This could actually be the best song of the 1980's...
I agree
It's a great song but the best. NO ua-cam.com/video/Lo2qQmj0_h4/v-deo.html
Exactly, this song still entertain us almost 4 decades later.
Tears for fears "HEAD OVER HEALS" and "SHOUT" ❤❤
This song brings back so many memories and transports me back to the 80's!
-#cheers-- !-
indeed
#cheers !
The blessed 80's
It's hard not to get a smile on your face watching these two and listening to classics like this.
Their lyrics "So glad we almost made it, So sad they had to fade it.."
That's a jab at the radio industry at the time, that asked them to cut off like 8 seconds of their song, otherwise they'd have to fade it out.
Not only is it an awesome song with deep meaning, it goes even deeper with that little Easter Egg lyric they put in.
Nobody got to hear the full complete version on the radio back then, they literally did fade it out.
_"So glad we almost made it, So sad they had to fade it.." - *fate it**
@@blaze1148 No, the lyric literally says fade it. It was a jab at the radio stations that told them their song was a bit too long for their allowed radio time slot, and if they didn't shorten the song then they would have to fade it out early.
@@southernflatland ahh ok thanks.
It's such a well written, well performed song.
After all these years, this is still just such a good vibe!
This song was so 80s, it was all over the radio back in the day. As relevant as it was back in the 80s, it's still just as relevant today.
I enjoyed how she got excited about the phone booth. I'm an old G and when I tell my kids that back in the day we had at least 15 to 20 phone numbers committed to memory and they think it's impossible to remember that many phone numbers.
Seven digits though
Roland Orzabal is an underappreciated guitarist. Imho, Tears for Fears is one of the most musically talented groups ever!
Possibly the quinnessential 80s pop song. An absolute classic gem
The have a live version they performed fairly recently. They sound just as amazing as they did back in the 80s. 40 years later and still killing it. Check it out
If you're talking about the anniversary performance, holy CRAP! They haven't lost a step! ^_^
saw it and was shocked at how it sounded so good for their age! It was easy as good as original
Saw them live on the Tipping Point Tour last summer. They were amazing 😊
I knew that bro
Tears For Fears had a bunch of bangers.
It was massive, in both the UK and USA. Real feel-good.
Great reaction! One of the best pop songs ever written. Funny story, TFF were in the final stages of recording 'Songs From the Big Chair', when Roland Orzabal (sp?) came up with this little two-chord vamp. Their producer heard it, loved it, and encouraged him to develop it into a song. He wasn't very interested, who can blame him, he'd just recorded a very complicated album, but the producer convinced him to give it a shot. Turned out to be one of the defining songs of the '80s and the biggest hit TFF ever had. You just never know when and where lightning will strike. ^_~
So, according to Quincy Jones, this is the song that inspired Michael Jackson to write "The Way You Make Me Feel." The groove is very similar.
You should also check out “Sowing The Seeds Of Love”, and “Woman In Chains” from the album after this one. Tears for Fears first three albums were all incredible.
I wore this song out back in the 80s. I played it all the time. I never get tired of it. Tears for Fears was my favorite band "back in the day". Love your reaction!
So good! This is such a quintessential 80's sound.
Saw them last year and they still sound great. Probably gonna see them again in July. This song is one of the best pop songs period.
Let's all go back to the 80's. PLEASE!!!
The 80s memories and feelings that this brings back to me are absolutely amazing. I was in Sacramento, and what a fun time it was!
I was in the Army in West Berlin. Glorious
Way B4 the Goddamn World lost their addled minds! I was in my 2nd year @UArizona. What great times, not like now with this Asylum CLuster F*uck Mess. Good grief.
@@OldMusicFan83 I was in West Berlin too... father was in the Air Force... such great memories
I'm an MTV viewer from the beginning. I so remember this video, plus I have the vinyl version of this album forever.
Great reaction to a fabulous song, tears for fears were such a great band and still going now......🙂
Nice to hear some 80's reaction. A great decade for music.
It’s those first few bars of the intro that hook you into this song which for me personally is possibly thee best pop song ever recorded because you had to be a young person living through this 1980’s decade to appreciate what you were listening to at the time.
I think the meaning of the song is that when you're free and able to indulge every whim - flying a glider, riding bikes in the desert, driving a convertible sports car...unburdened with worries about work, illness, politics...you feel like the world is in the palm of your hand. Everybody aspires to be the king of his own kingdom...everybody wants the luxury of time, health, money to live unburdened by worldly things. It is a feel good song - I agree with that sentiment. It is these young guys who were living that kind of lifestyle when they wrote and performed this song. And it was symbolic of the '80s - a decade thought of as a time of greed and over indulgence (somewhat unfairly IMHO). These guys were lov'n life and they were singing about it. Great song - fresh faced young guys enjoying good clean living.
They had several mega hits in the 80’s. One of the best bands from the decade.
Just another brilliant British band, we've got hundreds of them.
THE TITLE IS ABSOLUTELY TRUE ABOUT OUR WORLD !!!
Even for a Metal head like me, I thoroughly enjoy this song.
Why would a metal head not enjoy this song?
What a great song. I'm 71 now, and it's still on my all time favorite list.
They put out a new album of ALL NEW MUSIC in 2022 and it's incredible. They sound better now than they did in the '80s. The album is called "The Tipping Point," and though the entire album is great, make sure to watch the official videos for "Break The Man," "The Tipping Point," and "Rivers of Mercy" (be prepared to cry for the last one). Also find a live version of My Demons during the 2022 US tour (they went to the UK, too, but the lighting isn't as good). Loved the song, but the stage lighting in the US was mind blowing. Yay for y'all enjoying TFF!!
All the young people i watch react to this song and video, it always brings a smile to the faces of the reactors, including you two.😊 I love it.
Michael Jackson sampled the bass line for ‘The Way You Make Me Feel’
They had 3 monster hits in 1985 they were inescapable: Everybody Wants to Rule the World, Shout, and Head Over Heels
These guys discovered Oleta Adams singing in a club here in Kansas City one night after one of their concerts. She had a hit song in the late 80's or 90 called "Get Here"
I showed this song to my 8 year old granddaughter and now she loves it too.
You’re right, it was from the movie Real Genius starring Val Kilmer.
I think this might be the best song ever written
Great song from one of the best bands and albums of that era, they have many good tunes, try Head Over Heels next, they have incredible vocals and a crack band that continues to this day. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
This song was played in at least 4 big movie hits! That shows how it's creates the perfect mood!
End of Real Genius?
@@OldMusicFan83 That’s a fun movie and yes it was in the movie.
If not the best song of the 80's def in the top 5.
This song has a beachy vibe for me, especially since back in the song's heyday in the 80's, I heard it blasting from a stereo while at the beach in Galveston, Texas. That memory has always stuck in my mind for me. A good memory I must say.
Classic Tears for Fears, I saw them at the Fox in Atlanta 1985
The sports car in the video is an Austin-Healey 3000. A car built from 1959 to 1967.
My dad back in the late '50s owned the model that preceded it, the Austin-Healey 100-4. The most obvious visual difference between the two was the shape of the grill.
It was played at the end of the movie "Real Genius" featuring Val Kilmer.
❤❤im an 80s girl, these two are brothers
The 80's were a special time we didn't appreciate, now I miss it.....
05:08 __ You mention, "Dollar forty-five for gas," from back in the 80s. When I was in high school in the mid/late 60s, gas was 25-cents a gallon. I drove a Volkswagen Beetle with a 10-gallon tank. A fill-up was $2.50 and would last a week! ;o)
Massive British band
In high school 1982-86. Such memories from this song.
One Of My Favourite Song Of The 80s
the world economic forum favorite song.
😂😂
ALL TEARS FOR FEARS SONGS---
SHOUT
WOMAN IN CHAINS
HEAD OVER HEELS
MAD WORLD
CHANGE
PALE SHELTER
SOWING THE SEEDS OF LOVE
THE BIG CHAIR Are all FIRE🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
About time you did some new wave. Also a lot of it is melancholy, sad/happy. Dance music.
Pale Shelter next please! It tops this one for me, and this is my favourite 80s song.
Tears For Fears are Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal. Curt sings lead vocal on Everybody Rules The World, but Roland sings the majority of their songs. Check out the glorious Woman In Chains which has Roland on lead vocal, the song has become a feminist anthem. Also check out Advice For The Young At Heart with Curt on lead Vocal, or Head Over Heels (Roland) or check out The Tipping Point which was released in 2022 and has both Curt and Roland singing throughout.
The first time I heard this song was during the end credits of the movie Real Genius.
ending song of the 80s movie ''real genius'', cast by val kilmer, gabriel jarret, and michelle meyrink.
Songs from the big chair is a great album
Such a classic tune, had just graduated HS. Soooo many great memories
Just saw them live a couple of days ago and caught a drum stick!!
I love the 80 s 70 etc no auto tune crap 💩 like today pure talent
LOL I remember gas being 19.9 cents when I got my license. We could run all night on a buck. LOL One benefit of being a 70 year old broad. ONE benefit. My teen years were the 60's. Graduated in 1971. Brother was still in Vietnam, lots of protesting & still civil rights issues, but our music was the best! Bob Seger, Bruce Springsteen, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Elvis, The Beatles and a zillion others..
you should listen to "Shout" or "head over heels" from them, next.
The phone booth, restaurant and dinosaurs were in a town called Cabazon. The restaurant and phone booth are gone, but the dinosaurs are still there. When he is singing by what looks like the ocean is probably actually the Salton Sea. And the sand dunes are just north of Palm Springs.
The song was in the movie Real Genius with Val Kilmer
The car is an Austin Healey. Very collectible British car. I love the song. I'm glad both main singers are working together again.
I was so excited to see you do Tears For Fears, I love them and they are still one of my favorite bands.
This is my favorite song from these guys. Head Over Heels, followed by Mad World is next. Shout is also very good, but for me it's one of those songs that I don't appreciate until I hear it again (does that make sense?) - like, if I am scrolling through my playlist, I'll look at Shout and think "meh", but if I actually PLAY it, then I remember why it's good.
Another good one is Laid So Low (Tears Roll Down).
80's and 90's are the best, glad I grew up in that time (teens and 20's)
Those three wheelers were death machines, but that was when kids were playing with lawn darts.
My favorite song from TFF and brings back so many memories as this album came out during my senior year in HS.
Yes it was used in a movie, lots of movies; Hunger games catching fire, Real genius, Ready player one, The lego batman movie. And a bunch of tv shows.
I remember driving my brother to watch a soccer game to cheer him up. He had just broken up with his long term girlfriend. I played him my mixes, we both DJ'd, he did Hip Hop and I did RnB. This song came on and Id mixed it with Warren G. There was a long pause as this came in.
This came out in 1985. $1.45 would have been expensive for gas then. I remember when I started driving in 1992, I could get get for $.99 on Long Island, NY.
I was in high school when this came out, but I was primarily a rocker so I laughed at groups like this!
i was also in HS...make you sad now realizing how lucky we were to be young and in the 80s...peace
Favorite song of all time
I recall it being played out when I was a teen.
Sowing the seeds of love
Thank you both for reacting to this song. This song means a lot to me because I play it all the time on my birthday. 😁😁😁
''SHOUT'' was very good also
They are still killing it…..” Tipping Point”, new album. Two great singers and talented band.Try “ Shout” or “ Head Over Heels”…. Two other great hits.
HE'S DRIVING A ROUTE INLAND SAN BERNARDINO TO VEGAS🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This song was used in the 1985 movie "Real Genius"
Great song on an equally GREAT ALBUM! Give it a listen. Such iconic classic songs from beginning to end.
It's funny you mention about hearing this song in a movie, when in fact it was featured at the end credits of the 1985 classic "Real Genius" starring Val Kilmer Gabe Jarret, Jonathan Gries (aka Uncle Rico; Napolean Dynamite) Michelle Meyrink, William Atherton (1984's Ghostbusters; 1998's Die Hard), Ed Lauter and Yuji Okumoto (Chozen; Karate Kid part 2 & Cobra Kai).
Shout is covered by Disturbed and Mad World by Adam Lambert
Great to see you react to this. For me, it’s my most favourite song ever, bar none
If you like lyrics or or just good music, The Who, are for you, try "Won't get fooled again" and "Who are you" for starters
1985 South Korea! i bought the album first day it was released!
Shout was the mega hit
growing up with 60's music I shocked myself when as i got in my 40's I could love this 80's stuff, It makes me smile to hear this, and I play it often, those were the years before the old bod starting giving out! 75 now!
This song has been a part of my life since I was 10 years old (1985) I played it until I wore the cassette out. I still listen to it regularly now.
So much fucking Nostalgia…. The texture of his voice makes me want to cry
I just found your channel and I'm so happy I did. Keep up the great work and there are so many more 80's bands you must delve into.
It's been in a few movies. I can't think of them off the top of my head. The song is about us desiring power/control as humans.
I know it from the end of Real Genius.
My all time favorite song ever...
Love you guys and your reaction videos. Really dig the wide variety you guys sample.
Its the bridge...the bridge is 🔥
