Yeah this is totally based on a real life situation in Lebanon circa 1989 when a dude wearing spandex had to fight through hordes of alien andriods after they nuked the city. He finally killed their leader, a giant mechanical floating skeleton head, and rescued some Russian prostitute.
First time i ever saw a game that was co-authored by SEGA & Sunsoft. It is a rather odd "homage" to Konami's Contra, but so was Data East's Midnight Resistance.

Is "Bay Route" a play on Beirut? The plot seems to echo the situation in Lebanon at the time.
Should be...considering the Japanese name for this game shares the same katakana for Beirut

Do you like Contra, I like Contra. There's homage and then there's 1:47. Not a terrible clone, but not as good as Midnight Resistance.
