Still remember first hearing this when it came out, amazing song and whole record is a straight classic. Tim is just an amazingly talented musician, vocalist, songwriter and producer!
Dude this song is pop trash and it was Tim coming out to being a groomer. How ass backwards is your moral compass?
Been listening to rancid for 2 decades and still absolutely love them.
Such a feel good type of song--always cheers me up :')

I had this on repeat while cruising around barcelona what good times
Forza Horizon 3 as well. Their record label has a station in game and this is one of the songs they chose to represent their brand.
What about it? Is this shitty song in the game Junior
I remember the uproar about this album...
The sell out stuff, there old and washed up.
Now it's apreciated.

2020, and rancid always makes me feel that life is worth living. they'll never know how much their music still means to me.
@Curt Detman lol
Curt Detman Fuck you, man. They’re a bargain at any price. Seen then so many times.
@Curt Detman gotta make a living somehow dude
Fuck you Curt. I love them. Reminds me of Tony hawk pro skater as a kid staying up til 1 am grinding on rails for an hour.
@Curt Detman oh wow legendary musicians not performing for free and actually wanting a living... get a life
💯🔥This song keeps me motivated through everything . Loved rancid music since 94 ,and now its 2021 ,still listen to em all the time . Long live Rancid . One of my all time favorite bands .❤💯
The weekend before last we had a gathering for my best friend Maddie who died of cancer. Her only request was "Play fucking Rancid!"
We put her urn on a throne in the middle of a field on her mom's property, lit a huge bonfire and played Rancid's entire discography. We got drunk and told stories all night. Some of them might have been true!
Thank you for blessing the world with 52 years of your love and passion, Maddie.
Godspeed, Mad.
Beautiful story, sorry for your loss. Great to be able to re-grab a piece of your (our) youth in her memory.
Amazing tribute to your friend. Sorry for your loss, but, I hope this music helps keeps her memory alive
2020. When we fall back down, we'll help each other back up again.
Every time.
THAT'S RIGHT LONG LIVE THE PUNKS!
This is the ultimate bro theme
Yes
Yassss
Song is seriously so good. Has become more relatable as I've gotten older.
Rancid is one of the most underrated bands of all times - even for me as a non punk.
they have one good song. ir is it more. others i heard suck
What you say.
Well, fuck what people say. ..Simple solution.
Eff what everyone else says.
please come to Indonesia I really really like this band!!!!!!!
This song rules one of my faves by Rancid!
This song and band got me through the darkest times. Cheers mates
Saw these guys in concert for the first time in '96'ish. Have seen them several times after that. One of the best live bands out there. You can't help but have fun.
RANCID ROCKS LOVE THIS SONG AWESOME GUITAR
I love the fact that Lars and Tim have the same "punx" tattoo on their strumming hand
Just saw them this past summer in Asbury Park @The Stone Pony. They are still kicking Ass!!! I’ve been a fan since operation ivy. Love these guys. They have been the soundtrack of my life. Keep it up fellas hope to see you again
I love this song and video. Always cheered me up a bit during rough times. I'm recovering from a really bad car accident. Sure enough I'm here. It helps to have friends and family that's for sure. Rancid is good times.
I'm a Classic rock and Metal fanatic but this song soothes me like no other in times of despair.

Love this man. It's positive. Well directed and edited too. Great song overall. I like that they can still pull off dressing punk too.
Whenever you see them live and Lars hits that little “Dananana naaaa” part! Ahhhhhh
This song is about music. Took Over a decade to realise. God bless.
No actually this song is about his now ex wife, Brody dalle, leaving him for qotsa frontman Josh Homme.
@@red_icee962 damn Josh Homme has banged everyone lol
I've been listening to this song since I heard it in THUG 2 when I was 9. I loved the song back then despite not understanding the context. After my EX cheated on me and abused me. This song means a lot to me and I think about it when I'm down on my luck. I'm glad to have the support I had when that bullshit happened.
Matt freeman is one of the best and most underrated bassist..
Many people don't want to apreciate his talent, but he's one of the best Punk Rock Bassist.

Not just in punk, i´ll say in terms of rock culture, Matt is one of the greatest.

This is accurate.
I remember when i was in high school, my english teacher used this song as a ringtone. Then, me and my boys start singing out loud in the class when the song start play from his phone. Absolutely nostalgic
