I've realized this Grevious is so good against Jedi because he fights with a completely unique style. When Jedi are practicing or even fighting Sith, the opponent will have at most two lightsabers and will almost always be using a recognizable form. There's no way to prepare for an enemy who can spin their torso 360 degrees and wield 3+ blades at once while breakdancing
Also, sith and jedi use the force to fight as well which means they both know each others moves a little bit before its shown, not with grievous tho, he has almost no connection to it and that makes him 100 times more deadlier to those who rely on it. Same with magna gaurds and anti jedi droids
you can analyze the crap out of this fight just to see how Grevious fights. example Fear tactics: 2:49 (more then once honestly) Divide and conquer: 3:25 staggering opponents/keeping opponents unfocused: 3:39 also keeping opponents off guard by keeping tactics of fighting unpredictable man i wish this Grievous was cannon....
@@chimerical8746 him not having a force connection makes him weaker not stronger lmao all he can do is use sabers all they have to do is force crush his lungs like windu did
@@mr.angryman3599 I mean for sure he'd be way stronger if he could use the force, but just because he can't doesn't mean you can sleep on him either. Mace was able to do that because he got the jump on Grievous, but it's usually the other way around. And though hypotheticals probably don't matter much, it might be worth noting that most other jedi probably wouldn't do that if they got the jump on Grievous since jedi are only supposed to use the force for defense, but Mace has no chill.
“And the others?” “They are all dead, sir. Especially your padawan, like man is he dead. Grievous really, I mean really did him in. Nothing left but red paste... sir.”
fitting, that he should be given a major injury to his respiratory system not long before his death (well, Vader's was fatal. Grievous' gave him a nasty cough and may have limited his abilities/made him wary of direct engagement with other powerful Jedi for ROTS)
Honestly the best part for me is at 4:32, something I never appreciated as a kid. At this point, if my memory serves, we didn't know Grievous had any organic material in him. He was just the Droid General. So when he turns and reveals an organic eye, meaning there's an organic brain in that metal shell calling the shots and performing those moves, it's terrifying. Also the fact that the eye betrays no emotion. No glee, no joy, no fear, no surprise, nothing. Just Grievous hunting Jedi like prey.
Honestly I think it would've been scarier (for the Jedi) if he was entirely a droid. The big contrast in the militaries of the Clone Wars was that the separatists had quantity, not quality. The Jedi and Republic overcame the overwhelming numbers of the droid threat by having better troops, better coordination, and the elite Jedi. Imagine the concern the Jedi have when see one droid absolutely annihilate an entire squad of Jedi. Now imagine their fear once they realize that droids are mass producible, and there could be more than one General Grievous.
@@wrongchew3423 Which was what originally made the IG-100 "MagnaGuards" so scary. A mere droid capable of going toe to toe with and even killing most Jedi. Ofcourse, retcons and bad writing have reduced them to a gimmick that even a novice can effortlessly destroy entire squads of in seconds. Similarly with what happened to Grievous.
@@ForsakenDreamer7Were those the same model as Grievous' bodyguards in Episode 3? At least there that movie did them some justice. As a droid, to last any amount of time against the likes of Skywalker and Kenobi is impressive
@@baron3904 Yes, those two were the very first models in the IG-100 series: IG-101 that fought Kenobi and IG-102 that fought Skywalker. In the novel, which is based on the older version of the movie's script, the fight was much longer and had the MagnaGuards actually landing hits on and overwhelming the two Jedi.
kartoffel Salat You forgot that the final episode of this series where Grievous gets his chest crushed takes place AFTER the Clone Wars series does. Grievous just has a better voice in the canon timeline.
Something to point out: Grevious isn't even using all his arms, he was still holding that ace up his sleeve while taking out several Jedi single handedly
Conversely, when Mace Windu engaged him during the Battle of Corusant, Grievous immediately takes out all 4 light sabers to face him before Mace simply force crushes his ribs. But between that scene and this one, it builds up both Grievous & Windu. Grievous knowing that he could easily handle all 5 jedi at once, yet recognizing Windu as far superior and requiring his full efforts.
@@bobafett8768 It also annoys me that there are people wanking grievous to be stronger than Windu in lightsaber combat, they're like "WIndu was so scared of Grievous that's why he immediately resorted to using the force, there's no way Windu can keep up with someone who can spin sabers twenty times a second" but then they forget that Windu and Sidious were described by Anakin to be blurs and Anakin himself also has insane reaction speed so Windu could defintely keep up with Grievous using lightsabers
AdmiralOctopus- Agreed friend. I liked Grievous, but THIS is what we needed to see. A Jedi killing machine that's pretty much the Grim Reaper with Lightsabers. Even if it's pretty OP, this is how Grievous goes on a hunt.
+Finbar Brolly 2003 Grievous being OP actually made sense if you think about it. The CIS needed some kind of OP balancing factor against the jedi who effortlessly destroyed countless platoons of battle droids by themselves. It honestly made no sense that the CIS were even a threat with how ludicrously superior the jedi and clone army were in every way. Having a smart, powerful leader who could tip these scales would explain how the CIS were a threat; a role that Grievous was supposed to fulfill in this series.
joshua kim Well the Jedi got their asses kicked at geonosis before the clones arrived so I don’t think that is the reason, or at least the only reason. More like they needed a competent general and the Jedi killer badass was a plus.
I wish we could have kept this version of Grievous canon. Notice how he seems to fight almost impulsively. If you've ever seen HK-47's tips on how to kill Jedi, he'll tell you that you want to be spontaneous and make stuff up on the spot so that the Jedi can't predict what you'll do next.
Aight this just reminded me that the Reason why Taskmaster is afraid to face Deadpool is because he's too insane and unpredictable so he can't copy his fighting style which is literally what he does to beat people...but since that doesn't work well can't do much against him So basically give Deadpool two lightsabers and watch him kill Jedi for fun
I remember one comic, one of my favorites, where he captured a bunch of Padawans and planned to turn them into cyborgs like himself. He had the entire Ugnaut population on the world herded into one area, and when a Padawan mouthed off, had her watch as he blow up the building. It's one of my favorites because, despite being a tragic villain, it still made Grievous a terrifying, monstrous foe.
Yes, he is. He's just born in a time where he's not being appreciated because well, he refuses idealized characters and ideas. In short, his work prompts questions and not answers, which producers (propagandists) hate.
@@Marcara081What is blud actually waffling about?! Tartakovsky is plenty admired today. The very comment you responded to was only 8 months ago as of this reply! No idea what narrative this is you've created here of his victimization.
I love how Grievous used fear, intimidation, and surprise like Dooku taught him. Fear was from him stopping the droid assault, intimidation from his speech, and surprise was a by product of pulling the prior two off perfectly.
I mean he coukd have just used the droid army to finish them but he wanted to prove how strong he was (and to his credit very thoroughly accomplished that)
Pepe's Kebabs this will always be canon to me regardless of what Disney says. This show was my introduction to the Star Wars universe, I watched it before I even saw any of the movies. What Disney considers canon has no effect on what I consider canon. As far as I'm concerned, the entire sequel trilogy is non-canon, because it's just a massive streaming pile of SJW crap.
The sheer terror and desperation in ki adi mundi’s voice when he says “shoot him down, shoot him down!” Is such good voice acting. He had just witnessed this monster brutally murder 3 of his friends and critically injure 2 others.
Makes it even better when dooku said you must break them. He made ki adi mundi hysterical and anxiously fearful. Especially since he was trying to be the more level headed one in the group
Same with Fordo's "Backup NOW!" Line. Like it's one of the few times where is a hint of panic in his voice. Not even when he was being overrun on Coruscant did he have that hint of concern
The sheer awesomeness when he called for backup and the ship near instantly blows through the hull of the wreckage as the music cuts out and grevious stares down the ship… it’s unreal!
Pepe's Kebabs To be fair, he kind of reedemed himself on the comics, killing Mother Talzin and doing pretty well against Asajj Ventress. But this Grievous is still badass.
2:34 I love how well depicted the difference of stature between Padawan, Knight and Master is. The padawans sweating and jerking his head left and right with his saber drawn, the knight has his weapon drawn too but is steady and on guard, while the Master doesn't even have his saber on and is just listening.
@@kreuzer9877 But you can tell the difference. The Master is on guard, and is listening, while the Padawan is terrified, and paranoid. Maybe they both are sweating, but there's a clear difference in their behavior.
The fact grievous got kiadi mundi the absolute pllar of jedi orthodoxy pissing his pants in fear and demanding his clones that grievous be shot down is a testament to just how remarkable grievous is in his element. His major downfall was taking a direct approach to combat , counter to door's teachings
Also the fact grievous is not force compatible at all. Though there was a side story I read were it basically implied before he underwent the surgery to become the cyborg his body was force sensitive but it's now lost to him cause well he's 95% machine now
@@yesshh2952 That was in a Canon comic. In Legends, it's a bit different. It's somewhat implied that Grievous was mildly Force sensitive and that it didn't change after he became a cyborg. He saw visions of the future, was able to sense Anakin's emotions and single him out among countless Republic starfighters during a space battle and felt the essense of the Jedi he killed in their lightsabers that he collected. Altough it's really unconfirmed.
It speaks volumes about how terrifying Grievous is when you take into consideration the Jedi ARE NOT supposed to want anybody's death and yet here was a Jedi MASTER desperately ordering the clones to shoot him down
+Kaiser Franz Josef I true, but he didn't kick as much ass. I liked the bit where he killed the Jedi with a blaster while they were in a sabre-lock, though - that was awesome.

+Buğra Alparslan He was obviously far more intelligent, cunning, and even honorable in this series of the Clone Wars. in the new cgi series, hes sadistic, cowardly, and an idiot. should have kept him the way he was in this cartoon.
The fact that it took an ambush from an ENTIRE platoon, INCLUDING their aircraft, to make him commence a TACTICAL retreat really goes to show how much of a badass Grievous is.
@owenvanbokhorst4174 Then he casually with almost zero effort kills like 3 of em. Dude, just...killed...three of the best clones ever made, one man armies like it was a standered Tuesday....

Cus Lucas didn’t want a Vader copy walking around which sucks this Grevious was so cool…. And we didn’t even get to see Vader do anything cool like this all Vader is is a slow fighting robot man who fights like the 1980s films
This is the REAL Grievous. When I tell people that one of my favorite Star Wars characters is "General Grievous," this is the one I'm talking about. He doesn't make many appearances, but he's the best new villain of the prequels when he's living up to his full potential as a character.
This will always be my favorite Grievous too, but given that every single other appearance is far less impressive I think we have to assume he just isn't this good. I wish they had done this scene with 5 unnamed Jedi and one council member, that would fit within the legends told about Grievous and explain why everyone is so afraid of him. But taking on 3 *master* jedi while they're backed up by 2 other knights? Even this Grievous should have lost, right? Idk this is such an amazing scene and such a fun Grievous to watch so maybe there's an argument that makes him the better portrayal, but a part of me feels like we're lying to ourselves.
@@SmokeyMountainSuccubus I think it's fair that he did what he did, because part of his tactics are fear and demoralization. He cornered them, psyched them out, then did a classic divide and conquer with overwhelming force and surprising tactics. In some ways, their numbers worked against them because they were trying to defend one another and rushed in to fight. Every engagement was on Grievous' terms.
4:37 That second where he was utterly shocked at Grievous’ 3 lightsaber stance using his own lightsaber was so impactful. Yes, on its own it is a very simple very shocked expression, but the context of the reaction being from a master jedi realising he is fighting a complete monster of an opponent and that it matches perfectly with Grievous’ other blue lightsaber gave me chills. It shows how unbelievably powerful Grievous is and how he really is a monstrous jedi hunter.
@@Anunnamedtank yeah, he just uses them when shit gets real 🤣 in this faithful to the lore version of Grievous he doesn't need to use all his arms for the Jedi he fought. I'd say he'd need all 4 arms to fight people like Windu, Yoda, or a more mature Anakin. Cuz those 3 were powerful duelists
One thing I love about this fight is we get to see Grevious' tactical mind at play too. He opens up the fight in a demoralising way by killing the Padawan and quickly identifies Ki Adi Mundi as the leader. There he ambushes them and tries to take out Ki Adi first but when he pushes Ki Adi to using his force abilities, he switches to evasive manoeuvres and avoids the masters until he has taken out the other lesser jedi. From there he uses his spinning blades and unorthodox fighting style to disoriente the exhausted jedi and isolate them. He wasn't yellow in Revenge of the Sith, he was still White, just not as clean as he was here. Since according to the message from the Jedi who asked Obi-wan for help, this was Grievous' first battle or so.
I love his contrast with the background! Makes him stand out even more and shows how different he is from all the other darker, dirty looking characters. Shows that he hasn’t been effected by this fight like they have.
Can we just talk about how OP this guy is? Come on. He killed all the padawans, took out several clone troopers and almost killed the rest. He would have if the gunship didn’t come in. And what damage did he take? Just a ripped cape. This is the General Grievous I know. Also can we take a moment to listen to the music that’s playing through this? It’s horrifying.
The crazy thing? He's isn't just simply OP. He's a smart fighter. Agility and reflexes aside, that is the genius behind Grievous' unorthodox fighting style. He's intimidating the Jedi by keeping on them and storming them with unrelenting force to make them break their guard. Moreso, he adds to it with his entrance, scaring the Jedi by abruptly ambushing them and stomping Sha'a Gi into the dirt. His unpredictability makes him scary. Dooku taught him this particular style to throw the Jedi off their game, demoralize them, and take advantage of their wavering state to cut them down.
The real payoff of that scene isn't the combat, but the reaction shot when the troopers see Darth Fucking Vader ready to kill all of them. Fear incarnate.
Everything about him is terrifying in this scene, he’s easily 9 feet tall plus the style he was built with is angular and inspires the look of wickedly curved Africa tribal blades or the scimitar. Plus the fact that he can easily wield 4 blades is especially horrifying.
I can understand why Lucas wanted Grevous to be a sick weakened character who resorted to running away by Episode III; because of what Mace Windu did to him at coruscant. But for the life of me i'll never understand why the clone wars felt the need to nerf him so much. I mean Grievous was defeated so easily in the series, that it made the threat he represented almost null by the time Episode III came around.
+Pepe's Kebabs If anything, the only real things nerfed regarding Grievous is his intelligence. Dooku's training lesson makes it clear that Grievous only performs THIS well when the jedi have been exhausted, scared, and beaten. So, this version of Grievous uses those before engaging jedi, getting good results. However, the 2008+ TCW version of Grievous doesn't use these tactics as Dooku trained him to, making him much more prone to losing because he didn't wear down his opponents like he did here. In the 2008+ series, Grievous is too flaunty and bombastic and thus ignores Dooku's advice. In this series, Grievous is much more reserved and kind of shy, making him follow Dooku's advice almost religiously. Both depictions are equally strong and skilled, but this version simply sticks to the methods that he was taught, rather than letting his ego get the better of him like the 2008+ version.
Pepe's Kebabs He WAS nerfed. Grievous killed only a single Jedi onscreen in the course of the entire series, and even then, it was with such a shitty technique that it made him look like even more of a coward.
+TheHorreK2 ever since he decided to quit working with the gang and thought this would make more money. jk the reason he is in there I cause the creators wanted to give a nod to the Scooby do series thus putting him here and spelling his name sha'a gi
Shaak Ti deployed a force shield which cushioned Grievous's strike enough to prevent her being cut to ribbons but the cyborg's brute strength still batted her into the wreckage
One thing that really exemplifies why this grevious is such a powerhouse is just how agile he is. Yes, he uses fear tactics and uses his cyborg body is significantly cooler ways than otherwise seen (My guy literally wall runs and uses his feet to both attack and hold things) but I think it wouldn't be nearly as impactful without his ridiculous amounts of agility. His unorthodox fighting style is only achieved due to the high maneuverability of his actions. If only 2008 allowed grevious to fight like this
It’s a bit unfortunate that the producers planned General Grievous to be cunning, but a coward. I didn’t mind it as a kid. But now, I wished they made him stronger towards the end of The Clone Wars, as this would have explained how he gained the strength to defeat Shaak Ti during Revenge of the Sith.
Not only that but he’s overly agile, nimble and fast despite weighing almost the same as an adult rhino, when he lands in the middle of the Jedi he makes the ground rumble and scatters dust around, my man heavy as hell yet he’s strong enough to be THAT agile and acrobatic, this iteration of Grievous is a freaking *demon*
It's because Mace Windu crushed his lungs at the end of the 2003 series. Plus, they had to dial him back or he would be too tough to work into the movie (although with good writing they could have done it.)

This state also slows down their vitals, and makes them appear to be dead (hence why he was not recovered along with the other surviving Jedi, as they assumed he was dead). K’Kruhk came back later on in the Clone Wars and was even strong enough to survive Order 66. Hell, he was able to survive both the Galactic Civil War and the Yuuzhan Vong Invasion.

Gungans are armed with EMP weapons, perfect for dealing with someone who’s entire body is made of metal and circuitry. They are also skilled warriors, having maintained a standing army for a long time. And there were a LOT of them. Grievous would have been overpowered eventually, even if he killed three times more than he did in the actual scene. I personally like to believe that he put up much more of a fight, and the Gungans’ feat is simply exaggerated on-screen.
Gendy Tartacovsky’s 2003 Clone Wars had the most accurate portrayal of Grievous. A ruthless, efficient Jedi killer who used fear tactics and aggressive attacks to overwhelm Jedi. This show is what made me fall in love with General Grievous as a character. He just doesn’t live up to his reputation in any of the other films. Wish we saw more of him in the 2003s clone wars show.
I genuinely wondered how 2008 grievous even got the job done, man out here losing to anyone slightly above Padawan level. Then losing to crackhead pirates, snail-amphibian people, and a rather unprepared Ahsoka. There's also that one exploding ship part where plot armor saved his metal ass because for some dumb reason, obi wan decided to warn grievous the ship was going to explode instead of being smart and letting him die. Why do I get the feeling Cartoon Network intentionally put that in their to remind kids to watch whatever short lived Scooby Doo series they were doing at that time?
I think the coolest thing in Grievous’ fighting style is the way he utilizes his feet, he’s so articulate and acrobatic and it reminds me a lot of Raiden from Metal Gear
I dont remember everything but he comes from a warrior tribe and goes hard. Hear he's got a good team that supports his endeavors and in noway would cripple him
"SHOOT HIM DOWN!! SHOOT HIM DOWN!!" Man for the one to say steady and stay calm to end up like this, he actually looked desperate and a little traumatised
Aris Aris well he did just witness Grievous take down all his allies with such ease. Pretty sure even a Jedi would be unsettled by such quick and ruthless massacre.
I mean, he was right. He recognized that Grevious was a huge threat and this might be their only shot at him by himeself. if they actually were able to kill Grevious here it would have probably shortened the war by years
As of Rogue One: Catalyst, this fight actually *is* canon. Hypori appears in the book, and this ambush was mentioned as having taken place. The book also references Darth Plagueis a bit as well, like Tarkin did. Thanks, James Luceno!
+Doc Von Doom Color is chosen by what the Jedi specializes in. Green is for those who prefer Force powers, and blue is for those that prefer lightsaber dueling abilities.
What I like about Grevious is that he isn't force sensitive. He has no supernatural powers or advantages, yet he beats jedi. He's a better swordsman and he needs no sorcerous tricks to win.
Bro cost more then a star destroyer, alone. His body is the absolute bleeding edge of science. Vader is a walking joke by comparison. Grievous' body can tank a starship shot and those robo-limbs can outpace a jedi's foresight and confound them with mathematically scrambled attack patterns. He's well trained by a master of anti-lightsaber combat and further refined by sith psychological warfare doctrine. But more then half of our mans strength comes from literally no expense being spared to build a machine capable of outpacing the force.
HERMIEkid He was a proud warrior of a people whose planet was attacked by a race of sentient insect creatures. They initially drove off the creatures mercilessly but the insects appealed to the Jedi pretending that they were innocently defending themselves. The Jedi fought against Grievous’ people and he himself was injured in an explosion but survived. Mangled and robbed of a warrior’s death he agreed to be rebuilt as a cyborg and lead the separatists’ armies to get revenge on the Jedi
+Ryan I'm I know but they also showed his base in the CG clone wars where he had a replacement for everything, so i don't see why he could not of been healed/fixed back to 100% by his med droid.

Can't begin to express how much this scene changed my life when it came to drawing and writing. It's pretty much perfect. So many elements are at play, every character has a personality and every emotion they wanted you to feel, you felt it....all in like a 3 minute time frame.
charles Receski The 2008 series even nerfed Greivous's design. He looks way less intimidating in that show for some reason. Even ROTS Greivous didn't have that problem.
He reminded me of something else until i realised the only thing similar to what i thought he looked like was the white color and his joke of a waist and arms.
You're so right. I always thought he was more reptile-like but at certain angles that mask even looks like the face of a barn owl. The legs and talons too very predatory bird-like
@@zelkuta The most brutal kills of General Grievous stayed off screen. He had already been an active combatant by the time the batlle of Geonosis happened. His mission was to stay out of sight, hidden in the catacombs, and kill any Jedi Knight or clone commando who would get too close to the Separatist Council. Since he had no lightsabers yet, he had to do it with his bare hands. It is stated that the Republic agents have later found piles of corpses strewn about, looking as if they had been mauled to death by a pack of wild animals or torn apart by a Geonosian sonic blaster.
Only reason that they had to Nerf him was so they did not have to make up Names for all the Jedi he killed.... But come on He was the first Jedi mass murder that made it cool. Sure Vader had his glory is is the Icon. But Grevious was just... Cooler? Please don't murder me.
I wholly agree, plus we never really get to really see Vader killing Jedi other than in comics. This was the first visceral murdering of Jedi on video, and it's freakin badass.
Thobias Sandst CGI limitations had to nerf him due to the complex and fast movement he had to be doing is difficult so we had to have him weak due to BUDGET COSTS
Thobias Sandst some of the characters in this werent just throw away jedi that were killed actually speaking the 2nd Jedi that was struck down didnt actually die in this fight he shows up again in star wars legends after this encounter and even goes on too being apart of the new jedi order when luke becomes the grandmaster and even goes on too train even more future generations
For those wondering how Kenobi easily took out Grievous, remember Kenobi was a master in defensive lightsaber style which allows opponents to make the first move and then counters. In a way, Kenobi was the perfect counter to him. That’s why the council sent him instead of Anakin to fight Grievous.
Actually the supposed reason he won was not only that but he completely gave himself over to the force and that he wasnt really fighting as much as he was letting the force guide his movements.
He was already moved away from being portrayed as a cowardly leader and focused on being one of the most suffered characters in his past that he adopted the name "Grievous" as a sign that he would remain sad for the rest of his life.

Glitch_FACE exactly, this is why Star Wars is the main universe that could contend with 40k. After which Halo would probably be the next best contender.
slight oddball but doctor who would probably be a fair fight if you just dropped both contenders of the time war, in their mid time war state, onto different ends of the galaxy (and removed time travel for obvious reasons)
Glitch_FACE of course once you put characters like Magnus the Red, Konrad Curze, and Sanguinius into the situation, then that is where even the most powerful sith and Jedi would struggle.
Ms. Marble 'Inkie' PieTM He does that the overwhelm his opponent into submission. General Grievous uses speed and fear to his advantage since he can't use the force to fight Jedi.
Have to come back to this moment from time to time, even 20+ years later. Tartakovsky really gave us the absolute best depiction of how terrifying and menacing Grievous was meant to be. Those multiple robotic arms and erratic movement perfectly being too much for Seasoned Jedi masters to handle. Like this '03 show had Mace Windu Singlehandedly take out an entire army of Klankers just to follow up with several jedi murdered by Grievous.
Same with magna gaurds and anti jedi droids
you can analyze the crap out of this fight just to see how Grevious fights. example
Fear tactics: 2:49 (more then once honestly)
Divide and conquer: 3:25
staggering opponents/keeping opponents unfocused: 3:39
also keeping opponents off guard by keeping tactics of fighting unpredictable
man i wish this Grievous was cannon....

And though hypotheticals probably don't matter much, it might be worth noting that most other jedi probably wouldn't do that if they got the jump on Grievous since jedi are only supposed to use the force for defense, but Mace has no chill.

@@keremtukel8178 He did. By the time he was training with Dooku before the battle of Geonosis he already had the split lines on his arms.
Conversely, when Mace Windu engaged him during the Battle of Corusant, Grievous immediately takes out all 4 light sabers to face him before Mace simply force crushes his ribs. But between that scene and this one, it builds up both Grievous & Windu. 2003 Grievous being OP actually made sense if you think about it.
Ooh, good point. Grevious seems very skilled at moving faster than one can think.
Aight this just reminded me that the Reason why Taskmaster is afraid to face Deadpool is because he's too insane and unpredictable so he can't copy his fighting style which is literally what he does to beat people...but since that doesn't work well can't do much against him

i feel like if you're fighting 6 jedi you'd wanna use 4 lightsabers
One thing I love about this fight is we get to see Grevious' tactical mind at play too. He opens up the fight in a demoralising way by killing the Padawan and quickly identifies Ki Adi Mundi as the leader.
There he ambushes them and tries to take out Ki Adi first but when he pushes Ki Adi to using his force abilities, he switches to evasive manoeuvres and avoids the masters until he has taken out the other lesser jedi. From there he uses his spinning blades and unorthodox fighting style to disoriente the exhausted jedi and isolate them. When he is ambushed by the arc troopers he quickly resorts back to evasion and tries to close the distance asap and calls it game only when the gunship arrives.

MZX Omega he was a tarnish yellow
MZX Omega tanish
I love his contrast with the background! Makes him stand out even more and shows how different he is from all the other darker, dirty looking characters. Shows that he hasn’t been effected by this fight like they have.
Can we just talk about how OP this guy is? Come on. He killed all the padawans, took out several clone troopers and almost killed the rest. He would have if the gunship didn’t come in. And what damage did he take? Just a ripped cape. This is the General Grievous I know. Also can we take a moment to listen to the music that’s playing through this? It’s horrifying.
He looked like he was gonna launch up and slice the gunship too, his footing looked like he was gonna rush at it not run.
If you can see he does unusual moves during the fight so as to not look predictable to the Jedi managing to confuse them and catch them off guard
Also known to the Jedi as " _Why do I hear boss music?_ "
Also consider the fact that he held lightsabers with his feet (didn’t once have to resort to the four arms) and he CAUGHT A LIGHTSABER IN MID-AIR
This makes me think of the recent epic Darth Vader scene in Rogue One. Brutal and terrifying
Both had no competition and both were slaughters
Victor M That Vader scene was disappointing, heard that Vader goes crazy, but we only see him for a few seconds
The real payoff of that scene isn't the combat, but the reaction shot when the troopers see Darth Fucking Vader ready to kill all of them. Fear incarnate.
Victor M actually the scene was only that. Btw when disney made the reshoots they added that scene because it wasn't in the movie before.

Payden Haught actually, if you look closer, you can see that Grievous has at least 5 lightsabers in his waist
He was just entertaining.
He didn't have the other two arms at the time
Everything about him is terrifying in this scene, he’s easily 9 feet tall plus the style he was built with is angular and inspires the look of wickedly curved Africa tribal blades or the scimitar.

+Pepe's Kebabs
If anything, the only real things nerfed regarding Grievous is his intelligence.
Reason is simple.this cartoon here while badass is not canon.
Pepe's Kebabs
He WAS nerfed. Grievous killed only a single Jedi onscreen in the course of the entire series, and even then, it was with such a shitty technique that it made him look like even more of a coward.

Sgt.Grinner not all the time but mace crush grevious lungs so that what made him weak
As of Rogue One: Catalyst, this fight actually *is* canon.
Hypori appears in the book, and this ambush was mentioned as having taken place.
The book also references Darth Plagueis a bit as well, like Tarkin did.
Thanks, James Luceno!
Grievous LITERALLY Stomped out that Padiwan... 2:48
+Ix Blind but he had a green Jedi Master sword...
Green Light Sabers aren't "Jedi Master Swords" ....
+Ix Blind Yoda wields a green one.....
Green doesnt mean "Master" and it has nothing to do with what level they are on. its a symbol of what type of Jedi he is.
Instead he needs wildly superhuman attributes and durability.
Artificial super powers, but super powers nonetheless.
General Grievous making his entrance by killing the Star Wars universe's version of Shaggy Rogers? Awesome *and* terrifying at the same time.
Maximus4587 Shaggy's last name was Roger's? who would of known
And his first name is Norville.
He is name is Shaa'Gi.
irkenus it actually is
If you know Grievous's backstory, then this is the most satisfying scene in the show
al Mamlūk agreed
al Mamlūk Yup
How so?
HERMIEkid He was a proud warrior of a people whose planet was attacked by a race of sentient insect creatures. They initially drove off the creatures mercilessly but the insects appealed to the Jedi pretending that they were innocently defending themselves. The Jedi fought against Grievous’ people and he himself was injured in an explosion but survived. Mangled and robbed of a warrior’s death he agreed to be rebuilt as a cyborg and lead the separatists’ armies to get revenge on the Jedi
Oh
Nice
the greivous we all wanted to see in the movies but was greatly denied and disappointed :(
+Ryan I'm I know but they also showed his base in the CG clone wars where he had a replacement for everything, so i don't see why he could not of been healed/fixed back to 100% by his med droid.
+Ryan Im The reason is irrelevant. They chose to make him weak and they chose to portray him as weak in the movies when they could have made him the monster he should have been.
+Matthew Warren his lungs were crushed, one of the only ogans he possesses
+Super Maddud as i said to someone else, I know but they also showed his base in the CG clone wars where he had a replacement for everything, so i don't see why he could not of been healed/fixed back to 100% by his med droid.
+Ryan Im Yeah but by the time he went to Utapau and fought Kenobi he would have been repaired and at full strength
Can't begin to express how much this scene changed my life when it came to drawing and writing. It's pretty much perfect. So many elements are at play, every character has a personality and every emotion they wanted you to feel, you felt it....all in like a 3 minute time frame.
General Grievous's visage always had that eerie resemblance to a barn owl, except with a metal body and lightsabers
charles Receski The 2008 series even nerfed Greivous's design. He looks way less intimidating in that show for some reason. Even ROTS Greivous didn't have that problem.
@@SolarDragon007 He has 4 fingers per each hand (when he has 2) and is 6 feet shorter.
He reminded me of something else until i realised the only thing similar to what i thought he looked like was the white color and his joke of a waist and arms.
You're so right. I always thought he was more reptile-like but at certain angles that mask even looks like the face of a barn owl. The legs and talons too very predatory bird-like
Mace Windu nerfed this man so hard he completely changed his personality
Bro made him russian
I love bad writing
severe emotional/mental trauma can do that
Maybe that's why
He underestimated jedis but after getting crushed by mace he got ptsd
@@stefdiazdiaz7067more like bad writing
I don’t care what anyone says, this is the single greatest scene in all of Star Wars.
For me.... well, yeah, is a the best XD Close second, is Vader at the of Rouge One, that was.... magnificent!
@@euroanez998 If there’s ever a Grievous movie, it needs to have a scene referencing that.
Vader with 4 (or even 5) lightsabers. _shudders_
Lucas' biggest mistake was not having this version of Grievous in the movies.
@@euroanez998 totally agreed, that was amazing!
@@grendel3218 Grievous was only in one movie though, right? (Revenge of the Sith)
The Kill at 4:00 might be the most brutal kill in any star wars media. Imagine Disney giving that the green these days.
He did the same thing in Clone Wars 2003, albeit EVEN MORE BRUTAL
I think Acolyte topped that
@@zelkuta The most brutal kills of General Grievous stayed off screen.
Hey I agree, besting a Jedi in lightsaber combat when you can't use the Force means you are a true badass in my book.
Thobias Sandst "I find your lack of faith disturbing." -Darth Vader
For those wondering how Kenobi easily took out Grievous, remember Kenobi was a master in defensive lightsaber style which allows opponents to make the first move and then counters. In a way, Kenobi was the perfect counter to him. That’s why the council sent him instead of Anakin to fight Grievous.
The movie does a rather poor job at showcasing the fight and how it was supposed to mechanically work compared to the novelization.
KennyD or maybe just plot armor
Or maybe not plot armour
Actually the supposed reason he won was not only that but he completely gave himself over to the force and that he wasnt really fighting as much as he was letting the force guide his movements.
And also Windu had badly injured him only days prior.
It was at this moment(2:46) Sha'a Gi knew...he fucked up.
+DW_Nox His best friend, Scubi Du will mourn him.

"i will grant you a warriors death"
vs
"time to abandon ship"
He was already moved away from being portrayed as a cowardly leader and focused on being one of the most suffered characters in his past that he adopted the name "Grievous" as a sign that he would remain sad for the rest of his life.
This is just 7 minutes of grievous being a badass and killing Jedi.
Even though there are no gore, those deaths are still brutal. Why cartoons can't be like this anymore?
ikr
We got LGBT couples tho

Gennady tarvosky was the producer of this show. He has always been heavy on action, that’s why he doesn’t get the recognition he deserves.

How grievous should have been

@@GhaniKeSawah He wouldn’t have been because of plot armor. What would likely happen is that they would either send Obi Wan and he would barely escape, or they’d have just sent someone else to fight him on Utapau.
So basically a necron lord.
Awesome.
Glitch_FACE now that is a matchup I would like to see.
tbh whenever people talk about Warhammer vs Star wars they always forget one fact. There are enough canon OP characters in star wars history to at least take luna, and from there they could easily petition the chaos gods or something.
To this day this chapter I just cant over of how fucking insane he fights...
HE USES HIS FEET AS EXTRA HANDS.
Liaminator. Useing his feet was a bit showing off.
I know but still he was showing off a bit by doing that
Female Flowey The Flower™ it's a form of intimidation.
