    My grandmother taught me how to crochet 45 years ago. All she crocheted were ripple afghans. I always wanted to crochet a ripple afghan in memory of her, but couldn’t wrap my head around it until now. Thanks to your fantastic tutorial, I am starting my “Missie memory” afghan tonight. Thank you beyond words. 💗

      same here I used to go to Italy to see all four of my grandparents, my grandmom on the side of my mom she used to crochet ripple blankets and squares with flowers, and that was 45 years ago to, but I just do the pattern once and then I don't have to look anymore finish

      That’s what I love about UA-cam. I’m a person that has to see things hands-on. And I crocheted for years before I could read patterns. Now I’m doing better reading patterns, because I have been learning my abbreviations over the last few years. There is a blog on the Internet called crochet spot. It has been very helpful for me with my abbreviations. Just take a deep breath and go for it! I really believe you can do it, just stick with it. I found that a lot of things I think are extremely hard looking, are not hard at all. Good luck!

    My grandma also taught me and, all her blankets were ripples or granny's. She just showed me the basics. Now thanks to tutorials on you tube, I am learning far more than when I was trying to figure it out from a book. I bet my Granny's smiling from above! Mom too, although she wasn't all that interested in learning. This ripple pattern is unexpectedly easy. This one is for you G Louise! ;-) Thanks for the tutorial!

    I was very young, before a teen, and I am almost 77 now, when my grandma taught me to crochet. I make afghans. Gram did really fine crochet, hanky edging ,doilies, and pillow case edgings. She was fantastic.

    This is the best tutorial I've seen for this stitch. Thank you for how you do your presentation. Alot of videos are too chatty about too much. It seems they think they can't have a quiet part in the video but you show and tell how it's done and after you do, you just stitch and it gives the viewers a chance to do the same without hearing a lot of irrelevant chatter. Thank you so much!

    Thanks Brittany for this tutorial. I always have such a hard time with the ripple stitch! But for some reason your instruction seems to be perfect. I plan to try making something out of this again. I think making as scarf first, will do the trick. If I can get the hang of the stitch with a scarf, I can move onto an afghan, which is what I want to make. I can't wait to try Red Hearts new yarns too! Thanks!

    If I increase with. Double crochet at the end of each row as tutorial instructs, and turn and repeat the pattern, each row is going to be getting two more stitches.

      This confuses me too. Won’t the blanket just grow and grow into a cone shape?? if we end each row with 2 double crochet in the last stitch?

    • @tamaramartin8588
      @tamaramartin8588 10 місяців тому

      Ok, I get it now. There is always one more “valley “ and one less “peak” in this type of pattern, so the double crochet increases at the beginning and end of each row merely balance it out. 😊😊😊

    Thank you for this video. When the war in Ukraine started I made flags to raise donations for the displaced Ukrainians and I used this stitch which made them look like they were waving in the wind. I never expected it to go on this long. But now that the first anniversary is here I've decided to make more to raise more funds but I could not remember how to start this stitch. I did not learn off of your video originally but I wish I had because this video was so simple to follow. I don't think I'm ever going to forget how to do it now. But I really hope I don't have to make very many more of these flags 😢 Slava Ukraine!

    when you say 14 plus 3 does that mean if I want my blanket bigger then 31 stitches wide do I do 14 plus 14 until it's the width I want and then add 3 at the end or add 3 afterceach 14

    • @suemoore984

      Multiples of 14, then add 3. Those 3 form your first 'stitch' in each row. So, 28+3, 42+3, 56+3, 112+3, or whatever width you need
