i was there and it was a tremendous show saw them 21 times including all 15 times they played madison square garden. best band ever by far!!!!!!!!!! have a great day.
first time was 9/19/70 i was 15 years old and the stage collapsed and jimmy and john paul had to get up on his organ!!! also i was there when elvis presley was in the first row and was introduced to the crowd. that was crazy. saw them play 4 hours and 20 minutes at nassau colleseum and after the third encore the lights came on and plant told them to turn them off and they would pay the venue for the rest of the show and they played 3 more encores the best live show i ever was at!!!!!!!@@davidhirsch2912
This song was often the first song they played in a live concert, sort of a way to warm up the audience. If you want a slower song live, definitely consider 'The Rain Song' from the MSG concert. It's usually paired with 'The Song Remains The Same', and doing them together would be excellent! As for 'The Ocean', it is NOT a slow mellow song (but still great!). Back in the 70's, you're right, it was harder to see live concerts without actually going to the show, BUT in the case of Led Zeppelin, we did get to see this concert when the movie 'The Song Remains The Same' came out (uncertain of the year, but the soundtrack came out a couple years BEFORE the actual movie), which I eagerly went to see in a theater with my older sister immediately! Anyways, loving the reactions, keep it up!
All good points! I also suggest it was one of the few songs they performed that you could actually dance to! You hear many tributes to early rock & roll stars here, Little Ritchard (piano on studio version) Chuck Berry guitar style and duck walk, ect ....
Any song from that concert at Madison Square Garden 1973! The best ones for me are: Since I've Been Loving You (slow blues), Stairway to Heaven (slow then fast), The Song Remains the Same (fast but amazing), Rain Song (slow), No Quarter (slow and eerie), Dazed and Confused (may personal favorite), and the finale Whole Lotta Love medly. Peace, Bill
What a way to open a show , comin' out there raw and the sound guy tryin' to catch up. They admired Elvis and looked at how he performed to try and learn.
This song was inspired by Little Richard's - Keep a Knockin. John Bonham started playing the intro during a recording session, Page began playing a suitable riff then with the help of the other band members plus the late Ian Stewart on piano they knocked it out in less than no time. So it may not be one of their best songs from the point of view of the lyrics but musically one of my favourites.
This was their best live performance, to me. Jimmy really let it all hang out even more in some of the other songs, like Stairway to Heaven and Dazed and Confused, especially the latter. The movie 'The Song Remains the Same' was awesome!
Check out their songs "The Battle of Evermore," "Thank You," "Friends," "Tangerine," "Gallow's Pole," "Going to California," "The Rain Song," "No Quarter," "In the Light," "Down by the Seaside," and "Tea for One."
The first concert Zep played in the U.S. was in my hometown of Denver, Colorado in 1968. I didn't see it (I was 14), but I did see them a few times after that. The music of my youth.
Nothing makes the day better than watching the beautiful Rebeka rocking out to some vintage Led Zeppelin 🙂 A few favorites from Zeppelin for me include "Travelin Riverside Blues", Achilles Last Stand", "Nobody"s Fault Bur Mine" and "Out On The Tiles". I enjoyed watching and listening to your reaction.Wishing you an excellent day Rebeks.🙂
Hi Rebeka, Loved your reaction to R&R I am fortunate to have attended Led Zeppelin Live twice. Once in "72" & again in "73" Words can not describe how Great their shows were.( I will leave it at that). I loved your comment about how lucky we are that they were captured "Live" on Video. How TRUE.. Can you imagine how bad it would suck if their shows were lost forever. Zep usually opened their shows with the "Immigrant Song". Until "73" Then they switched to opening with Rock & Roll. Unlike most Vocalists, Robert did not "Warm Up" his voice before he did a show. The first song was his "Warm Up". (Not the best way to treat your voice). Perhaps it may have contributed to some of his voice problems he has suffered from. Also, That's why sometimes you will hear his voice "Crack" during the first song of a show. I don't' know the exact details, but it is common knowledge Robert almost destroyed his voice by the late 70's. I believe he may have had surgery on his vocal chords at one point. Now he sings one key lower. Anyhow, you asked for a recommendation for a slower song to react to. So, I ask that you react to "That's the Way" from their You Tube - Live at Earls Court Show in 1975. I know how much you like Robert, This song will "Blow Your Socks Off" Your Truly, David T.
I wanted to recommend the entire 26 minutes of Dazed and Confused from this concert. Prepare to be mind blown ! Must be viewed in it's entirety to catch the explosive guitar soloing towards the end. You may have to pause it a few times to get it to post.
Hi Rebeka, great to have you back, love your honest reactions as usual and as usual your looking gorgeous, sorry but I always have to add that bit,you said you'd like to hear a much slower Led Zepp song well there are quite a few,may I suggest "That's The Way" ,anyway keep up the great work, take care British Billy,xx
Ah recommendation for a slow song. I would recommend Going to California. Soft, thoughtful and sweet. In my Time of Dying is another one and it’s a great song but it’s probably not what you’re looking for. If you really want to hear Robert Plants softer voice I would recommend listening to the Duets he did with the legendary American Folk Singer Allison Krause. You won’t be disappointed. It’s not Rock n Roll but you won’t be disappointed. It’s probably the only time Plant has worked with a vocalist more talented than he is.
Thank you for sharing your emotions on Zep with us. As you asked for it, I'm not sure if you reacted to this already, but if not, how about "That's The Way [Live at Earls Court 1975] (Official Video)" a "sister set" to Going to California. Something to really think of and enjoy, like "In my time of dying". Really appreciate your comments.
Same here. Two nights in arow first at the Met Center in Bloomington Mn, the next in the Civic Center St Paul Mn. Was 17yrs old and was in heaven seeing my favorite band ever.
I was at that Greensboro concert in May, 1977 also. Awesome show. They had a band on their Swan Song label, Detective, that was supposed to open the concert. I bought the album so I would be familiar with a few songs, but they didn't show, Led Zep came out late, and it was a great, great concert.
By the way, this live clip was from their movie, The Song Remains The Same.”. Definitely worth watching. Talk about fun to be there? Did you see things being thrown from the audience onto the stage? That was the young ladies throwing their panties on stage. LOL The air would have been so thick with pot smoke you could have cut it with a knife and a fairly high number would have been tripping on acid. Not to mention quite a few would have snuck in leather wine carafes filled with wine or spirits. They were definitely having a real good time! It would be nice to hear that spirit of Rock n Roll lives elsewhere in the world but it died here in the U.S.
My Higher Computing class loved this song, it seemed to help their software development. Mind you the Geography department upstairs were not great fans, they were into Dr. John.
I find it more than a little amazing that just as modern rock music broke on the scene there were incredibly talented bands like this and others that drove it to the stratosphere.
There was a semi-contest on who was the worlds best rock&roll drummer. I believe it was betwixt John Henery Bonham and Neil Pert. Both were awesome and to me both were great! ROCK ON REBEKA!
You're right about it being not one of their very best songs but it's still a very good songs and the performance is magnificent. It's just full on rock and roll. Robert Plant was/is a massive Elvis Presley fan too, by the way.
I have been to quite a few concerts with some girlfriends I used to have, best concert to me was in the Dallas outdoor Auditorium with AC-DC, I snuck up to the stage to see Angus Young then was escorted by security to my seat to my angry girlfriend LOL!
Hello Miss Rebeka !!! I Just Found This Video apparently over 4 hrs Ago. ! looks like I will have to reset my Subscription & Bell buttons Again. Still Subscribed & The like button has been Illuminated ! 😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄
The Ocean is a great song by them (aren't they all though?) but it's not a softer song. It rocks hard too. In the Light and Ten Years Gone are slower songs by them. Also, Tea for One, That's the Way and The Rain Song.
the rain song from this concert! it's a beautiful ballad with beautiful lyrics. the video has a fantasy sequence with robert that goes along with it. it evokes /king arthur/zelda/lord of the rings...
Hi Rebeka, as you have already had lots of suggestions for slow songs i would just like to say loved your reaction & bit of air drumming! Keep on rocking beautiful!
@@rebekaluizebudlevskamusic The MSG gig version of The Rain Song is better than the one you reacted to. If you look at it, you should do it with the tune The Song Remains The Same too, you'll find them paired up on video. Page's guitar work on that is phenomenal. Been trying to learn it for years!
The Ocean is definitely not a slow song. I would recommend an acoustic folk track on the 4th album titled Battle of Evermore. Robert does a duet with Sandy Denny of Fairport convention and the vocal harmonies are amazing. Sadly there’s no great live recording but the studio version is amazing.
Agreed. A beautiful song, very different side to LZ. DO THE ALBUM VERSION! There's a live performance out there by Plant, and Page with other musicians from a much later time, but it changes the character too much, doesn't touch the original with Sandy Denny's harmonising.

The more this stuff ages, the more impressive it gets. Swagger and mystique that doesn't seem to exist anymore.
I agree. Once upon a time a show was worth $15.00 dollar ticket. Now for concerts it's in the hundreds. And you can't be up close anymore.
This is what rock and roll should be !! I mean.....THIS IS ROCK AND ROLL !!
