There was a guy not long ago try to tell me Geddy Lee (Rush) is/was better than Plant. It’s a shame that Geddy Lee didn’t sing for Led Zeppelin instead of Robert Plant…. Said nobody ever.

I've been to a couple of their 70s live performance but much prefer the studio version of their music. They were all over the place when I saw them in LA. Maybe some good performances and some not. There was one positive, my girlfriend was extremely 'frisky " when we got back to my house....😁
One of the best voices in rock. But look at him! Standing up close to the stage looking up at him. Singing his little heart out. I would not trade one moment of my youth for anything. I think I was 19. California raised. I was at the epicenter of the birth of a counter-culture. And this awesomeness was what came with it.

Guitar player and musician of 20 years here. Robert's high notes, the emotion he puts into the recording is unparalleled. He hits notes that are unbelievable...he doesn't even come close to that here. This isn't bad at all, it's just impossible to beat perfect. I love this version too but it's in no way better. Its not even close

That’s for the 70’s! That’s not bad in many people’s opinions. Don’t get me wrong I love Led Zeppelin, and saw them absolutely on their game in St.Louis and Chicago. Both concerts were great.
The greatest bands, the ones that last, are the ones with intense musical chemistry. Bands like The Beatles and Led Zeppelin refuse to be defined by a genre or era. Great reaction!
Glad you gave them a deeper dive. The more you listen to them the more you can appreciate their amazing musical diversity. Whisper to the thunder, light and shade, whatever you call it, Zeppelin’s got it made.
As great as Zep is and they sit at the top of the mountain with the other greats, let's not get carried away with diversity in their music. They recorded 86 songs in a 11 year recording career; approximately 10% which belonged to other artists. They did Hard Sexy Bluesy Rock, their hybrid of folk/rock is epic, magic/mythical infused music is insane and straight up ballads which are standards. But that is pretty much it. When using the term diverse, that leads us more to bands like The Beatles, The Who and Queen.

Page originally wanted his new band to include Beck, Moon, Entwistle and a number of possible singers. It is when Moon/Entwistle first blurted out what would become the name of the band. Saw the boys in January 1973 at Southampton University, just 600 of us crammed into the Old Refrectory - this gig was professionally recorded as the Lost Soundboard Tapes (Any Port in a Storm) - I've got the bootleg - the good old days.

Great reaction! Zeppelin rules forever. I was 14 when they did this concert so I couldn’t go. I saw pictures and posters and knew right away that gods did walk upon this earth. I’m 65 now with Stage IV cancer. We all grow old and fade away…but when I see young people like you enjoy my favorite music from the 60’s and 70’s, it makes me happy. Thank you.

Led Zeppelin was awesome! I've been fortunate enough to see about 5 songs off every Zeppelin album live in concert. They created a diversity of music, that was all great. If you look from the beginning albums, to Physical Graffiti, to Presence, to In through the Out Door. Very different, yet very Led Zeppelin.
Until some entirely new type of music is invented in the future, this is as good as music gets! Fifty five years on this still is the ultimate live performance.
