This is it!!! I have not been able to master ripple stitch but this I can do! Thank you, thank you. I go to a craft group where we crochet for charity. I like to do something different to the usual granny stitch that is done but as you can imagine there is a lot of chatter going on while we are crocheting. I need things that are not complicated yet look nice, that are easy for me to do while chatting. This one is really good. I love it.

This has quickly become one of my favorite stitches 🤩. It's so easy to memorize but looks complicated. This is the classic ripple stitch with a ridge and is ideal for beginners or if you have a project that you want to work up quickly without a lot of stress. If you've haven't tried this one yet, you must! 😍

Im making a scrap yarn blanket with this pattern, and I started it in a different way that gives me a straight edge that will be easy to work into when I make a border. I started with 144 foundation double crochet stitches, then turned and made a stacked single crochet as my first double crochet stitch of the row. Then I followed this repeat: 2 double crochet, 3 half double crochet, 2 single crochet, 3 half double crochet, 2 double crochet. After that I followed the pattern as it is, exept I started my rows with a stacked single crochet instead of a chain.

This is a nice pattern, thank you.😊
There are so many variations of the ripple stitch!
I am currently working on a wide scarf/ wrap in a ripple stitch using variagated yarn and it shows off the colours beautifully.
The pattern I am working on uses half double crochet stitches which automatically gives you a ridge without working in the back loop only. The pattern I am using skips two stitches in the dip. The only thing I don't like is that because of the way a half double crochet stitch is formed the gaps in the dip do not look symmetrical, and I like symetry! 😁
If I do another ripple stitch I would do one more like your pattern. It looks nicer.😊

Hi Roz!! I love this video!! I’ve been watching tons of ripple blanket videos for the last couple of days, trying to find someone who speaks very clearly, explains it very clearly, has a great camera in focus, the right color yarn that you’re using to teach with, etc., and yours is by far the best!!! I’m getting ready to start my very first crochet blanket project using your video and pattern!😱
I just want to point out, I really like those stitch markers that you are using in this video! They seem like they would be easier to insert and to remove with just one hand, and without it getting stuck. I hate the two types of markers I have! Can you possibly tell me where I can find the type you use? I’ve looked through Amazon a bit, and I don’t see anything like those. What gives?😉😁
Btw….what a fantastic suggestion to use the markers in both of the ways you mentioned….in the base chain stitches, and for marking the peaks & valleys. That should keep me from missing or losing a stitch!

Unfortunately, the only place I’ve found them is at Michaels .

They are made by Loops & Threads so you might be able to go to their website and order from there.

My question is about yarn..I’ve made a few afghans using dk weight acrylic yarn, and while I love the weight and ease in crocheting, I hate the pilling. That’s a great question on the yarn. I have to admit that I’m using the cotton because they work so well for the videos but I haven’t completed a full blanket with this yarn to give you an objective answer 😕
The closest I have used and washed is a yarn that is a blend of cotton with nylon (créme cotton by loops & threads) and I haven’t experienced any pilling.
I’ve heard great things about the anti pilling yarn by Premier Yarns . I’m not sure it comes in a dk weight but I’d recommend giving it a try. I plan on it as well. 👍🏻💕

Very pretty, I like the colors and the ridges effect. I like to know please if the 2DC together and the 2DC in the same stitch are directly on top of the ones in the previous row because mine are not. Thank you for your tutorial.

    • @PlayHookywithMe

It should be, yes. When you get to the end of the row do you have 4 remaining stitches left (a dc in 3 of those stitches then 2dc in the last st)?
If so , you should be on track.

Hi and thank you for sharing this beautiful video tutorial!
I love it. Can’t wait to make a baby blanket and lap blankets for wheelchairs for the local nursing home.
One comment, I normally use a larger hook , a 5.75 J hook, using I Love This Yarn #4 worsted weight yarn because I tend to crochet tighter . One question, what do you think about alternating between the two rows of color using front loop, then using the back loop for the next row?
Thanks so very much for your input.

    • @vickyg1021
      @vickyg1021 5 місяців тому

Another question, would it be possible to alternate the number of rows ie two rows of one color alternating with three rows of another color and so forth?
      Thanks again for your input.

I’m glad you found a hook size that you love. I have been thinking of moving up to a 5 lately but I keep reverting back to 4mm. 😅
I wish I could give you a good answer on the changing of loops but I haven’t tried it before.
I would suggest making a very small sample and trying about 4 or 5 rows with it and see what you think.
Keep me posted, if you do ! ❤️

I agree with others who commented about a print version request. I think you could take the transcript and turn into a PDF and post the link in your video or put it in Ravelry for sale. Crocheting and watching video instruction simultaneously seems inefficient to me. However, the instructional video is excellent and once you memorize the pattern you don't need to watch any longer. Hi Heather , I actually didn’t notice much of a change in the width, surprisingly.
