There are no words for how grateful I am for all of your demonstrated educational tutorials, tips and tricks for cutting hair, hair basics and meticulous attention to detail that you provide in, literally, every video you do. I just want to say that I appreciate your videos and your talent. Thank you!
I got my hair cut by my father by showing him your videos... He is not a professional but my haircut turned out awesome... Great tutorials for even non professionals...
I never learned the 180 degree cut in beauty school... But after watching this video, its probably my favorite now!! The face shaping is really great and detailed!! great job!
Nice man! I really like the over extended 180 cut to frame the face; it also helps create the wind swept effect from the face as well. Farrah Fawcett/Jill Monroe lives!
Thank you!!!!!!! Currently in hair cutting module in one of the most expensive hair schools in NY and my instructor refuses to take her time teaching the 180 degree haircut. You just saved me!!!!'
Thank You! Love this cut and Style. Wore my hair like this but when I moved I had a hard time showing my STYLIST what I wanted. Thank You, I have it now... ❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
I did a longer version of this on my niece and I have to say the result was great. created that natural graduation around the face - defiantly be recommending this cut to my clients. a great versatile cut :)
once again...love ur work...I've been doin hair for 4years and everything I'm learning from free salon education I've applied into my haircuts.....keep the video's comin sir!!!!!
They called this cut square layers at my hair school and the 180 degrees cut was shifting the angle to 180 as you are doing in some parts of the vid,it's strange we get taught things a bit diff but I love watching diff hair dressers and learning from each other's techniques. Anyways I love your vids and your a great hair dresser 😊 thanks for your videos 👍
Wow I learn so much from you Matt thank you for all of the videos! I feel like Im not that strong in haircuts. I do ok...it's just the angles and finger positioning always gets me confused and feel like I don't know what I'm doing. I gotta get a bunch of mannequin heads and practice and memorize these cuts and steps😔
Saaame. I'm not very confident with my haircutting and I honestly feel like I learned some tricks to help with that. Hopefully my school will be okay with some of these techniques though....
Love your videos. I am from the UK and your videos have been a huge help with all my cutting assessments. I will definitely be continuing to watch your vlogs. You ain't bad to look at either xx
Love it. thank you so much for posting these vlogs. I love your detail and how you explain not only the artistic elements , but also the more technical rationales as well. beautifully done, Sir!
thank you so much for this video i am a hairsalon owner and i cut hair for many years my son also a hairdresser watches your videos and told me about your chanel very nice videos you are a great person Matt and what you do is fantastick!
Matt Congrats AGAIN!! very beautiful and kind of easy...?? I didn't understad those 13 people that put thumbs down, it is maybe jealousy.... your Style on creating each and Every Styles and HairCuts with your Own Professional Touches its what it Make it so Great!! Wishing You Matt Health, Wealth and a lot of Love & Fun
Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I finished cosmetology school in USA and I really know the basic cuts. I am learning more from you! Thanks again!
This is my go to cut. I always loved it. As a kid my mother's hair was like this. You added a twist. Thanks for that I'm trying that today on my cousin for mothers day thanks bro
brings me back to me learning this when i took my course over twenty yrs ago.... even the way you have it curled back....Everyone had this style lol....seemed like it was the only way to layer back then...... only of course everyone kept it square and they didn't point or slide cut.... so much has changed thank goodness lol ....
You do such an amazing job. The only thing I have trouble with is understanding where the guide comes from when moving to another section. Like when you went from the back panels to the side panels.
I found this video very helpful I’ve been struggling a little bit and my self confidence has taken a hit from it been watching lots of these feeling a bit better
Matt you're videos are presented so well I'm currently doing my hairdressing apprenticeship in Australia and your videos give me a more in depth view into why I'm doing certain techniques
This is awesome, thanks for the instruction!! I have the standard cosmetology textbook version but this is a bit better looking. It doesn't make the hair look 40 years old. 😜😝
Love the cut, I like doing different ideas myself it's nice to see an old style with a new breath of life throw into it, great job. I will use this on my next client who says Sue can you shaggy layer me with out lots of lines, and I will be doing your cut! Love your videos, I am new to them. Also I like the fact that you explain what your doing and why, good way to teach. Thanks , Sue
love the fringe! and your take is the correct way. which is probably why I battled with the cutting techniques back in school. great job, again... I'm going to leave the comments for everyone else now. I'm being redundant. lol. keep them coming fse/Matt.
This is a great cut. Where are you taking your guide from when doing the top section? Also any recommendations for judging the length in the end finished design? Without removing too much and having an unhappy client.
I know this question is a year late, but I would leave out an inch or two around the hairline (depending on density) so that you can keep a thick enough perimeter to not have to lose much length. Another option is to elevate until the perimeter falls out. Imagine the perimeter around their hairline as their "extensions" and the layering as their "real hair".
Love it... as always. Fantastic Educator. Everything clear and to the point, and loving the consistency throughout your videos. I think that helps us a lot. Thank you.
Thank you matt! I love all your videos I learn so much from them, I still have trouble with angles, but your explainations and visual concepts always help a ton! I actually always look at a video or 2 b4 I go into work to get me pumped up 😀😉, thank you
your method makes sense! i was shown to do the face frame first then make the mohawk section at at the same angle yoy had and keep doing that on each side till there no more cutting needed then so what the stylist at work said cusian it method and comv the side over the face and add the back cut till there a point no more cutting needed idk he is right I got a hair cut today at work so i hope i do well and my friend likes it
I love, love this hair cut and style. This is what I've been looking for. Awesome job. I am a new sub., and fan . (I'm also in my late 40's, which means I love the layered looks, from the 80's ). Great work 🤗🤗
Such an easy cut style....simple......you think maybe I can cut my own long straight hair to look like this style.....I have sissies, blow-dryer, hairspray, clips a round brush with vents, iron and a comb. I'll do it....after I watch this video lots more times.....love your videos.......

Hi Matt, I have a question that came up to my mind while watching this haircut technique. Can this exact cutting be shorter to become a Bob haircut? Because the sectioning is great creating light weight on the sides (off the face), seamless layers overall, and 180 degrees makes it easier to blow dry the hair. Your guidance and feedback would be greatly appreciated. Note: I'm not a hairdresser, just in case if what I said doesn't make sense to you, thanks for understanding. I hope to hear back from you!
Loved it I could not find where your 1st guide was. . I also couldnt follow ypur overdirect towards the middle of video cause you were going so fast. I understood what you were saying .ypu were just moving so much faster I couldnt follow .I loved the cut . Where did you get your 1st guide?
I had a major a-ha moment just now at 7:38! Just thought I'd share that with you. Thank you for sharing your talent Matt! I remember meeting you for half a second at premiere Orlando this summer, next time you come down to Orlando will you be offering hands on cutting classes? Your a great teacher.
Love this!! So in 2021 would you still flatiron it out and finish the top in the same way? Do you do that mainly to get clean lines? Thanks for another great tutorial!!
Is it possible to do this cut if your client comes in asking for the hair to be a specific length when finished. Like I want it to fall at my shoulder blade or I want 3 inches taken off? I have a hard time picturing how that would be possible when you start cutting at the top.
Can’t wait to try this 180 technique... always learn so much from your videos. Do you have any tips for the fringe area. I struggle in that department.
hey matt, i have a request challenge for you! I'm looking for a more subtle version of yolandi vissers hair, she's got the very short micro bangs and short transition layers in the front moving a lots of length in the back, i like the punk vibe and the disconnection into long pieces, and i like the idea of keeping most hair off the face while still having a very long haircut, but would prefer to keep lengthier layers in the front. is it possible? ~B
The one I learned in school oddly has this weird weight line. Crazily layered at the top and then it looks like it diffuses into nothing at all. I can't do it that way anymore so I'll have to try it this way😊
There are no words for how grateful I am for all of your demonstrated educational tutorials, tips and tricks for cutting hair, hair basics and meticulous attention to detail that you provide in, literally, every video you do. Not the way I was taught in hair school- this way is MUCH easier. Love it thanks!
Love how simple you break it down.
Thank You! Love this cut and Style. Wore my hair like this but when I moved I had a hard time showing my
STYLIST what I wanted.
Thank You, I have it now...
❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
Beautiful haircut and styling! Also... That curling iron is YUUUUUGE

I like the way the hair lays away from the face & layers looks in the back of the head.👍😊
thank you so much for this video i am a hairsalon owner and i cut hair for many years my son also a hairdresser watches your videos and told me about your chanel very nice videos you are a great person Matt and what you do is fantastick!
