Drool... Must not get jealous. Must remember that it's not how many instruments one owns, but how well those instruments are used. Then again, he is one of the greatest keyboard artists and pianists living today.
You got it. We just purchased a Roland Aira System 1 a few weeks ago. It still has to be set up, but it is perhaps the most versatile controller/synth I have seen in years. pretty much infinitely customizable through the plug-out software.
frankly I have never heard of him until a buddy of mine sent me the link for his studio a vid. So no he isn't the best nor most acclaimed keyboardist in the world and that my and most likely many other opinion. but I am curious of that bent keyboard to the left of him and who made it
Hey Jordan, im glad i just found the A and B studio interviews on here.As i am finding out home studios are beasts that continue to grow. Its nice to see what others have and how they have the layout going on. Im now subscribed here . All great tools ! That Steinway is my dream piano. Nothing compares to the sound of a full acoustic grand ! Nice work Jordan !
Endorsement love it a Korg guy by hard he is swept me along with it , I also love that Casio XW-P1 it says he love all synths with unique sonic. I like how he hold his fingers unconsciously in key position he's a hard core pianist. I would love it if beside finger practice he show us how he create his synth sounds just once. I love that studio its like a candy store you just can't get enough from.
Korg has some of the most amazing products! Besides a Korg Triton Classic 61 Key, I had a D16VL that I mixed some great records on! Just stumbled across your page. Thanks for the insight into your creative processes! Definitely a wealth of information!
He seems like the nicest guy, would love to just chat with him... and is that a Roland GAIA in the background? YESSSS I CAN SAY I OWN THE SAME SYNTH AS JORDAN RUDESS! By the way not a huge fan of Dream Theater (just not my cup of tea) but man do I love this guy...
I realize I'm 7 years late here, but is there any video/article that covers Jordan's recording/interface setup? Does it all basically start with a very simple midi interface recording simple midi input, then using virtual/software/instrument tracks after (except, of course, when a real piano/hammond/moog/etc. is the best option)?
Yeah the XW-P1. I can see how he wouldn't want to get rid of that - it's nowhere near as powerful as some of his workstations but it's bizarre and fun. Plus it looks so damn retro....
Dammmn!! its Keyboard Heaven that he lives in...I noticed he never introduced that weird cool circular shape synth..that looks friggin dope!...does he do anything else?
Good luck with that Seaboard system! I'd have to see a MUCH more impressive demo to get excited about it. But, it's good to see new ideas being explored. The ribbon strips seem silly, at least as he demos it.
you are right! :) love the pics with his Triton :) ah the newer workstations are better but they are lighter and dont look that epic like in the old days
I've had my Korg Kontrol 49 for years and could never find a controller good enough to replace it. I mainly use softsynths, I wish Korg would make a 88 key version of this controller. Maybe you could tug their coat.
Wow, I had never seen the Jupiter 80 before. I guess it's a virtial analog, right? So I went over to Roland website... Roland won't even let you see their smelly Jupiter 80 version 2 brochure without signing up to their website! By contrast, Dave Smith Instruments lets you download his user manuals straight off the product page! Does this indicate a difference in mentality?
he doesnt show anythign else in the studio exept from the seaboard, in which he is practically advertising and and he directly advertises the korg at the end, i think the studio A tour is an actual tour
IAmNateDogg Oh, my apologies. I just realized the Korg Kronos 88-key was actually advertised ever so flagrantly at the end of the video. However, I differ the initial statement; this is, rather than an advertisement for Korg, a promotion for the Musician's Friend online store. The Kronos workstation was merely relevant to the interview with Rudess and his relationship with the company. Furthermore, nothing that Jordan told about his relationship with Korg was untrue, and given he was indeed employed by them (and still is) I do argue that he is fully permitted to promote them in whichever way he wishes.
This channels motive to make this video, was to advertise one of their products they have available. That should be obvious from the start. This channel is a business after all, not a Tour Channel.
I think the Seaboard is a major innovation in instrument technology, but it's just too expensive at the moment to be successful, which is a great shame.
You kidding? That's exactly what I've always wanted for expression. And I just checked on evilBay - the Seaboards are a fraction of the price of a Continuum
Not at all!!, The PLUG INS are AWESOME (“Equator” and “Strobe 2” are worth it ALONE) CHANGE YOUR WORLD FOR $3OO!!! (ROLIs make you feel like you “TOUCH MUSIC”..... it’s unreal!!!)
the 1 time I saw the video I realy liked#10. Jordan what I do need to have a small studio for hobbie and funny at home. not for business,im amateur . Thanks
So you’re not going to explain about the bendy keyboard that’s draped over something that looks like Dali’s melting clocks painting?
This guy got an understanding wife !
Lasse L Well he does make millions from that stuff so I doubt she can complain.
The lesson is if you want a toy make sure you can make a living from it
yoga asix Then call my girl a saint because it’s just a hobby for me.
A very gifted person! A real musican! Thanks for show us.
Drool...

Good point. At least we can all agree Jordan deserves all those toys given how insanely talented he is!
frankly I have never heard of him until a buddy of mine sent me the link for his studio a vid. So no he isn't the best nor most acclaimed keyboardist in the world and that my and most likely many other opinion. but I am curious of that bent keyboard to the left of him and who made it
Imagine what Pink Floyd would have done with a Seaboard. I need one of those in my life. That thing is incredible.
what a cool dude
Thanks for showing us your studio
I wish he was my dad.
Ben Gordon I wish I had a dad.
Ben Gordon I was legitimately just thinking that!
Hmmm
He wouldn't let you play with his toys 😂😂😂😂

Fantastic person, fantastic master!

Anyone else feel like they just watched a long winded 2 part advertisement for the Korg Kronos?
NO.
of course i fell it .and by the way i prefer my moog synth.
This is very obviously an ad.
Meh. I'll allow it since he let us see inside his shed.
No, not really.
He has so much genuine passion for music. I'd love to have a conversation with him. He just makes me want to make music!
👏👏👏 Brasil aqui, José Da Penha RN
That piece is amazing sounds really great thanks for the demo vanmusicproduction
I love that C board !! Maan.. Wish i had that
ROLI SEABOARD!!!!!

He is an amazing player, and the Seaboard is very interesting.
Fantastic job!
meu Deus oq e isso , caramba onde vende um desce uau nossa , com esse instrumento e um tecladista desce sucesso total
Korg has some of the most amazing products! Besides a Korg Triton Classic 61 Key, I had a D16VL that I mixed some great records on! Just stumbled across your page. Thanks for the insight into your creative processes! Definitely a wealth of information!
That ROLI Seaboard has me hooked. I need one of those.
I remember doing Korg workshops with Jordan back in the 90's when we both had long hair :) Great guy and not a bad player ;)
So you probably worked with Chris Jett too?
I'd love to check out one of those Seaboards.
i love my seaboard so much, thanks Jordan!!!
Roland Gaia @0:54? One day, I'll be able to fit a Roli Seaboard in my studio.
Yah Gaia and Casio XW. I want to know what the black one is between the two....
OMG he has a casio keyboard =D
@The music Nerd
The _Casio XW-P1_ is visible in the bottom position of the rack to your right at 0:20
Yeah the XW-P1. I can see how he wouldn't want to get rid of that - it's nowhere near as powerful as some of his workstations but it's bizarre and fun. Plus it looks so damn retro....
Was anyone else reminded of Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood when he did vibrato on the seaboard at 1:08? (sp?)
I think the Seaboard would be a great controller for Kontakt Library's with a lot of Articulations.
Dammmn!! its Keyboard Heaven that he lives in...I noticed he never introduced that weird cool circular shape synth..that looks friggin dope!...does he do anything else?

Watch anything by Marco Parissi
what's with the dali keyboard?
any idea what is this ??
Yet all we get is a plug for the shitty midi controllers hes involved with, "great" video
how the fuck is he gonna not talk about that?
you are right! :) love the pics with his Triton :) ah the newer workstations are better but they are lighter and dont look that epic like in the old days

Love this guy
Cool thanks dude
nice love it
That would be AMAZING!!!!
I like that he doesn't need to swear to get his point across.
wow the seaboard has been around since 2013?
Wow, I had never seen the Jupiter 80 before. I guess it's a virtial analog, right? So I went over to Roland website...
Roland won't even let you see their smelly Jupiter 80 version 2 brochure without signing up to their website!

Yeah, Roland is only interested in serious inquires?
Nice shirt, Jordan! Where did you get it from?
What do you think about Casio XWp1?
I wonder if he and James Bernard were ever friends!
For a "B" I will give it an.....: "A" !!! :) Cheers from The Netherlands, Jeroen Simons (Independent/ex-EPICA)
He's genius and the best player... and he looks so epic :D
“Can I play your seaboard?”
“Yeah. Wash your hands”
And trim your nails.
Ok... so we're all just going to ignore that crazy bowed keyboard? Because that thing looks rad.
Anyone know what that curved keyboard thing is called?
"seaboard"
cuttellhell Lol no.
DanielRinerMusic oh right, just noticed the thing you were referring to.... sorry lol
nu motion revo 1
nu-motion.com/index.php?page=nukey
So the Seaboard is like the next evolution of what the Haken Continuum is?
Hold on don't after touch keyboards do that ?
What is that arched keyboard?
This guy is just a genius in general
What are those studio monitors? Anyone?
abztractbeats yes... anyone?
Hey Korg, record some video with Tuomas Holopainen, he is Korg maniac also :)

WHERE IS THE KEYTAR?
Right, I need to get my left hand up to speed with my right. I've got the facial hair. I WILL be as good as him one day.
Badass gear badass player!
wow!
I would never leave either room.
Curved keybord on the left ohhhh
This channels motive to make this video, was to advertise one of their products they have available. That should be obvious from the start. This channel is a business after all, not a Tour Channel.

Hi there fellow nerds !
No, I know KRK's lol I meant the big black ones
looks like a music store
Where's his Korg Oasys---
Studio A
So essentially he is Jordan Two Sheds Rudess.
The seaboard is just a very expensive rubber keyboard with polyphonic aftertouch.
+Hermes Mercury I'm just jealous for his toys.
***** Google it, lazy bitch.
My 1989 Ensoniq VFX SD has aftertouch!
Hermes Mercury you’re an IDIOT!!!
5D SYNTHESIS is the FUTURE!!! AS IS Roli!!!
