    In the 90's, we called this "new school". Never ever thought I'd hear it called "old-school". Old-school punk rock is mid-late 70's, such as Ramones, Clash, Damned, Stiff Little Fingers, etc.

    • @humanblacklight
      @humanblacklight 4 місяці тому +1

      The 70s stuff... call it "original school" now. 😅

      Old School is cliche. I say, listen to what sounds good. Who gives an old peoples fuck if its from the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, etc. It's music!. Enjoy it.

      I just saw on some rock channel about um how rockers get honest ...when they get fed up, pretty much...& saw how j.davis got paranoid about food & made himself believe he got sick? Something like that. This is how much I pay attention. Well, it kind of triggered a memory too tho. I used to work in a bar, & listen, idc who's around... What I do care about is not getting drugged. Legitimately, that's the only reason y I'd carry my sodas around. & I remember my mgr throwing hissy fits. I took it as what doesn't she have control over? Lady, I legitimately dont know about all these ppl, back off. Legit, legit I need predotorial behavior just to no. Maybe I'm slightly crazy. But I'd like to believe that I'm not that stupid either. "Bc u don't know how crazy ur experiences sound till ur left explaining them out loud... to someone."- some i.net comment. It's like damn 😤 now I gotta go talk these guys into buying me more drinks. Fr somexs it was just cause I was underage. Other times, I just didn't want to drink (later experiences) & would order fake 1s. Lol @ dudes wondering y I wouldn't catch a buzz. Idkw this got me in my feels but I remember liking this. Mainly bc I was just being annoying outloud... I swear, they're all out to get me. Sometimes females r even more perverted & they get away w/ way more sh. & Idc if rich, poor, gender, attractive or not, race,,, bc honestly i really wanted to smack the f outta them too but then don't? 🤔🤷🏻‍♀️ I guess bc ...they're females 😖🤦🏻‍♀️. - a female.

    I remember seeing this on MTV circa 1998. The song, the humor, the subject matter--boffo. Purchased their albums ever since. Looking back 25 years, this kind "punk lite" was really great stuff, when they had good lyrics, good lyrical melodies, and powerful drums with simple power-chord guitars. IS THIS NOSTALGIA I FEEL??!

    When I joined the MxPx fan club in the early 2000’s, we got a bunch of pins with Yuri’s face on them. My sister and I used to put them in places for other people to find who had never heard of MxPx. Their reaction was priceless. I loved how MxPx never took themselves too seriously.

    • @crayonwriter

      I loved them at the time... Haha... Until the guitarist I forgot his name was trying to steal my girlfriend, asking her to come backstage CALLING MY HOUSE.... its been 20 years since that. So I have gotten over it now but it was not cool at the time. Yuri has been timed as one of the fastest drummers of all time on a side note. Since this song is abt him of course haha.

    It sounds like is kind of imitating scat singing. A rehearsed imitation of the sound of scat singing. Also they snap and use very little guitar in that part. That way you hear mostly the bass so it sounds kind of jazz like so that it complements that singing style.

    A friend of mine gave me this CD because his mom wouldn't allow it in her house. Little did she know that it was even worse in my house. I had to listen to this album outside so that my parents couldn't ever hear it. After all, they tried to guilt me out of listening to Five Iron Frenzy when a different friend lent me a different CD months before

      watching this it's jarring how modern it really seems....even the girls in the vid, with the nose ring....it's like time flattened

    back in the day, when MTV 2 was M2... they played underground videos and vids from bands from before they had their big break, it was obscure shhit.... like No Doubt"trapped in a box", Smashing Pumpkins "Rhinoceros", Daft Punk "Da Funk" and yes, this *amazing* MXPX video.... sad MTV keeps selling out to "reality" TV bullshhit
