    This is officially Ireland's best selling car of 2019 - well the entire Corolla range is anyway. Everyone knows you can get a Corolla hatch back (review here • Toyota Corolla review ... ) but for some, the style of a saloon might be more appealing! Check out what I think of the hybrid version by watching the video.

    Even though Toyota officially announced that the Avensis was going to be replaced by the Camry, I get the feeling that the Corolla saloon was actually meant to be the replacement for the Avensis, because just look at it; the styling of the Europe saloon is different to the hatch and estate and even the american Corolla 'sedan'. The current aaloon clearly looks like an evolution of tbe T27 Avensis, unlike te current Camry.

    • @majnus
      @majnus 4 роки тому +1

      Yes, also pricing is in avensis bracket. SOL T27 was around 34k, SOL Corolla is 32k so quite similar, unline Camry starting at 40k

      Toyota has lost its marbles in doing what it has done. The Camry is up in Audi territory and the Corolla is hybrid only which makes it more expensive.
      Complete madness.

    Wrong info, B mode does not regen more energy, is just using the engine to apply more and robust engine brake. During regeneration, only electric motors/generators are used to slow down the vehicle, but when it's come down to a extra brake force, B mode does the job, but it is not something to drive in all the time, is just puts extra strain to the engine. In few words, it helps when going down a steep hill, and regen braking is at its limit...

    • @NobbyOnCars
      @NobbyOnCars  3 роки тому

      It applies more braking force which in turn is converted into range from excess. I’ve driven so many electric and hybrid cars and witnessed it increase range. You can use it all the time in the style of an e-pedal in a Leaf for example, many EVs use it to deploy a one pedal style of driving.

    • @giovannidegrandis1879
      @giovannidegrandis1879 3 роки тому

      It does not work like this on the Toyota. It is meant to do two things: to add extra engine braking from the internal combustion engine in steep downhill (as noted in the previous comment), and to reduce the risk of battery saturation. These batteries work best between 60 and 80% of their charge. In the Toyota hybrid synergy drive, B should not be used in the attempt to regenerate more electricity. Check the user manual.

    I have an 2015 Avensis (a very rare first facelift, petrol, manual saloon model in the UK), and I'm toying with the idea of this, the Camry or the Prius PHV (or maybe a Mazda saloon if the reliability is up to Japanese standards). I definitely don't want a crossover or some overpriced German car.
    Personally, I love my Avensis as it does every very well, and is far better than the reviewers say it is. So, the big question for me is; is this Corolla saloon just as good, not as good, or even better than the 2009-2018 Avensis?

When I was last out there in 2017, the previous model was model was like $200 per month with a small deposit, which is the equivalent of £170 or a €180 per month. That's incredibly cheap, considering that's Vauxhall Corsa money. I just wish that we also have the manual V6 Camry too.

    Nobby we’ve been here before but you own an apology to (my) RAV4 and Toyota about the fuel economy. The one thing I would say that having lived with it for nearly 6 months is that the interior lighting in my Sol model is rubbish. The buttons for the interior lights don’t light up at night so you poke around blindly in the dark looking for them. There is however lighting in the driver and passenger footwell because we all know the passenger needs to know where they’re putting they’re feet at night time 🤔
