Thanks for getting this video to 100k views, and for getting me to 1k subs, which happened at the same time! If you're going to yell at me about Infinite World read this: I'll detail it more in my next video but some time down the line I'll be making a video about reevaluating my most disagreed with ratings. Infinite World at this point deserves to be among them, so before you tell me I'm wrong about it, bide your time because there will be a time and place to get those criticisms looked at. I guess Budokai 3 will also deserve a place in that video too.
@@HueyBravo115 true, was just replaying the game for nostalgia and, besides Gohan having weak combos without cancel for chaining, Cell is very broke, the only advantage in that fight is being smaller, because then some of Cell's combos don't hit.
i love the original stolen budokai soundtrack thats why i didn't jump to the hd collection on ps3... until i modded my ps3 and mod the game soundtrack to the original stolen ps2 soundtrack

It was and many of the mini games were good and fun or reliving moments of the anime like tein vs cell with tri beam or actually hunting for dragon balls
Yeah I hated it, especially since the CPU would read your inputs sometimes so it was hard to pull off a special beam canon or final flash cause they were tied to winning dragon rush. Plus the CPU would use it constantly.
They really don't read your inputs. They often follow a pattern of either choosing the same button twice in a row and then changing the last one, or just choosing same button three times
Something that I'll always appreciate about Budokai 1 is how much effort they put into actual cutscenes. Every budokai game after that was basically just a graphic novel in terms of story mode. Budokai 1 was before its time and definitely didn't have the tech to make amazing looking cutscenes, but it has a lot more heart in the story mode, imo. Also, that first minigame in Budokai 1 where you are Goku trying to keep Radditz lined up with Piccolo's charging Special Beam Cannon - the music still gives me anxiety hahaha. And the following cutscene is completely brutal and I think actually did the source material justice.
To be fair to later entries, it isn't so much that they "put less effort" into them, and more that Dimps and such (wisely) started to dedicate more resources into fleshing out the gameplay and content of succeeding entries. They focused more on fully animated scenes for the original because they were just establishing the foundation for the series moving forward, then the priorities shifted into making more fully realized games over the spectacle. Had it been like these days where more time and money are given to these sorts of projects (as publishers back then would rush devs for most licensed-based titles), they'd probably continue the trend, but as is, they made the right call moving forward.
That's exactly what I liked about Budokai. I always said combine their story structure and cutscenes with Budokai Tenkaichi 3 gameplay and I feel you'd have the ultimate DBZ game at least as far as the PS2 is concerned
@@deroistewart1475 i think it would be the most enjoyable but not the best as weird as it sounds i think the perfect tenkaichi game would be better content wise but budakais fighting and cutscenes would make it alot more fun
Yeah watching the Budokai games was actually my first experience watching the show from start to finish.... Dbz is the only series that can continuously make money off of selling the same story
"infinite world is like budokai 3 but worse because it doesn't have dragon rush" that's literally the best part tho, dragon rush is a whole rng mechanic that can take half of your health bar by doing nothing.
@@justrem9595 It's quite literally not, you pick something then it's a win, lose or draw. In dragon rush the odds go from 1/4 to 1/3 to 1/2 of escaping it if you can predict what the opponent will do. Against a human player this is completely fair while against a computer I can see how you would think it's random chance. So for it to do significant damage you literally have to fail 3 times in a row.
Man I miss Tenkaichi 3 so much...still to this day it's my all time favorite fighting game. So many great memories. In 2008 I was living with a friend of mine, and his younger brother would come by and see me playing BT3, and he would fight me and always lose, and lose bad. So I told him he could play the game for 3 days and I wouldn't touch it. 3 days to get better at it and we'd have a 5 on 5 battle. When the day came, I still managed to win...but he improved so much that he gave me one of the best fights I ever had playing that game.
Agreed. I really hated Dragon Rush, and wanted more characters, so Infinite World got the job done. The fighting in general felt a lot smoother too. It’s objectively better than Budokai 3, aside from the lack of tournaments and beam struggles. I’d love an HD remaster, but I know that’s not gonna happen.
I'm kind of divided with Tenkaichi 2 and 3. I love them both for different reasons. On the one hand, 2 is a much more complete experience, but on the other, what 3 does better it does it much better.
3 didnt have very good balance i think it should have had a few more trade offs and or less trade offs like ssj4s damage shoulda have been countered by like a drain or somin and brolys super armor shoulda meant that he also too like 1.5x dmg and the apes should have been more like xenoverses goodness they were the worst granted 2 also had alot of these problems but not to this extent
@@allthingsanime7413 but I think that's because it was never meant as a competitive game but rather a fan service game (all three tenkaichi games are like this). So if you were fighting with Yamcha against Broly, of course you're going to have a hard time. Because you're playing as Yamcha against fucking Broly. But that being said, I do think the game gave enough tools to the player gameplaywise to overcome the challenge most of the time.
@@tximinoman true but i think they shouldnt have half done it ,ike its a fan service yet they all deal the same dmg outside of special attacks and great ape is garbo when it should be better than base
Infinite world was a lot of fun for me and the mini missions felt like a breathe of fresh air for the dbz games. If it had tournament mode, then you're looking at a perfect game.
Infinite world is a great game, sadly it came really late and it was overlooked by gamers . They should have released it on Ps3/X360 back then, it would have done a lot better . It was the end of PS2 era. I still play it along with B3 and Shin budokai to this day wit ha friend. I've never liked any Dragon ball game that came after the Budokai franchise.
Yeah this video made no sense and you were obviously a new or even slight dbz fan while making this video Budokai was the first of it's kind and set the standard for dbz games. Soul calibur was the 2nd installment so it would be better to compare Budokai 2 with it furthermore you said you liked Budokai 2 and 3's gameplay but not infinite worlds when infinite world was part of the Budokai series, it copied and pasted Budokai 3's gameplay and mechanics then updated them and made it better also Budokai 3,s story mode was bad on top of dragon rush infinite worlds story mode was better and the little map was better than Budokai 3's open map which was small and felt bare on top of having nothing interesting about it.
The Budokai 1 review is definitely lacking perspective of people who lived during the time. The reason the game sold wasn't just because of the license, but because it was arguably the very first *good* game with the license. It's not bad at all, and it only got better with its sequels.
Yeah no disrespect to the guy making the video, its obvious he out effort into it. But this is just bad take after bad take, he’s missing the charm of these games
In putting this video out there I learned that there are a lot more people who love Infinite World than I thought. And a lot of those people really hate Budokai 3
@@ErbBetaPatched I don't hate Budokai 3 ^_^ I just find it quite flawed compared to IW and I think it gets way too much credit for what it's worth. If IW had been released earlier in the PS2's lifecycle or even released on the PS3, it probably would've been more popular :(
@@ErbBetaPatched You mean IW? Yeah it definitely had some balancing issues. I mainly hated the mini-Ultimates because of how impossible they are to dodge >:( But I'd rather have that than the horrendous Dragon Rush!
I disagree with Infinite World, the gameplay has a revamp, the combos are better refined by combining Shin Budokai, Burst Limit, and Budokai 3’s engine into one. Canceling, Juggling, Defensive Options is better. Just because your a casual type of player and don’t practice the Budokai games itself doesn’t mean Infinite World is bad.
Dragon Rush was one of the most retarded mechanics ever implemented into the game, they were literal game changers that give players a ton of damage based on simple guessing games.
@@SonnyDha_B I think that the only good thing infinite world did was make the capsule system actually work. And I do have to disagree about dragon rush because dragon rush was accompanied by a huge risk of stunning yourself and losing all of your ki and your transformations. The damage output can be great but the chance of failing increases from 25% to 50% throughout the attack. You can even lose if you fail the first part of Dragon rush. It's a big risk vs reward component.
ErbBetaPatched When I’m telling you the fighting system got a huge revamp combo wise, canceling wise and juggling wise compared to Budokai 3, its that big of a difference.

I actually liked Sagas it was different from budakai although looking at it now I’d probably hate it. It was my favorite as a kid though especially since they included a trunks saga
Sameee, played both shaolin monks and sagas coop with my cousin, and they’re about the best ps2 memories I have. Gotta say OP just disliked Sagas a lot, the story mode expositions with the DBZ Narrator were also top notch
Budokai Tenkaichi 3!! Loved that game. That one and the 2nd tenkaichi are/were my go to dragon ball games. The character movements, the attacks, the presentation. It was a bit repetitive after a while but i loved it. I owned budokai 1 and 2, i just never really got into them, i hate that style of game, but it was good for it's time
@Facts Don't care about your feelings never played it but I’ve seen the gameplay and it pales in comparison to its second predecessor (jk I don’t know for sure but I like the ki system better in 2)

The game deserves full credit for being popular. It sold very well and was responsible for pushing the other games out there. And I did say that it was enjoyable at the time, because I liked it at the time, but looking at it now its certainly dated, especially compared to 2 and 3. To be fair, this mechanic is never expanded on by the game, any of its manuals or any guide before Infinite World. Cancelling back then was simply only discovered by a casual player on pure accident....or they fought Super Buu on their last bar of life in Budokai 2 and caught him abusing it.....
what they didn't know, though, is that Combo Cancelling is also a thing in Budokai Tenkaichi 2. But no one ever talks about that now do they? Mostly because no one ever knew it existed, kinda like what the person above me described

I was a poor kid but some of the more well off kids brought their systems to school on the last day we got to play them on the projectors. Burst Limit looks even better but still has that nice gameplay however if you're looking to play one of these on a phone you definitely need a PS2 or GC game.

I enjoyed Sagas, you can essentially do infinite combos if you execute the method properly, also, Broly is way stronger than all the other characters. I almost forgot how amazing budokai tenkaichi 2 since it was overshadowed by tenkaichi 3.
I remember playing Sagas with my brother all the time. I remember the Goku vs Vegeta fight being so hard back then. After beating the game we used to go back and beat the story with other characters
Ah, I have so much nostalgia for these xD Budokai 3 is still my favorite on the PS2, I still love the fighting system to this day, and the story mode and extras are a ton of fun. I have a fondness for Budokai 1 because, odd as this may seem, it was my first exposure to the main DBZ story! I had only caught bits and pieces of episodes before playing the game. Super Dragon Ball Z is quite a gem. It's really different from every other DBZ game on the list, and I feel like not enough people played it. And finally Sagas... hoo boy. I know, objectively, that this game isn't actually good, but I have so much nostalgia and silly memories playing it on co-op with friends that I could never dislike it
Glad to see you gave Budokai the criticism it deserves. The game has not aged well at all and only retains any presence for putting more effort into cutscenes than most. It's surprising how Budokai 2 is treat as the black sheep of the trilogy despite having far better gameplay, some unique character forms/fusions and a story mode that's more than a straightforward adaption. One error in the video is the statement that Tenkaichi 2 introduced characters being unlocked through item fusions. A significant amount of the first Tenkaichi's roster featured this method, particularly for some of the stronger forms and those not connected to the core story arcs (ie. films and GT). If anything, Tenkaichi 2 was a step down in this as Tenkaichi 1 would also have some characters unlocked by gathering the Dragon Balls.
I agree. B1 is honestly overrated, as it has the worst gameplay mechanics and graphics in the trilogy + IW. They put more effort into the cutscenes, then they did into the fighting system. Remember how bad the skillshop was ? People are just blinded by nostalgia. But its still a solid 6/10 for me.
Sagas was quite enjoyable as a kid playing co op with my brother was always a good time. I remember there was a way to friendly fire we grinding out and somehow bonded over a silly game .
One of the tiny details of TK2 that I thoroughly missed from TK3 is that you could charge Piccolo's Special Beam Cannon for extremely high damage which keeps true to the material. I hoped it would be in Raging Blast but that game is close to perfect so I will allow an omission of error.

As someone who is garbage at real fighting games, I welcome the simplicity the Budokai games brought. Budokai 3 is my absolute favorite DBZ game and I still pop it into my PS3 from time to time. I did play the HD remaster, but I missed the old, plagiarized soundtrack too much. Anyway, this was an awesome video! Very well made. Good job!
I never really understood why Budokai Tenkaichi 2 is so underrated, it's my favourite DBZ game that isn't FighterZ, and not just due to nostalgia. Like you said, the battle system, the music, the extensive story mode, and everything else about it were MASSIVE improvements over the original, and even though 3 improved the gameplay a bit, so many other things were either cut or made worse in that game. Glad to finally see someone else who appreciates it.

Dragon Rush is the worst system in any fighting game, just no. Removing speed blocking systems and focus on more damage to combo ratio skill is not a downfall of Infinite World, it is a crap toss point but I agree with the whole no Tournament though. I genuinely thought he was being sarcastic the whole time when he was talking about Dragon Rush lol But I suppose he wasn't. Never thought there was somebody who actually liked Dragon Rush.
I can't tell you one thing, nobody on this God given earth is going to beat me at any Budokai game, by mashing buttons. Not me, not underlordtico, not any of the guys he played
The first Dragonball game I ever played was DragonBall GT: Final Bout. I know I'm gonna catch Hell because "it's not canon", but I played that game so much it caused my PlayStation to short circuit and catch on fire. Killed the memory card...hours and hours WASTED.
I'm sorry to tell you that Sagas was rated very poorly for its terrible design. And like you just stated: you loved it as a kid, where we don't really think about how the game is built and don't have much of an understanding of good game mechanics and gameplay, therefore nostalgia makes you believe that the game is good despite the fact that in reality it is a terrible game.
@@seonis Yeah I liked Sagas as a kid 😂... It was a glitchy mess, but still enjoyable for young me. Kinda wish they made a more finished second game that went into the Buu saga or even GT.
Sagas wasn't at the level of those other games But still it was fun, specially if you played it on co-op mode and with friendly fire activated Also the bugs can be very funny, like those with the saibaman or that weird glitch with frieza
Sagas scarred me forever as a kid, and I'm like "How could they make THIS and sell me it?" I kept thinking there'd be more bit than I beat it and I'm like no way lool

The Capsule System in the first Budokais is just incorporating Aki-chan's short term memory as a game mechanic. It's stylistically designed that way, you see. I never got Tenka 3 but 2 was easily my favourite with Budo 3 as a close second as far as truly *feeling* like DBZ, even if the music from the first three Budos was the absolute peak.
Loved the review. For the most part, I agreed with everything you said about all the games on the PS2. My favorites out of them all were Super Dragonball Z, Budokai 1,2 and 3, and Tenkaichi 3. In that order. The PS2 was the best syatem for DBZ games...
Wow I agreed with you the entire video lol. Thanks for making this it brought back good memories! I had all of those games except for tenkaichi 3 and infinite world. Sagas was so bad never finished beating story mode
I actually really like how Budokai 1 looked compared to all the later ones because of the lack of bold black outline, but def agree that it felt like it was missing heaps and just sorta janky overall
I like that the characters were full 3d which was unique and different from your usual cell shaded dbz game and such and they look like action figures and mixed with the amazing cutscenes is always awesome to revisit
If my memory is correct, I read somewhere that Infinite World was created for those who couldn't get Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit at the time for the PS3. If you compare both games, their mechanics share a lot of similarities.
They where also released the same year Infinite World December, and Burst Limit June, of 2008. I do admit that this is how i treated IW. Amusingly enough, aside from Visuals, Infinite World is better. It has more content. BUrst Limits biggest flaw is how damn short it is... and the inabillity to charge ki.

Ok, I appreciate the time you took to make this video, but I just wanted to voice one of my opinions. I have been regularly playing the DBZ games that are out on PS4, (for this purpose, I will exclude Kakarot) and I recently reconnected my PS2 to my TV to play some of the old DBZ games. I noticed you said the transformations in the orginal Budokai were very insignificant in terms of power boost, but I would like to remind you the difference between Base Goku and SSJ Goku is pretty big; I'd approximate double of the original base damage. For example, if I were to throw out transformations that were practically useless in games, Id say Xenoverse is a good choice as the power difference is so miniscule it's almost unnoticed (I do realize this title is labeled for ps2 games only but just wanted to provide an example for reference).
My favourite is definitely infinite world here's why: 1-the story mode has ACTUAL cutscenes instead of the cardboard cut outs that were in the budokai 3 game, also the mini games were fun to play and it made you feel like you're interacting with the series. 2- the gameplay has improved, the control layout is better and THERE IS NO DRAGON RUSH to always break the pacing of the fight. 3-more characters, this game has characters from GT also pikkon and janemba, sure some of the ultimate attacks can't be blocked but the actual ultimate themselves are amazing additions to the game. 4-the ost although budokai 3 intro theme is amazing I think overall the soundtrack in infinite world is better than budokai 3. 5-the CPU is actually way smarter and violent than budokai 3 which makes the battles more intense and fun In the end infinite world is just like the back of the cover says it is "the best of the budokai series" it's just a shame it came out so late, in fact this was the last DBZ game released for the console.
I get that DBZ Budokai 1's overall fighting mechanics leave alot to be desired but the biggest appeal I feel this games has its the Story Mode and all the little nods it gives to DBZ. Its a small piece of the overall package but I still regard the way this game depicts the arks up until the Cell Saga to be the peak story telling out of every DBZ game that has ever come out. Even the capsules when you unlock them have funny small quotes which is fantastic. There a nostalgia bias for me not gonna lie but that aspect of this game i feel gets overlooked whenever someone reviews it. Being the base for what games would follow it i feel it was a really good 3D DBZ game for the time it came out. Idk maybe thats just me.
The graphics have aged like milk compared to B2 and B3, and the capsules + super basic fighting system is really bad. Its still a fun trip down memory lane, but I cant rate it higher than a 6/10 honestly. Remember how bad the skillshop was? Or how horribly balanced alot of the characters are?
Good to see some love for Budokai Tenkaichi 2. Out of every Dragon Ball Z game, I think that was the one that makes you most feel like you're actually playing the show. With the transformations, fusions, destructible environments, dashes, teleportations, and MANY special moves, it just captures the feeling of Dragon Ball Z perfectly. And that's BEFORE you factor in that it includes almost every DBZ character and battle you can think of. Then on top of that, the music is awesome. BT3 has a better battle system but like you said, the story mode and soundtrack are markedly inferior to BT2. The best of BT2 and BT3 together with remastered graphics would easily be the best DBZ game ever made.
I remember playing Budokai 1 as a kid and my Dad hummed along to one of the menu songs, and called it a classic. I didn't think much of it then, but we only knew lol
Mines are Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3, Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3, Buu's Fury, Legacy of Goku 2, Raging Blast 2, Xenoverse 2, and the upcoming Kakarot game.
I still play Budokai 3 is my favorite from the budokai series. I wanted to play infinite world but tbh the guard aura, the easy way to spam ultimates even the unblockable, the mini games and the fatique system destroyed the whole experience for me and i got bored literally after 5 minutes.I love more the hyper mode and dragon rush in B3 :)
Every Tenkaichi focusses on a different aspect of combat, which is why playing one like the other is a bad idea. BT1 focusses on Defense. BT2 focusses on Movement. BT3 focusses on Combos. The most competitive one is Tenkaichi 2 and from my point of view, from what i've seen and played, it's fair to say that it has as much or even more depth than Budokai 3. My favorite, obviously. Saying Tenkaichi 2 plays like Tenkaichi 3 shows that you haven't played Tenkaichi 2 right, but I can't blame you. I only know 5-6 people on UA-cam that actually know how the fighting system of BT2 works.
@@brownzetzu1637 Just a quick list -All cancels from T2 have been taken out in T3 (every chargable attack is cancellable in T2) -movement has gotten much worse in T3, as tricks like Ground Dashes, Free Wills and R2 Slides aren't possible anymore -left/right guarding has been taken out -regular guarding now blocks most damage, whereas in T2 you had to adjust your defense to the opponent -sway has gotten much worse, as it can't be used to defend against throws, rush B2s and kiai cannons -Z-Counter has gotten much worse, as it now initiates a teleport duel that favors the player with less Ki -In T3, jumping ki blasts can be done anywhere, making the ground-/airgame much more similar -T3 has more combos, but because this is an Arena Fighter, combos are secondary There are many more differences, but these are the main ones. You don't need to think to play Tenkaichi 3, you can just spam combos and use react to the opponent using a teleport, predicting the opponent is useless. In Tenkaichi 2, not thinking will most definitely lead to you being perfected if the other player knows how to play.
Budokai 1’s transformations are amazing because it serves a meaningful purpose in gameplay. When transforming you have invincibility frames, break an opponents block, combo starter, and you can continue to juggle opponents with it. Not to mention it unlocks more moves meaning a more damaging combo if you continue it. The aura is more visible the higher your ki is like the show. It serves a meaningful purpose in game And all in all is great feedback in the game’s design
This! Also his take on the game having no depth due to a simplistic control scheme is awful. You still have footsies, neutral, good use of movement options, outplaying your opponent, etc
You have to be absolutely joking about infinite world. The gameplay is far better than budokai 3 for just two reasons: 1. Hyper mode in budokai 3 is absolutely garbage. Every time you use it your opponent knows that you're either going to go for an ultimate and/or dragon rush and will just start running away from you and avoiding you until your hyper mode runs out. Telegraphing that you're going to use an ultimate is incredibly lame. 2. The removal of dragon rushes. You seriously liked these? It's a Rock paper scissors simulator. The only way dragon rushes would be remotely bearable is if each character had their own unique one. After the millionth time of seeing the same dragon rush you just wanna fight and not play rock paper scissors.
@@Miki_DBG I generally ignore aggregate sites like metacritic and rotten tomatoes. They're good for determining what people thought overall, but not so good for assessing the quality of the work. I brought it up here because the low metascore indicates that I'm not the only one who thought the game wasn't good.
Infinite World is basically the Budokai 4 in my book. No dragon rush, more characters, an even better combat system and a faster combat system (It really plays a lot like Burst Limit but on the PS2 now i think about it) To this day it's still my favorite dbz game, right next to Tenkaichi 2. i literally love the hell out this game.. i love it more than Budokai 3 actually. I just hate that Infinite World is so heavily slept on
I really wish we could get another game in the style of Budokai, I’m so sick of the Tenkaichi style games, which has become the standard for all anime fighting games. Also there were two DBZ games released on PSP that used the same engines as the PS2 games and easily could have been ported to the PS2 itself. A games based on “Dragonball Evolution” based on the crappy live action movie in the style of Budokai, and “DBZ Tenkaichi Tag” which was basically Tenkaichi but where you selected 2 characters and tagged them in and out on a team.
Budokai 2 is my favorite dbz game of all time. You can combo cancel and transportation into other combos. You can also move charge in the middle of combos to guard smash and still continue the combo. You had the same opinion my best friend had. He just didn't have a deeper understanding of the combat system. But the requirements for the combo before ki blasts in the first game is why I loved 2..
I played B2 on and off for the last 10yrs, and recently got an ebay copy of B3 last month. B3 made me realize how much I missed out on when i was a fulltime gamer, its so much better in nearly all aspects. The only thing thats gamebreaking is the RNG-heavy stupid dragonrush mechanic, and the broken Ai spamming hyper mode every 10 seconds on hard difficulty

@@LostCourage janken is literally random tho
@@justrem9595 It's quite literally not, you pick something then it's a win, lose or draw. In dragon rush the odds go from 1/4 to 1/3 to 1/2 of escaping it if you can predict what the opponent will do. Against a human player this is completely fair while against a computer I can see how you would think it's random chance. So for it to do significant damage you literally have to fail 3 times in a row.
@@LostCourage it's literally a random chance in all 3 scenarios
Man I miss Tenkaichi 3 so much...still to this day it's my all time favorite fighting game. So many great memories.

The Budokai 1 review is definitely lacking perspective of people who lived during the time. The reason the game sold wasn't just because of the license, but because it was arguably the very first *good* game with the license. It's not bad at all, and it only got better with its sequels.

The only flaw I’d give Infinite World is removing the Tournament mode and the Single Player options not being fun,
Tenkaichi and the Budokai games aren’t in the same series, also they were named differently in Japan
I remember playing Sagas with my brother all the time. I remember the Goku vs Vegeta fight being so hard back then. After beating the game we used to go back and beat the story with other characters
Here's my list, I haven't played the other two.
1. Tenkaichi 2
2. Tenkaichi 3
3. Budokai 3
4. Budokai 2
5. Budokai 1
6. Tenkaichi 1
7. Sagas
Tenkaichi 2 has the best telling of a dragon ball story in a video game to date imo
Ah, I have so much nostalgia for these xD
Budokai 3 is still my favorite on the PS2, I still love the fighting system to this day, and the story mode and extras are a ton of fun.
I owned and played every game on this list for countless hours, wish I could go back and relive those times with my brother and cousins 😢😢
Infinite World is still my favorite Dragon Ball game ever!! So underated!!
Great video man. The nostalgia is real.. My friends and I use to throw down at these games.
Dbz sagas was so addictive and i don't know why !
I played it so much as a kid
I hated it as a kid. I grew up playing Buodukai and I spent my allowance to buy it

Thanks! Im working on the next one, and by working, I mean writing like a sentence or two a week on average.
I remember loving sagas as a kid...lol over 15 years ago 😂
Holy crap! how are you at 100 subs with this amount of work?! I always thought Projared's video was the best retrospective but I gotta say this one was WAY more detailed in more in depth. I seriously cant wait when you do the next one's on the console! you earned as sub!
Thank you. This video is the reason why I was able to break past 100 subs.
ErbBetaPatched That makes sense considering the amount of work you’ve put into this. Keep up the good work.
I played dbz fighter z and it’s fun but overated
Despite all the DBZ games that have come out over the years, BT1 has the most badass and authentic Intro of all of DBZ games of the Franchise. BT2 and BT3 in my opinion still remains the most Unique and the best DBZ games in terms of content, quality and fanservices. And from the gameplay perspective aspects, these DBZ games that I mentioned are very close to the anime itself because of the Vibe and Charm, I don't know how to describe it but it was, and still is the most Unique DBZ experience you could have with the combat factor. I agree budokai tenkaichi 2 is amazing I played that game so much as a kid. 3 is awesome as well but the price is absolutely ridiculous "I own a cib copy I paid $260 for😂"
dragon ball z tenkaichi 2 was literally my child hood and the best game of all time
The lightening is yellow in the manga. The kamehamehas are also yellow in the manga depending if it is the full color release of the manga. Also budokai 1 is still great. Graphics are amazing and it’s super simplistic combat system allows players to quickly master mechanics. The depth comes when you can cancel combos and you can cancel any string into another. It has more depth than soul caliber 1
I loved sagas personally. Although it had some problems with combat, Playing co-op with your bestfriend was the best
The biggest problem with co-op was when one character had super saiyan but not the other.
It's crazy how underrated Super Dragon Ball Z is

Man this was a trip down nostalgia lane. Thank you.
Dragon Rush is the worst system in any fighting game, just no.
Removing speed blocking systems and focus on more damage to combo ratio skill is not a downfall of Infinite World, it is a crap toss point but I agree with the whole no Tournament though.
"Mashing buttons until someone dies", if you are cheap or not trying anything or form of mindgame then yeah, just git guud at your strategy wiseley.
I genuinely thought he was being sarcastic the whole time when he was talking about Dragon Rush lol
But I suppose he wasn't. Never thought there was somebody who actually liked Dragon Rush.
@@lotus1117 I love Dragon rush but i Unterstand why people dislike it
I loved Budokai 3 but yeah the Dragon Rush was horrible. That’s a big reason why I prefer Infinite World.
I can't tell you one thing, nobody on this God given earth is going to beat me at any Budokai game, by mashing buttons. Not me, not underlordtico, not any of the guys he played
Charles D-Wayne Me too also it’s so DAMN easy to sidestep out of the way to avoid Dragon Rush but it does take some skill to do that
The first Dragonball game I ever played was DragonBall GT: Final Bout. I know I'm gonna catch Hell because "it's not canon", but I played that game so much it caused my PlayStation to short circuit and catch on fire. Killed the memory card...hours and hours WASTED.
Time enjoyed isn’t time wasted my friend.
@@reach7020 i agree. I lost my save file twice on soul calibur 3. Still loved my time with it.
This video hurt my heart sagas was literally my favorite game as a kid I beat it so many times
I played when I already understood that the game was shit and I still had fun (It's so bad it's awesome)
Sagas wasn't at the level of those other games
But still it was fun, specially if you played it on co-op mode and with friendly fire activated
Also the bugs can be very funny, like those with the saibaman or that weird glitch with frieza
@@TP-rb3vs as a kid I literally cried after the cd of sagas broke it was good in my dumbass kid brain
You should've talked about DBZ: Sagas' soundtracks, which are FREAKING AWESOME!
Sometimes I'm playing just for listening to its soundtracks.
I have owned all these games growing up as a 90's kid, thanks for the memories
I actually liked dragon ball Z saga
I find it new breath of combat refreshing
and mysterious vibe if it somehow haunting.
There’s yellow lighting in the manga.
"there's YELLOW in the MANGA"
Say what?
Nani ??
Kamehameha was also yellow in the manga, so Budokai 1 didn't have a wrong color like implied in the video
@@abba1322 some scenes in the manga were fully colored, though there are also prints that don't have color at all
Sagas scarred me forever as a kid, and I'm like "How could they make THIS and sell me it?" I kept thinking there'd be more bit than I beat it and I'm like no way lool
theres a couple things i really loved about sagas, co-op mode obviously, and you could use the teleport as you were attacking, so u could be meleeing and just afterimaging all around ur opponent while they couldnt hit you. loved the vid tho very nostalgic, owned all of them except for infinite world, didnt even know it was a thing so its cool to learn something new
I always feel lucky I did have it. A lot of people didn’t . Because they made it around the same time people moved on to ps3s and burst limit
Great review, thank you. Phenomenal work

"Thy think that the thames thare untherwhelming"
The Capsule System in the first Budokais is just incorporating Aki-chan's short term memory as a game mechanic. It's stylistically designed that way, you see. I never got Tenka 3 but 2 was easily my favourite with Budo 3 as a close second as far as truly *feeling* like DBZ, even if the music from the first three Budos was the absolute peak.
“It’s stylistically designed that way” okay George Lucas nerd
@@HistoryandReviews Y'ain't lyin, friend!

They where also released the same year
Infinite World December, and Burst Limit June, of 2008.
I do admit that this is how i treated IW.
Amusingly enough, aside from Visuals, Infinite World is better. It has more content. BUrst Limits biggest flaw is how damn short it is... and the inabillity to charge ki.
SuperVegitoFAN Short it is how? And Wtf? No charging? So Wth did you have a limited amount of Ali you had to weary of at all times... cause that sounds mad annoying... I would rather not do Math while playing a game
Edit - I can’t stand Apple’s Autocorrect System... like I legit don’t even know what I was asking to even edit this properly
@@kzukiodenthechad7205 Only covered saiyan frieza and cell sagas. And ki was more like xenoverse plus auto recharge

@@supervegito2277 don’t forget it also covered both the Bardock and Broly Sagas too, but only ended with Broly winning and not have a final battle with him as Goku.
Damn. I'm shocked that you don't have over 100k subscribers. That's some top-notch review
My favourite is definitely infinite world here's why:
1-the story mode has ACTUAL cutscenes instead of the cardboard cut outs that were in the budokai 3 game, also the mini games were fun to play and it made you feel like you're interacting with the series.
5-the CPU is actually way smarter and violent than budokai 3 which makes the battles more intense and fun
In the end infinite world is just like the back of the cover says it is "the best of the budokai series" it's just a shame it came out so late, in fact this was the last DBZ game released for the console.
I still own every one of these games to this day dbz was a major part of my childhood this video was refreshing
Mines are Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3, Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3, Buu's Fury, Legacy of Goku 2, Raging Blast 2, Xenoverse 2, and the upcoming Kakarot game.

Budokai 3 for 3d goodness
Fighterz for classic 2d

ErbBetaPatched Budokai 3!
My favorite DBZ game is Tenkaichi 2
Is legacy of goku 2 not legend of goku no disrespect
I always remembered playing a dragonball game as a kid but I never knew which one it was, now I know it was bk2, time to go buy a ps2
I still play Budokai 3 is my favorite from the budokai series.
I wanted to play infinite world but tbh the guard aura, the easy way to spam ultimates even the unblockable, the mini games and the fatique system destroyed the whole experience for me and i got bored literally after 5 minutes.I love more the hyper mode and dragon rush in B3 :)
hot take: infinite world is my favourite budokai game. the mini games made it for me
Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is my favorite
As a kid, I loved the budokai 2 board game style. I felt like I was controlling the story a little bit
What's the difference in combat between these 2
@@brownzetzu1637 Just a quick list
-All cancels from T2 have been taken out in T3 (every chargable attack is cancellable in T2)
-movement has gotten much worse in T3, as tricks like Ground Dashes, Free Wills and R2 Slides aren't possible anymore
-left/right guarding has been taken out
-regular guarding now blocks most damage, whereas in T2 you had to adjust your defense to the opponent
-sway has gotten much worse, as it can't be used to defend against throws, rush B2s and kiai cannons
-Z-Counter has gotten much worse, as it now initiates a teleport duel that favors the player with less Ki
-In T3, jumping ki blasts can be done anywhere, making the ground-/airgame much more similar
-T3 has more combos, but because this is an Arena Fighter, combos are secondary
There are many more differences, but these are the main ones. You don't need to think to play Tenkaichi 3, you can just spam combos and use react to the opponent using a teleport, predicting the opponent is useless. In Tenkaichi 2, not thinking will most definitely lead to you being perfected if the other player knows how to play.
Tenkaichi Addict I agree with you I find it baffling how people can’t spot these differences between Tenkaichi 2 and 3
Tenkaichi Addict yep. This is kind of why kid buu, burter, and ss4 gogeta were so op in that game. They were just extremely fast.
That makes it feel similar to Infinite world.
>He never figured out how to cancel combo in Budokai 1
Many such cases.
Wow I love how everyone notices the music, when I bought the remastered version for 360 me and my older brother noticed the different music right away
The gameplay is far better than budokai 3 for just two reasons:
That’s crazy ur the only one so far that didn’t like infinite world
I mean it has a 3.5/10 on ign (but so does God hand) and a 48% on meta critic. I was surprised to see so many people come to its defense
ErbBetaPatched it’s ign we’re talking about here
@@ErbBetaPatched in metacritic the game has a user score of 7.9 that is really good
@@Miki_DBG I generally ignore aggregate sites like metacritic and rotten tomatoes. They're good for determining what people thought overall, but not so good for assessing the quality of the work. I brought it up here because the low metascore indicates that I'm not the only one who thought the game wasn't good.
Ethen Atkins-Jones go back and play infinite world u gotta give it more a chance
Thanks for showing the Tien-Fusion from Budokai 2. I never managed to unlock it back in the day. It looks pretty silly though. 😅
This videos kicks of my nostalgia.
I just hate that Infinite World is so heavily slept on
I Never played Infinite World, I would’ve Love to though. Wish it’ll be remastered one day like Budokai 3 did.
Do you have an idea of what a "cancel" is? (In budokai 1, 2, 3 and infinite world)
I really wish we could get another game in the style of Budokai, I’m so sick of the Tenkaichi style games, which has become the standard for all anime fighting games.
For tenkaichi tag team you don't tag team, you fight 2 v 2 in real time. Not really sure why that games called tag team.
@@gamerplayer8882 My bad
I remember being like 8-9 years old and playing the budokai tenkaichi trilogy. The best games in the series for me!
